Pls correct me if I am wrong but I think CE-Star is a program for Chinese users who bought the unit with English Language.
I purchased my 3G in Thailand and I received an install CD and Applications and one of them is CE-Star, which I didn't install coz I don't speak or read/write chinese.

You need to go to start/settings/system/regional settings and change to eg:English(United States) and do a soft reset after changing it.

thanks leong52

MS Transcriber can't be installed on S200 SVE?

Hello everyone!
I'm new to this forum and Qtek/HTC/I-mate but judging by what I've browsed through so far this place kicks ass.
Anyhoo... I just bought a S200 with WM5 in Swedish (the only language available here) and the damn thing lacks the transcriber. I googled a bit and found out the transcriber could be installed separately. Well.. no. Not on my S200. It just says that "transcriber is not a valid pocket-pc application".
Has anyone with a non-english s200/prophet/JAMin actually managed to install the transcriber? I was really looking forward to using that particular function, it was actually one of the main reasons I bought a non-qwerty-phone.
An option for me would be to flash the whole thing to english (I'm an Aussie so I'd actually prefer it) but is it possible to use swedish characters if the OS is english?
Hello, where can I get the Transcriber to install on my S200?? I'm on a portuguese version and I also don't have the transcriber installed
Hello...
go to http://www.smartmobile.se/ and choose S200, then u can download the file from there.. it´s working... cheers!

Chinese/English

Hi all,
I wonder if anyone can help me with this question?
If I were to buy a Chinese Jade (Chinese windows etc.) I would obviously be able to receive txt messages in Chinese, but if I flash the ROM to English, would I still be able to receive Chinese txts? If not, if I then installed Chinese language support for the windows mobile as in "Monster Chinese" etc. would it then be possible to receive these txts?
If that would work then I assume the following would be the same (Is this correct?)...If I bought one from England which would obviously already be in English and installed the Chinese language support would it then be possible to receive and send Chinese txt messages?
I guess my confusion is between the "PPC part" and the "phone part", I had an IPAQ before and I know I can install Chinese language support, but I am just not sure if that would allow the "phone part" to use it
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am in England for another week or so and not sure if I should buy one before I go back to Taiwan.

Since it is one system, yes, just install the chinese support software. I prefer the fast, convenient and FREE ZTA4 Text input. http://www.a4user.com/A4_down_sip.asp
Works very well on Jade. But you still need the chinese font file for actually displaying the hanzi. Use sunglobe: http://www.trendsmobile.com/downloads/sunglobe.cab.zip
Greetings from Berlin and Beijing
Thanks
Thanks S200 for the quick answer.
Great help
I will check those links now
why the first answer is a no ?
i found some tutorials on a Chinese site, it says you need to install font to display chinese characters, and an input method to type chinese, even if you are using an english rom, and isn't this correct?
http://www.ricky119.com/2008/08/25/windows-mobile英文rom中文支持-10m雅黑
http://www.ricky119.com/category/technique/cellphone
and you can also use ce-star to get chinese support, but current version is reported to be unstable and could lead to crash constantly.
yeah thats what I meant, just install the font I mentioned in my post, then of course the answer is yes. but without modifying the english ROM, it is unable to DISPLAY (but of course receive) chinese chars..
I had installed the "CE Star" for handwrite and display the Chinese Charater. I found it still cannot display on the TouchFLO. Can any expert help? Many thanks!
my jade comes with ce-star 2.8 r3. i think this is the latest version works perfectly with jade and wm6 phone.
buy an English Jade and installed PlumSIP and Monster Chinese, works better than CE Star

They should be as long as you got the HTC_CIME i think is the name of the chinese one.
Anyway, the real question is: Are the Chinese applications suitable for english version ROM

What is HTC_CIME? Is it a specific ROM version? And, could you tell me how can I find out what version of ROM is on my phone?
Thanks.

HTC_CIME is HTC chinese input method editor (or something like that ) it exist as HTC_CIME.apk
So try to search but HTC_CIME.apk around the forum, not sure all roms will work with this if not i bet there is an default android CIME. But read several places that this is working on some of the no-sense roms released here on xda.
Since i'm not Chinese or even know the language i never had any use for it so don't know much about it either. Don't flame me if i'm wrong, just trying to help giving you some words there might help you in your search for a solution

Thank you anyway. But you still not tell that how do I know what is the version of ROM currently running on my phone? For example, you know yours is "CursorSense32A-1.2.6.1".
Narkewoody: the easiest way to use Chinese applications or see Chinese characters is for you to install an add-on program, such as CE-Star or Monster Chinese. The downside of doing it is that certain system-related prompts will be shown in Chinese, as opposed to English. Let me know if this doesn't make sense. You may also want to go to the CE-Star and Monster Chinese websites and take a look. Good luck.

Hi, HTC HD MINI users....

i just bought this phone from ebay...
problem is....... the phone is in italian language, and not english...
i am panicking for what i should do, because i called HTC and they said they have no solution to change it to english
any advice would be appreciated from you guys, thanks
i'm also ok with chinese language FOR NOW, if english isnt available....
because i see a chinese rom file for download in this forum, but i am also not sure how to install it after i downloaded the .exe file
Mine is also gonna be in Italian (ordered today) and want to change it into English or Spanish. I downloaded both official ROMs, but apparently we also need something called Hard SPL before flashing it, otherwise it won't work
can someone kindly direct us to, or teach us how to install these language roms?
currently is not possible until hspl available

Try BSB tweaks
Hi,
I don't actually own a hd mini, but I do have a friend who does own one and the problem she had was very similar to those mentioned on this thread.
So I suggested that she installs 'BsB tweaks' and she told me that although it doesn't change all of the interface into english(or french, spanish, dutch, german, italian, czech, portuguese) it does change the Manila language...
Steps:
1. Download BsB tweaks 1.6 (or newer if any)
2. Install BsB tweaks
3. Go to 'menu'
4. Click on 'manila language'
5. Select your desired language
Hope this helps
thanks for the info, but i checked out some info on bsb tweaks online and it is for hd2 right? or does it work with the hd mini as well?

Yes it works perfectly on Hd mini and most of the tweaks i've tried work too
thanks all for the help..
ive installed the bsb tweaks, and some menus are english now, but some are still in italian....
is this the best solution already?
yes its the best solution for now until the HSPL is out !
Little explanation since the thread starter seems to be new at flashing custom roms:
First of all, concerning your language problem. You should be able to at least change the HTC Manila into the language of your choice by customizing a registry setting. This is at least possible in other Manila Roms for other HTC Devices.
Second of all, Hard SPL is necessary to be able to flash a Custom Rom onto your HD Mini. This "unlocks" the phone. Might be a while until someone makes an SPL for this device. Warning, if your phone ever fails to work and you have to send it in then your warranty is NOT VALID anymore if you change the SPL.
Now, you can change your ROM the english ROM
the hack tools leaked.
I've just installed BsB Tweaks in my new HTC and i was able to changed most of functions from Swedish to English. I'm waiting for update which may support all the functions in my HTC. Thanks for the information
Here is your Saviour!
You will need to look at this page
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=694409
Download the program. Follow the steps as he says..
Make a new folder and extract the file to that.
Then go to double u double u double u dot shipped-roms dot com /shipped/Photon/
and choose the ROM that you want (You can choose the latest Europe or Asia eg RUU_Photon_HTC_Europe_1.36.401.1_Radio_Signed_32.2803.05.06_0.63.05.36_Ship.exe or
RUU_Photon_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.07.707.1_Radio_Signed_20100305_Ship.exe
or GCC if you are in Middle East.
Then download this file and use win rar(right click on setup file and find to extract the RUU_signed.nbh file from this Europe or Asia ROM file to put in the folder u have made.
Run this and You will have English with the Latest ROM version!
It works 100 percent dont get scared by the trouble shooting comments!
Just read thru the pages and then follow wht I have told you!Plz comment how it went.
Open your ROM with OSKitchen and save it without changing anything. Than use SSPL. It worked with me.

Ce-Star does not work after MR2 update

Hi Guys,
I am having a problem with my x2 after the MR2 update.
after installing ce-star r3c then restart, my x2 just boots up to the sony ericsson logo.
i had to reset it with seus, i have done this over 5 times now =C
has anyone solve this issue?
Thanks
I have got this problem too >.<
is there have any translating program can we use for CHINESE ~_~
The only way is to change to TW Firmware, i did it but now the whole phone is in Chinese, it actually installed a Chinese WinMo to it, not quite a Chinese customization. Waiting for a HK firmware that usually has the option to switch between Chinese and English
Try it at your own risk
Try it at your own risk:
Add [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI] "FontLinkMethods" = dword:00000001
by using regedit or any registry editor.
i am using TW generic already but the problem still exist.
the only reason i want to use ce star because of the cantonese pinyin.
what does the regedit do?
would it brick my phone if something goes wrong?
Don't use CE-star
Oh sorry, I miss the point.
Don't use CE-Star as it's turned out need to hard reset machine. I did it twice.
But for others, e.g., Monster Chinese, you need to add the new string through Registry Editor, otherwise, some Chinese fonts can't be read.
TW firmware has pingyin, i am using it
CE-STAR Japanese localization
I just follow same installation as default, I succeeded installation no hung. However it cannot display any Japanese characters.
SIP, locale change is OK.
