Hi all, I have downloaded Windows Mobile 6.5 Developer Tool Kit and the phone emulators on there are excellent. just wondering if anyone here uses this for test touch hd roms before flashing there devices?
If so do you already have the correct settings and rom files for the touch hd that can be loaded with the Windows Mobile 6.5 tool kit?
Also how do you go about being able to install apps on there or flash a new rom as if you was doing it for real on the handset? I couldn't see a way of copying cab files to it.
I think it would be really useful to have a default emulation of the Touch HD so we can try out apps or roms before installing or flashing the phones saves resetting everything if we don't like them.
Thanks
Have you asked in the Blackstone ROM dev forum ?

No, I wasn't sure if this should go there or in general as it isn't actually a ROM or to do with creating ROM's it more about testing them but maybe it would be better of there.
Can a mod move this to ROM development please?
I'm sure it's not so easy (maybe even not possible) in WinMo-Emualtor.
HD has specific drivers and so on ...
But take a look in this thread:

I want to flash my Elfin with any WM 6.5 ROM. But the problem is, there are a *lot* of them in the wild, and I'm confused.
In http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=541886, you can see a bar at the bottom which is absent in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=426540. Also, in the first one, the start menu is shifted to the bottom.
I'm looking for a simple WM 6.5 ROM with the *least* modifications done to it.
Any recommendations?
Also, is WM6.5 good to use *without* M2D?
First, windows mobile 6.5 is now a very 'loose' build, which means Microsoft just works on the builds and release them as and when they like it and along the way, they work on new BETA features. Or features which do not work well.
Some of the builds have start buttons at the bottom because Microsoft changed some of the features of it (Again, its Microsoft issue).
Do be reminded that Windows Mobile Official 6.5 is not out yet.
Hmmm, thanks for the reply. I have another question.
When I hard reset my phone, M2D, and other M2D components like Audio Manager, HTC Album, Phone Canvas etc. is retained.
When I dump my rom following this guide http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Elf_HowtoDumpRom, will all that stuff be there in the backup? I.e., if I want to flash this backup, will the M2D etc be flashed with it?
If not, is there a way to backup the whole thing? I'm not talking about the apps I install. I'm talking about M2D etc. which are in my ROM since I bought it. Since they are retained even after a hard reset, I guess there must be a way to back them up along with the ROM.

Also, can someone direct me to a guide for HSPL? I found one on this website but it's confusing.
Okay guys, I need some replies fast .
Question:
If I dump my ROM using this method (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Elf_HowtoDumpRom), then *will* the M2D, Audio Manager etc be backed up with it? I think they should, because they were 'cooked' into the ROM, i.e. if I hard reset, they are retained.
...No one?
Well, rom dumping is quite hard.
What? This (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Elf_HowtoDumpRom) process was pretty simple. But do you know the answer to my question?

wm6.5 has not been released for the HD and never will. Only way to get it is by flashing a cooked rom with wm6.5 on it. Step-by-step guide can be found here.
EDIT
I see you started a new thread with an updated query so I'll close this one
Rick
I have searched and asked whether there are any updated OEMDrivers for the native Blackstone 6.5 Kernel? It appears some of the Topaz 6.5 OEMDrivers are compatible with the Blackstone 6.5 native kernel and there are ROMs out there that have these drivers integrated? In the dump of the latest official Topaz 6.5 ROM lots of the .dll files from OEMDrivers are modules that get dumped as single files in the final Blackstone 6.1 ROM. I think due to the memory differences between 6.1 and 6.5 this is beneficial for Blackstone WM 6.5x ROMs with the native 6.5 Kernel?
I don't have the luxury of going through each of the files/modules and cooking ROMs as I only have a single Blackstone and its my only phone. But it does appear this has already been done by some of the Blackstone chefs? If someone could let me know what modules/files I can transport from the Topaz to the Blackstone I'd be grateful - maybe an upload of a converted/updated Blackstone OEMDrivers kitchen folder?
Many thanks
Andy
The Mikenificent ROM contains some updated Topaz Drivers apparently? The chef isn't responding to PM's and any other requests I have made have gone unanswered so does anyone have a dump of this ROM or the OEMDrivers folder?
The link to the Mikenificent ROM has also gone...
Andy
Hi Andy,
I've tried my self, but it's not an easy task.
I'd suggest to identify the target drivers you want to improve from the original Blackstone 1.59 ROM, and then create cabs with the Topaz drivers and install them on top for a quick try. You may need to recmod some of them.
I have tried a few of them, but some are not compatible (E.G.: smarttouch)
An alternative is to ask someone of the users on the mikenificent thread for a copy of the 13.3 Rom, flash it and get a copy of the drivers he is using and compare with the original blackstone drivers.

That's probably the best approach. With 6.5 kernels, you can convert all of the oem drivers to modules (in my experience), and there will definitely be more modules among the drivers in 6.5 roms compared to 6.1 roms. If you want to test out some from a topaz rom, dump the rom and then recmod the ones you're interested in. I would just copy them into \windows with total commander or resco explorer, and over-write the rom module. Soft reset, and see how it works. You can do several at a time. For the hell of it once, I converted all of my oem driver dll's to files and then over-wrote the rom modules with the files to see how the device behaved. It worked ok (more virtual memory is used, though), and all of the files did load into ram properly.
I think this is what you are looking for.

Hi, thanks for the link but I already have that and thats what I am using in my Blackstone 6.5 ROMs. Its the OEMDrivers folder I want to update/replace with Topaz drivers that:
1. Work perfectly on the Blackstone
2. Are newer and written for WM 6.5
3. Offer better performance than the latest Blackstone 6.1 drivers
I have already re-moduled most of the 6.1 drivers however I can't see any performance increase with doing this - I think it is more memory efficient to have modules but since the drivers are essentially the same they perform the same
I have already asked in the Mikenificent thread as well as PM'ing Mikenf(?) and haven't heard anything so far...
Thanks, Andy
Half the fun of cooking is experimenting with the ingredients and settings. I suggest you just get the drivers and find out for yourself.
Topaz Drivers for testing on Blackstone
Hi,
I did a comparison of all drivers Blackstone 1.59 vs Topaz 2.53.
Attached you will find them, split by function (some of them unknown).
I'll be start doing some test myself using some in my next roms and advise
If you test and work, pls also advise.
Any new news here?

Which android or WM 6.5 rom for HTC Touch HD is the best for me to use? I mean, that it has everything working(Im thinking of using WM 6.5 for everyday use, and Android purely for apps and wifi (browsing, facebook, YT(optional), and maybe some music). I'm thinking of putting custom 6.5 rom in my HD. So, can some1 provide me with the best ROM out there and a tutorial to flashing it? I already know how to put Android on phone, just need a nice ROM.It would be great if you could only copy/paste ROM threads. Thanks. And sorry if i violated something on website, but im fairly new, and cant really understand all those tutorials.
P.S. Is HD running WM 6.5 rom better than it running WM 6.1?
Thanks again guys, im really gratefull ^^
WM for battery life
Android is only running properly on SD card builds - so you can have both easily enough.
I like WM6.5 but some say that WM6.1 is faster overall.
Depends what you want.
My blackstone is my work mobile and I have WM6.5 EDGE SWIFT rom on it at the moment, works well - I just need basic functionality out of it really, but battery life is very useful!
I'd love an Android NAND rom on it sometime though
the EDGE rom thread has a tutorial link in it - but the general gist is probably for WM roms:
1) update with HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex (may be slightly different - check the tutorials first!)
2) download BlackstoneAdvancedRUU
3) find and download the rom you want, extract the .nbh and put it with the BlackstoneAdvancedRUU.exe
4) run BlackstoneAdvancedRUU.exe, task 29, run BlackstoneAdvancedRUU.exe again, task 28 and select your nbh file from the list
follow on screen instructions at all times.
you might want to flash the RADIO: HD_1.17.25.09.nbh too if you havent already got the latest radio...
Ok, i managed to somehow install WM 6.5 and its working well , got iGo on it, and some other apps. Now, which Android is the best for things i posted in my previous post?
(web browsing, music, apps) It doesn't need to have working camera, because i dont really use it, and if i needed it, i'd use it via WM 6.5.
P.S. is it possible to watch movies (.avi; .mkv; etc.) on WM 6.5 and Android?
P.P.S How to connect my phone to PC via WM and via Android?
P.P.P.S What's the status of Android Market's games and apps on Blackstone? Are they all working?
Thank you very much
Hi all.
I'm creating a Windows Mobile Rom.
1)---I want to create a rom modifying my smartphone's rom and NOT creating a rom from a clean one (it will be almost impossibile).
2)---Which kitchen can i use?
3)---Where can I download the latest Windows Mobile 6.1 and 6.5 Builds? (Da-G's download don't work anymore on Mediafire)
Thanks
Try OS Builder as this is the most advanced and all in one solution. But be aware that if you start from an already cooked ROM you may face many kinds of problems because many cooks have applied methods to prevent dumping their ROMs.
Good luck!

But, to pass from Winmo 6.0 to Winmo 6.1 or 6.5, do I need 6.1 or 6.5 builds (xip, sys)?
Where can I download these build?

Oh well - you are much on your own with this old stuff now. Usually you cannot do much to the XIP (Kernel) parts as they are largely HW dependent. SYS is part of the ROM anyway and so part of regular cooking. Lookup the forums for your device and download what you can get. If it is an exotic device your chances are ~zero to get anything useful. If you have no experience in cooking it is a very long way to succeed (talking in weeks and months of learning!) - and there no others fighting the same problems any more. Look up the introduction link from my signature to get an idea of how things are connected.
What is your starting point (HW, ROM) and where do want to go?
TOBBIE, in practice I want to use Os Kitchen (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=628948) because it's very simple to use.(I can alredy use it).
I downloaded but when I open it, I have the first screen (that showed in the thread). Is written: "....please, select an official rom update file..." It refers to an update Windows Mobile Build for cook the Rom.
So I searched Windows Mobile 6.1 and 6.5 Builds. I found 2 very good Builds from Da_G :
-6.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547314
-6.5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544445
But ALL Links don't work and I ABSOLUTELY need this Build, without it, I can't cook...
Sorry, I have no experience with OS Kitchen. I have only used OS Builder finally and a very old device specific batch-kitchen before this.
Thanks, Can i give you "THANKS"?
But with wich build did you used to cook?

Well first you need to split smartphone (no touchscreen) from touchscreen devices.
I have cooked only for smartphone -> see my signature kitchen and stuff is all there.
Then find a stock ROM for the right type (smartphone or touchscreen) with largely similar properties (screen resolution, maybe also CPU/Chipset).
Can't you tell which device you want to cook for?
I want to cook for my Toshiba Portege G910 with WinMob 6 Professional.
It's touchscreen, it has Qwerty Keyboard, it has Wvga Resolution 800x480. There is not even a rom for this device.
But I want to cook in Italian language, (I'm italian )
This will be tough I guess. Mind that a new ROM will not change the kernel, so any of the new memory schemes introduced with W6.1 and WM6.5 will not apply even if you put a new OS on top of it. So basically you will not gain speed with a new ROM. Adding a language is a tricky thing but is possible, see my signature, even without cooking an all new ROM. So is there no Italian on the device at all?
Oh, I'm sad for this: no extra speed
When I bought, my phone had italian language.
The Toshiba Portege G900 is very very similar to my G910. Also the G900 has WinMob 6.0 Pro.
An Italian guy made a Winmo 6.1 rom for the G900 (in italian language), and now the G900 is very very fast. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4h23pR6JbI
I want to this with my G910, IT'S possible. Salvyc83 do this
(But now he can't help me)
Search for speed tweaks on WM6 if you are happy with the device otherwise. The effort to cook a well running 6.1 is enormous and it is not guaranteed if you get it faster on the UI then.
There are various registry settings to play with which can make the UI faster responding (cache for icons or fonts).
Good luck!
I need too to learn cooking roms. I will follow this thread.
