Strange issue, help please? - Touch CDMA General

So I just flashed my ROM to NFSFAN'S v13 and it installed and runs like a dream but I can't seem to get the today screen and start menu to look like the new WinMo 6.5 style. In fact it's missing entirely, has anyone encountered this and if so what's the fix? Thanks in advance.

reflash, maybe something wrong happened when flashing

Alright sounds good, is there a way to back up my contacts? I don't really feel like setting them up again.

Quick question how do I flash my radio only? I can't get it to work, I want to get my phone on 3.42.50 but the rom doesn't include a radio with it.

You need to get the latest ROM from Bell Mobility. If you search around for 'Bell Vogue ROM' or something like that, you'll find it. This will get your radio up to 3.42.50. It's important that after the ROM installs, you do not let the customizations run (aka soft-reset your phone after the first boot.) Then, re-flash NFSFAN's ROM following his instructions and you're good to go!
As for backing up your contacts, I haven't updated my NFSFAN ROM since V9 (moved to Android nearly full-time) but it should include an app called PIMBackup. This will allow you to choose what PIM info you want to back up and save it to your SD card. You could also use Microsoft My Phone. I forget the website you have to go to to sign up, but the app should be included in the ROM.

Touch HD is ruined, please help NOW! IMPORTANT!

My phone works perfectly except I can't answer calls, when I press answer/ignore it freezes until it goes to voicemail and then comes back. I've flashed multiple roms and had the problem with all of them. I'm not using any special themes or anything, and the only software I ever install are HD Tweak and Finger Keyboard 2.1 and my radio 1.14.25.24. Here's a list of what I've done since I had the phone:
1. Bought phone. Flashed HSPL. Flashed Laurentius L26, no problems. Was being lazy so I didn't hard reset after flashing.
2. Flashed Dutty R14. Didn't hard reset after flashing. No problems for awhile and then the problem of not being able to answer calls appeared.
3. Flashed EnergyRom wm6.5 rom. Hard reset twice after. Still having problem where I can't answer calls.
4. Flashed Dutty 3.9XT wm6.1 rom. Hard reset twice after. Still having problem where I can't answer calls.
If anyone can help me figure out why my phone is doing this I'd really appreciate it, I'll even pay you some money on PayPal if you like because I really want to fix it. Here are some ideas I had as to why it's not working:
- Problem with rom flash. No, because I tried it with 3 different roms so far and had the same problem.
- Touch HD isn't fast enough to run wm6.5 and be stable. No, because I tried it with a wm6.1 rom too and had the same problem.
- Someone suggested it might be a problem with the battery. No, because I ordered new replacement batteries and tried them and had the same problem.
- Some of the settings in HD Tweak are incompatible with something in the roms I'm using. Maybe, is this possible? I don't really change much, just the softkeys and the highlight color and things like that.
- Screwed up something in the SPL or something because I didn't hard reset after flashing the first 2 roms. Maybe, is this possible?
- Dropped my phone and somehow managed to break nothing but the mechanism involved in answering calls. Maybe, is this possible?
Today I'm going to reflash HSPL, flash the stock HTC rom, hard reset twice, and see if I still have the problem. I don't know what else to do or what other possibilities there are. If anyone can shed some light on this issue, that would be great, because I really don't want to have to buy a new phone. Thanks
Did you try another SIM?

Hi rpimps,
I think that would be a good idea, flash back to stock, check for any differences, if everything works ok, then try flashing to a custom ROM again.
It might be an idea to try out a different radio version, for example, try 1.17 as this could improve certain built in feaures of your phone, especially since radio versions are known to work only in specific regions, it may work out better for you overall
Also, if not already cooked into the custom ROM of your choice, you should also install the RIL version that matches your radio version - 1.17 Radio supports RIL version 1.14 (1.14.25.24), which you can download the RIL via this link, at the bottom of post #1 - read this section as it also explains how to install the RIL.
I recently remember another member mention that their phone would sometimes hang when/after receiving a call, this was solved by installing the associated RIL - a layer in an operating system which provides an interface to the hardware's radio and modem.
Best regards.
Just to see if call mechansm works;
- try to record something (to check mic)
- try front speaker (i dont know how to do this)
- check if vibration works. (vibrate on connect may be on)
I guess your gsm radio works well since you can receive calls. Try to use windows original phone canvas instead of touchflo 3d. Dont know what to check more Its strange.

Here's what I did today:
1. Reflashed HSPL. Hard reset.
2. Couldn't find a working stock rom so I just reflashed Dutty 3.9XT. Hard reset.
3. Installed 1.17 radio and rilphone 1.14 like you recommended.
4. Didn't install anything else. Tested phone right after install and it's still having the problem.

I can call other people and it works fine. And actually about 10% of the time I CAN answer calls, and when it works it works perfectly. But 90% of the time it won't let me answer.
I might just have to put this phone on ebay and go back to my Diamond

that's a shame dude, not sure what else to suggest... it sounds like a hardware related issue as you have repeatedly tried flashing different firmware one on the phone... i suppose it's not under warranty?

Unfortunately, it breaks the warranty aggreement. So e-bay is a good idea, I guess.
P.S: I heard from someone that you can go back to stock rom then you can still use your guarantee. But I'm not sure if they can see that you reflashed it or not.

From what I have read, if you flash back to the exact stock ROM which was installed on your phone when you had received it, then this will not affect your warranty - if you decide to return your phone (assuming it is still under warranty) just make sure you downgrade to Stock ROM and Radio version, with no trace of HSPL or USPL also, or else you will have to pay them money if they (HTC) find out
EDIT: Please follow these steps to restore back to your stock ROM version:
1. First, be sure to restore your stock OS, and then the stock radio. The Stock SPL is always to be done last!
2. Download your choice of a stock spl package from the link shown below. (currently 1.13, 1.14, 1.15, 1.54)
3. Also download the original hardspl from the link shown below.
4. Run the hardspl exe but do not click anything in RUU yet. Just let the hardspl EXE extract the files for flashing.
5. The SPL you want to revert to is a .NBH file, put the stock SPL NBH in the extracted hardspl package, overwriting the original NBH file in it!
6. Continue with the RUU (or if needed, run SSPL-Manual.exe manually, then run RUU when it goes to tricolour 1.07.OliNex screen), it goes to 100%, reboots, done.
7. To verify, enter bootloader mode, see version number on tricolour screen, should now just say 1.14.0000 or any other version ending in .0000, but not ending in OliNex!
that's it.
Please refer to the following link for more information and the necessary files you will require to re-flash back to Stock (see and read the last section of post #1):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431217
Regards.
p.s. also remember to flash back to the original Radio version of the phone, if required.
There are several stock ROMs linked in the Blackstone Wiki, flash back to one of those and see if your problem is still there. If it is, send it back for a Warranty repair - as long as there is a stock SPL and ROM image on your phone, you Warranty will be intact.
what i dont see is mention of ho u are answeing the calls.
there or at least three ways
1. the on screen prompt. i assuming this is the one that freezes
2. the answe key at the bottom left of the phone
3. the htc headphones im assuming you have
have u tried using all three of these methods to answer calls??

T-Mobile HD2 with serious problems

Firstly sorry for the long post.
I'm having a few problems with my HD2, and I'm looking solutions that dont involve flashing the t-mobile ROM (which is 1.43.110.2). I have all the HTC patches installed.
The problems I'm having are ...
*Favourites are disappearing sporadically. I cant figure out whether they're going when I sync it up or just purely at random. They stay on the internet tab but disappear from the favourites menu. Folders are not affected.
*Music player: Lags. I have to wait about 2-3 minutes before a song starts playing on the first attempt, then its fine. This happens even if the little spinning circle hasn't appeared (this appears after you have updated the storage card by syncing with media player). Also when sliding album art back and forth in landscape mode, it freezes, and then jumps back to the beginning of the stack. Didn't used to do this.
*Music Sync - my biggest nightmare right now; I really need help on this one! Sync in windows 7 windows mobile device manager works fine. When I load up WM player and attempt to sync the storage card however, the device will sync for a couple of minutes, and then soft reset itself.
Hopefully when 6.5.3 comes out officially HTC will roll up all the crappy patches and T-mobile will approve it... but until then I'm stuck with these annoyances (in addition of course to crappy SMS, constant crashing, lags etc., which I certainly wasn't expecting when I got my shiny new HD2
I was in a similar boat to you. The Tmo ROM is really poor and I hate to tell you this but 1.48 or 1.61 are the answer.
If you really can't consider that option, I'd say that you should do a hard reset and see what issues you still have with a fresh ROM. The original T mo ROM is on here somewhere. download that as a backup before you do anything, just for safety.
realy sorry mate but he is right try and see if you can get hole of a free goldcard i run 1.48 insted of t-mob its not purfect but worls alot better
Thanks for your responses. I guess flashing is the only option, cos right now this phone really is virtually unusable. I'll have to try and get my head around the whole goldcards thing but if I get stuck I'll start a new thread...
Thx!

Hi mate, had the same issue. The gold card thing isn't too bad, theres a great idiots guide on here that I used, the hardest bit is getting the number off the MicroSD card, dont do what I did and lose all my data on it (as you edit some values which makes Windows no longer recognise it sometimes). Take a copy of whats on there just incase. Again there is a post that mentions a way of reversing the change so you have lost all your data on the memory card.
Good luck, I did without any probs to flash from 1.43 to 1.48 using the Goldcard method
I have the same problem with favourites and i'm on the 2.02 ROM. I never touch IE on my computer though so i've not put much thought into what happens with the sync. I'm just throwing together a wee app to sync it with Firefox though so that will solve my issues.
As for synching it with media player (and i'm old school - I drag and drop files), could there be any corrupt/unrecognisable data in your playlist? You could try a drag/drop dump of music onto your device and see if that works.

There is now HSPL and SSPL available so goldcard is no longer required, using SSPL or HSPL is much easier too
Hi, I converted my T-Mobile HD2 to 1.48 using SSPL. After a couple of teething troubles with Firewalls and a hanging Activsync - fixed with a PC restart it worked just great. It scared me twice when it hung in the boot loader but taking the battery out and restarting fixed it. I made a goldcard aswell just in case but do not really know if it would have worked.
Now its loaded The HD2 seems faster, has more programs and the battery seems to last longer particularly with WLAN.
I still have 1 open question though that I have, touch wood, not had to find the answer for yet. If I do a hard reset which ROM reboots, T-Mobile or the 1.48? Perhaps somebody here knows? I would be grateful to find out before I have to try it out.
Good luck and hopefully it works as well for you.

i believe if you hard reboot it will revert to the Tmobile rom.. as you used SSPL... only if you do a HSPL will it stay... correct me if i'm wrong guys

Incorrect...your Rom does not change regardless of flashing method SSPL or HDSPL. If using the SSPL method a hard reset will remove the SSPL only, and your SPL ONLY will revert back to original, Your latest Rom does not change....
Thanks for the quick responses guys but I am still a bit confused - sorry.
Perhaps in laymans terms -
If I have to hard reset, when the phone reboots will I get all of the T-mobile c**p again and have to go through the SSPL process again- which is not easy when on a business trip, or will I keep the HTC version.
If as I think I understood from band27 I get the HTC version back but lose the SSPL what effect will that have?
thanks again
No, When you hard reset you will get exactly the same ROM as you have before you hard reset. IT will be just like the first time the phone booted after you initially re-flashed it.
The only way to return it to T-Mobile's ROM is to find the download that 'football' posted a few weeks ago and flash it.
Plz let a noob continue this question
If i use SSPL to flash a cooked ROM and for some reason want to go back to a original ROM, how?
Is it correct that i only take my original ROM and flash it as usual, or do i need to do annything els?
Do i need a goldcard?
Plz help a noob

UK T-Mobile sorry a simple question please

Hi
I'm the very proud owner of a HTC HD2.
When trying to install most tweeks / .cabs the phone says unsuccessful cannot install due to invalid or no certificate.
I have CERegEditor installed on PC. is there a simple reg change or app to overcome this? I have searched in this forum...but not been able to find.
Many thanks..
Rob
Hi and welcome to XDA fellow tmobile uk user
tmobile blocks changes to the registry, there are 2 solutions to this
a cab file is a simple installation file for your phone, people here will make these tweaks into cab files, download them from the device and install them onto your device and restart the phone
the other solution is to flash your phone to another rom, either stock rom or custom rom makes no difference
i am currently using artemis 5.5 and it is 10000x better than the tmobile stock rom
hope this helps!

hi Mr CGREC92....
If you do flash the rom, say, to the latest official HTC updated ROM, does this create problems with your warranty on the Tmobile phone?
thanks cgrec92,
any problems in flashing an new radio or rom on uk tmobile? how about getting tmobile setting ?
Bandare and RobLion, flashing the first time may be a scary thing but I assure you its much easier than you think and the whole process lasts about 5 minutes.
The phone and text messaging settings are on the SIM card, not on the phone, flashing a new ROM will not affect this.
As soon as the phone turns on for the first time after a flash, it prompts you to connect to the Internet using your data connection. Select your operator from the list as Tmobile and the phone will do the rest for you.
To summarize, nothing changes to your phone, text, or internet settings.
You will however need to perform a hard reset after a flash which wipes data from your phone such as your contacts, photos and text messages. A simple backup program, I use Microsoft MyPhone will back all this up in a couple of minutes, and after the flash you can re-download them.
After that all that's left to do is add in all your little shortcuts to the People Tab and Internet Quicklinks etc
Job complete
The flashing will void your warranty, but you can return to how the phone was in a couple of minutes, thus getting your warranty back, i'll explain
To flash your phone, you will download a little program from the first post on this forum called HSPL which modifies the bootloader of the phone allowing you to install any ROM you want
If you send your phone off for repair, the first thing these people check is your SPL, if they see it has been changed to HSPL they will not repair your phone. But by flashing your phone with the original tmobile rom that came with the phone (downloaded from the second post on this forum) through the microSD card will restore the SPL and your original ROM, voila your warranty is restored
To flash your phone, you will download a program called CustomRUU and a .nbh file, put these both into the same folder and connect your phone by USB to your computer, do not flash through the microSDcard unless you are trying to restore your warranty because this will change other settings on the phone, unlike the USB method will simply install the new ROM. Connect your phone through Active Sync, then run CustomRUU and follow the instructions
Your phone will then install the ROM
Hard reset (As soon as you turn the phone on, hold down VolUp and VolDown)
Your phone will now be nice and fresh with your new awesome ROM
Hope this helps, it's much easier than it sounds, follow the sticky threads for installing a Custom ROm and HSPL for more detailed info
Oh and let's not forget the advantages of this
Instead of that crappy Web'N'Walk you will have Opera
You will have the YouTube app
You will have more freedom and a MUCH MUCH MUCH more stable and fast ROM
cgrec92,
I can not thank you enough for taking the time to give advice. I'm thinking of installing EnergyROM....what made you chose artemis?
no problem mate, ive been in your situation not a couple of weeks ago
flashing is the best thing you can do for your phone in my opinion
and after a bit of flashing you can familiarize yourself with the MTTY process and make the process even faster!
energy rom is very good, its one of the best out there, I have however heard there are some issues with fast battery drain? but above all its a very good rom
i use artemis 5.5 because it is almost identical to the original rom that comes with the phone, with tweaks to make it more stable, MUCH faster and smoother, everything updated, has a document reader tab, in my opinion it's the most stable
I have been using for some 5 days now and have found NO bugs whatsoever
as opposed to the odd 80 bugs in the tmobile ROM
its all a matter of taste my friend, if you dont like the energy rom, install another one!
theyre all being constantly updated with the latest updates, builds, and tweaks
flashing is fun!
oh and I forgot to add that some custom ROM's require a specific radio and this must be flashed before the ROM is installed, this is dead simple and takes half a minute
let me explain
a radio is a piece of software which controls communications such as phone calls, text messaging, 3G, internet etc. different radios have different effects, for example better signal, better battery life, better data handling
if i remember correctly the t-mobile rom comes with radio v 2.04
at the moment there is a radio v 2.08 again it's a matter of preference, find which one gives you the best signal and battery life!
to install is simple, the radio comes in a .nbh aswell, usually about 25mb which is very small
just like installing a ROM, put this .nbh in the same folder as the CustomRUU and flash the radio using CustomRUU, just like flashing a ROM!
you will not need to do a hard reset, when the phone restarts your new radio will be installed and ready to use
I guess i'm going to become a flasher now!
Thank you for advice. i'll post any further questions in ROM forum after i decide which Rom to go with.
thank you.
HI,
agreed I have a t-mobile hd2 and it's the best option flash a new rom, also I sent my phone back under warranty and fwas ully fixed no quible just had to back out the hpsl as pointed out earlier in this thread it all works...
thanks daveyg99,
i guess you both know its a big decision to make your 1st flash.....gulp...brave pill taken.....just chosing radio and rom now.........
good man
any problems just post back on xda youll get answers within a couple minutes
sorry cgrec92,
question......im looking at HSPL......it says check spl version is 1.42.0000 check by holding volume down button and reset....
how do i do this?
turn your phone off
press the button to turn your phone back on again but hold down the VolDown button
it'll bring you to a 4-coloured screen with a bit of text
it should say spl 1.42.0000
take the battery out and put it back in and turn your phone back on normally
job done
thanks done it....1.42..ok.. I hadn't turned the phone off first doh!
hspl done
great work
now all you have to do is choose your ROM
ok going for energyROM 21892 with cookie...the more stable one......dl now......42min left...
good choice my friend
the download file will include a .nbh file, make sure to rename this file as RUU_Signed.nbh if it hasn't been done so already
the download might include a CustomRUU which will be used to flash the ROM
if it doesnt then this can be downloaded from the sticky threads aswell
let us know how it goes

HTC 1.66 ROM help?

hi all, i have a HTC HD2 on t-mobile UK and want to update my rom to 1.66 official in order to be able to use HTC messaging (currently disabled it due to known faults)
if it is possible could someone reply with instructions to how to do this and links to the ROM and any new radio i may need to install/flash with.
i have only flashed a phone once, my old T-Mobile MDA compact IV.
this would be so appreciated
p.s i cant downlload the rom from the site because my serial isnt accepted by htc
1 get HSPL2, run HSPL2, choose 1.66.hspl
2 get 1.66 wwe rom HERE - first post first link 1.66 folder.
3 using usb, run the 1.66 exe you just downloaded.
simple, eh?
Hello,
I have a little problem after flashing the 1.66 ROM for my region (east europe). The initial setup of the phone didn't start and the first screen of this setup it is showing only when I switch off the phone.
Other than that the phone works normally, but I want to get rid of the iitial setup screen when I turn my phone off. Do you know if there is a way to start the initial setup manually?
I tried flashing through the SD card and also through the PC, but the initial setup won't start.
Any advice will be appreciated.
Thank you!

thanks for your help mate, downloaded the HSPL but when i follow the rom to the 1.66 folder there are 2 WWE 1.66 files. the first one has not many downloads and the other has 1000+ downloads. which one do i download as the file names are very similar but not the same
these two?
RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.66.405.2_Radio_CRC_Signed_15.32.50.07U_2.07.51.22_2_Ship.exe
RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.66.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.0 7U_2.06.51.07_Ship.exe
I dont know what crc signed means, but the first one (40 or so downloads) has a later radio version, and if you look it was uploaded later than the other.
To be honest, it doesnt matter which you flash, i suspect, because
1 - hspl is protecting your phone against bad flashes over usb,
2 - you can change the radios independantly anyway, so if you want to play safe, go for the high download one, and then update the radio manually.
EDIT - PS, anyone that does know what crc signed means, plz let me know.

Hello,
I have a little problem after flashing the 1.66 ROM for my region (east europe).
Thank you!

When I had this problem, I think I just opened the notifications bar and went into the phone setting where you can choose whether you want wifi on or bluetooth or put the phone in flight mode.
After that it seemed to go into the set up.
Im going by memory so this might not be it for you, I actually gave up and went onto energy rom.

Confused on how to reflash magldr

My friend had someone locally install magldr, and androind 2.3.2 on his phone. The ROM used isn't the greatest. Keeps crashing the phone, won't allow GPS to lock and a few other issues.
He asked me to re-ROM the phone with another, more stable ROM. The first ROM I found for the phone listed "GPS lock within 5-20 seconds" sounds like they fixed a few issues.. but the problem is every guide on how to load a ROM onto the phone starts from using WM.
How do I go about replacing the ROM?
Are there any good, well known rom's that I should be using?
Any and all help is appreciated.

All ROMs nowadays are good, but I would advise MIUI or CM7. Gingerbread Sense ROMs are not perfect yet (but they are very close! Still try them if you want).
As for the guide, I found this one very good.
Problem. I followed those steps buy magldr isn't able to locate the zip on the sd card. Tried the HTC sense ROM. Any suggestions?
Tried a different ROM. It installed successfully. There's no data available, mms's aren't receiving and GPS isn't locking.. going to keep trying different roms until one does the trick.
I used the HTC Sense stock ROM. I'm going to try another one, i'm guessing these issues are all driver related.

Try a generally more stable/reliable ROM such as Typhoon CM7. This may help, as Sense + Gingerbread is still not all that great IMO (some may find it OK, I simply don't)
I'll give that a try, thanks.
Here is something to read for you.
Follow the steps, run Task29...clean everything...Install Magldr then install CWM.
From there you have to be able to flush almost any ROM using CWM.
