I just sourced a non-SonyEricsson battery for my phone.
It powers the phone fine but when the phone is plugged in for power charging I get an error message saying that the battery in the phone is "Alien" therefore it will not be charged.
I have to charge the battery through a separate charging box
I suppose there is no software fix for this ?
got this when i was using a k610i battery with my xperia but if i recall i restarted the phone and it started working but otherwise i dont know
why would you use a non-SE battery??
Is this it?

i bought three of them when i first got my xperia.
they were all complete crap.
They never gave accurate battery readings and their life time was very very short and at the end of it left my xperia not being able to turn on - now all 3 of them are so discharged i cant even be bothered to charge them - trust me dont rely on these batteries they are awful

Ever heard Made in Japan "Copy".
hehe.
well just be careful guys with the alien battery. most MADE IN CHINA batteries don't have promissed mAh at all. especialy when cheap. we have a meassuring device in work and evev the 3000something mAh isn't 3000 but just 2500. second, the cheap batteries don't have short circuit protection chip.. so just be careful. mugen may be good, but the 3000mAh they offer isn't simply 3000

Very interested in these batterys.
Whats the warranty and how long would it take to ship to Aus?
If the picture's anything to go by, this guy's selling the OEM battery on eBay for under $20 including postage.
Doing a search on eBay for "HB4F1" (the battery code) yields many cheaper results, though their photos indicate that they're aftermarket rather than the original.
If you do decide to buy one, I'd suggest you refrain from leaving feedback until you've had a chance to test it for a few days to confirm that you're getting at least the same life as you got with your original battery.
Based on past experience (with other 'phones), you'll never get anywhere near the rated capacity with "no-name" (and in "no-name" I also include Mugen et al) batteries; they're really only good for emergency back-ups rather than replacing your existing battery. And you'll NEVER get more than the OEM battery's capacity, no matter what the aftermarket manufacturers tell you.

$99 is very pricy for a phone that costs ~$300. AND the the phone becomes bulkier, no thanks.
$99 for one battery? I prefer buy 3 or 4 standard bateries and swap when they gets empty lol
I would love to have one of these especially the 3600 mah
ive heard that 1800mah is something like failure or fake, it doesnt last that longer than the 1500mah one. also except that the 3600mah is soooo fat i think its really expensive also considering the fact that it might be used and of course not certified
I buyed two of this batteries. My batteries production date 1,5 year ago and it's lighter than orginal battery. These batteries are waiting for emergency call (if orginal batter empty in a emergency situation) I never charged them and i dont know performance. I am just tested them on my phone. They are %50 charged and phone can working with them.
Have they the same size as a normal one?
the site shows a big back cover.
Nope, they are fat fat that's why they had custom back cover.

Just as much as any other battery, its best to let it drain and recharge.
I mean when the battery is low you can just connect it again to cable so why keep it connected constantly.
It wont hurt your battery but it will make it weak eventually after a long time.

There actually was a lengthy discussion about this that I read a while ago, I think it was on Ars Technica. Anyways, the point was that most modern batteries actually suffer the most when they're full or when they're drained almost empty; it's best to charge the battery often by small amounts rather than charge it seldom and from zero to full. In other words, they suggested that when the battery reaches 40% you should recharge it to around 90% and avoid draining the battery completely.
I just found something relevant on Gizmodo: http://gizmodo.com/5761317/how-to-take-care-of-your-li+ion-battery , or the whole article on Ars Technica: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/news...-is-the-best-way-to-use-an-li-ion-battery.ars
From the article:
• Do not let it run out completely all the time. Full discharge puts a lot of strain on the battery
• Do not keep a Li-ion battery fully charged all the time, either. If you don't use your battery it might suffer from capacity loss

That is just too funny! Perhaps there are more girls in the forum than you realise and being properly dressed before entering is a new standard for you?!?
actually from experience with drills with li-on batteries i am sitting on 4 that are garbage right know dont let them drain completely and carefull with the heat the heat will eat them up.......also dont leave them charging all the time let them run there course as needed but dont let them drain to nothing and keep the heat to minimal...they do good then......;-}
My experience with Li-Ion batteries(which is not quite the same as the lithium polymer batteries in out tablets but probably close enough) is that they do better and last longer if you don't leave them plugged in. I have a number of Li-ion cordless impacts and ratchets and have gone through more than a few battery packs by leaving them on the charger over night. As far as discharging them completely goes, I assume its probably not a good idea. On a side note, Ni-Cad batteries actually seem to do better for me, they are just a lot heavier.
This may be the chicken or the egg question for electronics. Never really got a consensus on an answer. My laptop has gone through 3 batteries each being used differently (on the third now). I have read to charge when possible when less than 30% and to top off always since the batteries have a recycle life. Also to monthly cycle the battery to give the battery a proper exercise. Then if you are not going to use it discharge to about 70% and store in a cool place. Some even say the freezer.
Don't know how much the storing applies to the tablets but id sure like a scientific answer aside from batteries university or what ever that site is.
Well I for one would like a picture if you're going to store your tablet in a freezer.
Google "lithium polymer battery care". This will give you more than enough to get completely confused.
This is a good site: http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/charging_lithium_ion_batteries

I have found this battery on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GOLD-2430MAH-HB4F1-BUSINESS-BATTERY-HUAWEI-E5830-E5832-E5836-E5838-E5-ASCEND-/130576493812?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1e66f72cf4 and from the description "seems" possible a good capacity. For me if the technology is always lipo is impossible a capacity of 2.4A with same battery size and weight, but 1.7~1.8 is credible if really the cell is Japan made.
Bye
Fabryxy
Edit: sorry but from the neutral feedback of the seller seems that many people have denote same\less capacity of stock battery.

Delivers superior performance
Robust & durable battery
Direct battery replacement
Stable and safe to use
No "memory effect"
Lightweight lithium-ion

Well the original battery is a Lithium Polymer and NOT a Lithium Ion
so there is a difference between both off them
Pretty ****ty battery. Probaply not the battery what it says.

A guy on youtube reviewed it, it doesnt fit right. Mind you his title says 4200 mah and the description says 4500 mah. If you look at the one I ordered below it shows that 4200mah would fit like his does.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHQoOLVSyxI
I ordered this one because the description shows the size differences. For my model the 4500mah replaces my stock 3220mah.

Also with these batteries you will most likely lose nfc as they do not mention if they contain the nfc antenna or not.
do you have a samsung oem QI/NFC cover ? seems like if the battery fits then the stock OEM QI cover would give you NFC even with this battery, no ?

Dude just dont buy it, rubish from china. Do you really think they can make a 4500 mah batter with the same size as the original samsung one which is 3220 and sell it for so little money? Chinese batteries are the worst in the world. They even sell their rubish phones with 1 extra battery because they know the first one is gonna die so fast.
Now, from my experience: I once bought a 6800 chinese garbage power bank battery, because it was cheap and I wanted to try it. Guess what, it could only charge my 1650 mah galaxy s2 once before getting depleted. A friend of mine tried a battery similar to the one you linked for his galaxy s4. It was 3500 mah (original is 2600 mah), it achieved a maximum (MAXIMUM) Screen On time of 2 hours. Not to mention that they are dangerous because they might explode (not kidding, I know a case) and that rubbish effective capacity they have is gonna get even worse so quickly.
I've never understand why people risk destroying their expensive new phone by sticking in some cheap ass 'high capacity' battery from China that could well explode while charging, google exploding lithium batteries, it's not pretty. That people think you can fit extra mah into the same size as the OEM battery baffles me, if it was possible to do this do you not think Samsung would have done it themselves.......

A lot of these aftermarket batteries are lies cheats and theif's. I got a 3300 for my s8 and it only hot 2980. And its supposed to be a good one. I have very rarely seen aftermarket better than oem unless its noticeably larger. Amazon Ebay all of them are guilty of selling sub par cheaply made batteries. And if I had to guess your is one too.

Nah. It can detect the voltage too. It's hard to go by the reviews a lot I bet most reviews in the markets are some form of friends family or paid reviewers. Ah if you needed a battery you needed a battery. That's another gimmick imo. My s8 has never been wet. I dont trust that crap either. I still keep mine in a life proof. ? there's great batteries out there dont get me wrong. It's just hard to find em. I try to get them from authorized service centers if I can.
My batteries where shot. My orig died out with only 4 to 5 hours off the charger 1 hour at most of screen on time. Even though mines not at capacity I'm still back to full day and about 5 hours of use again. I've had better. But my s8 is over 2 years old now.
