It is official My Touch 3g Pre sales start July 8th on T-Mobile.

Hmm...I thought it was supposed to have 5Mpix camera, not 3.2...

No...
But looks like the same as Vodafone version...
And for example here http://www.mobileburn.com/review.jsp?Id=7309 it is stated to be delivered with a 4GB sd card, and 512 MB internal memory.
Interestingly it is stated (in this article at least) to also support Microsoft Exchange, though it is a "With Google tm" branded phone.
Looks like mytouch only has 192megs of RAM. Pretty lame...

Does the mytouch have a lot of lag?
on the display at a store I went to it had no noticeable lag

Do you know if the RAM is indeed 192 as quoted in the user manual, or is it actually 288MB?

192 is the amount of free RAM.
can't wait to find out more about this device
damn you're lucky to get it early
I received my mytouch 3g today, i like the screen looks awesome, one thing i did notice that i didnt like was somewhat of a lag when i text. I am a pretty fast texter so i had to slow down my texting.

Could you enlighten us on how much RAM it has? Please open up any Terminal application and run the following command:
cat /proc/meminfo |grep -i memtotal
and post us the readout.
Thanks!

How would you have a Mytouch 3g already as they haven't even been release to Customers or Tmo employees yet.
The T-mo store nearby has a black one to show off to prospective buyers... I noticed that it seemed very smooth and responsive. Also, the backplate is rubberized plastic, not the glossy finish that is prone to scratches. One thing that I disliked (though I think an app or future rom will fix) is that the homescreen doesn't rotate like the G1 does when you open the keyboard. Only apps that are capable of rotation will do so.

True, that would be nice. But it also sounds like a relatively simple and probable update to come in i.e. the Donut release in a few months.

It operates the same as the G1, G1 doesn't auto-rotate on the home screen. It only changes orientation as you said when sliding the keyboard. If it hasn't been included in the G1 at this time I don't see that there well be it will be implemented into the MyTouch. When phone is rooted will bet someone will put a launcher to do it.
Does it really support Exchange Server?????
Does it really have support for Exchange Server? Although the HTC device does, I am wondering if T-Mobile left this on the device. I get the feeling they removed it!
Exchange support!

I have the myTouch 3G, not discussing how I have it or when I got it, only that I get to test it and keep it. 4GB SD class 2 comes with it, and out of the 512mb of memory, roughly 290mb is available for app space.
Very fast and a slightly improved screen over the G1, I like it but I still rely on my G1 for the heavy texting and because I have it rooted and with Cyanogen's rom on it.

I am looking to upgrade my phone but i am divided between ATT TP 2 and Pure. i have seen alot of reviews of TP2 but i havent seen any reviews of pure can someone guide me to the right place where i can read some reviews on Pure
I am looking for the feedback on the battery life as well since i dont really need a phone that i will be worrying about charging every few hours
Here are the first two videos I've come across
http://pocketnow.com/tech-news/windows-mobile-65-att-htc-pure-unboxing-video
http://pocketnow.com/tech-news/htc-pure-windows-phone-hardware-tour-for-att
No 3.5mm jack, 3.2 screen the TP2 and Imagio have 3.6" screens, no rounded corners form factor, and no MediaFlow turner with kickstand antenna like the Imagio The phone comes with no headphones and a very big dongle adapter for headphones. This is a deal breaker for me. The Verizon Imagio keeps looking better and better... functionally and aesthetically.
I'm really liking the LEO, but at this point I'll probably get a PURE depending on the cost of the data plan, so let's get some reviews in here!
I will have mine on Wednesday and will post first impressions.
I upgraded from unlocked Touch Diamond for the microSD card slot, bigger memory, bigger screen. And alas - maybe I wont have to do the silly dance to keep screen turned on at the start of a call.
I may need some help getting rid of ATT bloatware.
DC, Orlando
I am only concerend about the on screen keyboard I hope I will be able to type on it like a iPhone
http://www.mobilitydigest.com/att-pure-review/
i just got my ATT pure will post some impressions
So the pure is the same with topaz eh? Pure is the USA version or what?

The Pure is the USA At&t version of the Topaz. Body is a little different but internally identical.
Thanks guys for posting all the reviews... I went down and picked up one of these for my daughter today. This is a really nice phone, HTC has done a great job with this one. I also really like the body that ATT is using, I think it looks much better in person than it does in pictures. The other thing that impresses me is the speed, Manilla 3d runs smooth and fast.
I may have to go get one for myself..
We've just posted our review of the Pure here: http://www.mobiletechreview.com/phones/HTC-Pure.htm . I've got to spend a few more days to a week with it before I write the final conclusion and talk about battery life. Nice device for the price though.
I just picked one up last night.
I was forced into getting the $30 Data plan after having the unlimited $19 plan for about 4 years. I'm coming from a FUZE to this
the build quality is very nice
the phone is slippery wish it had some contour or rubber on the back
screen is much nicer then FUZE but I'm still wanting bigger.
no 3.5mm jack no big deal
very light and thin
sounds louder with its side speakerphone (NJ laws while driving)
I miss the D-pad for one handed scrolling
Camera seems to take nice pics but
Bummer No Flash - I use to use the Flashlight app with the fuze
Haven't tried tethering to my Laptop yet which I use about once a week.I'm sure it works its in there
never really used the keyboard much on the FUZE so not much of an issue
I was going to hold out for the TP2 but at $150 more just not a good time with $ being scarce. I really just want a bigger screen maybe next year or another device.
trying to HARDSPL it but having problems and errors so I know it will be much better with a Energy rom on it when i get it
[*]one there.
Fuze for sale
A quick question. Do you all have the HTC app for using your phones as WiFI hotspots? It's called 'WiFi Router". Or did AT&T pull that off of the device? The coocked 6.5 ROMs have it in them and it's cool. I was playing halo while using my phone as the router on Edge. But since you ATT folk have US 3G on your Pure's then it'll be even better.
Take that Sprint MiFi.We get free MiFi with every WM phone Purchase.
One more Q. Can someone post up the Software information on the pohone?
OS Version:
Manila Version:
ROM Version:
ROM date:
Radio Version:
I read online that this phone has TouchFlo 3D 2.1 not 2.6, would it be possible to update?
You should easily be able to use the TF3D 2.5 from the HTC Leo
via a cab install or a new rom?

You have to update the new Rom just check out the rom development and you will get all the details there
I just updated to the Energy ROM Leo and love it
so much better in all ways then the stock rom that comes with the phone
and yes this has the WIFI router app and many other great apps.

the only thing i am not happy about the ATT Pure is the on screen keyboard that is not meant to be with a finger
WOW!!

and notice it says HTC SSD test!! So 1GHz+SSD= Super fast
and dont forget Android!!
Something doesn't look right to me with the android screen. I have an HTC G1 and I've also tried Android 2.1. Wonder what the 'clock' app is for.
To be honest I'm looking forward to HD2 w/ WM, when it's finally released in the US. Android has a nice interface and concepts, such as the homescreens/widgets/app market/google intergration/etc, but I miss apps from WM6. I hope they still work as I remember from my iPaq.
I actually needed to have 3 options in the poll to answer with my exact feelings
I like my HD2 and im keeping it
I want Android on my HD2
This thing is Fcking ugly and would not give it room in my pocket
There thats better
Im also not sure how much benefit an SSD would be on a phone other than the larger capacity drive for storage .. Im sure we dont tax the flash we have in there for read/writes as it is ..
imo this one is ugly.... not sure if its real or fake.
By the time this is available, WM7 might already be out for the HD2.
The only real difference is Android (if you don't use Wimax). If WM7 is better than Android, then what reason will be there to buy the Supersonic?
And btw.: The buttons at the bottom are super ugly
I don't understand people saying it's fugly. Apart from having no hardware buttons, which I think looks better, it's exactly the same as a HD2 (to look at).
Incidentally, it's definitely not fake. It's been posted elsewhere, with different pics and official links.

I would never let this replace my HD2 though, I very much prefer having winmo to android. (For now at least)

Where did you see the SSD part? I think you misread something... Actually, take it like this. You won't see anything different from SSD-like technology in mobile phone (every mobile phone)!
It's not possible for storage devices to be connected on an IDE interface. At least not in mobile phones. Otherwise, you'd automatically get a >200g weight.
So if it's a mobile phone, than it has a flash memory. Which is basically what SSD is all about. So from that point of view, it's nothing faster then the HD2...
I looked at android on the Nexus, but I went with WM on the HD2. I'm happy and not changing anytime soon!
I'd like to see some videos of it in action though.
what are difference between flash mamory and ssd?
I've had WinMo for eons and dog tired of it and wouldn't mind Android on a beasty chassis as the HD2. Also us Sprint users are usually shafted when it comes to cool phones (yeah blame it on CDMA) so if this eventually pans out then i'm in, although i was already salivating with envy that T-Mo U.S was getting the WinMo HD2.
Can't wait for it.
THIS is what I've been waiting for.
If Apple does not increase its screen size and resolution before HTC Supersonic is released, then I'll seriously consider switching to this
However, my hesitation would be there if the camera is as bad as Leo's (I'm refering to the pink patch hardware problem), or if the capacitive touch screen accuracy problem is not fixed by then.
Would keep a close eyes on user experience posted to this forum for a while before deciding. If it is as bad as Leo, then forget it.
F###ING AMAZING. Despite the problems i'm not leaving this phone, I love it.

my only gripe is no voice & data at the sametime, other than that i am enjoying the EVO (atleast within my 30 day window haha). i am recently enjoying the linking of contacts to social networks and other items as well linking Qik to facebook to provide links to videos i posted without having to do it manually.
very cool phone, walk around in the airport listening to music, get the ok from pilot for electronics, switch to a movie, read the usatoday, send my wife a msg on gtalk, flip back to movie, etc etc etc
I love my EVO too which is why I am so sad that HTC put a cap on the graphics and I may have to return it...

+1 for this topic! I love mine as well. Amazing phone despite the negative reports (which I only experience a few of personally).
Good thread. I love my EVO too. The problems worry me but I still prefer it to the iPhone 3GS I just left, and to the iPhone 4 that is coming out. So far I haven't noticed touch screen issues or screen seperation. But this phone is still awesome. I would replace it though if there was a 4.3"-5" nexus one though
I am coming from a mogul, so things are night and day.
I am very happy with the evo...
yes I have seen wifi slowdown: max 5000kbps down, 1000 up with a only the dot as an indication; Performance degrades significantly if hand is placed over the kickstand area. Battery life is as expected for heavy use (12hrs, blue tooth & 3g data all day, 20% screen brightness). I see the screen lifting ever so slightly and can barely see light creeping though at night, but I got a seidio case which seems to keep everything snug, if it gets worse I'll do the black silicone trick. Barring the fact that I haven't found a file encryption package, or a way to easily back everything up (as i could with sprite backup on wm)......that is ...yet.
I love this thing and use it all day. The speech to text is awesome (I laught to think that I was worried about a keyboard!)
the wifee got one too. she is happy as she has never had a smartphone or anything that could do email/internet. I showed her the problem with the display(slight lifting & setting on a table-top slider), and she gave me a dumb look and said "so, whats the problem? " .... I left it at that.
you will never have a perfect production run, there will always be software bugs, lets home that HTC will improve their processes, make current customers happy (returns & repair and or replacements), and will get together with sprint for an action plan including the release with fixes to the current problems with a easy to root, android 2.2 update.

It's the way people have been conditioned lately...for instance...when was the last time you heard of a happy marriage? but I bet you heard of a **** ton of divorces and unhappy marriages...no one goes out singing high praises anymore, it's always complaints and *****ing.
On a brighter note, yes, the phone has it's problems...it wouldn't be a consumer grade electronic device if it didn't. I personally LOVE it.
No issues here. Coming from an AT&T Tilt, so consider my world rocked at the moment.

Don't see how it could simply be a housing, because the camera lens on the Magic is in the center, and in the iPhone its on the left corner, i seriously think it's legit. I mean, Android itself was ported to the iPhone, so why not iOS to android?

I'm honestly not sure what to think, really. Since all iPhones have 3.5" screens, a Magic case would need to fit proportionally, so someone would need to make a bigger magic-esque housing, and that one looked pretty damn real (notice the backlit keys).
I could just be a video playing, but the screen seemed to be quite responsive.
It's definitely not a theme either...
Kudos for getting the iOS4 working with anything but proprietary apple hardware, but isn't this like replacing your high-tech, highly-customizeable batmobile with something much worse?
It's interesting that the wallpaper slides along with the icons like it does on Android, I didn't think that was possible on iPhone OS. I can only assume it's just an application mimicking iPhone OS (notice how the home button is bound to the back button).

It doesn't. I have an iPod touch with iOS4. Of course, mine has the nexus lines live wallpaper. XD
This is really cool, and I doubt its fake. It has to be very possible to port it, just who would really want to? You get nothing more than a few bragging rights because I doubt many people want iOS4 over Android 1.6 2.1 or 2.2. The ONLY thing iOS4 has which is probably more hardware related is crisp graphics. Games look AMAZING on iPhones and iPods but pretty bad on Android devices.

Right. Showing videos without a real product is the way to do it. Great.
BGR has a new post that has photos of what they believe to be the AT&T version of Galaxy S II with a slide out keyboard. It also includes a couple of benchmarks; Linkpack and Quadrant. I can't believe that AT&T would do this... looks like I'm not getting the AT&T version...

oh my GOD thats ugly!! good thing i live in the UK, no carriers changing my device
Looks really ugly, it will just add to phone's thickness.. and even the camera looks weird in those photos!
Electricpig notes that the Linpack benchmark is about 18.6% higher than an unlocked Galaxy S II (58.544 MFLOPS vs 47.606 MFLOPS)... leading them to suspect that they bumped the CPU from 1.2 to 1.4. However, Quadrant doesn't seem to show much improvement (3056) but then again, Quadrant isn't the most consistent benchmark.

Corporate users love keyboards. They are also a prime target for LTE. Going this route kind of makes sense if this is their first LTE phone launched. I'm glad I got the unbasterdized version. Remember, the Z/R got FCC approval on AT&T's bands too. Maybe they'll carry that one also as their more consumer oriented version.
i'm not convinced this is att's official (or only) sgs2. the layout is completely different: camera placement, bottom physical button for instance.

Does this...
Or this...
Look like this...
SGH-i897 is the model number for AT&T's SGS1 so the model number for whatever phone's in the first post uses the same naming convention. Last round, Sprint got the keyboard. This time it looks like it'll go to AT&T.
damn, you're right. our only hope is this is not AT&T's version.
My biggest concern is that AT&T will screw with it so much that we'll need special developers for it. I think I would lose my mind if I went to flash a super duper kernel and it blew up in my hands.
Thank goodness I got the unmolested version of this device. Leave it to US carriers to take something amazing then ruin it.
The horror.. The horror...

Even if they left the majority of the phone as-is, you'll never be able to flash international ROMs due to the different radio(s). I'm sure devs working on it will be able to re-use a lot of what's already been developed but the phone will be too different to share s/w with other versions.
I just got really dissapointed really quickly. Im fine with having four buttons but the slide out keyboard is almost the point of being useless

that is entirely untrue...
The captivate for ATT can use international sgs 1 roms with a kernal that rotates the screen correctly the only difference is that the FM radio didn't work on the captivate as there was no FM radio.
ATT world phones use the same international frequencies as international phones. i currently have an internationall sgs2 and am using it with att with 4g.
keyboard not for me.... Good that I got the international sgs2
Also the Samsung galaxy R kinda looks nice and solid, even though lower specs and slightly thicker.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. Its like they didn't want to release a phone thinner than the iPhone and maybe this even dissolves them of being liable and possibly being sued for selling it as-is. I'm not trying to be a fandroid or anything but I can't help think the ongoing legal battles between samsung and Apple somehow effected the outcome ... disenchanted ... but still optimistic ... would be nice to get new dimensions and weight of this bastardizes phone.

Big plus is that it's alegedly equipped to access Att LTE.
This data connection really has me teetering on selling it.
