Ever since the cupcake edition of JF roms, my android has been running horrible..
constant lock ups, error messages.. sluggish performance..
Its getting pretty bad.
I have tried wiping the phone and reflashing it but it does not help..
I have the latest radio update and JF Rom..
Any ideas what could be wrong?
Is there any other custom roms which support the Wireless Tethering?

Uhh, all of them through one means or another...
k whats the best rom then o.o
Personal preference my friend.
I prefer Google Ion. It's stable and fast. Some people don't like it because it looks too "stock".

Hey,
I'm coming from JF 1.5 and since he has stopped developing I thought I better go to a new ROM, what do you guys recommend? How stable are the Hero ROMs for every day use?
Thanks
I would go with the latest cyanogen stable mod which is 4.04.1 one I believe, there are too differant threads for expermental and stable. My opinion is that I would not use a hero for daily use, too slow, pretty but some people say they have fast heroes
I would try either cyan or xrom. If you want to try hero I would go with jacxheroski but no matter what size swap you have you will get SOME lag and calls will come in slowly, it is all personal opinion though so you will have to see what fits you best.
I went from JF 1.51, to a Rogers, and then went from that to Cyanogen. I'd go to Cyanogen and stay there. It works well and is very fast.
Cyanogen is where it's at. I'm using his 4.1.1 experimental with no probs, but the stable is most likely safest 4.0.4.
whats a rom? is it like a firmware?
I suggest xRom, Quick, simple, easy to use and fast as hell.

hero roms are fast and stable enough(for some people) however the maintainance and cutbacks such as no bluetooth, dim leds , and not being able to have many apps running are not worth it(for me at least) if you want a good stable rom i would recommend any of cyans stable roms however on weekends i do usually flash to a hero rom to see the progress that has been made
and yes a rom is like a firmware
A rom is a modified build of android based off a stock system with tons of good stuff like superuser and unicorns. The word roms were used back when we were are little kids using windows mobile and it just has stuck with us. I would have suggested xrom but that requires the danger spl but since it was asked what's a rom, I didn't think it was a good idea
Ps.. yes I said unicorns, mine has unicorns, if your's doesn't, then you got ripped off.......I would ask your rom dev for a refund
I finally took the plunge Sunday night, going from JF1.51 to CM4.0.4, and I couldn't be happier. It's like a whole new phone!
I installed the latest CM recovery image manually, then installed CM Update from the market, ran it, let it do its thing, and viola!
It seems most of the mods are 1.6. I was wondering if there are any Android 2.x ROMs that run at least as fast as 1.6. I don't want a ROM at the expense of the phone running noticeably slower.
Right now I am running cyanogenmod (latest stable).
thanks,
brian
King's AOSP 2.1
It's the fastest and most stable Eclair build so far. Well that's my opinion. Make your own.

Its quite fast but it sure isn't stable. I suspect its the new JIT-compilation that breaks stuff. Other ROMs have turned it off. Tried to boot mine today and had to wipe the dalvik cache in order for it to boot.
Is there one that is fast and stable?
Also, I see people mentioning Hard SPL. A google search brings up no links to it on the first page of results - just references to it. can someone provide a link?
thanks,
brian
Hello,
I am trying to flash a better ROM for my sister's Galaxy 3, currently the one came with the phone is super laggy and slow. I am coming from the X10 Mini Pro forum, and we only have like 3 custom ROM there, but it seems Galaxy 3 have quite a lot more choices...
I am wondering which one is the currently most stable ROM here that have the lag issue fixed? I flash my X10 quite often, but i don't plan on flash and re-flash my sister's phone. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
i would recommend jpm+jit enabled.....
i am cureently using the same....and i am quite happy with it....
I am a advance user, like i said, i flash my X10 pretty much every time the xda developer come out with a hotfix or a newer version of their ROM, the current ROM that i am running on my X10 have stuff like hybrid Foyo/Gingerbread, overclock, undervolt, jit etc. Is not 100% stable, and i need to force close some stuff once in a while, but i have no problem with it.
I don't mind flashing a custom ROM, as long as one of its release is stable (since this will be for my sister's phone, which is a noob).
However, won't the "stock XXJPM or JPN" still have the lag issue though? I thought all the OEM ROM have the lag issue?

Can't, glanced through it,
"This ROM is fast.. no known bugs(only the camera bug), restarts, laggs etc.."
My sister uses the camera for SURE.

hmm... i really tought it was stable... then you can make your own custom rom via Team Lambent Corrosion kitchen and if you want ROM without problems, a "buggless beast" then dont flash any ROMs
I suggest it too, it has Fugumod, the latest firmware and some bug fixes...

Shouldn't you be plugging your own ROM?
That aside, I think stock JPM will do her a treat. Or then deodexed + JIT + Fugutweaks. The camera is an issue pretty much in every rom and it can be avoided by disabling the location stuff. Or it could be someone has a fixed Camera.apk laying around somewhere. If so, let me know, I want it.

no i was thinking that destiny might be the most stable ROM here and thats why i suggested it and as i said EVERY rom has bugs but i tought destiny didnt... and people should just try GreenMods ROM i dont want to say its the best, i know when people test it they will love it i dont have to recommend it

Hum.. i know X10 Mini Pro's ROM has Camera.apk that came with it, and works, but i prefer the Sony Ericsson's SECMCamera.apk instead. So i swapped it out. I wonder if that Camera.apk would work on Galaxy 3...
I think i will try to download and gather up the above mentioned 2 ROMs, and try it out this weekend then...
I haven't found a topic about this issue, except this one

What is the fastest ROM for Magic 32A? I don't care about radio or spl I can change them. As for the rom I don't care about looks or super duper features, I just want it to be as fast as possible with all things working properly. Right now I think I'm using Ginger Yoshi 1.5.
Completely no one knows?
I like carz's CM7.1 port

try gy 1.5 with old radio the baterry long lasting, cm 7.1 have battery drain issue,
If you want speed, find a light donut or cupcake rom with as few features as possible.
Well, since this is probably going to just be an opinion thread, I'll give mine...
You probably don't want to go all the way back to a 1.5,1.6 ROM, because you will be missing out on a lot of apps that just are not compatible with the old Android versions.
But with the current version ROMS my suggestion is either the Ginger Yoshi 1.5 (2.3.5), good ROM, I've used them all the way from the 1.3
Or the Stock OTA 2.1 ROM with root, because it doesn't have all of the features packed in, but is a solid ROM, and since it is rooted you can still use tethering or whatever your purpose for rooting is.
I say 1.6 for speed...for some speed and batteries with features I said a nice eclair like super e or stock 2.2
Sent from my HTC Magic using XDA App
Opinion time? Yay!!!
Best donut: super d
Best eclair: idk, haven't used it
Best froyo: dreamteam froyo by me
Best gingerbread: ezgingerbread by ezterry
All of these (maybe not super d) work with 32b and 32a old radio
I like SFM rom (gingerbread):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1025330
but is a bit unstable
I've been trying some CM101/AOKP/AOSP as well as Sense ROMs On-n-Off and lately facing the same issue,
- After a while the phone staying locked, it becomes unresponsive and then I'd to either reboot or pull battery out ...
- Sometimes the phone acts hanged and then I need to pull the battery ...
Somehow, I've experienced this with all the ROMs, so may be my 2 Yr old soldier is retiring or there is some fix I can do ...
Note ~ for all the ROMs, I always did full wipe and flashed them ...

Ah, I can't imagine to go back to Gingerbread !! I will keep observing, if so, I will go back.
Btw, any suggestions for a good stable GB ROM except stock ...
ROM issues
It could be happening because of an app you're running. I had a similar issue with multiple ROMs, it turned out to be Swype was the culprit. I'd try either running one of those ROMs without anything additional installed, apps or backed up data, or see what's running that didn't come with the ROM and freeze them.
Thanks, sounds like a plan ...
Because every time I installed a ROM, I use TiBu to restore everything ... And I did switches between ICS <-> JB ...

I recently used mG.mW_WiLdFiRe.zip it was pretty much stock gb with wifi calling that actually worked great. If you want something different I'd look at cyanogen mod 7 they had stable 2.3 roms.
I'm trying to find a good stable ICS rom that won't boot loop on me :-/
