Anyone know a good and cheap mount that fits the fuze well? Id like to use a bike computer/gps on it while riding.
Ive looked around on ebay and the web and cant find anything that looks like its sturdy or fits the phone well.
this is for the touch which may not work because its thinner then the fuze

thanks
It's your phone, but this sounds like a really bad idea to me. Rain or the splash from a puddle could be rather expensive, not to mention a crash. I'd just use a cycling computer if I were you.
I mountain bike, and I keep my fuze secure in the ipod pouch of my camelback.
Theres a ton of cases for other phones desigined for this reason that are waterproof and mounted to the bike...finding one that fits is the key. All the real cycle computers/GPS are all upwards of $300 - kinda stupid to spend that much when the phone can do all the same stuff.
plus im putting in on a road bike - nothing off road, the worst bumps i encounter are small curbs

i second this. i do alot of cycling and would like to find a mount instead of having to have it in the phone pouch on my pack. i use gps cycle computer and would love to see my statistics in real time.
this thing looks perfect, just need to double check the dimensions.

Not sure if its worth spending close to $65 though

I just bought this, closest waterproof box to the phones dimensions
http://www.gpscity.com/ram-mount-waterproof-aqua-box-3-atv-utv-strap-mount.html
Couldn't use the standard 1 inch u-bolt because my bikes handlebars are about 3inches, hopefully the strap is just as sturdy.
I also got this 1/2 inch foam pad, the box is an extra .38 inches deeper then the phone. I'll slice it to fit or the extra padding might be able to be compressed to make a real tight fit.
http://www.gpscity.com/ram-mount-aqua-box-3-foam-padding-0.5-inches-thick.html
Came to $60 after using a 10% off promotion code (RAMGUF5285) for ram mounts i found online - not too bad when most other waterproof cases are close to $100 with out the mount.
Ill post some pictures and the result once i install it and go for a test ride or two.

Perfect!! this is exactly what i needed. Its soild as a rock - the bracket and arm are all metal and the case is very strong plastic. It doesnt move or bounce at all when going over big bumps.
The best part about it is that the front of the case is soft clear plastic and the touch screen works through it.
Here are some pictures, hopefully this helps other people.

RAM Mount
+1 on using the RAM mount to attach to handlebars (although I have mine mounted on my motorcycle!) but instead of the aquabox (which I also have to use in the rain) I usually have my phone in a ProClip USA mount. I have the charging version (since I have power available, obviously) but in literally 1000's of miles I've never had my treo, 6700, mogul or now my TP come out of the mount, even with some pretty huge pothole experiences...
Regarding the aquabox, it seems to get pretty hot in there, and I've actually thought about drilling a few small holes to allow some airflow. Has anyone done that?
I have one of these:
http://www.boxit.net/engine.php?cat=327
It's the best solution I could find. You can still operate the touchscreen (including scrolling etc) well when it is in the case.

Can any of the early K-JAM owners confirm what kind of case is shipped in the box? Is it like the belt-clip horizontal case coming with the Jam, or is it different?
Thanks.
I just played with it at a phonestore.
It comes wit a belt like clip holder. Looked allright to me, nearly same as magician bigger
Yeah, way bigger. The K-Jam case is square (not with rounded edges), and way too much extra space at the top.
I'm looking to find that case that sweet Treo 650 case BTT snagged. Went to BestBuy and CompUSA today, nothing like it. Hey, BTT where'd you get that case (I know, a mall, but what store)?
The case isn't very pretty, but it's functional, and has a nice firm front/back to stop anything from smashing your screen. It also makes the device WAY too bulky.
My 2 cents...
Good Points:
1. Full width sewn in magnetic strip on flap makes it very easy to close (i.e not just a small magnetic catch)
2. Access to plug in headphones
3. Spring steel belt clip rather than belt loop, so it can be quickly removed from belt without unbuckling
4. Soft felt inside gives good screen protection
Bad Points:
1. Corners of device exposed, so would be damaged if case is dropped.
2. Case a good bit bigger than it needs to be.
3. Nylon material of case "puckers" a good deal in damp air. Very odd..!
4. Case is a bit too ridged, making it hard to extract the device.
Regards
Chris

That case looks pretty terrible :\
If that picture is for the shipped case,it looks very pretty nice to me .
Wow, it is huge!!! Definitely too bulky (too thick), it will make you look like pregnant if you wear a pullover....!
A definite step back from the very useable case provided with the Jam.
We definitely need someone to come up with a very skinny case for the belt... Any company working on this?

I'm in New Jersey.
The mall I bought it from is called Menlo Park Mall in Edison, NJ.
The kiosk is in the middle of the mall and the manufacturer is called Bytech.

Piel Frama's case for the Wiz should be out next week according to the email I got from them last night. Look at their site towards 27-OCT or so and see if it is listed...
Excellent! I was really hoping Piel Frama would come out with a case. I love my hx4700 Piel Frama case!
To make the device easier to extract from the case it shipped with I found it convenient to utillize the end of the lanyard that shipped with my Motorola HS-810 headset. It detatches from the lanyard, leaving a piece of looped line with a plastic piece. looping it through the provided point on the lower left corner of the device. Doing this results in a handy place to grab hold of the device and extract it from the case.

I think you view of the shipped case will depend on your origins ;-) The case probably is bigger and bulkier than it needs to be, but if like me you have been used to lugging round an xda 1, an xda 2 and then the xda 2s, you will probably be pleased how compact this is And of course its free!
I personally hope that EB Cases will produce a smalller version of the horizontal soft leather case with belt loop or clip, that they make for the xda. I used it for 3 years all three of my xda's and its still going strong. Not bad for $30.00 !
I saw couple posts asking for these hard cover snap on covers. Hope this helps.

I just got mine the other day from eBay, and the front face doesn't fit all the way on or stay on. I'm going to have to return it and find another one.
I've finally tested this case for more than 10 minutes and I really hate the fact that the edges are not beveled in, making it extremely hard to use my fingers to press the softkeys on the screen, onscreen scrolling and some slight awkwardness when pressing the outside buttons.
Mine was also made of white plastic, so it has this ugly white lip around the edges.
After removing my BodyGuardz skin, the case fits snugly and is very hard to remove (I accidentally cracked the lower piece while removing)
Oh well, you get what you pay for. Time to read up on Seidio cases
http://www.wirelessaccessories.com/... 8925 - TyTN II - Kaiser&sfid=134039&c=164107
I've used these for my last 2 devices. I don't recommend the rubberized as they scrape up easy. While you get what you pay for ($5.95 + ship) so I buy several. I prefer the protection from scratches and ease of use . It does make getting to buttons a little harder, I agree.
I went on Ebay and got a clear one for around $4 shipped. looks decent, works, only thing about the clear ones is that dust tends to collect under them and phone looks dirtier. a quick clean and back to new. i dont recomend dropping the phone using the case, but in all honesty i dont recommend droping the phone all together.
Hey everybody,
I've tried searching (using the Google and built in search) for this information, but doesn't seem to be anywhere (unless I'm using the wrong search terms). Anyway, I've been thinking of buying something to mount my Vario III on my bike to make use of the GPS for ages, but have struggled to find anything that would suit what I want. For some reason today I started to look again, and I found this Herbert Richter bike mount, which looks pretty good, but I'm not sure whether it will fit.
http://www.pdahut.com/store/product.php?productid=19130&cat=1936&page=1
The problem I've got is that I want to mount it on the stem, instead of the actual handlebar (I'm talking bicycle, not motorbike ) and I'm not sure whether this would fit something with that big of a diameter. The specs on here have a couple of measurements in, but none of them seem to make any sense to me
Does anybody else already have one of these, or maybe any other suggestions about mounting on the stem? My handlebar space is already taken up by bike computer, heart rate monitor and tri-bar extensions, so I'm a bit stuck!
Thanks in advance for any help or advice
I don't have the mount you mentioned, but I have considered it. It doesn't offer any protection for PDA, which is a must for me.
As for attaching out Kaisers to our bikes, have a look at this and this thread.
I am currently waiting for my Otterbox case to arrive, which I will (somehow) attach to my bike.
I've had a look at the threads you mentioned, but these aren't really what I'm looking for. The one on the Modaco board with pictures is close, but the Otterbox you mentioned is simply too big.
I'm not after anything like shock protection or particularly worried about dropping it. I'd like to waterproof the phone, which I think I've got covered, so I'm just after a way of mounting it to my bike safely now.

In that case you might be interested in a case I have originally bought to mount to my bike - PDAir Aluminium case ( http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_900000_11000164&products_id=6561 ). It has a screw at the back, so it should be possible to attach it to a bike. I was in a bike shop with the case and found a cheap holder (originally designed for bike light) that would fit, but just didn't seem massive enough for me.

Would you mind if I ask you how? (I mean how did you waterproof your phone and what is your overall solution so far).
I am using the Krusell setup for this exact purpose. I like the fact that I can buy multiple different mounts to work with the case. i.e. belt/bike/etc.
Here is a pic of it on my bike

I don't know how the Original Poster waterproofed his phone, but this is pretty fullproof http://www.skins-mobile.com/. I've seen them for sale on eBay.
I've ordered the mobile skins that sonus linked in the previous post to handle the waterproofing. They haven't arrived yet, so I haven't been able to test them. I might just go with a clear food bag or something, you know the type that presses together (I think maybe zip-lock to Americans?) at the top, but I'll see how the skins work and how comfortable I am using them
So all that's left is the mount, and from the 2 people I've e-mailed about the Herbert Richter mount I've been told:
1) Product is packaged, so can only say that it fits motorbike bars too (completely useless)
2) Fits bars up to 25mm diameter (seems a bit small to me)

Would be definitely too small for the stem on my bike.
Ok, well the Mobile Skins arrived to protect my phone, and... well... I think I'm gonna go the food bag route. Sure, they protect the phone from water really well, but they weren't really big enough to easily fit over the phone, and I wasn't that comfortable "slipping it on"
Plus, a food bag will be much easier to re-use, and a lot cheaper, plus it'll be clear so I can see the screen properly instead of struggling through the yellow mobile skin (the screen seemed to lose a lot of brightness).
I still haven't had chance to measure my stem on my bike for the mount or anything, but hopefully over the weekend I'll be able to get out (weather permitting) and try a few things!
All working fine on the handlebars here.
I initially tried a Krusell case and mount but when I found the case flap securing clip obstructed my TyTN IIs Ext USB port so I couldn't plug in my wired headphones while it was in the case closed, I returned that gear.
I now have a Herbert Richter bike mount like the one initially referenced (I bought the phone holder and handlebar clamp together) and despite initial reservations it works perfectly clamped around my handlebar but there's no way it'd fit around the stem. Although the holder is uncushioned and just made of smooth plastic, it's left no scratches behind on my TyTN II (original HTC model) case. I presume this is because the HTC version has a rubberised coating on the back/battery cover. I don't know how it would go with the Vodafone V1615's shiny plastic back though.
I was also concerned that the TyTN II may fly out the front under heavy braking but so far its remained firmly in place (perhaps assisted by the rubberised backing). My bike is electrically assisted (it's a Giant Twist) but there seems to be no interference with the TyTN II GPS and Tomtom Navigator 6 and all seems to be working fine together. It's worth it seeing the surprised pedestrians after they hear navigation directions coming from a bike
Skins are Cool!
These Mobile Skins are so cool. I purchased a few 3-packs and I need more. I found a site called www.skinsmobileusa.com in the US. I found out this is the only place to find them. They provide great mobile protection. I do a lot of surfing and now I can at least take my phone to the beach. Skins keeps out the sand and water as long as I am there.
lesson learnt last night, dont ride a bike in the dark while looking at the phone (checking route on gps) bike went one way, i went another and phone slid along pavement about 30ft. phone works ok but case badly scratched new case is on order.
ok, so what i need is a hard case, plastic or aluminium which will cover phone with extended (double thickness) battery. yes, i searched already.
Where did you get the case? I find it nowhere.

Try this;

I'm currently looking into adapting this case to mount to the bars or stem like a standard cycling computer, so I can use my TyTN2 as a do-it-all device for mountainbiking. I'll obviously need the extended battery to use it in this capacity (GPS navigation and datalogging, Bluetooth MP3, calls and text, etc) which this case can support, as well as being quite protective. I was thinking it could ride safely like this;

i have the seidio case, and it's actually "yes" and "no" in terms of battery compatability. the outer case will only fit over the replacement back included with the seido battery, or a back that isn't larger than the seidio back i guess. but any extended battery you can fit under the seido replacement back will do (i use both mugen and a sedio extended batteries under the back)
it doesn't have something to cover hte screen, but it does give more depth to the surrounding ridges, and maybe a screen protector can help with the rest...
the boxwave looked interesting, and i was about to go for it, but i notice that it has a bump only for the battery, which closes down at the caemra and speaker area. that means a different type of back is needed for that also.
at the moment, i am just using the seidio rubberized case over the seidio replacement back. when i travel, i've had a leatherworker modify a leather case (one of those that provides full access to the keyboard etc. but has a flap to cover the screen when not in use) for me to fit around the extended dimensions, but i guess this is not what you need.
@Barkleyfan: cheers, the boxwave one with screen cover looks to be just what i need.
have thought several times of mounting on bike like that, would be ok for road use, but then i remember how many times i have seen my bike bouncing down a hill on its own and me on the deck usually i keep the phone attached on a lanyard and in a padded case fixed on my backpack shoulder strap, but would feel better if it was also in aluminium case. i think mounted on the bars like that is just asking to get broken.
My riding is getting conservative these days, so I don't worry about wrecking hard enough to hurt it. I worry more about a splash from a creek or something.
@Barkleyfan "I was thinking it could ride safely like this" down the side of the snow covered mountain, and you call that conservative. i am not in your league, that would scare to **** out of me! or... is that not your bike
lol Nah, that's not my bike. That's Jill Homers bike. This is mine;

I'm looking for a carrying pouch for my phone.
The type I"m looking for is one that has loops for my belt to pass through. My impression is that the pouch with the loop for the belt to pass through is more secure than the clip-on pouch. I volunteer at a ambulance corp and theres a lot of running around and equipment carrying and things like that. Last thing I want happening is me squatting and accidentally squeezing the release trigger of the pouch with my thigh and upperbody only to have my phone fall off.
Can anyone recommend a good case for under $15 that has what I"m looking for?
Thanks
I too am looking for one of these. Let us know if you find one. At the moment I am using a Kathmandu camera case.

fits just nice...
how is it? the quality and everything of it?
look up 'Golla' bags on ebay. they are cheap because a lot of them couldn't be sold (not many American retailers carry this brand) so the overstock goes on ebay. however, they are of good quality and the current one i've been using for a few years. the brand specialize in making/ selling bags of all kind. check it out

I use this when I need my phone to stay put on my belt while I'm doing something strenuous. The steel belt loop is nearly indestructible, and the Velcro takes a long time to wear out.

You my good man are a legend!
If you had ANY idea how long i've been searching and searching for somethine like this for my TP you'd be shocked!lol
this seems to fit the bill perfectly, will post back once my 'Golla Ruutu Brown' arrives!
cheers dude!
I just upgraded from the 6800 to the Touch Pro today at my local Radio Shack and got a case as well that has a good strong metal clip, both horizontal & vertical belt loops, as well as a small carabiner and pen loop on it. The flap secures with Velcro, but it has a buckle on it to help keep it securely fastened. I do a lot of biking (the mountain kind, not the motor kind) and needed a good case that wouldn't leave my phone in the middle of the woods somewhere. I think this one is almost perfect. The phone fits in snug, yet not too snug. The only way I would say it would be better would be if it had a softer lining inside it, it's not made for touch screens. Would recommend a screen protector, which you have on anyways, right? Thought so. ;-) Here is the manufacture's page for it. The model # is CI-RUGGED-MB. Only cost around $12, but it was at Radio Shack, and they charge over $100 for a 120GB hard drive that you can get on newegg for $30-40...
If you want a really goood case for under 15 bucks, i reccomend buying
this case from wireless emporium. Ive been using it for almost a year now, and it is extremely sturdy and durable, and only for 13 bucks, i LOVE it.
The best part is FREE shipping and you get it within a 7 days!
