Hi all,
My issue: sms forwarding function not working in "in box" folder and my dear sony ericsson customer center reply as below:
"Dear Mr. Vincent,
Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson. With regards to your enquiry,
Regarding to your question, I’m so sorry for the mislead information provided to you before. Since the SMS style is conversation SMS on the Sony Ericsson X1 (Window Mobile 6.1 features), therefore it is unable to forward the SMS from the inbox. Your understand is highly appreciated!
Should you require any further assistance with your X1, please do not hesitate to contact us on our dedicated line.
For more information on our products and services, please feel free to visit our website at www.sonyericsson.com
Kind Regards,"
OK, I am using a Traditional Chinese ROM for X1 and I think the answer is "suxK". My friends using HTC HD, D2 are working properly on this forwarding ftn.
Hope the buddies here can give me some help on this.
Thanks
Vince
You talkin' bout manual or automatic forwarding? As for manual forwarding, you can simply disable conversation-style. If you wanna know how, ask. For automatic forwarding you will need a special application that does the trick for you.
I installed XperiaTweak V2 and disabled conversation style sms and can forward texts from the in box with ease. This is a very useful program which can be found by using the attached link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=440035
Hope this helps.
even in conversation style, open the conversation which contains the sms to be forwarded... when the conversation opens up, press the hardware "UP' key. This will highlight the last sms in the conversation with a light blue box. Press the hardware up key till you get to the sms which you wanna forward. Now you will find that the menu has forward and delete options enabled.
Thanks for all your solution proprosal.
bharat4ever, I try your solution and it works, big thanks!!!
I think the sony guy should be re-train.
Nice solution from sony. Maybe they treat him the same way by misleading him about the features of the x1

I am pasting the question from another forum which interests me as well…
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hi all,
when sending sms and you set the setting for ask for delivery notice on you get back the delivery notice but it will only show you the number not the Name.
This is very annoying when you are sending sms to many contacts.
Is there a work around that?. I contacted the poor online support of Imate and one "not-so-tactful" support lady said "this is what it suppose to do" and they cut me off even before asking my next question to them.
what a shame i-mate has such a poor online support."
Unfortunately I don't think there is. The delivery report comes back from the networks servers with the persons mobile number only. The contact name for that number is stored locally on your phone handset only. What you need is a program that can scan received delivery reports, pull out the number and match it to your contacts database. Far too long winded.
Such a function would probably only benefit someone sending one sms to multiple contacts, then waiting to see who actually received it, so probably not considered by any software developers.
never the less, it is still a shortcoming of the Windows Mobile software, as all nokia phones old and new (even the ancient 8210), and sony ericsson phones can do this!
If anybody is still trying to find the solution for this... here it is...

Hello,
I know this has been asked before without reaching any satisfying solution, but who knows... maybe someone found a magic trick lately...
I have to send a SMS message to a large number (96) of recipients. Adding them to the "To:" field just doesn't work - probably some overflow error caused by too many recipients. Does anyone have any actual solution?
Until now the best shot seemed to be "Simple SMS" (the software), but I just can't seem to config it to work with the 9100/Wizard. Maybe some other add-on software?
I'm quite desperate, as this looks like a mailing list I have to contact quite often...
Thank you in advance for your help!
you could try Microsoft outlook for contacts, and outlook express for email.
I am not sure but I think using Microsoft outlook may be easier to send to 96 people. Good luck with your replies.
have you tried O2SMSPlus?
I googled O2 SMS Plus but it looks like it is a proprietary app... is there a downloadable version out there, and does it actually do the trick?
i'm using a BA on AKU3.0, and the app posted in the following thread works. it enables you to choose from the addressbook which names to send the message to, and subsequently sends them one by one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=58257&start=0
if it doesn't work for you, you can always uninstall it. good luck.

YESSSS!
O2 Sms Plus is working like a charm! Thankyouthankyouthankyou!
glad to see it works for you.
Is there a hack or application that anyone knows that will allow me the option of sending a text to a contact from the Contacts list (instead of having to open the contact, scroll down the numbers etc etc)
So I would be able to press the Menu key and it appear in this list as Send SMS...
Many thanks
It is already there...
I'm using the AKU 2.3 Rom but I can't remember it not being there even in the 1.8 Rom that mine shipped with.
Vijay has a nice tool to do this here:
http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJPhoneTools
If that's not what you're after you can always add a line in the Notes section of a contact like this
smsnnn)[email protected]<recipient'sCarrierDoman>
(Carrier Domain example: @mymobile.cingular.com)
with a space and/or line return after it (but no spaces within), and it will show up as a selectable link. When you tap it the SMS app will open with the number you're wanting to text to in the appropriate place.

Thanks for that but neither of those is really what I was hoping for.
I use sms more than phone calls and find it kind of couter intuitive that I can see the contact and dial it from the contacts list, but in order to send a text I have to find the contact open it, scroll down to the SMS number then send the text. What I was really looking for was a way to put an extra entry in the menu list allowing me to "Send SMS to contact" seems a bit silly that I have the option to send a media message but not an sms (given the relative ratios of SMS to MMS that the mobile operators handle) unless it is an attempt by Vodafone to get me to send more non bundled MMS instead of the huge number of bundled SMS that I have.
Whilst I love the functionality of my new handset I really do miss the more object orientated funtionality of my old Sony Ericsson

Missed this post, sorry.
That would be really useful, but I am a bit of a woose and don't want to wreck my phone and Vodafone haven't released the 2.3 ROM (from what I can tell).
I will do a search through the forums and figure out what I have to do to upgrade the ROM and then I'll have to take a gamble on whether I am brave enough to proceed.
Thanks
I s'pose I'm more of the old school, as I use my phone more for calls than text messaging. And in that regard I've been pleasantly surprised to learn how easy it is to do so.
I hope you find a solution, especially given the cost of the device!
I mainly go to inbox, Text Messages, type a few letters of the persons name, and their number pops right in. Am I missing something?

I'm thinking that this option was always there for me. Maybe Vodafone removes it from the list intentionally?
You can always try doing a hard reset (or clear storage) and then stop the vodafone customizations from installing by soft reseting when it says "installing customizations in 3 seconds".

Will give this a try when I have a quiet moment (and have made an inventory of everything that I will need to reload).
Thanks
There are a couple of good tools on here, both called Group SMS, which allow you to send a single text to multiple contacts, at the same time. The relationship here is one to many.
I am looking for someone to develop a tool to do the opposite, i.e. the ability to select a number of texts to send to a single contact. The relationship here is many to one.
Is anyone interested in taking this challenge on? The preference would be to further develop one of the group SMS tools to be able to accomplish both tasks from within the same tool rather than having to run yet another small program on the PPC. Alternatively it might be useful to develop a tool that can undertake both core functions, ie one to many and many to one.
I run a HTC Tytn, so I am looking for the application to be optimised for use on this device.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Cheers

well you can use threaded sms. it basically gives you a chat style so you can keep typing away.
Sorry Bowlopho, you have completely misunderstood what I want. I don't want to cut & paste into a threaded SMS application, which is what I think you are referring to.
What I want to do is pick up several discreet text messages, all at once, and attach them to a single contact, then send in a one time operation only. I want them to remain as discreet messages when I send them, not blurred into one giant text.
I know exactly what I am looking for. Appreciate your input.
WB
to me sounds like a SMS Bomber with like different messages Yes?
Forgive my ignorance; SMS bomber? Sounds sinister. What does that do?
All I'm looking for is a tool that will let me send several discrete texts to one person in one overall selection process rather than to tediously have to repeat the process for each text message over and over.
The idea is a simple one and is the reverse of the tools already out here that allow one to send a single message to multiple/many contacts.
Thanks
WB
Hiya,
I'll add this to my Pocket SMS Manager, as it should be easy AND someone else requests it.
Pete
Pete,
Good to hear from you. If you are able to blend this into your tool then that would be an excellent result. How long would this take to develop/implement?
PM me if you need more detail in terms of what I am looking for, although it should be sufficiently clear from my posts in here. Incidentally, have not had chance to keep up with developments on your tool. Have you sorted the delays and slow updates, assumed to be caused by Activesync, that I reported to you some time ago?
Let me know.
Cheers
WB

WB -
Please elaborate more about what you want - just so that it's very clear your concept request is understood -
Having the idea scope would be helpful:
* What is the benefit of having this tool
* For what major purpose would it serve
* When you mention chaining a few selected texts together to send to one recipient, can you provide a theoretical example?
If you can provide some more detailed walk-through hypothetical scenarios, it would help me as well.
Thanks,
DSO
IMSMS,
Thanks for the response. I will develop some scenarios and email them to you so you can have a clear idea of what I am looking for.
Thanks

Hi guys i just got a white Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 last week the phone is really cool and i am liking it but i have noticed a really weird bug/error, when i recieve SMS messages from any short code (i.e. my provider or my bank) the SMS contact is displayed as another contact in phone book. E.g the my operator sends me sms the operator number is 90605 instead of the SMS showing its from 90605 it shows its from mike (a guy in my phone book).
Is anyone else facing this issue? how can it be resolved?
I have also noticed the phone doesn't feature internet sharing facility or no way to use it as a modem and connect ur laptop to the net. If anyone knows how to do this please share.
Thanx guys have a good day..
Mod. edit: not t&a related, moved to general
Can someone please help with the below issue
cheers

Did you check that 90605 digits are also part of your contact mike's details numbers/emails/etc ?
no those are not part of my contacts there are various numbers from the operator for various things e.g 1505 if u have voice mail 90605 to inform you about your bill and various offeres etc...
Why don't you try factory resetting your device once? That might help out. If not maybe you might want to send it for repair while your warranty still covers it.
You need this....
