No you can't flash a HTC Artemis / XDA Orbit 1 phone with a HTC Polaris / XDA Orbit II firmware. If you visit the Artemis section of the forums you will find some ROMS for that phone.

Having read several posts on the subject, & being in the same boat, both with O2 & the fact that I will be returning to the US soon, I'm wondering if the XDA II could be flashed with the XDA Developers 1.2 rom (has an unlocker built-in) then if that works, reflash it with the original ROM that came on the device... XDA I's will take PPC2002 & WM 2003 so why not the reverse. Thoughts anyone ??

The ROM cam be find in the ftp.
go to the Wiki (look at the top of this page) and from there look for Artemis which is another name for HTC, known as well as Orbit, XDA Compact III etc....
