Hello everyone!
I'm new to this forum and Qtek/HTC/I-mate but judging by what I've browsed through so far this place kicks ass.
Anyhoo... I just bought a S200 with WM5 in Swedish (the only language available here) and the damn thing lacks the transcriber. I googled a bit and found out the transcriber could be installed separately. Well.. no. Not on my S200. It just says that "transcriber is not a valid pocket-pc application".
Has anyone with a non-english s200/prophet/JAMin actually managed to install the transcriber? I was really looking forward to using that particular function, it was actually one of the main reasons I bought a non-qwerty-phone.
An option for me would be to flash the whole thing to english (I'm an Aussie so I'd actually prefer it) but is it possible to use swedish characters if the OS is english?
Hello, where can I get the Transcriber to install on my S200?? I'm on a portuguese version and I also don't have the transcriber installed
Hello...
go to http://www.smartmobile.se/ and choose S200, then u can download the file from there.. it´s working... cheers!

hi guys
first of all thanks a lot for your work, it helped me out a lot and especially letting me get to know my new device much better and easier.
i just have some hard time setting up your xda special rom image. with an english version built in linux flashed with the bootloader way and xdarit.exe, it worked out fine but when i tried to built my own german version, it just shows the splash screen, at the lower right corned it show that the system initialised (with this g32S54 ; R3.17.01 message written in red) but than it just freezes and cannot be started.
i somehow tried it with a german t-mobile image, an old o2 image and the newest o2 image and i got the same problem everytime.
is there a way to get the german version running ? since i'm in need of the special signs or does your mkrom script just runs on an english image ?

To be honest, we never really tested mkROM much on German versions. But there's new developments on the horizon, and you may like what's coming...

What do you mean with that??? A universal multilanguage SE??? Special german ROM???
Please give more details...
Hi All,
English is ok for me. I just would like to get a german qwertz keyboard on it.
If anybody has freeware suggestions let me know.
regards,
Silver
did you mkrom, to extract the xipchain from your rom?
the offsets used in mkrom may need to be changed. currently these are all hardcoded for the qtek rom. have not looked at other roms.
thanks for the hint, i'm just about to try that, just did not recognize this xipchains script. but i'm working on that.
but since my knowledge is not that good it may take a while...
more hints are welcome .
actually this german qwertz keyboard is the most important thing for me too.. but having also a german language just makes navigating much quicker, and since there are a lot of people around here being interested in your special rom, because the original once just suck and are totally unusable. and yours seems to run very stable...
greetz at all

Sorry, no freeware, but there is an application called calligrapher, wich is a handwriting recognition thingy, far better than transscriber. It can use custom dictionaries and has a better keyboard included with it. I use it all the time with a dutch upgrade. You can get the german one if you like and youll have the qwertz keyboard. (Because of a bug, the dutch version also has qwertz).
I have also tried to built a German one...see http://www.xda-developers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1490&highlight=dolo
So I am even not sure if my Linux solution is the right one, or the hardcoded stuff is tricking me.
so any clue on how to get mkrom on German ROM running is apreciated.
Dolo
just checked the 3.19.01 german rom, the MISC block is larger than in the qtek rom. now it is partially overwritten by the XDA_DEVELOPERS1 block.
you would have to change the start of xda_developers1 to 81840000,
and also make it smaller, since not everything will fit anymore.
hey that sounds cool, but how do i do that ?
deleting some files out of the files2 directory ?
and how do i set the start block ? sorry did not have enough time to read through all the readme and how to files...
thanks a lot

Am using the Dopot CT9000 with the English ROM and there is this program called Quickmark which I think is a name card scanning software. The thing is, all the instructions in the program are in boxes and not in English. Is there any way around this?
Does TyTN have this program?
Tell me pls the following:
1. Which language -exactly- have you installed on your device?
2. What filenames have the two files Quickmark.xxxx.dll (whereas xxxx stands for the landcode as defined by Microsoft).
Check this and post it here. Then there will be a solution for you.
The QR Codes are really cool!

Thank you so much for your help.
1. I presume the language is english as everything else in my CT9000 is in English and all. The keyboard has some chinese strokes but that's the only thing chinese about it. My software version are as follows:
ROM: 1.23.707.1
ROM date: 06/28/06
Radio: 1.06.00.10
Protocol: 32.37.7010.01H
Is there any other information you need to know?
2. The 2 files you were talking about are as follows:
Quickmark.0409.dll
Quickmark.0804.dll
Would appreciate any help I can get on this.
Thank you.

QuickMark.0409.dll contains the english text.
QuickMark.0809.dll contains the chinese text.
So, delete QuickMark.0809.dll and either rename or copy QuickMark.0409.dll to QuickMark.0809.dll, so the program will always find the dll with the english text.

Hello,
well Chinese isn’t Chines as is with German and German (or English and English) in the sense of localization as defined by Microsoft !
Just have a look at this most valuable “List of Locale IDs” published by Microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/reference/winxp/xp-lcid.mspx
I had the same problem as you when I first started Quickmark and was even puzzled for a moment when I had restarted it again, having changed the locale ID to German.
All menue items kept showing up as little boxes – which is what one usually sees when there is a problem with the localization.
Resolution was that there is a special modified Locale ID for Austria !
(Here in Austria German is the official language, but there is a Local ID for German (Austria), which is 0c07 and for German (Standard = Germany), which is 0407.)
When I changed the English language file to Quickmark.0c07.dll (instead of the previously tried Quickmark.0407.dll) the English menue showed up again !
As you mentioned that on your keyboard you can see some Chinese keys I’d suppose your device isn’t a US-English version.
Also I’d assume from the flag you are using next to your nick that your native tongue isn’t English either, correct ?
What you should do:
Go to Settings | Language (or Localization or whatever it be called on your device) and check, which language you have set there.
Then look up the Locale ID for this language setting in the table (see link above).
Replace the Locale ID in the filename of the English language dll.
Reboot !!!
Now you should see the English menue instead of the boxes.
I don’t know anyone where this procedure hasn’t resolved this problem !

Yeaaaah !!!
The QR Codes are a really cool application.
Actually in my opinion the coolest "fun" application I can think of.
(I am no gamer, so those games do not really phascinate me.)
However on a MS Smartphone (I have the Qtek 8300) and Nokia phones (tried it out on my 6680, whose camera is quite good) this application even works better:
You just have to point your phone onto a QR Code (can even be done rather fast and unprecise) and the action is triggered automatically - WITHOUT having to press a button, as on the TyTN !!!!!
This is a BIG advantage, because when pressing a button you move the device a tiny little bit.
And as the camera resolution of these phone devices aren't too high, this might be enough for not being able to decode the QR.
Actually I have no idea why Quickmark has decided to add this "Press a Button" requirement on the TyTN.
(Maybe they just ported the code and the automatic trigger mechanism is different on the Hermes platform.)
Anyway Quickmark should optimize this for the TyTN !!!!!
What do you think ? (Question to the audience.)

Hi all,
I wonder if anyone can help me with this question?
If I were to buy a Chinese Jade (Chinese windows etc.) I would obviously be able to receive txt messages in Chinese, but if I flash the ROM to English, would I still be able to receive Chinese txts? If not, if I then installed Chinese language support for the windows mobile as in "Monster Chinese" etc. would it then be possible to receive these txts?
If that would work then I assume the following would be the same (Is this correct?)...If I bought one from England which would obviously already be in English and installed the Chinese language support would it then be possible to receive and send Chinese txt messages?
I guess my confusion is between the "PPC part" and the "phone part", I had an IPAQ before and I know I can install Chinese language support, but I am just not sure if that would allow the "phone part" to use it
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am in England for another week or so and not sure if I should buy one before I go back to Taiwan.

Since it is one system, yes, just install the chinese support software. I prefer the fast, convenient and FREE ZTA4 Text input. http://www.a4user.com/A4_down_sip.asp
Works very well on Jade. But you still need the chinese font file for actually displaying the hanzi. Use sunglobe: http://www.trendsmobile.com/downloads/sunglobe.cab.zip
Greetings from Berlin and Beijing
Thanks
Thanks S200 for the quick answer.
Great help
I will check those links now
why the first answer is a no ?
i found some tutorials on a Chinese site, it says you need to install font to display chinese characters, and an input method to type chinese, even if you are using an english rom, and isn't this correct?
http://www.ricky119.com/2008/08/25/windows-mobile英文rom中文支持-10m雅黑
http://www.ricky119.com/category/technique/cellphone
and you can also use ce-star to get chinese support, but current version is reported to be unstable and could lead to crash constantly.
yeah thats what I meant, just install the font I mentioned in my post, then of course the answer is yes. but without modifying the english ROM, it is unable to DISPLAY (but of course receive) chinese chars..
I had installed the "CE Star" for handwrite and display the Chinese Charater. I found it still cannot display on the TouchFLO. Can any expert help? Many thanks!
my jade comes with ce-star 2.8 r3. i think this is the latest version works perfectly with jade and wm6 phone.
buy an English Jade and installed PlumSIP and Monster Chinese, works better than CE Star

HTC_CIME is HTC chinese input method editor (or something like that ) it exist as HTC_CIME.apk
So try to search but HTC_CIME.apk around the forum, not sure all roms will work with this if not i bet there is an default android CIME. But read several places that this is working on some of the no-sense roms released here on xda.
Since i'm not Chinese or even know the language i never had any use for it so don't know much about it either. Don't flame me if i'm wrong, just trying to help giving you some words there might help you in your search for a solution

Thank you anyway. But you still not tell that how do I know what is the version of ROM currently running on my phone? For example, you know yours is "CursorSense32A-1.2.6.1".
Narkewoody: the easiest way to use Chinese applications or see Chinese characters is for you to install an add-on program, such as CE-Star or Monster Chinese. The downside of doing it is that certain system-related prompts will be shown in Chinese, as opposed to English. Let me know if this doesn't make sense. You may also want to go to the CE-Star and Monster Chinese websites and take a look. Good luck.
I'm looking for a ROM for my Touch HD which includes the following things:
- GERMAN SWYPE! (that's maybe the most important thing)
- WM 6.5 (With the buttons at downside)
I use the "Windows default" Screen (I dunno if it's the right name for it) so I don't need any special type of "HTC Sense" (or similar).
Please help me to find the right ROM!
Thx
i have the right rom for myself
makes me happy to hear, that you have the right rom for yourself... maybe you can help me find the perfect ROM for me...?!
i think the rom you are loking for doesnt exist here on xda
maybe on a german htc site it exist
as there arent many german chefs i havent seen a german start menu at the bottom
i know andy also uploads on a german site and maybe there he has a startmenu at the bottom
or go here and download a german kitchen and try to make youre own

thanks for the link. I'll have a try on this one!
But I think you misunderstood. I don't want to have a german interface - there's no need for this. All I want to have is swype in German!
I also looked for a German version of Swype but all files I found were removed... at the moment I use EnergyROM and i'm really happy with it - the only thing is swype. It has only a german dictionary.
A friend of mine has a HD2 with his GoaTrip Rom he has German Swype...
Is it possible to use a HD2 ROM on a HD???

You can install Swype with a simple CAB
too many rom's with wm 6.5 to list. You can try.
for example, I use a italian rom with sense buid-in (because i think that it's most stable), but i disabled sense and i use with another today screen.
where can I get that CAB???
Swype is installed with my ROM - the Problem is it's only english - I want to have a German version...
German ROM
Hello....
Take a look on my ROM..
http://www.htc-developers.de/viewtopic.php?f=87&t=5662
Install SWYPE as a .cab . You will find it everywhere.
But SWYPE make an error by select names in SMS-PRG.
Better take SlideIT by Dasur.
http://www.dasur.co.il/product/slideit/SlideIT.php
It's faster and smaller. (I thing it's much better)
Available in all languages.
Mark....
Thanks for the link - i'll try it.
I also installed slideIT for now and it's doing good - maybe I'll buy it, when the trail is over...
MOD EDIT - As this is more of a query regarding Swype and no rom development I've moved thread to General forum
