lesson learnt last night, dont ride a bike in the dark while looking at the phone (checking route on gps) bike went one way, i went another and phone slid along pavement about 30ft. phone works ok but case badly scratched new case is on order.
ok, so what i need is a hard case, plastic or aluminium which will cover phone with extended (double thickness) battery. yes, i searched already.
Where did you get the case? I find it nowhere.
My battery cover was damaged, please share the link if you find it somewhere.
got one off ebay. some have htc logo, some dont. search for 'HOUSING COVER Kaiser'.
also try http://cnn.cn/shop/p4550-tytn-kaiser-c-277_447.html
edit: you only want battery cover? how about google 'kaiser battery cover', that might work ;-)
Check here -> www.seidio.com
is this the case?
http://www.seidioonline.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=CSR2YCG8925X-BK&Show=ExtInfo
it says its only for seido batteries and mine is an unbranded double thickness one.
standard battery is 5mm and mine is 11mm thick. also it doesnt look like it protects the screen, i only need to see the screen.
still looking.....

Try this;
http://www.boxwave.com/products/armorcase/armor-case-htc-tytn-ii_2905.htm
I'm currently looking into adapting this case to mount to the bars or stem like a standard cycling computer, so I can use my TyTN2 as a do-it-all device for mountainbiking. I'll obviously need the extended battery to use it in this capacity (GPS navigation and datalogging, Bluetooth MP3, calls and text, etc) which this case can support, as well as being quite protective. I was thinking it could ride safely like this;

i have the seidio case, and it's actually "yes" and "no" in terms of battery compatability. the outer case will only fit over the replacement back included with the seido battery, or a back that isn't larger than the seidio back i guess. but any extended battery you can fit under the seido replacement back will do (i use both mugen and a sedio extended batteries under the back)
it doesn't have something to cover hte screen, but it does give more depth to the surrounding ridges, and maybe a screen protector can help with the rest...
the boxwave looked interesting, and i was about to go for it, but i notice that it has a bump only for the battery, which closes down at the caemra and speaker area. that means a different type of back is needed for that also.
at the moment, i am just using the seidio rubberized case over the seidio replacement back. when i travel, i've had a leatherworker modify a leather case (one of those that provides full access to the keyboard etc. but has a flap to cover the screen when not in use) for me to fit around the extended dimensions, but i guess this is not what you need.
@Barkleyfan: cheers, the boxwave one with screen cover looks to be just what i need.
have thought several times of mounting on bike like that, would be ok for road use, but then i remember how many times i have seen my bike bouncing down a hill on its own and me on the deck usually i keep the phone attached on a lanyard and in a padded case fixed on my backpack shoulder strap, but would feel better if it was also in aluminium case. i think mounted on the bars like that is just asking to get broken.
My riding is getting conservative these days, so I don't worry about wrecking hard enough to hurt it. I worry more about a splash from a creek or something.
@Barkleyfan "I was thinking it could ride safely like this" down the side of the snow covered mountain, and you call that conservative. i am not in your league, that would scare to **** out of me! or... is that not your bike
lol Nah, that's not my bike. That's Jill Homers bike. This is mine;

Can any of the early K-JAM owners confirm what kind of case is shipped in the box? Is it like the belt-clip horizontal case coming with the Jam, or is it different?
Thanks.
I just played with it at a phonestore.
It comes wit a belt like clip holder. Looked allright to me, nearly same as magician bigger
Yeah, way bigger. The K-Jam case is square (not with rounded edges), and way too much extra space at the top.
I'm looking to find that case that sweet Treo 650 case BTT snagged. Went to BestBuy and CompUSA today, nothing like it. Hey, BTT where'd you get that case (I know, a mall, but what store)?
The case isn't very pretty, but it's functional, and has a nice firm front/back to stop anything from smashing your screen. It also makes the device WAY too bulky.
My 2 cents...
Good Points:
1. Full width sewn in magnetic strip on flap makes it very easy to close (i.e not just a small magnetic catch)
2. Access to plug in headphones
3. Spring steel belt clip rather than belt loop, so it can be quickly removed from belt without unbuckling
4. Soft felt inside gives good screen protection
Bad Points:
1. Corners of device exposed, so would be damaged if case is dropped.
2. Case a good bit bigger than it needs to be.
3. Nylon material of case "puckers" a good deal in damp air. Very odd..!
4. Case is a bit too ridged, making it hard to extract the device.
Regards
Chris

That case looks pretty terrible :\
If that picture is for the shipped case,it looks very pretty nice to me .
Wow, it is huge!!! Definitely too bulky (too thick), it will make you look like pregnant if you wear a pullover....!
A definite step back from the very useable case provided with the Jam.
We definitely need someone to come up with a very skinny case for the belt... Any company working on this?

I'm in New Jersey.
The mall I bought it from is called Menlo Park Mall in Edison, NJ.
The kiosk is in the middle of the mall and the manufacturer is called Bytech.

Piel Frama's case for the Wiz should be out next week according to the email I got from them last night. Look at their site towards 27-OCT or so and see if it is listed...
Excellent! I was really hoping Piel Frama would come out with a case. I love my hx4700 Piel Frama case!
To make the device easier to extract from the case it shipped with I found it convenient to utillize the end of the lanyard that shipped with my Motorola HS-810 headset. It detatches from the lanyard, leaving a piece of looped line with a plastic piece. looping it through the provided point on the lower left corner of the device. Doing this results in a handy place to grab hold of the device and extract it from the case.

I think you view of the shipped case will depend on your origins ;-) The case probably is bigger and bulkier than it needs to be, but if like me you have been used to lugging round an xda 1, an xda 2 and then the xda 2s, you will probably be pleased how compact this is And of course its free!
I personally hope that EB Cases will produce a smalller version of the horizontal soft leather case with belt loop or clip, that they make for the xda. I used it for 3 years all three of my xda's and its still going strong. Not bad for $30.00 !
I didn't want a transformers style carkit for my Kaiser so I bought a magnet off ebay for a PDA - the Krusell one for £4, it comes with a thin metal plate you attach to the back of your kaiser and the magnet you attach to your dash. Well, it takes a lot to impress me and I must say it looks the business, also means you can have the Kaiser where you want it and not cradled low down. By chance I had my Tomtom Go wired in the dash from the cig adaptor and it's the same fitting, so a bit of re-routing and I have a carkit for £4 and 10 minutes of my time....priceless.
I'll post some pics when it's light ok.
Thank you for sharing, also will you please post the eBay auction you bought it from?
thanks
dont forget the pics. I think that might be a simple way of using the phone in the car
Here's a similar item on ebay - item no 160199677279
Total price incl postage is £5.50 (it's a UK item) - the full description is KRUSELL QUICKMOUNTER MAGNET MAGNETIC PHONE HOLDER
Pics soon ok.
They also sell this at sfplanet here in the States. Bought all my Krussel stuff from them and they ship fast and are not too expensive. Think this is what he's talking about...

Can someone find a pic or maybe even take a pic of what this looks like when it's attached to the phone? As I've said in a previous post, I'm pretty leery of gluing anything to my baby. Maybe when I get my Seidio kit I'll stick one on that.
It's gonna take some convincing though.

Just for info...
Be aware that the sliding keyboard uses a magnetic detector to operate and if you suffer strange turn-ons (take a cold shower! ) you made need to use S2U2 or Kaiser Tweaks to disable it.
Same goes for some cases that have magnetic catches, they can sometimes turn your phone on inside the case when inserting.
OK, as promised:-

I don't actually own one of these, so I cannot tell you for sure, but from everything I have read and understand, nothing actually attaches to the back of the phone. The powerful magnet attaches to your dash and then just holds your phone there through magnetic attraction to the battery through the plastic cover.

As long as there are no issues with keyboard sensor (sliding sensor), I would be all over this. I like the clean look.

prob is that you cannot tilt your phone in any way with this...
i gotta say it is a nice solution if you have a spot on your dash that is a good angle for your phone... i dont though so i have to get a mount with an actuating arm.
Haven't got a pic of the back sorry, with the krusell kit you get a very thin (1mm) plate which you apply to the back case of the Kaiser. This acts as the bond to the magnet. The instructions say you can place this plate inside your battery cover but their isn't enough clearance on the kaiser - it's hardly noticeable anyway.
I've been using mine now for 3 weeks and no problems, the magnet holds fantastic, the kaiser never falls off or moves when mounted. Best carkit I ever had.
Man, I'd love to see a picture of the back of the Kaiser with the plate on it.

This might ruin it for me, but I would have to see a picture. The price for the thing is very nice, but I don't really want to stick something onto my phone.
Hey! Anyone found out how to repaint X1? I mainly mean battery cover. From black X1 the paint is scratching off and it looks ugly. Any good paint that will mask it? Any solution? I don't want to have black and silver-scratchy coloured X1 and I think nobody wants. Some solutions?
well i think since it is steel u can take it to a paint shop for cars he will max a mix n paint it for u im thinking of doing so 2..but i dnt get it why is it only the back cover not the front also but thank God only the back..btw i take good care of this phone i dnt have anyidea why....
i have 2 "dots" on front panel also.. they're about 1/3 mm wide.
Same problem with black battery cover.
I thought of getting a can of metal black paint for car / bike etc.
New cover on EBay goes for about 15 UK pounds!
This is the worst thing about the X1 one really. I hate how the back cover looses all of it's paint so easily! Even the Xperia logo on the back is starting to come of and that really sucks so badly. And I am so glad that the front is not that bad, that would be a disaster!
But good luck re-painting and come back with the result if you do re-paint it!
I was fed up with the scratches on my X1 battery cover, so I used a buffing tool to remove the paint completely.. Nice brushed steel effect now! I'll probably spray it black at some point, but from what I can tell, the paint should take pretty easily if you key the surface well enough.
I did the same thing with my old iPod when the back of that got scratched. Just used some metallic car paint. Primed it first, then sprayed one coat on, then added 2 layers of clear. The clearcoat is important, because whilst it gives it a glossy finish, it also means the scratches don't show up half as much.
I wrote an Email to SE that my battery cover looks worse even if i have my X1 always in my leather case. One week later there was a new battery cover with me

I did too buyt hey simply said I should go to the supplier of the phone, they could not say if I would pay in or be replaced for free
wouldnt painting the cover make it 10x uglier since it will not be consistant with the rest of the body
why dont you just mask the battery cover black or something?
or buy a new cover!
use any automobile aerosole paint
in our country that method works : )

HI
I painted mine today. Bought can of black metal spray paint with a satin finish. I placed a cutom cut sticker over the silver 'XPERIA' title and 'Xi'.
Then I REMOVED the battery cover and took it outside for painting (NB remove it from the phone before you paint )
I looks great. I am still debating putting on a clear coat . . .
Cost about $3 and 5 min - excluding time allowed for drying . . .
Could you post any photo of your repainted X1?
I have done this. Here is a picture:
I borrowed my roommate's spray paint that he uses to paint his models with (matte black). I didn't bother taping anything because I didn't care much for the XPERIA text and figured that taping it would make it easier to chip and less resilient.
So far it has been great, looks 100% consistent with the rest of the back except that it isn't quite as "soft-touch."
Please do disregard the teddy bear.
It looks great! Shame it isn't possible to get that "polished metal" effect as on original cover...
Yes, I was debating on whether to get a new battery cover and apply a film protector on it or just spray paint it.
In the interest of money, I chose to paint over it and am very pleased. I was especially happy that the Sony Ericsson engraving remained intact and looks perfect even on close inspection. No one unfamiliar with the normal battery cover of the XPERIA could tell it was painted..
Anyone know a good and cheap mount that fits the fuze well? Id like to use a bike computer/gps on it while riding.
Ive looked around on ebay and the web and cant find anything that looks like its sturdy or fits the phone well.
this is for the touch which may not work because its thinner then the fuze

It's your phone, but this sounds like a really bad idea to me. Rain or the splash from a puddle could be rather expensive, not to mention a crash. I'd just use a cycling computer if I were you.
I mountain bike, and I keep my fuze secure in the ipod pouch of my camelback.
Theres a ton of cases for other phones desigined for this reason that are waterproof and mounted to the bike...finding one that fits is the key. All the real cycle computers/GPS are all upwards of $300 - kinda stupid to spend that much when the phone can do all the same stuff.
plus im putting in on a road bike - nothing off road, the worst bumps i encounter are small curbs

I just bought this, closest waterproof box to the phones dimensions
http://www.gpscity.com/ram-mount-waterproof-aqua-box-3-atv-utv-strap-mount.html
Couldn't use the standard 1 inch u-bolt because my bikes handlebars are about 3inches, hopefully the strap is just as sturdy.
I also got this 1/2 inch foam pad, the box is an extra .38 inches deeper then the phone. I'll slice it to fit or the extra padding might be able to be compressed to make a real tight fit.
http://www.gpscity.com/ram-mount-aqua-box-3-foam-padding-0.5-inches-thick.html
Came to $60 after using a 10% off promotion code (RAMGUF5285) for ram mounts i found online - not too bad when most other waterproof cases are close to $100 with out the mount.
Ill post some pictures and the result once i install it and go for a test ride or two.

Perfect!! this is exactly what i needed. Its soild as a rock - the bracket and arm are all metal and the case is very strong plastic. It doesnt move or bounce at all when going over big bumps.
The best part about it is that the front of the case is soft clear plastic and the touch screen works through it.
Here are some pictures, hopefully this helps other people.

RAM Mount
+1 on using the RAM mount to attach to handlebars (although I have mine mounted on my motorcycle!) but instead of the aquabox (which I also have to use in the rain) I usually have my phone in a ProClip USA mount. I have the charging version (since I have power available, obviously) but in literally 1000's of miles I've never had my treo, 6700, mogul or now my TP come out of the mount, even with some pretty huge pothole experiences...
Regarding the aquabox, it seems to get pretty hot in there, and I've actually thought about drilling a few small holes to allow some airflow. Has anyone done that?
I have one of these:
http://www.boxit.net/engine.php?cat=327
It's the best solution I could find. You can still operate the touchscreen (including scrolling etc) well when it is in the case.

x2 Best case in the WORLD.
I use a screen protector for better haptic feeling while scrolling and better visibility in bright light (reflections) - and no more fingerprint smearing. And I keep the HD2 in it's stock pouch for additional protection. It's still very slim in it's pouch but quite well protected for the thinness of this little bag This way my phone still looks like new although I wear it in my pocket at work everyday.
Nah I don't bother, dropped it several times and not a scratch (touch wood). I don't like the idea of a rubber casing that I have to remove if I need access to the battery / reset button. I'll just claim on the insurance if I damage it
Ive got a tad bit different capdase case found here
http://www.capdase.com/en/product5.php?cid=1&bid=5&mid=321&pid=5156
-quick to put on and take off
-metallic backing that covers the corners for extra protection
-light weight and slim (hardly noticeable)
-rubber liner that surrounds device to snug case on (excellent quality)

theres finally a otterbox for our hd2's
found here
http://www.capdase.com/en/product5.php?cid=1&bid=5&mid=321&pid=5156
-not so quick to put on and take off (two layers have to be put on separately)
-plastic over rubber layers - but corners of device only covered by rubber
-light weight and not so slim - phone feels a tad bulky
-rubber liner that surrounds device also covers the keys (yay) but in doing so, block out the keypad led lights... (NAY)
IMO the capdase case is the way to go.
the otterbox looks awsome but it doesent protect the corners
i'm waiting for zagg to develop a leather skyn for the hd2

WTF? explain please, i never heard of a phone having a health bar
i´m just kidding man
i hate cases, it makes the phone ugly..
i didnt use a case since i have my hd2 now (7 months ) only one little scratch wich u dont really notice.
u dont need to use a case, its not only ugly, it is not even necessary
I use a leather case that I got off the bay for £3.99 yes I know it's sad but when my phones last me around 6 months I thought I best protect this one
In the past I have managed to drop a month old phone in a pint of cider, ran one over with a skip lorry, dog has eaten one, lost one in a flood when stuck in my car the list goes on.
Hang on come to think of it a case is not going to save my phone
i use the original one that comes with it ,fro 6 monthes now without an single scratch msa
