that i dont know. i just use a card reader and format then depending on what build im using i wipe and start fresh
same thing happened to me last week on one of the dudes builds. My sd card was ruined. I tried to reformat it and then repartition it but it wouldnt let me repartition even though i deleted the old one. I messed with it for hours, before some one told me that it was ruined. all the transfering of info back and forth fried it i guess. I ended up buying a new one, this time class 6 (old one was class 2) I got it for 20 bucks (8gb) not to shabby of a price! sorry for your misfortune. Good luck

The same thing happened to me about 4 days ago, however Im running cyangones 3.4 Rom not the dudes, tell me ....were you running any themes at the time like the hero theme or any other? Are you using apps to sd as in do you have your sd card partitioned ? Im trying to figure out why this happened to me also, as of right now it has happened twice in 4 days then, I wiped my phone, reformatted / repartitioned my sd card and am not using any custome theme with cyanogens 3.4 rom and it seems to be ok. I only have a few apps right now because I want to make sure it doesnt happen again before I load up my sd card again with apps.
i had no themes and i was using app2sd. but i wasnt using any apps at the time.. just thought i would ad my 2 cents

ok
I reformatted then put files back on G1(including the dudes cupcake 1.3r2(cant give up on the perfect mod lol)) then wiped and Alt-s....only diffrence this time is that i am gonna use appmanager and not put everything on class 2 8 gig so it will not burn out...and hopefully it want destroy my sd card.Thankx to everyone you guys were a big help.
very interesting topic....
same here:
I tried with 3 other sdcards, 2 of them are 100% ok, NO GO, doesnt work anymore. First I thought that my G1 reader has a problem, some time it works, some time not. Im on dudes 12b with apps2sd. The fact that no card works tells me:
- Phone error
or
- Software problem (really strange if this is the problem)
I wipe right now and will tell you if the card works again....
i had similar problem last week when switching from cyan 3.4 to dudes 1.3 i first tried just doing an alt - w and that gave me a lot of errors and force closes so i started over and reformatted/repartitioned my sd. Now my sd card doesnt read when i plug into pc but still works in phone. everytime i want to change/edit sd i have to pull sd out and use an adapter..it sucks cuz the lil sd latch is such a pain to open and close on the g1..
ok wipe didnt anything... really strange thing I can do nothing anymore, card is not readable (in pc it is readable, but not in my g1)....
Config:
Dudes 1.2b
No themes, no extras
APPS2SD, 500 MB EXT Partition
8 GB Class 6 Card
If anyone has a hint for me, any help is welcome.
could this have something to do with apps2sd... this is happening to me as well, and it only started when i switched from jac 1.4 to the dudes 1.3rc1 it works good for about 24 hours sans the bluetooth issue. then the next time i check the phone its all whacked out and says to reformat the card.
Found this, hope that helps, unfortunately I dont have an external reader here:
source: http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f7/unable-to-retain-formatting-on-sd-card-17338/index2.html
Turns out this is no more than an annoyance affecting the 1.5 JF builds. (not sure it's exclusive to those).
Anyway, long story short. The phone will always complain about the partitioning on the sd card and offer to "fix" the problem by re-formatting.
The key to the problem is to reboot the phone after the card has been re-partitioned. This will make the annoying pop-up dissapear and keep the partitioning table as defined.
Blank
Rerun apps to SD, uninstall reinstall all listed apps.
I had had this happen also. But I think most of it was my doing. I have a bad habit of not removing device safely after I copy files, I just use the eject button lol.. my p.c. even told me that I had removed usb device before the files were finshed bing prossed.. well whatever happend it didn't fry my card I just had to reformat it and. Run martins great skrip over agin and it was good to go.. I even went to buy a new usb cable just in case lol .. on hero/rosie running smooth ; )
Hi,
I have been on this forum for the past 2-3 days trying to get android on my gf's HD2 and it just wont have it.
I have tried MCCM's HD v4 Desire one
I have tried Froyo 1.5
I have tried DL Desire Series, both SD and MAGLAR.
The ones where you click CLRCAD.exe then haret.exe either say it doesent have certificates to run or parts are missing. Or it goes to a black scree and gets stuck on "Jumping To Kernel" and it stays like that for ages (tested for 1 hour, never budged)
The DL desire series via MAGLAR wont work either, I need HSPL (sp?) to install MAGLAR but HSPL keeps reporting back that the file Rapi.dll is missing.
My SPL version is 1.42**** so technically thats right ( from what I have read )
I have tried formatting the SD card via PC and device, also tried a factory reset and an additional 2 other SD cards. Still nada.
What else can it be? Someone mentioned the radio but there is so many questions being asked in a specific thread that mine gets lost and since this is more of a global issue I thought a thread of its own is deserved
I really want this and will go to any length to get it ( not keen on ROM flashing thought, would like to avoid turning the handset into a hammer rather than a phone)
Hope I havent busted any rules
Cheers,
Gib
You need radio 2.14 or more for Android.
aka, upgrade your ROM.
You are not alone
You are not alone here.
I have been having this problem too, I get stuck on the HTC white screen. though I haven't tried much ROM but I have tried formating and reflahing of my WM ROM.
I once did a stock ROM official update with: (RUU_Leo_S_HTC_NLD_3.14.404.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2 .15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship)
ever since I have not been able to find how to flash using SPL, I have been flashing using SSPL_RU and my radio is 2.15.50.14.
Could this reason be the problem.
I need help please I want to have a feel of droid.
Know the feeling
I have been trying all the different android magldr sd roms and everytime its the same story. First boot fine. Second boot and on it just hangs at the green htc logo. I have tried so many things i don't know what to do next.
Have you tried one of the Energy ROM's? I found on my unlocked HD2 that these were the only roms (going back a while now) that I could get Android running off an SD card. I've since heard that there is a basically blank rom for people who want to run nothing but android. It's a small rom, only about 30mb.
It's in a few places around the board. I can't remember what the name of that one is off the top of my head, but any of the Energy series, or the Miri ROM's apparently work too.
Good luck!

Ater trying some nand roms i came back to the orignal firmware( the same as you).
And i also have this problem , it just load into a picture with htc on it.
Have you tried using a different SD card? My Sandisk 8gb didn't accept anything. I had an old 512mb laying around that came with my E90, loaded SuperRAM on it (aprox 450mb including data.img) and it booted straight away.
2.15.50.* is the right radio for most SD builds, make sure you have enough free space on SD. most builds have at least 512mb if not 1gb data.img which gets created when first boot. If runs out of space it will get stuck on boot screen. No hspl required with 3.14 HTC winmo rom
I also try to get Android in my HD2 (energy ROM). I am somewhat puzzled however: I want to flick back and forth between WM and Android and many programs I have reside onto my SD card. I have read in an earlier post that before attempting Android I should format my card - does this mean that I cannot have WM data (programs etc) in the same SD card I run android? or that I can transfer them back AFTER I manage (if) to load Android?. Thank you
The SD card has to be formatted in FAT32. Just to make sure the card is clean I copy all my data to my pc, format the card and transfer it all back.

OK thank you - got it!
Unfortunately I cannot get passed the green HTC splash screen - my HD2 stays there for time no end and the only solution is to take battery out. Any suggestions?
Assuming you've got everything set up properly (right radio, hspl, ...) which you can find on the Android forum. I think you'll have to try using a different brand of sd card. Some cards simply don't play nice with Android.
Got uber annoyed with the SD method, just ended up doing a full scale flash to ROM. Was easier lol

I would almost agree with that except, i have 2 exactly the same 16 gb cards, each with a 3 gb fat32 primary partition. 1 loads android but wont allow me to do things like take pictures[it says there isn't an sd card.] The second card just hangs at the green htc screen. Even if I copy the working partition to the other card, it still hangs.

Thanks for this Info. I didn't take into consideration that the file will be enlarged during booting. The copied Android folder was 508MB in size but this got enlarged to about 1.3GB during boot up. I thought if I just leave about 1.2GB in all the SD card I have been trying that it should be enough. But I was wrong.
Thanks a lot I have done multiple reboot without any problem.
I am enjoying my first Android feel.
Thanks once again.
Android on HD2 hates most SD Cards
From my own limited experience to also having read many posts I can say that most sd cards prevent Android from running properly on the hd2. Mine works fine with radio 2.14/2.15 and the stock Sandisk 16gb card that came with my tmous hd2, but I recently tried a wintec 16gb card that made Android run like a broke-wheel-cart and other sd cards I have laying around make it fail.
I think everyone needs to add what card they are using to their signature, or else we might all just end up howling in the wind.
Based on some feedback from another post I just ordered this Sandisk 16gb card from Newegg. It is Model # SDSDQ-016G-A11M . It is reported that that model# provides class10 speeds even though it is sold as a class2. It's use with Android is supposed to be good.
Greetings to whoever is reading this!
I am not a big poster but.. i really can't find a solution for this one.
I searched around the forums but i was not able to find something quite like it, maybe i overlooked something but anyway, here goes:
I recently got myself a 16GB class 6 Silicon Power microSD card. The problem i am having with this card is that whenever i try to boot into Android either from NAND or SD something rather bad happens. With NAND the boot is successful, however, after the phone is fully booted it starts to lag and is having trouble resuming from sleep (either takes an eternity to conjure up the lock screen or simply stays black) and so on.
On SD builds the story is a tad different (i've tried both MAGLDR and WinMo). On some builds Leo manages to boot initially and everything seems to work, no lag and so on, however, when i do one, in some cases more restart(s) then the phone ends up in a boot loop.
I have tried all the same ROMs with the same settings on other memory cards: a class 6 8GB and various 2gb cards with no problems.
Another fact that might be interesting is that the card has no problems working with WinMo 6.5 nor WP 7. Both boot and work fine even after several restarts. Also, i tried the card in my camera and it did not have any problems either.
So far i have tried:
Formatting the card
- using Windows (tried all possible cluster sizes and so on)
- using SD Formatter 3 (both quick and normal format)
- using EASEUS Partition manager
- using WinMo 6.5
- using Android
- i think i also tried something in CWM but don't remember exactly what i did.
Cloned my 8GB SD to the 16 GB card making it look as if it was 8GBs and had it's properties using EASEUS Partition Manager.
and also tied flashing a couple of different Radios but i don't think they had an effect...
I'm running Leo 512
HSPL 2.08
Radio: 2.14.50.04
Well, i think i mentioned everything.. if anyone has any advice, please post
If i remember anything else i'll edit
Thanks in advance!
[Q] Chronic "Unexpected Lack of Boot Partition on the SD card! Please Report"
Hi,
First let me say - YES, i have searched all of the forums here (and a number of other sites) and seem to have tried almost every option.
I have Chronic "Unexpected Lack of Boot Partition on the SD card! Please Report" problems. The farthest I get guaranteed is the cyanogenmod boot and menu (if I try and bring it up). I'm simply trying to get the SD card with cm7 to boot reliably and not eventually loose the boot partition.
Off and on since spring I was able to burn a CM7 image (verygreen's size agnostic, and one or two others I have since lost track of) to a SD card; have had it boot to cm7 and it work for awhile - but then eventual degraded into the no partition found error. the majority of the time it just doesn't work and results in that annoying purple black screen.
When it does work, it only works for awhile and then the boot partition can't be found; a few very small 3 of times - if I copied a new update it woke back up ad worked for a couple of reboots then lost the partition again.
Anybody got time to take pity on my melted brain and take a few guesses?
Clearly I'm not only missing something - but as things have gotten worse, am now missing more (if that is possible) as I'm going backwards to see why it no longer works at all.
At this point wrong has happened so often, I'm just lost on what even worked way back when I started.
I'm trying to backtrack to where it at least worked a little for a few days...but noob world is decaying into worse world.
I tried a couple of other, older processes and a multiboot menu one that seemed promising (plus could handle the new naming conventions for 7.2 CM7); but that one never even got past the missing boot partition.
I have tried approx 10 2gb SDCards, Sandisk, Kingston, Unknown; Class 4 and mixed.
I have tried 3 8GB SD Cards, Sandisk, class 4
I have tried 1 16gb SD Card, Sandisk, class 4
I have tried a Vivitar Micro SD Card Reader
I have tried the micro SD card Adapters in a laptop, and then in a sandisk USB adapter.
I even tried doing it all using the Nook color via a USB cable.
I even tried leaving the nook color off and connecting the USB cable to the PC to initiate a boot.
Using Windskimager
Using SD formatter
Have formatted Full erase and overwrite.
Tried leaving partition size alone
Tried partition resizing up to 250mb
Tried cm7 zip alone and with gapps
WinXP on 2 desktops and a laptop
It sounds like you have run the gamut of attempted resolutions.
That message is part of the verygreen partitioning script that runs every time the verygreen recovery is run. So, that means the normal boot kernel for CM7 is not loading.
The way the verygreen SD should operate is it starts with uImage and uRamdisk on the boot partition. Those are verygreen's recovery files. The first time it is booted, it looks at your emmc to be sure it is a nook. Then it looks at the SD to see if it has been partitioned yet. If it is not, it partitions it into those partitions necessary for installing ROMs. After partitioning, it looks for a zip to install. If it does not find one, it shuts down and the next time it boots it does the same thing until it finds the first ROM zip to install. If it finds one, it installs it. The first time it installs a ROM, it renames those uImage and uRamdisk verygreen files to uRecImg and uRecRam and they become the verygreen recovery files. And it installs new uImage and uRamdisk files from the zip to become your CM kernel and ramdisk. These are what normally will load in the future to start CM.
Now, with the disk partitioned and CM installed, ordinarily, after the cyanomod logo comes up, it boots by default to CM via the uImage and uRamdisk files. If you intercede with the boot menu and tell it to boot to SD recovery, it looks for uRecImg and uRecRam to load the verygreen recovery. If that is loaded, the verygreen script does all its checking again, it verifies that emmc is a nook, then tries to verify if the SD is partitioned. If it is, it looks for a new zip to install. If, in checking to see if it is partitioned, it cannot find partition 1, it gives that message that has been bugging you.
So I see two things that are happening to you.
First, it is booting to the verygreen recovery first instead of CM. That could be due to a recovery bootloop happening. Look at my tips thread linked in my signature to see an explanation as to what that is and how to possibly get out of it.
Second, after it boots to the verygreen recovery, it does its checking and cannot find partition 1 of the SD and gives you that message.
What I cannot understand is, if you have no partition 1 on your SD, how is it booting to the verygreen recovery?
What you have not told us is what you have on emmc. Stock? Does it boot properly without the SD installed? Or does it go to stock recovery?
After this happens to you again, take the card out and put it in the PC. Tell us what you see. What files are there? Maybe look at it with Mini-Tool Partition Manager and see what partitions it reports.

Ditto on that - especially as it boots happily to that error message time after time after the green cyanomod screen appears and I can also do the menu trick to get it to go into recovery.
Just as a clarifier: A number of times it tried to do the install (text flowing by) and at the end claims it can't find the boot partition - odd (unless I have less of an idea of what I am doing than I think) as isn't all that running from that partition? A fairly even number of times it doesn't even run the install and just errors out right up front.
Once in a great while it all works, and I'm good for a few days - but eventually upon rebooting to get it back to normal (either by menu choice or by pulling the sd card) - all I get is that lack of partition again.

Yes with the SD card out it boots to stock, although a few time what looked like the CWMod menu came up after I shut down and started up without the SD card installed. Maybe only 2 or 3 times out of WAY to many boots to stock so the kids could read their books while I went to work.
I have even tried resetting the nook to factory on the off chance I did something dumb while mucking about to cause that.

Will do so later tonight and will read the notes in your signature as well.
I saw something go by about the boot partition having to start at the 63 block or something - I can't believe ALL my SDcard adapters / writers are bad, but could the nook reader be screwy? Anyway to do a real test? I've been using the Easeus Partition Manager, but will try the Mini-Tool Partition Manager.
Thanks for the step by step explanation of exactly what happens in the process so I can again get a handle on what it's all doing. That all makes sense to what it looks like it tries to do. Deeply appreciate the time!.
You know, I am beginning to suspect something is wrong with your card reader built into the nook. Some sort of intermittent thing like a pin not making a good connection to the card. Put an ordinary SD in it and see if your stock can consistently read it.
Is your unit still under warranty? You might want to explore seeing if you can get it replaced.
Your downloaded verygreen image might be corrupted. Have you tried re-downloading it?

I had thought of that too - at stock it seems to have no problems reading consistently; I've done surface tests using partition manager - but haven't located any real other options of hard testing like once done for hard drives.
Plus the fact that sometimes, it will work for days before it craps out.

A number of times - I went through and wiped all my downloads for the latest try.
Okay So As I mentioned I went back and wiped everything I had downloaded and restarted (again).
Current status is it's working BUT:
suspiciously too easy this time, worked first shot
- (having said that, I've had looking stupid and asking suddenly means it all starts working - so if it's that I'm good with this)
I've only rebooted into CM7, not back to stock at any time
Have not removed the SD card
I've not had time to load up the apps I like, just the kids games
- (sometimes I think it's the more wanted, the less reliable)
Obviously because I haven't removed the SD card, i haven't been able to retry things enough to recreate the other problems of boots right, yet can't find the partition when it really counts.
Changes (listing stupid things too, just because):
-Went back to my sandisk class 4 16gb HC card
-changed USB adapter back to sandisk one, using a sandisk micro to SD adapter that specifically says sdhc (although I think that is really just marketing
-Formatted the SD in the Nook x2, and did not use SDformatter
-Looked at the partition on the card with MiniTool not Easeus partition manager
-There is a step in verygreen's where you pop the card out and reconnect to the PC BEFORE adding the cm zip, made sure to do that - but could swear I had done it before.
Full painful boring steps that SO far has gotten it past the first stage of creation (again the full test is when I boot into stock a few times, or remove the SDcard for anything, or load my really wanted apps on the android side):
--Also note my lack of class 4 Sandisk cards, I only had one after all. BUT I have had this all work to this point with the 16gb only to have it go south.--
Painful details is so I can catch what is really worthwhile different as even WHEN I get it to work, I'm going back to try all the other cards because it worked so oddly and failed so oddly and differently - but that's just me.

I'm going to go the weekend before rebooting to stock as I can do some adding, and rebooting to android.
Maybe backup the droid side this time around.
THEN the death tests on Monday
-thanks for listening_
p.s. - Yes, I still suspect the card reader somewhat as REMOVING may be where it breaks down.
However, once or twice when I had the Unexpected lack of boot partition error - I was able to bring it back by doing a CM7 update via recovery, despite it refusing to find the boot partiton immediately previously - of course that means the SDcard was removed and reinserted. Most time reinsertion = no help.
You do not need to remove the SD to test booting to emmc. Just press and hold the n button during the boot until the boot menu comes up. Then select emmc/normal and boot. It will boot to stock. The only problem with doing that is now your SD boot partition is 'sdcard'. But should work for testing stock.

Yes, I know - but it's two separate tests to see which one caused the problem.
Turns out that neither was needed - it was easier to create; my son simply turned it off (not a reboot cycle as I had been doing which worked).
When it was turned on, it no longer boots - it goes straight to BSOD (actually deep purple).
Booting into recovery gets me:
Penguin Logo
rcS!
Populating /dev using udev: done
Initializing random number generator.... done.
modprobe: chdir(2.6.32.9): No such file or directory
Starting Network...
Detected Standard B&N nook layout, emmc first
Error! Unexpected lack of boot partition on the SDCARD!
Please Report!
Poweroff when ready
Since I'm till held to the noob reposting limit of once every 5 minutes and the captha I can barely read - I'll post MiniTool result in about 5 minutes. I'll link a screen capture if i can here.
I tried to boot per menu to the EMMC stock; Clockworkmod Recovery v3.2.0.1 came up. I know I did emmc and what ever the second default is (which should be normal) - I'm pretty sure it was normal.
I offed it and did the same and confirmed it was the default; THIS time it came up Nook stock.
Is there some way I installed something to the stock NOOK and didn't remove it when I restored to factory? The other day I did the restore from that same clockworkmod screen NOT from the stock Nook environment.
I'm wondering if I somehow created my own monster way back when I first started this and was playing in the android environment.
I just edited what I wrote a few seconds ago. The reason it went to emmc recovery is because the recovery flag was not reset when that SD Recovery told you that error. Did you read my tips about recovery bootloops? When you exited 3.2.0.1, it cleared the flag and booted normally.
I still suspect hardware issues.
Just for Ha, Ha's I hooked the Nook via USB to the PC.
G Drive "Removable Disk G" (wants a disk to be inserted)
E Drive "MyNookColor" ( Lots of what I assume to be standard Nook folders.
See my edit above.

Perfect - so no picture.
This is SO aggravating - I almost would accept just knowing why rebooting wrecks something if I knew WHAT).

Sorry, apparently not closely enough - got lots of time again.
....didn't expect that anyone would be watching, was busy posting pictures so I could go away and read and think...
Probably is hardware - wish I had some way to vigorously test that, I get that basic use in Nook Stock doesn't really prove everything is good.
Plus I bought refurbished and I have to go dig up the warranty, it was months ago, so not too hopeful and boxes long gone. Don't know how nice B&N is, free replacement charger and cord is one thing - whole another refurb unit is different if I can't show stock SD card reading is an issue, not sure how much they check, but I don't think they care about CM7 off a SDcard not working!
Everything looks perfect on that card. All the right files, partition sizes, etc. You have stock on emmc, CWM 3.2.0.1 on emmc recovery.
I still suspect hardware issues. Powering off makes card semi-unreadable. Can still boot to it but when checking for partition information on SD fails.
If you registered your nook, the serial number is all you need. Refurbished usually have a one year warranty. Mine did. Just tell them card reading is intermittent. Which it is. They are pretty generous. You still have stock on there.
Edit: Try just an ordinary SD and power off, reboot, and repeat many times and in between check card reading ability.

Yup, it's really the only thing that hasn't been able to be changed through all of this.
I've mostly gotten these results - I've managed to make it worse as I redid things and apparently got sloppy. But when going back to methodically following instructions I have what I had months ago. I had hoped buying other cards would make it at least act differently.
Thanks for all of the reviews and double checking, at least I now it's not something obvious (but wasn't obvious to me) that I missed along the way!
I'll have to call B&N and see how strict they are and if they take the "It just has trouble reading any SD card consecutively".
Now where was that review of the Nexxus 7.... and I wonder how all the tablet prices are going to drop especially for the Galaxy Tab. Buying is not as fun but I am completely beat with modding failures.
We are too fast with each other. Lol. See my edit above.
Hi All!
I am a great fan of this forum, Android and my GT540.
I first rooted my phone when is had 2.1, then shifted to the LeWa custom roms and then after the recent update to Miroslav_mm's Project IceScreamSwift I "bit" the bullet and installed this ROM.
Miroslav is an absolute genius, this ICS 4.0.4 ROM is so smooth. I used a 256 MB swap file on my class 4 micro sd and overclocked to 825 Mhz and this thing flys  I can't believe this GT540 can keep up with the industry's best. The only down side is the 3" screen Thanks Miro!!! Great work.
Anyway, back to my topic. Sadly my SD card reader is not working. I have read on the net that this is a common problem. I wonder whether the swap file had anything to do with it or was it the latest ROM I installed? I'm just wonder whether anybody else had the same problem and is the situation recoverable?
I am going to try and test the card on by PC using and adapter to see if the card is actually gone but I firmly believe it is the reader on the phone since it is not registering or giving any errors. When I tried to mount using the recovery menu it stated no such file or directory.
I read one guy stating that his reader started to work again after some time pasted for no apparent reason. I hope mine does the same
I look forward to your comments. Thanks!

I had kind of a same issue, i was using Miros 4.0 ICS ROM, but went back to SDSL 2.1, i had partitioned my sd card before to have native swap of 256 mb, when i tried to flash SDSL 2.1 by Recovery, it would flash it and all, but it wouldnt install it correctly, every time i tried to reboot the ROM, i got stock on Silver SDSL logo, then i would go back to recovery to try and flash it again, and recovery wouldnt read my sd, i would say E:/ is bad, so i thought i might have been my sd card reader, after flashing by fastboot, there was no problem with my sd card, i was able to use it normally, then i tried to flash it again by recovery but same problem, recovery wouldnt read my sd card, i tried using another SD card and it worked on recovery, so i think something happen to my other SD card when i went back from Miros ICS to SDSL 2.1, the card works correctly but i cant flash any rom using recovery with that SD card.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for sharing your experience!
I will give it a try and let the community know if its :good: for me too.
Bad news people. The above didn't work for me. I tried several different ROMs (including flashing the standard ROM) but no luck.
The SD card reader seems to be "dead". The funny thing was that when the SD card disappeared after a few days use of Miros latest ICS ROM (June.2012) it was still working very smoothly despite the lack of the 256MB swap file and SD card. Ofcourse many of the installed apps disppeared too. Now that my sd card doesn't work I can't go back to the ICS ROM since it is only available in "recovery" form. Does anyone know if a "fastboot" form exists?
Now that I have lost the SD card feature I will not be able to use the phone anywhere near its full potential. Very sad indeed. Time for a new phone
Unless anybody else has a solution for the above......the moral of the story is be very careful with ROMs and SD card usage as pointed out by our esteemed developers.
Just for reference only, my last setup when the SD reader was working was (2 GB SD) partitioned as follows:
partition 1: data 1.5 GB
partition 2: ext4 0.25GB for Link2SD
partition 3: swap 0.25GB
Hm you already tried to clean the SD ston on your phone ? maybe it just bacame dirty with the time.
Thanks for the comment andreas! but could you please explain the meaning of "SD ston"?
If you mean the pins in the reader, they appear to be clean.

oops slot of course yeah okay
Just and update for those interested.
I finally got my hands on an external card reader and discovered my 2 gb card is actually dead. I remember taking a about 30 photos that day when it had the newly installed Miro's ICS and noticed it locked several times. I don't know if that had anything to do with it. Anyway, my PC did not recognize the card had been inserted so I couldn't reformat/revive it.
I tried to insert a new 4 gb card into my phone today again (previous attempts failed) but before doing so I carefully bent the connectors in the card reader slightly outward, inserted the card, jammed a piece of paper under the clip (so it would press down and make good contact) and believe it or not it read the card I have since installed "AOKP 4.0.4 ASIS b40" and loven' it.
