APPS2SD causing boot problems - G1 General

Hi there,
I have a g1 unlocked with JF 1.51 installed. I did the whole apps2sd procedure (with the lucid REM scribt) it works great and I like the ability to install apps on my 8 gb class 6 sdhc card. My only problem is, that when I have to reboot my phone it hangs at the "android" logo.
Any fixes for this? I think it has todo with the apps2sd because if I dont apply the patch the phone boots normal

Apps to Sd and now g1 screen frozen

I had JF 1.5 cupcake with hard spl and apps 2 sd2 well I noticed my phone was lagging a lot and force closing a lot so I wiped it while I was at work and it was much faster then I restored my apps and market kept forcing close after doing marcus apps2sd commands but not the program.
then i wiped again and used jf lucids app "lucid app" and it still forced closed then I did the wipe again and did the marcus again using the terminal not the apps2sd2. well I gave up so I bought a new card for 3 bucks brand new never opened 8gb class 4 from my buddy.
now I tried to unmount the card and put the 8gb straight in out of the box and the g1 screen freezes. so I thought it was because of the apps so I put the old sdcard in and it booted phone then I made the biggest mistake ever apparently and formated the card with paragon the old sdcard I mean.
now the phone won't boot just hangs on the g1 screen no matter which card I put in and I can still get into recovery but am not sure what do from here I've tried wiping it with the old sdcard and the new sdcard and with no sdcard nothing works.
I have adb 1.5 on my pc and everytime I try to push update.zip to /sdcard/update.zip it says sbin/sh adb: not found.
what can I do.
it's my only phone.

whats the error message it says when your wiping ?? try to use haykuro rom, and see if that will work
the wiping goes fine no errors it just hangs on the g1 screen.
I can't load anything on the sdcard I broke my usb sdcard reader so I dont' have one now I always use the phone.
is there a way to fastboot and do it?
am I gonna have to reflash rc29 and start all over again?

yea you need a card reader, if you where in dallas, i have plenty of those, they come in handy when flashes dont work right
I was able to flash the images seperately now I'm gonna flash jfmod back onto the phone so far so good except my service keeps cutting out.
ok new problem I managed to get the phone to load like I said earlier and installed the new sdcard now I did another wipe and then applied the update of JFMod and its stuck yet again.
when I go into fastboot and try fastboot update update.zip it says something like android-info.txt not found

Using different SD cards on hero roms

I got a new PQI microsd 8gb 6-class card today, and had just finished getting my hero perfectly set up for my liking... Well I wanted to use the card so I formatted it using the best partition tool known: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=543985 (i've tried amons too.)
And after I finish I reboot the device... Screen goes blank, boot won't load. So I have to install from update.zip yadda yadda.
This ONLY seems to be the case for any hero rom, not cyanogen roms.
But, why? And is there a way to avoid it. I have like 6 sd cards laying around, and being able to ONLY use 1 at a time seems kinda sucky. And w/ cyanogen you can just format any sd and put it in and it reboots fine.
Any suggestions?
Thnx

Same SD card work on certain version Android bt wont work on other versions Android

I have a class 6 Transcend 8GB card, which cannot run any version of Android. Then, I bought a class 2 Sandisk 8GB card. At first, it can run some certain version of Android, then, after the new version comes out, the "Waiting for SD card" problem happened again... the Android 2.5a cannot be run, so dose the android 2.2 froyo cannot be run as well... and the version before that 2.5a, such as 2.0 also cannot be run....
I dont know why some version of the Android can be run on that sandisk card, but some cannot(all of the new version cannot).....what can I do then?
BTW, the card was formated before i try other Android.
Thanks guys!
uh..... someone know the reason?
Hello,
I have the VERY same problem here.
As stated in hardware forum, the trancend type6 8go card dont work at all...
I have 3 Sandisk type 2 8go cards i use with different types of distribs:
_[Glossy Themed Eclair] (v2.01) +[Android 2.1 with SENSE (beta) (804) : Running fine, but 3D in not fine. have to disable animations. Market OK, phone OK. Configured Gmail, Exchange and other with no problem. Launching process (in text mode) asks if we want to lauch installer?? what is that for?
_Android_2.0.1_Eclair_Glossy_2.0_nightly_2010-03-20 : runs ok but is poorly configures at first. runs fast and stable for me.
INSTALL INFOS: first run hold a bit after the "ANDROID" text message post calibration but after waiting i have the "X" animation.
Then the configuration process: no language selection, it selected FRENCH automaticly according to teh operator i guess in my case (im french). Installer propose to bypass the gmail config process too.. Then localisation validation, and parameters save in the gmail account.. Last step ins Hours/date format and its finished.
I had to manually configure exchange and othe rpop emails...
Seems that all the HTC specific stuff is nonexisten in this release.
Basic but fast ans simple..
_Android_2.1_Eclair_Espresso_HTC_Sense_nightly_2010-04-09 : but have a "media" process perma crashing => cannot download from Market
INSTALL INFOS: Nothing special untill the booting animation. its a Cycling "HTC" and "HERO" animation with a small android waving in the "O"
After 30mns of animation i took the decision to reboot the device.
_XDAndroid 2.1 (rel 2.5a) : runs but will never go out of the boot animation
_XDAndroid 2.2 (rel 1.2) : "Waiting for SD card"
_XDANDROID.2.1.AOSP.13.06.10 : "Waiting for SD card"
_XDANDROID.2.2.AOSP.18.7.10.BETA.V2 : "Waiting for SD card"
_Unholy AOSP Donut themed.Noche Oscura.07.30.10 : i can't manage to get it boot from the ext2 partition, still figuring out..
I will try to update the distribs status.
wow!!u tried almost every version of android now....!!after all... what is the reason that the same type of sd card cannot run the same version of android?
and how about the developers, what kind of sd card they are using right now? i guess its better to follow their choices

I have the same class 2 sandisk 8G card, but I never saw "Waiting for SD card"
I could run any of the android version, even with ext2 partition. And I also have one class 6 sd card without any problem to run all of the android version.I'm so lucky.
uh.....what is going on after all......probably that is not class type problem....should be something eles~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think it *may* have somethnig to do with what you or the WM Os is doing at the moment you start HARET.
For instance, on an already installed Adroid version (datastore created etc..) i have different case depending on HOW i lauch HARET
Via a haret shortcut directly published on home TAB = almost 100% of success
Via a haret exe lauch from the file explorer (it means i positionned the SD root as current directory in explorer) = some case of "waiting for SD card" but quite rare
Via a haret exe lauch from TotalCommander = some case of "waiting for SD card" but more than when its launched via FileExplorer
All this are experiments and the results are unpredictables.
I am quite sure that the WM version you installed have a direct impact on the boot sequence ans on androit itself.
Personnaly i run BICHON's last cook of WM6.55 (htc-touch-hd.forumactif.biz/hd-bich0n-f47/rom-ultimate-sense-655-hd1-by-bich0n-uc-capable-v20-dispo-25-06-2010-new-t25432.htm)
I'm getting a similar problem to you with glossy, 2.1 (2.5) and Froyo...

Phone does not boot up with MicroSD card inserted after playing with Android ROM

Okay...so I played around with Energy's Droid ROM (the latest one), backed up my microSD card and went to play. Came back to winmo and now I can't seem to boot up the phone from a soft reset if the memory card is inserted. Right after the flashy 'X' formation (running 28th Energy Cookie Dinik Glass Theme), the phone's screen just goes blank!
So...I remove the card, and restart the phone, and the phone boots up just fine. I tried this with a blank 1gig microSD and it still does the same thing---what is the phone looking for in the memory card that would halt the startup?
I have task 29'd the phone, reformatted the memory on the card, and still the same issue.
Any ideas?
Did you install a boot loader or something to run Android off the
SD card at windows start-up? Does that Droid ROM come with one built in? Put the android on the SD and see if it boots to it.
Tried it, still does the same thing, freezes after 'X' animation, but starts up fine w/o memory card...
android, on the other hand, works just fine...
*sigh*
And, sorry, it's not a Droid ROM, it's
LEO|¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.- Energy -.¸¸.·´¯ |Aug 28| 21914||23127 | Sense 2018 |
update: no, never mind, it does it with Android at startup as well.
found out what may have been the issue (though yet to be thoroughly tested). The reflashed Energy ROM, was updating itself using the xda_uc restore. This is what was for some reason messing up everything--gotta start fresh, I guess..
I had the same issue with Artemis v14. It ran fine initially but the problem appeared after a while. I flashed to a newer version and formetted the SD card to get rid of the problem.
I doubt it had much to do with running Android.

WP7 inoperative after restart

Hi all
It's the second time that, after restarting my phone, it loses the graphic interface
first with a DFT rom and after reinstalling Xbmod nodo rom it gives me the same problem.
Nothing to do I had to reinstall a fresh rom
SDCard problem? Any idea?

U should try using a different SD Card, ur SD card may not be compatible with wp7 :/
Thx
I'm trying now to install xbmod on my brand new sandisk 16Go C4 SDHC Card
I'll tell you what's the matter with it
If this is an sd card issue then you should buy a windows phone compatible sd card. ATT sells them. Only 8gb as of right now but im using it as we speak and i havent one reboot since. Purchase price is $32.00 (actually says windows phone on the packaging)
I have a similar problem, after installing W7 on HD2,
I synced google account and then just wanted to try soft restart,
but the phone went to constant restart mode - it shows green HTC text on white backround, then MAGLDR screen, then W7 boot picture and then restarts again in cycles.
removing SIM does not help.
removing SD will boot to where it sayes I have SD error and can only make emergency calls.
What was your solution?
how to I get back to MAGLDR menu to reistall W7?
I have tried Sandisk 8GB (class 2 and class 4 both) and Transcend 4GB class 4 , with no issues.
I Too faced the same issue during Flashing of XbModROM on my HD2, and I started the mobile few times without sdcard, and again put it back in.
I assume its like my old celeron PC recognizing a dead CD-ROM.
I still have this problem and there seems to be no solution.
a fresh install of WP7 works fine, without crashing, but I have to take care that battery wont drain, because after the first shut-down WP7 wont load, and I have to do a reinstall.
##TRY##
use the unlocker tool to unlock ur SD card,
and use HD2s Stock ROM
and start install from scratch, remember to format the SD card on fat32 (using a nokia phone if possible

i had the same issues when flashing xbox/yuki xda rom. try doing a couple of hard resets. strangely enough that worked after about four of them lol and my phones been working great since. its probably your sd card as well. ive used a few class 4 cards to no avail. i'm currently using the stock sandisk 16gb class 2 card i got with my hd2 and it hasnt failed me yet
okey,
my solution was - I bought a new microSD card, and now it has loaded for 10 times, so -> problem solved!?
Now i'm trying all options to unlock the 8gig card I had problems with - so to use it elsewhere.
