Hi People,
I want some help. I have HERA100 and I lost the battery cover. Now I see there are two types available. But for my type I cant find battery cover (My Herald is the left one from the WiKi page).
Are both type hardware compatible. I mean can I use the cover from the other type on mine?
Thanks
G.

Hello all
I require some input from some of the gurus of xda-devs and its a question im guessing a lot people would like to know the answer to
Can we swap spare parts from say a Cingular 8525 to a MDA Vario II? (Herm200 --> Herm300)
what i mean to say is, lets say we could only find a front keypad for a cingular 8525, would it fit into the vario II?of course the orientation of keys would be correct for the cingular and not for the vario so you'd need a new front keypad aswell, but on the 'technical' level, is this possible?
many thanks
Don't quote me on this BUT I believe I read a post from Mike Channon saying that internally ALL the Hermes variants were the same. Be best to search through his threads, website or ask the maestro himself...
Cheers...
Yes that's probably about 99% true, BUT I notice the d/pad layout on some variants is quite different and so the underlying board may well be different - have not had time to fully check this.
Mike
Thanks for clearing that up Mike, as I said I wasn't totally sure...
Cheers...
many thanks
so mike, my theoretical scenario, would it work?
if i was to get a cingular 8525 d-pad board and a 8525 keypad to go over it, technically it ought to work right?

I tried to check that out and did not find much info. BUT I see no reason for it not to work circuit wise. You might need to remap keys.
Have you checked that the 8525 keypad will fit the housing you have?
Mike
id happily modify the housing as a temporary thing, but i reckon i'll give it a shot and report back. i have a hunch it will fix the white screen issue.
does anyone know of anyone who has a brick they'd like to sell?!
Ebay is good, bought a couple of dud jasjams off there to fix mine and wouldn't you know it, one actually worked except for the camera & battery. Ended up cannobilizing MY Jasjam to fix up the "broken" one I purchased for parts....
Cheers...
I would like to replace the housing of my Tytn II EU
Including the front keyboard and the case buttons.
Where can I find instructions how to open the case?
Where to buy the best quality (original) housing?
Help appreciated!
John
First, you dont specify which Kaiser you're looking to disassemble. 2nd, we have a search feature on this forum. It works rather well too. You could of typed less in the search box and found your answer almost immediately. But instead, you chose to contribute more clutter to our forum. Thanks.
I found this in 2 seconds flat...

Can you tell I haven't had my coffee yet?
Thanks for the quick reply.
Sorry to kick-in an open door, but I am new to the forum and could not find it.
I just added the information in my original message.
I should have mentioned it in the title.
I am looking for a detailed instruction on desassembling the Tytn II
Thanks John

I can let you know from personal experience that it is very simple to get in and strip down the phone to the bare case. I bought a very well used and battle scarred phone on ebay and replaced the case in under half an hour; (proper tools used) a T6 and a small phillips were used. To separate the casing from PCBs i just used my fingernail, but a credit card can be used ( it was just cumbersome for me). Mike has got the expanation down with video and everything. If you run into any problems, just give a shout!
Hi there,
Maybe someone can explain me, where is the hermes's slide indicator (or.. I don't the correct term, sorry for my bad English). My friend gave me his phone, after he was trying to change phone's cover to original htc tytn cover (of course, top part of the case did not fit on that hermes, but bottom case fit's ok). And after he assembled all parts - phone did not recognize when you are sliding the keyboard, and the screen is not turning to landscape position.
And now I want to fix it for myself, ant had tried to search where is that indicator, which 'sees' when you slide the phone. And when I disassembled - I just cant identify that thing. Only one place in my inexperienced eye is suspicious - http://img65.imageshack.us/img65/8708/dscf7321.jpg this place, in other side of LCD, where the hinges(?) is placed. But I can't understand, how its working (I have other HTC TYTN, but it's under warranty, so I cant dissasembly it to try use other parts, o smth..).
So, I would be grateful if someone could lead me to the right road' to fix this problem... if it's possible.
Thanks,
Laimis.
Yes your friend forgot to move the screen orientation magnet from the old case to the new one!! New cases do not have the magnet attached you have to move it from the old case.
See here:

Thank you, Mike!
you were right there is no magnet on the new case, so now I will wait until my friend will send me an old case.
God luck!

The only way it can work is if it is identical, not just similar. Even TyTn screens cannot be used with all other TyTns. The reason is that the TyTn for example had 3 different manufacturers of screen. Each one of those had a compatible digitizer circuit to match the screen. So, you might well find that a screen fits, the ribbon cable connects, but all you get is a white screen (because the screen is mismatched with the digitizer circuit) Manufacturers include the likes of Toppoly and Hitachi.
So, you need to check the product numbers on the back of the screens. Or indeed search these forums, I'm sure someone will have given details for the Kaiser or linked to a site that gives the product number (either the HTC code or the Manufacturers code). I'd check myself, but time is short.

Finally I found you!!!
I think you are the expert that may help me
I have a broken Tytn ii LCD and i bought the replacment and the tools for dismantle from ebay.
everything is ready but what i lack is the method
I heared and read many threads that say there is a method to replace the LCD only with undo the 4 screws (without dismantle the base) and this what i want exactly.
Could you provide me with any instructions, photos, details that would help me ???
Thanks in advance
Hello,
My phone's battery cover was broken and i can't replace it. This is the only option (www ipaqrepair co.uk/ipaqpart1759.html), but it is too expensive for me.
Does anybody have another idea?
Thanks!
Emil from Hungary. (Sorry for my poor English.)
You could get one of these:
www repairhppda com/high-capacity-battery-3600mah-ipaq-910912914910c912c914c-p-1210.html
It includes a back cover designed to fit the new battery. Mind you, it's way bulkier than the original.
