Hi!
I use XDA1 (O2) and try to upgrade several version of Windows 2003se,
Windows 2003 from romkitchen. Upgrade was succesfull, all works perfect exept TomTom, I use it without GPS just for map browsing,
after several seconds, TomTom start working very slowly,
about 1000x times slower, for example show route demo screen updated 5-10x times per second, now updated 2 per minutes.
Its not possible to work with that speed.
Is any upgrade of TomTom(I use v.5.21 27/11/05 orig 4/11/05) present or any incompatible software included in rom update that can cause this problem? If I roll back to PC2002 all works perfect again.
please help me
Leon

TTN 5.21 Windows Mobile 2003
HLEP ME!!!
Can anyone suggest me, what version of Windows Mobile 2003 i can use, I tryed several versions, but all of them make TomTom Navigator very slowly, may be it possible to use additional software to resolve problem? I use TomTom without GPS, may be this fact causing problem and I need to install some GPS software or select specific type of GPS device in the TomTom Settings.
Seems like after selecting GPS device TTM start working extra slowly.
Can anyone suggest what version of TTM to use, what version of Windows mibile 2003,and what is GPS software need to be installed?
thank you for answer,
hope on the help
Leon
p.s. my email debarcadereamoi at ifrance.com in case if you be able send binaries, of TTM or GPS software
I've installed tha last ship ROM from DOPODAsia and sometimes my TomTom 6.02 will not respond to the touchscreen. I've to minimize it and then re-open in full screen and it will return to work.
mmmm... this rom is not very perfect IMHO
Tomtom 6.030
Hello
I have the same probleme with tomtom 6.030 and 6.010, 6.020 and 6.100
Perhaps htc rom will be corrige this probleme.
@++
on my side I have also tomtom 6
I have also a freeze but only during few seconds and only at the start of tomtom (during the 1st minute of usage of tomtom)
But for the moment I use tomtom without GPS ... just waiting for a new ROM
I also experienced these freezes with TomTom 6 and the latest official dopod image. So I downgraded to the latest test version which doesn't have this problem. Have quick fixes and both 6.02 and 6.03 are working fine. The only difference i noticed after installing 6.03 is that TomTom added a new GPS device called "built in gps receiver" which is now automatically selected. No probs here
Config u are using longfellow

Hello, initially had the latest test version of Dopod installed with TomTom 6.02 as GPS receiver I had chosen "other bluetooth receiver" and I used com 9 for this device in the settings ( just tapped with stylus on the black line in the gps settings, secon option) first fix took appr 6 min. Everthing went fine no freezes etc. I didnot have the gps reg hack nor did I have the gps icon in my settings. Everything went ok. After that I installed the official rom on monday just after its release. Installed the same TT6.02 same config. Then I became freezes too. So I installed 6.03 after that (on orig rom) with the settings for built in GPS receiver which is chosen automatically on Trinity btw. Same problems.
Which made me decide to go back to latest test rom, here i have now running TT6.03 which automatically puts the built in GPS receiver on COM9 & GPD1 (saw that after I performed the reg hack to get the GPS icon in my settings/access). Mostly i have the initial fix within 1 min! And absolutely NO freezes or slowing down in TT which I suffered with the official rom. So I suspect this official rom of some bugs because all other conditions in which i installed were the same.
Hope this will help. Btw I have a HTC P3600.
I have, on all occasions in which you can choose, installed TomTom6 on 1 GB minisdcard, nothing in PDA mem! Noticed that TT6.03 autom sets baudrate at 115200, but you can only see that after you perform the reg hack.
Just checked my rom that I use now, and see that it is not the latest version but it is version RUU_Trinity_DOPODASIA_WWE_1.23.707.2_6275_1.29.00.11_108_Test.exe.
Today i think i found out why my tom tom 6.030 sometimes hangs (if i quit and reenter tt everything works fine again).
So today I reinstalled my device at the office and also tomtom...
Came home from work and tt did not block any more...
Happy i transferred the radars to my device...
This evening i tested once again and it blocked again....
deleted my radars and warnings and it didn't block any more...
anyone who has the "application hanginging" problem: have u installed the radars...?
will do more testing the next days?

You may tried another memory card, cos i had the same problem with another device before ( also using tomtom 6, ) , then i just use another memory card, it work..
so after more tests I can definitely say that when I enable the poi and the warnings my Tomtom blocks....
if I disable them everything works fine....
I also tried with another minisdcard and another map...
the only thing I'm thinking of is that the radar poi are in some way corrupt?
just to throw another theory into the mix.....
I've been using tt6.01 on the original HTC wwe rom and now the lastest gps enabled rom, never had a lockup. Was just using the UK map.
Yesterday installed the complete western europe map, now get lockups when using this map. Switch back to UK and it's fine again.
I have also this problem. I press the green button, phone opens, i close it with my stylus.
After that TOM² opens, en it all works fine.
i've noticed the same like DREWY.
the last weeks i used only my germany-map. tomtom freezes only one time.
now i updated my tomtom an installed the germany-swiss-austria map.
now tomtom locks up very often.
my theory:
the maps are to big, an the trinity/tomtom can not handle this big maps.
More info about this "freezing" problem...
I've updated my spanish Trinity with the new/cooked english ROM... WITHOUT any problem working with TomTom 6.03 (radars activated, etc) using external (Bluetooth) GPS.
Working with the internal GPS... and with two miniSD different... a LOT of problems. It's impossible to run properly for more than 10 minutes. Not any problem using OZI, for example with any GPS (Bluetooth or the Internal one).
Somebody has tested it TomTom+internal GPS working with the french ROM (Orange one)?
Hello,
I use french Orange ROM on SPV M700 with internal GPS + TT6.100, the whole works fine since one month.
I use Western Europe map with traffic info activated.
Thank you Rahan for the info
I've just test my "New" french Trinity and NOW I don't have any problem with TomTom and the internal GPS
Probably, there was an instalation problem in my previous "english" Trinity. I'm going to restart from the beginning converting my "French" P3600 to an "english" one
---
The problem is the cooked ROM..because after installing it... TomTom DOESN'T WORK properly It works with Bluetooth GPS and with the Orange/french ROM (internal and external GPS)...but with this ROM (and with the GPS fix, etc)... NOT
All,
I understand that the Herald does not support TomTom Nav 6. In your expert opinion, will the application ever run on the Herald, given the lower processor clock speed on this device?
How about other navigation software?
I'm seriously considering buying a Herald, but some time in the next 12 months, would really like GPS with Navigation software as well.
Many thanks to all who reply.
James.
I have been running TomTom 6 on my Herald since I bought it, no problems at all.
I also run TomTom6 with no problem on my herald.
TomTom 6 starts when turning on phone
Hallo,
Installed TomTom 6 on my Herald. Works fine but....
Everytime i turn on the phone TomTom starts by itself. Any suggestions how to correct this?
thanx in advance
Not regarding TomTom but "Other Navigator Apps":
My experience with Navigon MN6 (6.15) was reaaally bad. It was so slow that you could not use it.
Screen refresh rate was about 1 fps, although voice commands were almost in time. I had a few other apps installed, but not many (phoneAlarm, SPB Mobile Shell, Pocket Informant 7).
Can anyone confirm if MN6 is generally so slow on the P4350? My ROM version is 5.4.407.1 GER, which I think is one of the latest (apart from WM6).
iGo Myway 2006 works fine, no problems at all.
MN6 is a heavy application. Other apps as spb mobile shell en pocket informant are to. Used them and uninstalled them. The herald is a 200mhz thingie ;-) TomTom Nav 6 is ok. Overclocked to 247mhz and everything works fine. Apart from the "I start myself actions from TomTom" ;-)
Yes, MN6 is quite heavy as all the previous versions of Navigon have been.
But I can't see how PI7 or Mobile Shell can make it slower, when they are not running. As long as they are not running they should not consume any CPU time, right? And memory was not the issue with MN6, I checked available mem before starting MN6 and it was well over 25 MB free (data+program store), which should be sufficient - at least it was on my MDA Pro.
But for me that was the only disappointing experience with the Herald so far.
I just compared MN5 and TomTom6 with my P4350.
I liked the highly detailed Maps of MN5 better than TomToms BUT TomTom has the better features:
MN5 does not turn on bluetooth for GPS automaticaly.
Very annonyingly, MN5 does not disable hibernate and sleepmodes of WindowsMobile automaticaly. The usage of the PDA-Pen ist mandatory to mess with MN5. Menues and UI-Layout is a whole lot better in TomTom. TomTom reacts faster to userinput and needs less resources.
The only negative thing about TomTom are the voice commands of the german version. They are confusing most of the time. Sometimes you need to retranslate and interpret them. The voicecommands of MN5 are vastly clearer and more accurate.
In my view, iGO Myway 2006 plus is currently the best compromise between Navigon and Tomtom.
High performance, very good usability, even more features than Tomtom, quality of the voice commands is almost on the standard of MN.
Also highly recommendable is Medion GoPal 2.x AE/PE. Not quite as nice graphics, but with the text-to-speech engine voice commands are even more precise than Navigon without TTS.
I have run TT6 on my Herald without any issues at all, the device is overclocked to 240MHz but other than that no mods are required.
Cheers
LB
I have tomtom but i having issues with answer calls which i am unable to do so.
after running some tests on this it seems that when receiving a call and using tomtom u can't answer it because the application for some reason doesn't give control to the phone app. You have press the start menu key and then u can answer the call or hang up. nothing to do with the ram its more so that tomtom needs to update there application for WM6
Why do we have two threads for exactly the same problem?????

Hello, I had Tom Tom 7 navigator 7.450 running fine on my Xperia X1 until I had the factory software installed (ROM VERSION: 1.02.931.3).
Now i just updated to the latest software from sony ericcson web site (ROM VERSION: 1.05.931.10). When I re-installed the same Tom Tom 7.450 it works fine but I don't see the number of satellites and the blue bars representing the signal strength of each satellite are also missing. Its strange as it still shows the position and can be used to navigate.
I have tried to remove and re-install tom Tom three times but still get the same result.
Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks.
yeah, I faced the same issue with my X1i, using tomtom 7 as well on the latest firmware. no idea WHY this is happening, maybe we'll have to wait for a new version of tomtom
With the R1 firmware, I could only use it with the "other Bluetooth GPS" on COM4 to get it working. Since R2 (and it's also the case with R3), I use builtin GPS and it works perfectly. Sometimes it can take up to 2 minutes to work, but it works.
seems others too facing similar prob. same myself. tomtom 7 will not 'see' any satellites, though it get a fix and works normally. It happened since i upgrade to the r3 ( official, and itje's touch-it 10.2 rom).
But no such prob when using google maps. It works fine, and also shows satellites as well.
It seems to be a compatibility issue with tomtom 7 and r3 firmware. just a wild guess...
Same issue with Garmin Mobile XT after upgrading to latest R3 official ROM... 3D fix but no satellites number and graphics...
Hi Guys total newbie and I had the same problem with mine but I got hold of a copy of 7.910 and it works like a dream.
1. Configure WM (Settings - External GPS):
- Programs : COM2
- Hardware : COM9 baudrate : 9600
- Access : activate the check box
2.Configure Tomtom :
- GPS Settings : Other NMEA, Speed : 9600, on COM2
Works perfect

Seams to be depending on what version of TT you are using if it will pick up internal GPS directly or if you have to use the method I described above.
TomTom 7.450.9028 just works perfectly with R3.
TomTom 7.915 just works with R3.

In my experience TT 7.450.9028 works perfectly but it doesn't show the number of satellites: "work perfectly" means that also without this information the localisation/navigation works perfectly
So I tested it today, sometimes it shows the satellite, sometimes not. Then after a soft reset, sometimes it works again, sometimes not... It seems a bit hazardous...
try with a newer (or older) radio version.
It's for sure a TomTom compatibility problem, not a radio problem, as all my other GPS freeware (like Leaf GPS for example) work perfectly. I'll check to upgrade my TomTom.
Hi everybody,
I am going to switch my HP ipaq hw6915 to WM 6.1, using the “Russian" ROM-Update discussed here quite intensively. Had been reading and searching first but nowehere found a hint on how to save/backup my original ROM first. Just to have an opportunity to roll-back
Can anybody give me a brief hint?
Thanks!
The reason for trying to upgrade my hw6915 to WM 6.1 is simply because I like and use the GPS still a lot, its still a perfect travel-companion!
I found out that on the current ROM with WM 5 only TomTom Navigator 6 is working . But all maps for that are outdated.
Installing Navigator 7 with latest maps works fine – but the Navigator software does receive GPS signal – once in a while (1 signal about every 30 seconds – just enough to locate the current position but not enough to really navigate).
Exactly the same thing when I install Sygic (which I love much more than Tom Tom). All works fine but again just about 1 signal about every 30 seconds.
GPS Proxy etc. does not solve the problem – so I will give it a try with WM 6.1.
If anybody however found out how to get Navi software (Tom Tom, Sygic or whatever) with not-too--old maps working with the original WM 5 on the hw 6015 – I´d be outstanding thankful to learn!
have you tried Garmin?
Have not tried Garmin bt I am using TT and Sygic in the car resp. on other mobiles so I did not want to deal with a 3rd Navi software.
Would be happy if somebody can give me a hint on how to backup my current (original) ROM before I try to flash it with Alpha 1 discussed in the other thread here.
