Hello everyone i have got a little trick to play gba games on our htc touch viva which has a low processor....
Gba game lovers might have tried many many emulator for windows mobile to play but i know none of them properly emulate if they do also then also the game will lag really too much, i have myself experienced.
But no more lags you can play gba games on viva without any lag i myself tested.....
Now how to do that? Simple see here.
If you found that trick useful (That is smoother than ever gameplay) plz leave a comment/question anything you wish there in techz.in or here.
but with no sound? right?

Yes obviously with no sound as its running on android and android for opal still doesn't have sound hopefully musikmonk and other developers would bring it in next version. Just try that thing iam confident that you will see a major improvement definitely. And then post here how was you exp (you can post on that site also).
duh i just overclock and kill backgroung process which are useless then just play...it works for me ....btw i overclock to 276...so is the method u posted superior
too bad Gameboid isn't free or open source.

The weird thing is that on Android, we're actually underclocking the cpu on Android and the game speed is still better than game speed on wm6.x with overclocking.

There's a free version called Gameboid Lite. It's missing game state saving. But normal game saving works fine.
Yes muskimonk even if you have underclocked android still gba games run much smoother i have wrote the reason on techz.in --- Simply android uses the hardware efficiently than wm, oh yes i forgot there is gameboid lite version..
Anyone else tried PSXDroid on their G2?
I tried playing marvel vs capcom, chrono cross, and x=men vs street fighter.
Im using PSX4DROID v 1.3
The sound is super laggy and glitched and games are not running at 100%. However, i have read many comments taht say v1.3 is just a horrible version of the emulator. Anyone else playing and having a good experience?
How does it work?

With sound on, everything is very laggy. but i just saw this video on youtube and his PSX4DROID emulator is running much faster, so i think its the version i have.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaYks8qHD1w&feature=related
Well try the older version... because you know its NOT the phone. The G2 is the most powerful android phone out there, period. Let us know your results... I was thinking about getting it but heard its too buggy for use.
When I first got the G2 I tried out Chrono Cross on psx4droid. It ran very well, although I did have the sound off (not a fan of annoying sounds while playing games on my phone).
But after updating psx4droid from the market yesterday, the emulator runs very poorly. Hopefully the dev undoes whatever he changed so that it will start running well again.

Yeah, it might be the update. From past experience with many emulators, sound off always runs better. The problem is not that the g2 can't handle ps games but it has to emulate them in a player than runs inside android if that makes any sense. In other words native games like nova or heavy gunner which are graphic equivilant to ps games run better because they run pretty much natively. Where ps games are ran inside a emulator coded to run natively in android. I know that explanation is poor but you get the point. The ps emulator is relatively new too compared to the others. But ps games are pushing the limits... have you heard if any N64 emulators that run well or at all yet?
well, either find a better warez source to update to 1.5, or stop being cheap and buy the app from market; sound is crappy, but when it is off ff9 and chrono cross run very smooth

Newest ver on the market is 1.5 (you know that though since you purchased it )
Ran 1.5 today w/ ROMS on class(6) and it was about the same performance I believe: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=802147
Haven't tested with sound much, but on my G2 with psx4droid 1.1 I've been playing:
FFVII
FF Tactics
Megaman Legends
all with no problems, great playability
I purchased it (support your developers, anusholes), but it does seem laggy and sound is glitchy when I play parappa the rappa. Haven't tried any other games.
I have had extensive experience comparing the galaxy phones to the g2 performance in psx4droid. First of version 1.1 is the fastest. It is also the buggiest. On psx4droid 1.1 the g2 does very playable speeds on all games but really heavy polygonal games like fighters and whatnot. Zodttd released versions 1.3 and 1.4 that were much slower while trying to fix bugs. Now 1.5 is the best balance. Only slightly slower than 1.1 but slow
enough to make a lot of games unenjoyable on the g2 while the galaxy phones are able to keep up. Side by side they are like 30 percent faster than the g2 in psx4droid. Im hoping for root soon so we can overclock.

Thanks, this was very helpful
i'm currently running Tmobile G2 overclocked to 1.45 GHZ using a root module, and unfortunately psx4droid 1.61 is playing horridly aweful =(. This was an upgrade from 1.5, which played phenomenially better than 1.61. In 1.5 if the CPU could not process enough power (logically), the game would be a little slower, however 1.61 has sound that is TOO FAST for ALL games, with slow graphics (wtf)?. So in other words, My sound for the game is INCREDIBLY fast, while the in game graphics are sloooww to a crawl. Is there anyone that's willing to host the psx4droid 1.5 apk for me to obtain? I've bought this emulator expecting only improvement, not drawback =(
I have tried a few emulators, example snesoid, nesoid, etc ... and all of the games is lagging, just unplayable .... when i don't touch the virtual keypad, or the screen ... all games run almost perfectly ... until the touch ... and the music, the screen starts freezen, lagging :/
i tried to modify setting, but nothing happened :S
I have a rooted wildfire, with setcpu...main max cpu rate: 691 MHz
i think this is enough to play games, like nes, or snes .. or am i wrong?
is that possible the emultors isn't optimizated to this hardwer?!
still sry for my bad english
lazlo
Nah dont think the phone is that powerful.
For me they working quite good, on stock rom, nothing modified
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
hmm...thats a shame :/ ... i mean this games are really retro ... other phones has this emulators, and runs great ... example i think every windows mobile phone
i had an HTC Kaiser few years ago, and it ran this games perfectly like Nes or Snes Super Mario, etc without any lagg
Did you tried any of this?! .. nesoid, snesoid?! ... ran it well with CyanogenMod ROM?!
Any other wildfire retro gamer?!
Nesoid, Snesoid and Gensoid all work fine for me

i can't believe it .... that you have the same hungarian, vodafone wildfire, like my ... and here, it isn't working very well :/
interesting

Okay, thx the info...
I think i will test Cyanogenmod, maybe it will solve the problem

I've tested them on cyan, open, Vodafone branded and 1.37 debrand. All was slow and unplayable..
Also tested standard and clocked.
sad times...

For me snesoid, nesoid and gameboid all run fine on stock rom with oc kernal nd cpu at 672mhz.I have not tried many games but pokemon ruby fire red and dbz Legacy of goku 3 run fine.
thank you for everyone to share your experiences about emulators
but is anybody have a clue what could be the problem for me and a lots of people?
also i'm looking for the original, stock kernel ... i'd like to test with that ... but nothing found yet
Just a thought, but maybe the lagging issue is to do with the speed of your sd card, since the emulators read the roms from there. I'm using a 4gb class 6 and everything runs fine for me

Yes, maybee .... but i think when i start the emulator, and a game ... the application reads the necesarry datas to the main memory, and it runs from them....not reading all the time from the SD card ....
..like in PC ... when you start a game, or anything else ... the data loading from the hard disk (winchester) to the RAM....
..but it cost nothing, i'll try it, from another SD card
thx the idea
Hi all.. i want to know if you have found some good hd2 android rom to play with psx emulators... i use fpse
i now use hyperdroidgbx 7 and it seams to be the best in sound emulation and in speed but i want to know if there is out there a better nand rom working faster then this one with emulators...
i play with ff7 and its working very well but sometimes when you start battles the sound slows down..
i tryed sense roms but even if developers says they are fast i allways encounter lags.. i tryed the highest quadrant scores roms but they have problems emulating audio.. dunno why the audio is creepy.. the rom i'm using now have a good linpack score... around 36-45 and a good cpu/2d/3d quadrant score 3800cpu, 274 2d, 405 3d.
now pls make some test and let me know if you have a better rom..

For future reference if youre not posting a ROM, dont post in this forum! Go to Q and A.
Also to answer your question, no rom will dramatically increase psx emulation. The best emulator out there is fpse for psx emulation. If it lags on that app, no rom will reduce lag of a game. ffVii works fine for me on typhoon cm7 and fpse (including the cutscenes with sound.) Also note that it may be the emulator that causes lag or sound glitches, not the rom (emulation is NEVER perfect)
Hi everyone!
I'm using some different android devices (Xperia X10, Galaxy S, HTC HD2, Motorola Milestone), and I noticed the HD2 was the SLOWEST of them, when playing games!
I'm usually playing some different games to try the device or specific ROM speed, usually it's Gangstar Miami Vice (this game needs a lot of power, then..)
And I wonder why my HD2 takes so much time to boot up the game, and why so many lag ingame (even with same microSD than my other devices!)..
Is it because of the ROM ? The recovery (partition layer)? (does the 150/250/400M changes some power?) Or I wonder what else..?
Thanks for your answers!
im guessing its the 'faulty' graphic drivers from htc dating back in the winmo days...
it may be something else though...
by the way, wrong section
Maybe I'm wrong, but is the gaming on WP7 not faster than Android?
Are not there other guys like me that have tried games on Android and think it's very slow??
Up, please!
I really would like to enjoy a efficient speed on my HD2. . =D
keep waiting and be patient... the devs are still working hard to port the phone to android, its not completed, yet

Try overclocking your device. It does a trick with my phone.
hm my hd2 is realy fast and the actually roms are very nice too...
I don't know but just some examples:
When playing any games (Need for Speed Shift, Miami Vindication, Bruce Lee, Worms, Quake 3,.. ), all games are lagging, sometimes much, sometimes a bit, but always lagging. Some games are even freezing! (Miami Vindication).
Which overclocking software should I use with the HD2 ??
And what data should I enter?
Thanks!

I used search, optimized to 1200 mhz (using CyanogenMod Options), but it does nothing..
Its still not "smooth" as on my Galaxy S, or iPhone 3GS! So sad
Judging from your results you only checked one result. Search again overclocking. Try some different tags. Most importantly, don't always rely on someone.
