Hi all,
Previously I owed a HTC touch 3g phone which uses the touch flow 2d I think, in which when I am surfing in opera, I am able to press the start button that will take me to the today screen. When I click on the quick menu I would still be able to see opera running.
I've just switched to the TD2, and when I click on the start button, It now brings me to the program list, which is fine, but the quick menu doesn't show opera running anymore, its as if It's closed.
Even on the task manager, it shows that opera is not running anymore.
This is crucial to me, as I often use the quick menu to navigate from running apps to apps.
I've searched the forum and couldn't find a solution, any ideas would be helpful.
Thanks!
Oh bummer, can someone at least point me to a right page, if this is a redundant question? I really could not find a solution and its killing.
many thanks!
I did a quick search in the registry and found that:
HKCU\Software\HTC\TaskManager\ExclusiveList\System\Opera9.exe
I simply renamed "Opera9.exe" to "Opera9.exe_" and did a soft reset.
Now Opera is visible in the task list.
Have Fun.
Awesome! It works now..
Thanks a bunch!

I've had this problem for a while now and its starting to bother the hell out of me. I've talked to a friend of mine who has the wizard and he had a similar problem, but couldn'y find an answer either.
Every now and then, saw when i open programs, or the dialer, i'm not able to go back to the today screen! I try to get to it from magic button (have that installed) and through the start menu, and nothing, its gone! Only a soft reset gets it back. VERY frustrating.
I have a t-mobile rom installed.
I searched the forum but couldn't seem to find anyone with a simalar problem.
Thank you!!
Its a bug in magic button. Sometimes it shuts off the today screen when you're closing apps. Remove magic button for a day or two, your today screen will be fine
awww, i love magic button!
Any recomendations on another good task manager?

Yeah, I loved Magic Button too when I used it. Awesome freeware just wish it didn't have that bug. Right now I'm using Wisbar Advance 2. It's a theme software but the task manager built in is really really nice, plus it has cascading windows from the start menu. It's not free though.
My pocket IE closes on its own from time to time. Has anybody else had this problem? I can't isolate the cause, but it seems to happen whenever I'm scrolling using the bar on the right, or when I try to scroll while pages are still loading. It doesn't happen consistently so I can't say for sure. I tried searching Hermes_Problems, wiki, and searched forums but couldn't find a relevant thread.
I have seen this happen if you have your temp. files and cookies, etc. set to your storage card.
Try changing that and see what happens

Yes it does happen. However it is not closing down it is merely minimising itself. So if you install a task manager that shows an icons for open applications on the task bar, all you have to do is tap the iIE icon and back up it comes exactly on the page you were on. I forget now if the likes of Magic Button task manager shows the iconson the task bar - I think it does. (So might be worth installing it?)
Mike
I'm pretty sure mine closes it altogether. when i open IE back up it starts at the default screen. I know when i press the red hang-up button it minimizes IE because I can open it back up to the page I was browsing, so I know that's not it. hmmmmm...... defective model? it must be a software problem but it didn't go away with my flashing to WM6.
I tried searching for other posts about this, but I didn't find anything helpful. Maybe because I didn't really know what to search for. When you click the start button, the menu comes down and above the menu are icons of programs you've recently opened. Is there any way to get rid of that? It does nothing but take up room. If I want to open those programs again, I can find some of them on the start menu or the application launcher on my today screen.
Thanks in advance.
When I close a program, I know its in background(via task manager). How do I switch to that program without always loading taskmanager?
Example: If I minimize a IM application, it's in backgorund. B4 I could click on the upper right corner of the screen and see what's running and click on it to bring it forward.

Search for Dutty's taskmanager and your old style HTC taskmanager will be back in the top right hand corner..
Thanks. I was hoping it was "built-in" but I guess not.
I'm using Quickmenu for multitasking
I got my HD2 on Tmobile "launch date", and apps running in background was the first thing to piss me off. So I was forced to turn my Touch Diamond back on and bluetooth over a copy of quickmenu. After I installed it, I went to the options and checked off "register win key of device". Now I have one button access to my task manager in the quickmenu. O, btw, I also checked off on "ok to close program", huge help.
You should try LMT to close apps or switch to a taskmanager ;-)

I second the Dutty's reccomendation. But I wonder why the heck they didn't include the HTC tack manager by default?
I recommend using ArkSwitch. It opens a nifty graphical list of running programs when you click the Start area on the top left of any program. That's almost as easy as Alt-Tab.
I just tried LMT after having tried every task manager/quick menu app I could find and REALLY like it so far. Having customizable multi-touch gestures that are available anywhere is awesome.
Time will tell if it's stable, and it might be nice to get rid of the confirmation graphic after a while, but for those wanting fast app switching and easy app management, it's pretty slick.

Thanks! And it is stable (I hope so... ). Also check out the new version v0.7 with multitouch controller support. It will be released soon!
Resco Task Manager...best ever
I'm just trying the old staple freeware task manager "Magic Button" on my T-Mo HD2, and it works well. (Although a little hard with no stylus to aim correctly at the small icons on the taskbar.)
hey so i use to have a task manager on my phone before i did a hard reset..it was always on the top right corner with 3 bars and a small arrow. and when it opened it would open as a small menu on the top right with the programs and an X next to them. It also had 3 tabs above the programs that were running one showed the ram from what i remember. i cant seem to recall the name..does anyone know which task manger im talking about?

Look for "Touch X Taskmanager.cab". This is the one that fits your description above.
Question: does Touch X Taskmanager actually close each program after you use it? I'm trying Duttys right now, but I noticed that it often doesn't actually close some applications (eg. Comm Manager) when you press X. And, yes, I did set it up to close programs by pressing X.

Hmmm I've had no trouble with either Duttys or the Touch X taskmanagers when it comes to closing apps with X. I actually have it set to close with a tap-hold instead of just a tap, and comm mgr closes just fine for me, using either method, with both of those taskmanagers. Is it possible that maybe you're pressing just a fraction of a second too long and it's registering as a "tap and hold" instead of just a tap?
I tried duttys once before and it did not want to work with my phone but it downloaded it yesterday and worked like a charm. It is taking me a while to get used to the fact that it is there got so used to launching the task manager
I have it set to close applications with a tap. My touchscreen is so sensitive that it doesn't take much of a tap to accomplish this. Nonetheless, Duttys frequently leaves Comm Manager and ActiveSynch open, and I have to close them with the regular Task Manager -- one reason I also use Cookies Home Tab, so I could include the regular Task Manager as a QuickLink.

I gotcha. Yes I do see activesync stay open all the time in the background, and it never shows up in Duttys or the touch_x taskmanagers, and I just let it run really. But, never saw that with Comm Manager. Sounds like you've worked around it just fine though
i believe the task manager you are looking for is Maximus Mobile Task Manager or MMTask Manager for short(Not that short) you can find it here >http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=655853
