just received the Snap i bought for my wife this morning...
after initial set up we tried to make a test call.... there is no sound being transmitted through the mic or speakers?????
anyone else experience this?
i tried a hard reset to see if it would solve it and still nothing...
(also under the menu which shows you how much the device has been used, it says 827 hours.....)
kind of strange.
Looks like you got it from a shady dealer, like it was damaged and returned and then they turned around and sold it to you as a new phone. Id take it back, get a refund and buy from somewhere else. Retailers like that dont deserve business.

Hi guys,
I could not find any other "help" section, so I decided to write my problem here. My Diamond 2 has some sort of display problem, device works, same with touchscreen. I can blindly control the phone, but I can't see anything because LCD does not work. I attached a photo of how LCD looks like when it is not in standby (light on). LCD looks fine with light off (in standby/turned off).
Anyone knows what this might be? I don't know how it happened, but not by my direct action. I checked a clock many times that day, and later when I checked the phone I just could not get LCD to work anymore. Just this.
I already e-mailed HTC service for support. I bought the phone from Amazon UK like 3 months ago, so I think warranty is still valid. I just hope they will not cause any problems and repair the phone without any fees. I am just checking here for your expertise on the matter. Maybe there is someone else here with same problem.
Thanks!
* I tried hard reset button
Hi
By pressing the button at the top (to check the clock) so many times the button may have got loose or the the wires connecting the LCD to the motherboard may be loose, I had this problem with my Nokia N85.
Best thing to do is get it repaired under warranty. First, ring or email Amazon and see what they can do. If your unwilling to send it off Carphone Warehouse will do the repair it for you but you have to find the repair centres. They have quite a few so it should be too hard to find.
Also Carphone Warehouse will not charge you as long as you have proof of purchase.
Man.
Is sending the phone to the Carphone Warehouse a good idea? I was just browsing the net and found many complaints about their repair services.
I sent my Nokia N85 for repair and it was ok. But I can see why your asking because I read the same reviews.
You should definiately try Amazon first.
Man.
Anyone else had this problem yet? Had mine since Oct. 4th
I didn't try to do a data wipe. Just took it to T-mobile for a replacement. Didn't want it to start working again because I had got a scratch on my phone anyways and it was a good opportunity to get a replacement.
Me too. When I use my headphone, people on the other line can't hear me. This happen more than once. I try to do a hard reset but it still don't work.... anyone have any solution.

My issue was the microphone on the phone. Did you not buy from T-mobile or other authorized outlet? Your phone should be within warranty.
Another thing to try would be a Data wipe/factory reset.
Another thing I noticed is that when I charge my phone there is an LED in the earpiece. My last G2's LED must have been defective.
Hi, what happen if you buy the phone from craiglist, how can I return ?

Contact HTC about warranty service I guess. I don't understand why someone would sell the phone on craigslist when it is within the 14 day return policy for tmobile where you can get a full refund unless maybe it was stolen.
You can contact HTC here: http://www.htc.com/europe/CA_Hotline.aspx?region=NorthAmerica
I'm just speculating here, but it's based on past experience with flexible connectors like the one used to bridge the display portion to the body. I'm surprised to see the possible defect occurring so early in life of this handset, but the fact that the ribbon is forced to bend back 180 with a radius of less than 1mm when the display is open puts a LOT of stress on the thin conductors of the ribbon. The problem might have been precluded by HTC using carbon traces rather than typical metallic copper on this critical component. See for yourself by looking at your phone edgewise next time you flip it open. If we're lucky and enough handsets fail like this HTC MIGHT do something of a product recall. Incidentally, has anyone with a dead mic also experienced random screen garbage or erratic touch response? Again I point to the same design flaw.
Here's to hoping I'm dead wrong guys!
This problem just happened to me. With no apparent reason, the internal speaker stopped working. People can hear me, but I canĀ“t hear anything.
Funny thing tho, if I activate the external speaker, it works. The problem is the internal speaker only.
Is it a known problem like the shoddy usb connector on some kaisers ?

dont say anything to tmobile about where you bought it from. there is a one year warranty the original date of purchase. at least there was with the motorola cliq that i got off craigslist. returned it for a fab'd one without scratches gonna do it one more time right before the year is up haha
My G2's mic has also stopped working, been looking around different websites for parts, but I can't seem to find it, u guys know anyone?
If I use it with the headphones/mic, it works fine, people hear me and all. If not, people can't hear me.
FWIW, I had this exact problem shortly before Christmas. the mic started by cutting out sometimes, then failing altogether. Using an external mic worked fine so it wasn't software, just the physical connection to the built in mic. I'm pretty sure that sivalley is right in his speculation that the issue is the flexible ribbon connector.
Fortunately for me my phone was under warranty and HTC arranged to pick it up etc.
Weirdly the day before they were due to pick it up, the whole screen stopped working. I could power up and feel the vibration etc, but the screen never came on. Again I think the common factor was the flexible ribbon.
When HTC repaired it it came with a long list of things they'd replaced to get it working again, so it may not be as simple as just replacing a ribbon connector.
I have no idea whether it's possible to source the parts, but it might be worth finding out how much HTC would charge to fix it if it's not under warranty (could still be a good deal)
I have a Desire Z (bell) that i got off the forums to use with AT&T.. everything went great, i love the phone.. about 3 weeks ago i went to check the phone after leaving it on the charger while i slept and the screen was grey with black lines. all the lights work, and i could even answer phone calls by judging where the slider was. pressing on the screen gets haptic feedback. The phone did not fall while i was asleep. I actually havent dropped it once since i got it (around april)
So i called HTC and the phone is within its 1 year warranty but they said since its a canadian phone i will have to call that carrier, so i called bell and they said "call HTC. If you dont live in canada we wont help!"
So when i call HTC back they tell me to call futuretel and they will fix it. I call futuretel and they say no because im in america.
So i call HTC back again and tell them it is ridiculous that the phone is still under 1 year warranty FROM THEM and they wont fix it. they are supposed to be getting in touch with futuretel for an exception or something but i am tried of waiting.
Attached are pictures of the phone in its current state. It is running cm7 and i had not flashed anything on it for atleast a month before it messed up.
Has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas over what has caused it? I've looked online to find images of another screen doing this and haven't been able to.
i forgot to mention that i offered to pay for the repairs from HTC since i was not the original buyer. They still said they won't work on it. It's not that i dont want to pay for the repair, I cant find anyone to do it!!
You need to fix the screen, mine broke two times:
-Dropped once, the screen was OK, then broke in my pants
-Dropped it again on the floor and my screen broke a second times
Seriously, repair your screen by yourself, you will save about 100$ just because you don't pay for the technician.
Just follow this tutorial, it's pretty easy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-dR8CHEGjY
Then you may want to buy the screen on ebay with the tools for the phone:

Good luck!
thanks. i wanted to get a good idea of what needed replaced to see if i could fix it myself. i didn't know if it was the LCD, or the cable ribbon thing or something else. thank you

I cannot garantee it's the LCD, but both times I got those kind of white screen + black lines it was the LCD for me.
So my awesome Venue Pro with an already sketchy battery is giving me trouble.
It has only happened lately. I'll turn on the phone from standby in order to, well, use the phone. But 95% of the time, the screen will within a split second go black, showing nothing on it. Funny thing is, every key works and illuminates and you can even interact with the touchscreen as I noticed it made sounds previously when I just started moving my finger along the screen, same with powering it back on when it likes to actually show what's on the screen and it'll be on a totally different app or screen itself.
Because I bought it on eBay, Dell, very ignorantly, is refusing to even deal with me in regards to warranty despite the phone being manufactured this year, so I'm hooped for sending it in at all for repairs.
If the touchscreen technically "works", then what could be the problem?
Thanks for your help, guys.
You might want to google something like "dell ownership transfer." Seems to me there was a way to transfer the original warranty term to another person. If you can get in contact with your ebay seller, he may be able to help you out.
Short of replacement, I say the first thing you should try is opening it up and making sure all the cables are connected internally.

The next step will either be re-flashing the original stock 7.0.7004 rom in hopes that it's a software problem (unlikely if you ask me,) or ordering another DVP off ebay and swapping parts until you have diagnosed the problem.
That's the issue- My eBay dealer didn't actually buy the phone himself. He took them as a donation for his not-for-profit business so the proof of ownership is pretty much MIA.
I'm starting to believe the backlight is failing or something close to that. Possibly due to the slider being used? Not any more often than someone else would use it, though. I looked at the disassembly guide and it's something nearly impossible with my lack of tools or understanding.
I'm pretty much hooped then?
Wow, shady. I bet he took advantage of and offer like this and then just sold the phone for profit.

I can't think of any other ideas personally. Selling it off for parts seems to me like the best course. If you decide to do this, you should wipe your phone with a soft reset as you normally would when selling this phone (in settings > about > more > reset my phone.) If what you're experiencing is a software problem (which, again, I very much doubt) this might fix it. If not, your personal data is gone, and you're ready to sell it.
You may want to let the other forum members weigh in on this, but I don't think there's going to be an easy fix that doesn't involve disassembly.
I have attempted a reset + restore and whatnot, so most likely it would be a disassembly issue then.
The issue with me taking it apart would be that I'd probably do more damage that way lol.
The last week or so I'm having trouble with my top speaker or the left speaker. I don't know what happened to it, it just stopped working. I've tried different kernels and cleaning it with air. I hope it's not a hardware problem and something that is easily fixed. I was wondering if anyone else has heard or run into this problem with their device. If so I'd love any suggestions, thank you.
Have you tried returning to factory stock? Sounds like it's hardware related.
I just received my 6p last week. Top speaker does not work at all. Also, when in a call, speaker phone the other end cannot hear me at all.
I already initiated an RMA.
Mine is a hardware issue. I am still 100% stock. Google told me I had to RMA it with the store I purchased it from or go through Huawei. First time I've heard that. Though, since I just did purchase I'm still within the 14 day window to go through the place I purchased from.

No not yet....I'm trying to see if other's have had this problem and have had a fix other than return it or factory reset. I'll give it another week or so and try. Thanks for the reply.

I really hope it's a software issue, I'm overseas and sending it back really isn't an option. Thank you for the reply, I hope your new one doesn't have the same problem.

I had to return it and I got it back fixed...Doesn't sound good for your situation.
I really do love the 6P. Next time I will only be buying through Google though.
Top speaker not working
Hi. I'm having the exact same issue. I purchased a replacement speaker but didnt worked either. I can't return the phone and also I like it better than anything in the market. Any workaround on this please?
