signal not so strong (sometimes cant get signal), camera and comm button not functioning when phone is on but still functioning when need to get into bootloader, no stereo sound no ear speaker sound.. but when open radio put on loudspeaker, can hear sound... thia PDA is like short circuit or something... coz still can hear sound when use radio loudspeaker and radio can turn on without using earphone...suspect audio jack faulty (as many these kind of problem on atom come frm audio jack) so the audio jack already taken out... but still same... but still can use as normal PDA such as wifi, got powerpoint, excel, word, CORE player and many apps come with this titanium ROM....plz help can anyone tell me about the problem..thanks
firstly i ws thinking that your inner h/w of the camera or comm button is not n contact with the outer button for the respective. but since you have told that they are working properly in boot loader, so it is not the problem of contact.
Try one thing. Goto Start-> settings-> Buttons (in WM6.1). check if you have camera asigned with respect to the camera button. Check similar for the others also

Hi there
This is my second O2 mini-XDA. The sound on the phone doesn't seem to want to work anymore. I can't hear alarms, hear anything making phone calls. It happened once before with this phone and seemed to go away by itself. I've got some important data on the phone so I'd love to not have to send it in. Anyone have any ideas about how to sort it?
Cheers
immy
Try if you got the sounds thru a headset..
It's possible that the microswitch inside the headphone connector is stuck.
I had the same problem. When I inserted mij headphone a few times it was solved.
The microswitch is for switching of your speakers and activate your headset.
Good luck
volume bubble
tap volume icon on start bar and turn the volume to on!
I had the same issue with the original Imate XDA. There is an issue with some of the HTC phones in which the cable of the speaker is broken. The easiest way to check it is to connect a headset and then see if it is working or not. If the sound is still not working, then you will need to replace the D2A audio chip. Is your phone under warrenty?
Regards,
A very common problem - had the same problem (fortunately, my PDA is still under warranty and, therefore, it was repaired for free). The chip that switches between the wired headset and the three built-in speakers just died and had to be swapped.
Some other people also state this can also be caused by using the wired headset, which causes shortouts when you insert / remove it.
Hello,
i have a problem with my device: it has stopped to make sounds (as the click on selections, the music from a mp3, the ring of a call) i can hear the voice of the speaker in a phone call. But i can listen to everything if i put the headset on. It seems like the device is switched in "headset mode" turning off the main speaker. When i plug and unplug the headset i can hear (sometimes) the sound to come back, just to shut off the second later.
I've tried soft and hard reset and i've even installed the news rom: once installed it seems to work properly.. but this morning is "mute" again..
anyone would help this poor guy?
thanks in advance!
Execus me for this question, but I have to exclude the obvious. Did you try raising the volume utilizing the speaker icon on the top bar?
The volume is at the max and all the sounds are enabled.

Are you using any siftware which might conflict with the OS?
Test the volume with no software installed and BOTH sliders at the maximum (UP)position, also bear in mind that the installed windows media player has a volume slider of its own.
Sadly not: the problem is still there even after an hardware reset, without any other software installed. And if i plug the headset i can hear everything, so the volume is up.
It seems like the device is finding the headset even if they are not plugged, thus turning the main speaker off.
...maybe a broken loudspeaker...
I'm afraid to say this , but before to have my trinity I experienced a similar problem with my old JAMin , were the loudspeaker suddenly stopped working and only with a new one ( loudspeaker) I recovered the correct " voice" of the device.
in this case it seems to be the same , but to be sure you should be able to mesure the impedance of it ; normally should be around 30 ohms ...
when mine was broken , it was completely "open" ....
but to do this you have to open the device !!!!
I'm sorry , any other idea...

From what you say i think we can safely rule out the loudspeaker being damaged(you wouldn't have been able to hear anything ,not even for a second), it's more than likely that your problem has to do with the miniusb audiojack which might be shorting out,the only thing you can do before taking the device to a service center is insert a miniusb cable in the jack and carefully move it sideways and up and down, this might resolve the issue.

And... sucking the jack... although this might gives a too strong picture of how much you love your trinity
Thanks a lot,
moving the jack seems to solve the issue sometimes..
I was wondering: are there any settings on the registry to avoid the use of the headset: maybe if i can set the device to never use the headset the problem with the switch could be bypassed...
lost sound
well my trinity just did the same thing.
Was working fine one minute, then suddenly no sound. Plug in the headset and it works fine, but without the headset I can connect to a call but i can not hear the other person and strangely they cannot hear me. Seems like my phone is stuck in headset mode somehow.
Haven't done a hardrest yet, but i guess thats next . . .
my neo doesnt give a sound - the mic also doesnt work,so i think, the "switch" that indicates the headset doesnt work anymore.
so what to do ?
if the switch opens a circuit, i could close it (was heisst silberleitlack in en ?) - but which of this 6 contacts arround .. ?
if not,is there a software-workaround for this problem ?
sorry, AFAIK there is no software solution!. It is a nasty problem that has plagued many WM devices that have the 2.5mm input jack. See this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1276972#post1276972
to use a bluetooth-headset to test this is a very good idea - thank you..
but tomorrow i´ll get a 2.5"-jack - because i havent one, so that i cant test anything ..
my idea would be to shorten the switch and so to disable the headset fully, or to bing in a microswitch - of the contact is open, while a jack is insertet ..
else it will be hard

this i meant - looks good, even if i dont understand the following
"The rear speaker functions now and I can use the phone."
i hope it means, the rear-speaker and the frontspeaker is funktioning - and not, that i have to phone with the rear-speaker (but it would surely look a little strange)
Nice,
run media player and play a song,
turn your prophet upside down and get a small needle, push the needle inside and run it along the contacts inside on the left. that should pop out the contact and you will know straight away because your music will start to play,
Hope that helps
ok i hAVE A TMOBILE MDA2 i used to have sound, but it stopped wotking, i just upgraded to wm6.1, but maybe there is a sound driver that i need or something? 9before i used to have wm2003) which didnt have sound eather, thats why i thought the up5grade would fix this? also before it said turn on bluetooth radio.... i have no idea what that means
if the actuall speaker piece is broken maybe someone could tell me where to buy a speaker piece? i doubt that thou..
many people exp that the headset switch inside the audio connector get stuck
and their device only play out the headset
they fix it by inserting and removing the headset from 1 to many times
which can unstick the switch
or they change the headset connector
Has anyone dealt with a dead mic ?
One day out of the blue on 4.4 mic stoped working.
Installed L 5.1. beta 3 and the mic still seems dead (Calls and Google voice) HOWEVER in sound recorder the mic works (picking every single sound) ...
Further more installed the HiQ Mp3 recorder which apparently can use front and or back mic and it works in all configs .(front back and stereo)
Tried different values via engeenering mode with no luck ....
****** Apologies to all this post was misplaced in this forum *********
I guess I should replace the charging board alltogether however I am puzled that the recordings come out clean ......
Anyone with a similar experience ??
(btw sound on wired headset is fine ... bluetooth sound is broken I think due to beta since the bt headset and speaker I tried didnt work)
Phone is Jiauy S3A
Ok Results
The issue was a dead mic (low mic) or rather a near dead mic.
Replacing the mic (on the same board ) resolves the issue (note that you can use third party mics i used asamsung one)
Best test to realise where is the fault
Open the camera recorder and start recording
Close the top mic hole with your finger, start talking in the lower mic and in the end gently (very gently) blow towards the hole.
Repeat on the top hole with the lower hole closed
After that listen to the video
If there is a problem with a mic the voice might be heard but the blow will be almost inaudiable in the problematic mic.
I have exactly the same problem - mic works fine on sound recorder and on the video camera, but Google Voice Search and using the phone does not (I've tried your blow test and it's all fine). This surely cannot be a hardware fault, can it ?
I've tried updating to LL5.1 beta3, but same problem. I've fiddled with the audio settings in the engineering menu, using a variety of values, and turned off the noise reduction without any success.
Any ideas ?

Google voice was the main indicator that the mic was bad ....
Do the blow test again and try as "gentle" as possible and then compare the results, if the uper mic is louder then then mic is dead or nearly dead.
Most probable that you ll need to change your mic
Thanks for your help - can you provide a link to the replacement mic you used (or did you use one from an old phone) - and is it easy to replace ?
Unfortunately I did go to a service shop for the repair, so I dont have a model number, all I know is that he proposed two different types, one was a noname and the other one was made by samsung (so my guess is that any samsung service center can sell you one) .
The process took about half an hour, unsoldering the old mic and soldering the new and the cost was 10 euros ( around 11 USD)
Sorry I couldnt be any more helpfull on that.
I found that, after video recording with stock camera app, main mic stop working for calls. only upper mic working. you can test it with 2 phones in both hands. but I was find simple solution: many people holding phone when taking pictures so the controls are on right side. but if you turn you phone so the shutter button will be on left side, after video recording, main mic still working!!! btw. if you like to take a shoot with control button on right side, just after you finished, turn your phone for 180° and make one more shoot, just to save your main mic for calls. no reboot needed after this action. tested on many roms, KK or LP, happend with all roms and stock camera. so problem is with stock camera app and sensor that give the information to phone to disable main mic.
Well mine was definitely a hardware fault - got a replacement lower board (USB/mic/speakers) and replaced it myself - all good again.
I think i've got the answer. The lower mic is broken for some of us. When we got to the camera app and take a video and turn the phone around it will indeed change the mic and then will use the upper one (still working) in future calls. This is why you can then be heard after when you call someone, but you'll be using the upper mic and the lower mic is still broken. Once your reboot you have to redo this. I'd like to buy a new board (usb + mic) but we cannot find any on internet anymore. Except some sellers on Ebay who are selling it from 150 dollars to 900 dollars (no joke). I guess i don't have much solution except doing that trick and use the upper mic and then try not to reboot the phone.
