Fast Video Playback - XPERIA X1 General

Okay so lately I have been trying out alot of ROMS and most have been very good! But every ROM i try to watch videos on it's extremly laggy! Atm using Touch IT v.10.2. My videos are mp4 videos: 800 x 480 : 750kbit/s audio 128kbit/s.
Whenever playing it in the default player it's always lagging, not just itje's rom every ROM some reason?
Is there other ROMS (i could get)/settings I should set it to so I can watch videos with no lag at all? It's very fustrating.

is it lagging also in media panel?

What other specific info do you need?
Edit: even if I made the video bit rate to e.g 200 it would still lag a bit!

Nope, still laggy as ever.
I've noticed videos don't lag as much in Windows Media Player.
Is there any way to set videos to play in Windows Media Player by default on itje's roms?

TCPMP Settings

I have TCPMP version 0.72RC1 for pocket PC installed on my 8125. Whenever I go into settings of the player to adjust the equalizer, the music stops. How in the hell can I adjust the equalizer if no music is playing?!! Do I need to install another version or what? The music or music video stops on any selected page, not just the equalizer. Is anyone else having or had this issue?
Thx!

Unfortunately, that may be a problem with your SD card and not TCPMP. I have 2 SD cards and things like that happen sometimes when I'm using one of my cards, but never happens at all when I use the other one. There are times when I use the one card that TCPMP freezes up all together and I have to do a soft reset.

I stand corrected...it's when I'm watching a music video, etc. when it stops playing. Even when I tap on the volume icon in the taskbar. Anyways, I re-installed to main memory and it does the same thing. I'd have to say it's the app, wouldn't you?
If it's a video, then it could be the encoding of the video. Some types work better than others. You could also try changing the buffer size and see if that helps. Other than that, you could try uninstalling it and reinstalling it.

Would you happen to know what I can change the buffering size to? It's currently set at 2400Kb by default.
Right underneath where it says that the buffer size is 2400 theres a microdrive mode that if you select that it will change the buffer to 16000 kb. That's the one I always check, but you can pretty much change the buffer size to any amount you want. I'm not sure that going too much higher than 16000 kb will have much of an effect though above and beyond what you would get if you just set it there.

Thanks for your help Xeno1, but after following your recommendations, TCPMP does the same thing as before. It's only while playing my music videos, mp3s-ok is when it does this. I mean, no matter what I touch stops the video....sound control in taskbar, start menu, etc. I'm just going to find another download link and re-install.

sms speed up? my idea

so, I came across a problem with tcpmp a few weeks ago where the program wouldn't play video at a decent frame rate when installed to the phone storage.
which I find strange as I would have thought that running the program and reading the video from the same source would result in slow down its self!
so my question is, is the internal storage more slow than the memory card and if so could the storage of sms be moved to the sd card for speed improvements.
if this is the case then lots of other things could also be moved to the sd card!
your thoughts ?
hmmm
nobody interested in this?
I would hazard a guess that this is because the phone is running the player from the same source as the video is stored, so it can only access either the program, or the video file at any one time, not both together, so it accesses the system for a second, then the video, then the system, then the video,,, but if the video is on the card, it can access the system and the video at the same time.
that's the point
ill be more through
if the program is installed to the phone storage ie tcpmp installed to phone memory, then when you play a video it jogs! very low fps.
now if you installed the program to the memory card, which is where the video is stored also then its played a full fps
it is much much faster, so this either tells you the memory card can read files quicker than the phone storage or there is a problem with the phone storage talking to main memory.
that's my point! sms takes an age to load if you have more 20 message on the same thread. moving these messages to the storage card permanently may increase loading times of each thread.
try it your self with tcpmp you will get what I mean, the videos I'm using are dvd rips in avi format

thnk you for your help
that's the problem of this phone. it corrupts the xme library in some memory cards that it has problems with. like the one i have. 1gig fat32 formatted. gives so much tension every time i have to put data in it. but works flawlessly in Nokia's.
Not sure if it is a phone problem.. Since I have a 4 GB memory card with approx 2.5 GB Music files. never had any problems whatsoever. BTW, before 'putting' the data, make sure it plays in your PC.
it plays of course :/

It depends on the format of the video / audio file, whether it should play in your mobile or not. To play all kind of videos, you need TCPMP (free) or CorePlayer (Paid). Like you can't play divx or avi file in WMP or the HTC Video Player.
In case of audio files, AFAIK, AAC files are not supported, again for a full range of audio file playability you need some professional player like PocketMusic.
damn...kill me but don't think that i am that much of a fool that i don't know what to do and what files can be played or not... i got core player from the awesomeness way cracked, installed and deleted. cuz i don't need it. i can easily convert and put files into my mobile. either way this problem my love isn't related to formats/**** etc.

Problem with movies being too big to transfer SOLVED!!

If the Movies is too big to transfer just use (HJsplit 3.0) and split the movie in half and then transfer it over to the tab, use wifi explorer pro to transfer it works flawless
they are never too big with adb push

Unlike phone-derived Android, /sdcard on our devices isn't really an SD card. It's actually the exact same partition as /data.
It's just symlinked so that apps which expect /sdcard don't break.
As it's an ext4 partition, it doesn't have the 4GB file size limit of FAT.
This, by the way, is why our tabs don't support USB Mass Storage but instead implement MTP. USB Mass Storage exports the raw block device, MTP operates on files. This allows it to be used when other apps are also using /sdcard, and allows the ext4-ness of /sdcard to get hidden. The disadvantage is that it's far less standardized than USB Mass Storage. MTP seems flaky on our devices, but ADB (Android USB debugging) is nice and solid.

Once you have the movie on your Tab (in a million or so pieces) how do you play it? I have done what you said but I can't get it to play in order -- just plays one file and quits...Please help
just transcode it with handbrake or dvd catalyst - problem solved! entire movie at manageable file size with excellent quality

Just chose the next file i haven't managed to get them to play in order, working on it.
MKV solves ALL of these problems.
Download mkvtoolnix for your OS
This toolset allows you to do the following very easily:
Add any video/audio source to MKV container without compression
Split MKV into any size chunks
MKV split into chunks can be "linked" and if the player fully supports it, it will automagically find the next chunk to be played. I dont think diceplayer supports the link functionality of mkv. Boo hoo you need to pick the other chunk to play when one runs out. Not a deal breaker.

Thanks -- I originally didn't see that you could set the files to a 3GB file and I was just using the default of 1048k.....Now it is only in 3 files instead of a million!!

Windows will not let you FAT32 format anything bigger than 32 Gib, so you will need to use a utility called fat32format - just google it. With that I was able to install a 250 Gb USB SSD drive in my glove compartment!

Read what files?
Playing movies or music is instant, because it only reads a very small part at a time. If you are copying files the size of the drive has nothing to do with throughput. The SSD drive is faster than anything else (USB flash drive or SD card), but the throughput is bottle-necked by the USB2.0 interface.

I meant more like opening the music folder and having to scroll from A to Z and having a lot of music. I'm kind of comparing apples to oranges here, as I'm thinking about my old Kenwood deck. It would take a while to scroll through 50,000 mp3's looking for something. The more I think about it, it is probably more related to the deck than the storage.
I have a 128gb memory stick formatted in fat32. It only take about 5 mins when I 1st connect the memory stick. otherwise it plays instantly, and searching is instant. I use Poweramp as my music player app.
Koush
Nothing on my unit takes 5 minutes, not even 5 seconds. Everything seems to be instant. Of course I don't have 50,000 mp3's and even if I did, I would not dump them into a single folder - I would rather organize them into manageable playlists. The reason I installed the large SSD is because I found myself replacing large chunk of my mp3 collection with VEVO mp4s that I download from YouTube. It seems more fun when you have a head unit capable of playing music videos. Also I have a fairly large collection TTC videos, which can also be listened to.
That's the exact response I was looking for.
You can use what ever you want anything over 32gb you must format from xfat to fat 32 you loose some capacity but not enough to worry about
