Evo rooting?

Okay this might be the 1000th question about rooting.Ive heard the evo is rooted already but cant confirm yet if it is or not.Is there a rooting yet for the evo?Something easy for dummies like me.

Okay guys i got the unvrevoked on my phone.I ran it.Looks good so far.Only question i have is my laptop wont connect to my phone.It says connected to android wifi but when i load a page,says cannot be found.How do i use laptop with the wife tether that is running.
Also do you recommend any other apps to add to my phone like removing system apps and such..

Yeah I know he did but in that thread was the link to root and anyone who roots is going to want tethering sonner or later.

Root equals tether
Well no luck on information about tethering.My computer connects the the android tether,but computer cannot load pages online.

Once you tethered did you go to Settings->Wireless Networks and turn on Sprint Hotspot?

Thanks for trying.It says error.Man i wish things where that easy.Its never easy.I start tether first and then go to settings and click on sprint hotspot.It wont turn on but says error at the bottom of that tab.Now i tried the other way and turn on hot spot first which turns on.Then i go to tether and start it then gives me error.One being channel failed and the other.I know its got to be easy if there is people that have done this.

It seems that i am unable to access my 3g network nor able to even see my network settings from Ntelos... Any clue why this could be happening, it worked when i upgraded roms to 6.1. Or if anyone has the ntelos network log in info it would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure that your APN is configured properly.

I can't find anyone with the apn info for ntelos fully. It maybe I'm just having a newb moment but I can't find any sites with the info, but i have been thinking about taking it to ntelos but dono what they will say.

Definitely shouldn't do that. As for your problem, I can't do anything about because I don't have data
Do you have Android on your SD Card or NAND. I think people have been having more success with NAND including me.

Bell Atrix Experience

Hey Guys,
Wanted to share some initial impressions of my new Bell Atrix.
Picked it up yesterday and had to sign a 1month contract (purchased mine full price at $600 + tax). I emailed a guy from one of the threads on here for an unlock code (im on a corporate fido plan) and got the unlock code in literally 2 hrs!! (VERY IMPRESSED!--he is very inexpensive aswell --$20 USD for unlock codes) -- i can provide the email address of the guy if anyone is looking to unlock.
It seems like my WIFI isnt working. It keeps scanning for wifi networks and when i put in my wifi password, it just wont connect. ive got thru the forums here and noticed that others have had this issue, anyway i can fix this without having to get another unit?
I am still in the process of configuring it, but dont want to go too far ahead without getting the Wifi issue resolved. I will be contacting Da_G to do a system dump and see if i can put gingerblur on there.
Mods: If this thread can be integrated into another one, please do so.

I havent rooted it yet. Im still new to Android -- ive been on the corporate iPhone 3gs for a year now...waiting for a smartphone that would be a big bump up from my iphone. Never really felt any of the previous phones cut it / would be a big jump from what im doing on my 3gs. Having said that, my brother is samsung galaxy S user and is accustomed to android for the last 8 months or so..so we'll be playing with this phone all weekend and seeing where things go. Ive also contacted Da_G for a info on a system dump.

Update: one the Bell atrix forum, one of the posters mentioned that it was my security type for my network. I am able to connect to my work network fine so i think ill change the security type at home and give it another go. for now, all is good!

Thanks. But still weird that WPA2 only works until you SIM unlock, and after that, you need mixed mode.

[Q] how to unlock tab?

I read threads here that some tabs are locked and some are not. So how do people with locked tabs get their tabs unlocked? is it only can be done by samsung itself.

What are you wanting to unlock it for?

Doesn't unlocking allow for rooting? From the few rooting guides I've come across, the unlocked ones can be rooted whereas the locked ones can't. For me the only thing I need to root for it to do the adhoc wpa supplicant fix.

Thats unlikely. Android in general has a problem with adhoc wifi. What device do you have or is your tab connecting to?
In my case i have a Treo Pro with wmwifirouter and since my Tab does not see theadhoc network it creates, i use bluetooth tethering instead.

Believe me its working with iphone i have used outside of home maybe tab is compatible with iphone? I haven't tried the bluetooth tethering i will check that now and will post you.

You can still root with a locked boot loader... See here

WiFi tether works fine with my iPhone as well.

Are you using the built-in iPhone wifi tethering feature or a jailbroken tethering app?

Locked bootloader
Near as I can tell, only Samsung has the encryption keys to allow unlocking the bootloader. It doesn't seem to be necessary though, I got my locked tablet rooted so, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

kevin i wanted to know just because the first tab i got was locked the replacement i got is unlocked so i just want to make sure it is not a returned item. I thought someone own it before and unlock it and sent back to bb or samsung for some reason. It's good to know that there is no way someone can unlock it and in that case the one i have is new.

Flash different carrier ROM to my phone

Hello! I have the T-Mobile version of the V20 and I read that i may be possible to get unlimited hotspot on my phone (I'm using metro PCs) if I use a phone from another carrier like AT&T and was hoping someone could help me with flashing a different ROM that's not T-Mobile to this phone so I can test the theory. I've tried vpns I've tried root hotspot apps and none of them work so this is kinda my last resort lol. Thanks you guys.

Yes I have and that doesn't work either. I've tried pretty much any method I could find. WiFi tether router doesn't even work.
