I need help setting up my unlock HD2 for AT&T use.
I cannot access web and get MMS because all my settings are for T-mobile (default). Where can i get the settings for it or .cab file to cahnge it over to work with AT&T?
Is anyone in the same boat as me?
Previous phone = Iphone 3GS
bought HTC HD2
Unlocked it (Remote code)
inserted official AT&T 3G sim card
phone is working but without data connection/MMS
Here is what you need. Just apply the cab and reboot.
Hope it helps, worked perfectly for me.
Never mind my sig. I need to update it.

if someone could give a bit of help with this that would be incredible. I haven't been able to get it to work either.
thank you
if you plan on switching roms, the newer ones usually have the function built in to configure them according to what carrier you are on. I found that either Kumar's or NRG's roms work pretty well as I'm currently using Kumar's Lite WWE rom

Copy the cab file to your phone and then use file explorer to go to it and double click on it and run. I will agree with the post above, 99% of custom roms come with a connection setup that lets you choose ATT and it downloads the settings for you. Plus helps out the OS lol
I got the file installed but still no luck, any other ideas??
Media Net
I have installed the media net but it still doesn't work.
I did the same thing and the people at at&t told me that it want allow you to have data connetion through them. They were wrong. Call 1-866-449-8358, they will hook you up with the settings. You want have to download anything. Once you have a data connection it will show that you are connected to edge. But, it is 3g.
I got this figured out. go to settings/Wireless Control/Data Connection/Advance(tab on the bottom)/Selectnetworks/ and then change the both drop down bars to Media Net.
Don't forget to turn the Data Connection "on" in the wireless controls.
It worked just fine on my HD2
I used the cab file on the first page, installed and restarted. Mobile internet works fine, but I still can't receive MMS. The pics are the right size so I am lost as to where to go next. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanx.

Can you make sure these are the settings in your mms server info
Name AT&T MMS
Server Name....AT&T MMS
Ip Address....wireless.cingular.com
Port number...80
Server Address....http://mmsc.cingular.com
Connect Via....Media Net
Message Size limit....600 (this is the max ATT will allow)
Wap Version....Wap 2.0
Thanks guys for all your help. Got it figured out. The problem was that I couldn't find where the heck to get to mms settings in the first place. Taken care of.

How can you be sure that HD2 will run on ATT 3g? alot of people are saying it probably won't have 3g, but you get an EDGE network... i really need to know this because i might switch to att from tmobile.
I am in between iPhone's (3GS-iPhone 4), but I have an HTC HD2 T-Mobile USA version as a secondary phone. I returned my 3GS (which I just recently upgraded to after losing my 3G iPhone) so I could be eligible for the upgrade price on the iPhone 4 and I only have the HD2 right now (love the phone by the way). Anyway....
Quick question: I tried applying MEdia Net/MMS Settings both manually and with the cab file, but I cannot seem to get data working on my HD2. My AT&T account is not on Media Net it is on the iPhone data plan, so could that be the reason why I cannot get data to work on my HD2?
I tried figuring out the problem on my own but I'm obviously not getting it done...thx for the help.
p.s. The HD2 is running on stock software. I have not applied any roms or hacks to it.
OS: 5.2.21892
ROM: 2.13.531.1 (90963) WWE
Sense: 2.5.20121412

Funny, I'm in the same situation! I sold my iPhone yesterday in prep for the iPhone 4 and got the HTC HD2 from T-Mobile to use for a couple of weeks (also got it unlocked by them the next day!).
After installing the .cab file, reboot your phone then go and change your data settings in the HD2. I'm on the iPhone data plan with AT&T as well and everything thing seems to be working fine.

The T-Mobile HD2 will not work on AT&T's 3G bands, period...only edge. You'll have to get the Australian (Telstra) model to be able to use AT&T 3G.
Choosing baseband
Interesting because in Phone Settings there is the option of choosing your baseband between AT&T's or T-Mobile's or to put it on Auto. I just chose Auto to be safe as I'm using an AT&T sim.
On hold with HTC Support so I'll shortly know definitely.
Thanks

It worked perfectly.. I will now keep the phone. If I couldn't get it to work I was going to sell the phone. But now I am glad I kept it.. Thanks again..
so a friend of mine wants me to flash his continuum to cricket. can n e one tell me how to connect it to QPST??? thx. ive already used google, ppcgeeks, here of course, &hc.
You need to put the phone in modem mode.. It is in settings.
Tell him to sell it. Only talk and text work. Ppp configs revert back to verizon so three g won't work.
And it's not called modem mode. It's Dial up networking.

There are a lot of guides for flashing cricket to Android phones
The only thing that differs from say, flashing it to a droid 2 global, is getting the phone connected to qpst initially..

I've looked for guides and so far have not found any for the continuum flashed to cricket on 2.1 update 1. I know how to use qpst and I've programed it onto my NV items and it states 7 written but isn't it suppose to say 12? But otherwise I have talk and text but haven't figured out internet or mms. So if someone can point me where I have to go and I will be glad to do it. Thank-you. Z
That's because there are none xP as I was saying, you can use pretty much any of the guides for any android phone...
And I am not sure, but doesn't the internet settings hide under the m.ip tab in qpst? I don't know...
I remember though, there is a file you are supposed to set up so that it automatically sets up a proxy out something xP
What you need is to talk to someone who got it to work xP but I highly doubt you'll find that person xP

Do you have issues with the V20? Do you have tethering in your mobile plan? Are you using it on AT&T?

Yes At&t......I will need root then because I'm unlimited data....This sucks......If I want to use my data by tethering, I should be able too. This is dumb
In the same boat with Verizon on unlimited. Foxfi works, but only via USB (cable connected) or Bluetooth (slow ~1 Mbps). I love this phone, but miss being able to use the Hotspot for the rare times I need it.
I believe there is a beta feature on the pdanet USB client on the PC side that will allow a hotspot generated from the computer attached via USB. Clunky but better than nothing if you have other devices that need access to the connection in a stationary setting for now.

Thanks for the help ..WIll use FoxFi / PDA USB with cable for now. Good looking out!!
I'm really looking forward to a solution for this. I've been holding on to my old S5 since I haven't been able to find a newer removable-battery phone that allows for rooted hotspot usage on the old grandfathered unlimited plan :/
Now that we have root, I wonder how we can enable this?
I use to just change a couple of numbers in buildProp on other phones (Rom Toolbox .prop)
Any help would be appreciated
EDIT:
Found the below info but I don't think it will work. I DID NOT try this but it is tempting.
4. Connect your phone to your PC and issue the below commands:
adb shell
echo "net.tethering.noprovisioning=true" >> /system/build.prop
adb reboot
5. Now, install Terminal Emulator app from the Play Store [HERE] and launch it.
6. In Terminal Emulator, enter below code one by one:
su
settings put global tether_dun_required 0
exit

Yeah I'm not entirely sure how we might be able to get it to work. I've tried adding dun to the APN - edited the build.prop and added the lines you put above into the build.prop file. Those worked to no avail.
I edited the line inside build.prop "ro.build.target_operator=ATT". I changed ATT to "OPEN", and that did happen to allow tethering. But from the devices I connected to my phone - they were unable to connect to the internet. It was almost like ATT was blocking service of tethering. I didn't try to do all of those edits at the same time though. Perhaps maybe then?

Yeah I tried using all three of those methods - but it seems like only the method of turning the ro.build.target_operator to OPEN avoids the "Authorizing" screen and lets the Tethering turn on. But while the phone is still able to access the internet, the other devices cannot access the internet - having DNS issues.
I'm curious if perhaps the "system/app/Entitlementcheck-" app retrieves a token to allow other devices to connect, and using "OPEN" makes it so the entitlementcheck application is not even used. Not sure entirely how it works. I've seen in other device sections, such as the Pixel, where someone edited the phone's own entitlementcheck app equivalent to let them use tethering (here). Not sure if it would be possible to something similar here.

I have the US996 unlocked version my build.prop ro.build.target_operator=NAO I have hotspot so i decided to change it to ATT because im using att i wanted the att signal icon I did get the att signal icon however i noticed my tethering option was gone so i changed it back to NAO instead of ATT
I am on sprint. And i rooted my v20 phone. I am on unlimited also. But sprint gives me 5gb tether for free on my plan. Then they slow you down. The built in tether did not work after root. So i had bought a app called Wi-Fi tether router. And it works.
Re: Work around
Were you able to find a way to root the LG V20 or find a way to get around the tethering and hotspot block/ authorization??? Please Help !! I have no idea how to root but I heard there is a minor root I can do but not sure how to do it and DEF dont want to mess my phone up.... Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I just did this and you solved one of my pet peeves but not my tethering issues.
The phones still connect to my phone however they have no internet while tethering.
What you did solve is (by changing the prop to NAO vs ATT) is removing the annoying carrier name on the left side of the screen and also removed the annoyingly large ATNT 4G symbol. Instead its a neatly placed, small 4glte icon.
This issue is still persisting even after changing the tether enforcement to 0 from 5 in the system xml

Well I'm confused then. I was able to do the last update with a t-mobile Sim in the phone? Right now when I try checking for updates it errors out saying it couldn't be authenticated. Anyone have any clue?
Hope I can help you!
How to update your system if you're not using the carrier from your S8(+) version.

Try to get at least an inactivated Verizon sim card from any Verizon store or you can also try a normal working Verizon sim. I had AT&T Galaxy S5 and it needed the carrier's sim card to even check for update. I took the sim, put it in, checked for update and was able to install it.
Fix to your issue
Hey guys so I do also share the same situation, I have a Verizon s8+ yet I have T-Mobile One as my coverage
Because it's not authenticated as a Verizon provided account it simply won't update
Now.. the solution to updating isn't directly on your device.
It's within the Samsung Smart switch App for either Mac or windows, you can run an update through there with little to no problems at all and finally keep your device up to date without having to return it for an unlocked one.
Just a brief note regarding the smart switch App, keep in mind that sometimes the update will freeze at a certain percentage on the computer so just be sure to close the app out only if your Samsung device hasn't received the green upload screen yet.
Hopefully this helps out alot of you guys ?
Best regards

I'd like to flash mine to t mobile, I'm begging you to help me with this!!!
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
I've seen a bunch of info on the forums on how to flash the T-Mo ROM on an s8 - as well as flashing the Samsung Unlocked ROM on the s8 but frankly, almost all the threads are from back at the phone launch - and it is unclear to me which roms & programs to search for.
In a similar vein - I'm a noob to the whole process using oden - which I think is what i would need to use. I have experience from years ago running cyanogen mods on a nook tablet and messing with windows phones - but nothing recent and things have changed a lot.
I've read conflicting reports throughout the forums on doing this...
I'm running a VZW Branded (but it's now "unlocked")
Model: s8 SM-G-950U
Build #: NRD90M.G950USQS2BQL1
Baseband #: G950USQS2BQL1
What I'm looking for (really the right word is "NEED"):
Access to lower 700 A block (full band 12 use)
Ability to get OTA Updates
Mobile Hotspot Functionality
WiFi Calling
VoLTE
Bixby
If I could have these all running the Samsung Unlocked ROM - then that would be preferred...
If not - I would want to flash the T-Mobile ROM.
I need to know ASAP as I only have 14days from today (2/14/18) to figure this out or go back to VZW
Many thanks!
~chris
So when i first came to sprint they were awesome. they were lax on the hotspot hacks but now they are pricks about it. of course there used to be a way to do anything before but now a days not to many developers wanna compete with sprints security. I hope someone comes across a native hotspot hack. I need it cause i cant afford to pay for a hotspot service and .5 a gb is not enough so yeah id like a method to get unlimited hotspot from sprint. which like i said used to be possible.. forgive me for my rambling. ive tried to access apn from different locations but no luck. ive tried to use adb shell to setup hotspot still like i said no luck.
