How come iGo8 does not work on my mates then???
I have installed it on his diamond over and over, and get the same thing... The blue loading screen pops up, at the bottom as soon as it says "init API" at the bottom right, and then instantly the app closes with no error message or anything :-s
cleanup your sys.txt. Leave there only path to the application.

Hmmm not sure what you mean!!
I looked in the sys.txt in the Igo8 folder and it has in it.
"[project]
name="igo8_pda"
[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"
[interface]
,axzoom2d=60000000
show_exit=1
[rawdisplay]
driver=gdi"
Already tried removing everything except the Folders one, and it still didnt boot :-( even tried just "app="%SDCARD%/iGO8""
You need to edit the sys.txt file. Instead of SDCARD it should read Internal Storage. This thread should help

When I was using iGo8 with windows 6 it worked fine but when i upgraded to the HTC windows rom 6.1, iGo8 doesn't start at all. What do i need to do for iGo8 to work on my Touch Cruise on Original HTC 6.1 rom.
Thanks,
Brendan
Oh someone else with my issue.
I have the same Problem. When klicking the IGO8.exe shortly something is loading (this windows loading animation). But it wont start. There is also no Startupscreen from IGO8
thanks rgr81
Most likely you guys are using an outdated version. I had the same problem and everything worked great after I upgraded to iGo 8.0.0.49545.
Cheers
try to remove htc home from the today screen
if it doesn't do the trick try afterwards a soft reset and try to launch igo again
iGo issue solution
Hi guys, the problem that you have has been solved in the last version of iGo 8. They realised there is a problem with 6.1 and they've fixed it. So, the last version can be downloaded from any site (or I can upload it) .. just let me know
Just update to latest version; i have 1 sept. 2008.

it's 8.0.0.54000... consider it's only an update so ask them for the exe only. no need to replace the other files.
From the update 8.0.0.54000 take the igo.exe and rename it application.dat and overwrite it on the old file on igo8.
Instal igo again and it will work.
That is one reason for me to downgrade to wm6.
Where can i get the update?
How about using google for example? http://www.navngo.com/pages/global/eng/igo_8_update
sorry, i made a mistake, delete this post

You have to switch off AGPS in settings or alternatively initiate GPS before each iGO start using a program such as 3d tracking or GPS2Blue.
For more details see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=370907
I had the same problem when upgraded my touch cruise to Wm6.1
I had to remove htc home screen from today screen.
settings->today->items
uncheck Htc home (or however it is called exactly, sorry I forgot).
Then softreset.
After softreset start iGO8. Minimize it and start HTC home again. Go back to iGO and you can use it or exit now.
It should work until next softreset.
Better solution is upgrading iGO.
I upgraded to iGO8.3 and everything work normally now.
Hi all,
Yesterday I upgraded my Polaris Rom from official site. Now Igo does not work. When i click the Igo icon; generally do notting, sometimes Igo start but I received an error "HardwareIDerror".
How I can fix this problem.
Best regards....
Igo 8 works great and 8.3.1 works too on my Polaris without any probleme.
What have you in your sys.txt?
I had problems first installing it also, it would hang... where is it installed? I take it, on an SD card... the sys file needs to read;
[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"
[interface]
maxzoom2d=6000000
show_exit=1
[map]
2dheadup=1
Also try hard reset, and then reinstalling to the SD card make sure that the sys file reads as above.
My igo also used to hang on "Initializing Warnging Data", don't worry it take about 30-45 mins to try ang get geo locations for all of your contacts.
Happy de-bugging
Work fine on my device.
But must turn off touch flow(manila2D).
thanks guy I installed IGO8 8.3.1 works fine....
Hey Guys,
on the R2A-ROM I used TT 7.915.9196 successfully.
Now i've upgraded today to the R3A and installed the same Version with the same Installer again.
I installs perfectly but when I start it i got the error:
"Your device is not compatible with this version of TomTom NAVIGATOR!"
What should/can I do?
Thanks guys
Did you install TomTom orginally on your Memory Card? If so everything is still there, just a link in your StartMenu is missing. Have a look for \Storage Card\Program Files\Navigator\TomTom Navigator.exe and you can just run it from there.
Yes, try that! It should work because it worked on mine, same version, etc.!

May I ask: does it refer to all the apps installed on memory card? I mean - after a FW upgrade it's enough to just run it?

Perhaps because you messed it now up with that installation and some files are changed.
Since I installed tt7 on the memory card, I don't need any installer ever again. No matter if reset or flash. Just pop in the sd card and I run the tt7.exe again. This will automatically run tt7 as if it never was off. (unless you changed the phone/imei no need for new serials with the maps either!)
As to the question if that goes for all other apps, some! Some need a serial again, some don't. Perhaps because some apps put a reg file on the stick. The others will run after a reinstallation creates the necessary reg entries in the phone again.

With R3A??
If yes, then please PM to me with the installer. Thanks
;-)
looks like not all installation packages do work. A had good results with a package called black, which installed directly on the device. another package blue with additional folders for voices included did not work with installation path on the card. maybe that is helpful for others as well.
I've Igo8 works fine on my Loox 560.
What I have to do/change for install it on my HD2?
Thanks
Yes it works, got it on my SD card, didnt even have to install it just running it from sd card
Same settings as from my previous touch hd
Yes, works great
In my case I get:
"failed to open file:
"ui_igo8\240_400\loading.bmp"
exiting App."
I changed the 400_240 to 240_400 , it passed the install and runs but I can see only half of the igo!
What can I do?

Is the version u have was working before?
may be the data is not having the required resolution files.
if not, pm me. ill send u link to download working version.
I think you're right, skr_xd. I had the same problem, and was forced to add 800x480 folder to data.
igo8 works fine on the HD2.
You first need to check which resolutions you have on your igo8 Version. Just open the "data.zip" and check the folders in "ui_igo8".
Then you just need to modifiy the "sys.txt" to match the chosen resolution, e.g.
Code:
[rawdisplay]
screen_x=400
screen_y=240
class="landscape"
.
You can leave/comment out the landscape mode if you don't want it.
I have currently 800x480 in landscape mode =)
Try this data.zip it should work
http://www.mediafire.com/?gi0jjo3mzov
If You have PDA version of IGO8,remember that if you change anything in sys.txt,do that on device iGO8 folder,not on card,otherwise you will not change anything(or uninstall IGO8,change sys.txt and then reeinstall,always with a soft reset).
I'd tried everything again and again... doing all your direction - but I'm still lost (no igo...) and desperate.
???
I have another problem...
i can start it and so on.
but once i want to type which city or street.
it goes crazy. like someone try to type super fast all over the letters :s

I have it working like this too but I would like to have it in the Programs menu so I can put it in Quicklinks.
Anyone know how to get it onto quicklinks?
Easiest way to add any program to the today screen I've found so far is:
1)Start Resco file explorer and navigate to the .exe for the program you require a shortcut for.
2)long press on the relevant .exe and from the the menu that pops up select "send to"
3)This pops up another menu where the last item is "Start menu as shortcut"...pick that!
4)Return to the today screen and tap any of your empty shortcut locations (get 20 of them by using "Puremind SP1 Transparency 20 Quicklinks No BG4all_Glass Clock with black digits" like I have) and your program will now be in the list to use!
i have iGo 8 on WinMo and it works fine but when i install it on Android i get a "Please insert your SD card containing iGo 8 content files." is this because the path to the SD card is "/mnt/sdcard/..."? Is there a fix for this yet? or Do we have to wait till NAND? Thanks for all your help
Maybe because igo8 was designed for windows mobile and not android duh. Try igo motonav or igo my way. Dont ask me where to get them. I just know those are made for android. You can just transfer you maps, poi, etc over to the new one.
The problem with iGO for Android is that it is ONLY for HVGA screens yet! no WVGA support for now! The only workaround is to use Motonav which is a redesined iGO for the Motorola phones and WVGA res!
maybe you have license issue with the iGo
only Motonav support WVGA
iGO8 work me, you must have iGO8 folder on the SD card, but it has no 800x600 screen support, so you will see only small screen. Like someone wrote already, MotoNav works great but has very simple UI without special function.
You need to rename the folder "iGo My Way" to
"iGo".
It will work afterwards, though only 1/4 of the screen will be captured, because there are not 800x480 images out there. When I'm driving car, I use WinMob
The best from both WinMob and Android! Hahaha

wat is iGo 8 *??
The problem with that message is that the phone is with plugged in data cable in Mass Storage mode. Either remove the (data) cable from phone or set to other mode (Charge only).
P.S. So many answers on the net and not even 1 (one !!!) helpfull (what a bore ...). I got this problem yesterday and luckily found the solution. Of course, there's always a chance to get this message, if you are using not paid and not cracked version of the problem.
There is a version of iGo My Way for Android which has a 800*480 resolution actually.
I already replied on a thread about the same thing : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9011640#post9011640
Hope this helps.

dont worry. i solved the problem .. basicly you cannot use same igo for WM and android. there has to be igo8 (with all its subfolders) for WM, and separate igo (with same subfolders) for droid .. yes, you have to double everything (maps and buildings that takes up most space) but .. if you use 2 systems on one phone, be ready for double stuff on card too
thank you anyway for responding

You do not need 2 copy's.... let me explain:
Igor for windows has some files in different format e.g. zip.
Ally have to do is copy allthe files that ARE different from android to the same locations as the original. Do not delete existing from either install. Map is shared, poi is shared...
Coals, it all works in both.

Hi,
I followed your instruction from moving the windows IGO8 folder to the root of the sd card and renamed it as IGO (/mnt/sdcard/igo). When I launch IGO (installed IGOMyWay 8.4.2........apk), I have an error message: Missing or incomplete folder: IGO/content/lang
I have checked that the folder IGO/content/lang exists and I have two zip files in the "lang" folder. What did I miss?
