Possible to install default camera to Rogers build? - G1 General

I am using the Cyanogenized Rogers Build but cannot get Ambient Light Sensor to run, as posted here. I assume it has to do with HTC using a different camera build on the Rogers ROM?
So is it possible to replace the HTC Camera with the Camera from Cyanogen's ROM? I tried replacing /system/app/Camera.apk and removing /system/app/HTCAlbum.apk, but the new (Cyan's) camera doesnt show up in the menu. I then tried replacing libcamera.so, libqcamera.so, and libcameraservice.so in /system/lib, but no luck. I then tried rebooting and my phone hung at the G1 splash screen, forcing me to reflash.
Any ideas, or is this something that needs to be done at the Chef level?

[MOD] HTC_CIME v1

Thanks jonasl for this great work for HTC_IME!
However I was looking for HTC_CIME to work on froyo but couldn't find it, so I took some some spare time and modified the HTC_CIME from Hero 2.1
I have tested on froydvillain 1.5.0 and another device with eclair and it works.
And also, the settings for changing input method does not since it requires HtcAlertDialog Builder, I will look more into this another time.

Sorry I don't have any permission to put outside links...
gonna try this out on my galaxy s...ill let you know how it goes
alright so it *works* but i have a few issues
the keyboard is squished to the left side of the screen..i dont think the resolution is correct for my phone.

i am really looking for a usable copy of this for my galaxy, keep it up

g-sensor

ive tried a whole bunch of different combinations these last 2 days and for the life of me i cant get any android rom to pick up the g-sensor..anyone else have this issue...or can tell me what im doing wrong?
I believe someone suggested calibrating the sensor in windows mobile can have some effect in android.
ive tried that and still nothing..
i have the same problem tryed every android build but the sensor didnt work on none of them
yea same here it kinda sucks but i hope it can get fixed soon idk if it matters but im on a tmo-us 1024 hd2
best calibration is turn it off. download gscript lite from market and follow these direction. i only turn it on when i playing a game that requires it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7989313&postcount=2551
how do i turn something off if it doesnt work from the start?
You may be better of, for now, without it. Many users still experience freezing caused by the sensor.
If I were you I'd start from scratch. Task29 your phone, flash a new radio and rom, format the sd and load a new build.
Hyperdroid has a reliable g sensor, for me at least

+1 in ant build any Rom, radio and build combination I get nothing I've tried that script but it just says;
Can't start not a directory, does anyone have a link for the .sh file just to ensure I've got the script right

-FIX- camera and wifi tether on CM 6.1 Builds

Camera fix copy to Android/system/app - http://www.multiupload.com/NUM91NJRVK
Wifi tether fix - install like any other app (make sure you uncheck ''Disable Wake-lock'' in the settings of the app) http://www.multiupload.com/VX0DELSCT0
Default froyo theme for CM 6.1 builds -for those who like default froyo look. Unzip framework.zip to Android/root/system, your folders must look like this on your SDCARD "Android/root/system/framework", or use any other root explorer to copy the files to the system - http://www.multiupload.com/HA0I19WPTM
PS. Sometimes when changing from camera to video doesn't work, for this just restart the app.
Thanks for camera fix =)
What does this fix in the camera?
Thanks
Thanks
Will it work in Sense builds like Desire HD or is it Cyanogen Mod version only ?

What wood panel are you taking about
now the camera no longer hangs, thanks for the work.
So I tried to put in the camera APK, the folders you listed did not exist so I made them and put the APK I downloaded into the folder but it will not install, it fails
Any advise?

The camera fix changes the theme of the camera app. It has a fancy woodpanel-like frame now.
Is there a way to change it back to the stock theme/frame?
I have also noticed continuous auto focus is gone in the camcorder and the camera only focuses after you have pressed the shutter button.

Camera fix doesn't work by me...
i make pictures, go into preview and back to camera, than camera makes problems:-(
(Sorry for my englisch)
Camera Mod works for me, although sometimes I can't exit by pressing back, if this happens I need to press Home then select camera again, then back to exit. But all in all a huge improvement many thanks, running on BiffMod HD2 1.2
Can someone please share the steps to putting this into place? I am unable to it seems. When I try and run the APK it fails to install and if I just have it in the folder specified then I still have the problem. I am using BiffMod 1.2

You should use Root explorer or SUFBS or another program that has root acces to system, then you can manually copy the camera app to system/app.
This works for fixing the flash issue but I noticed I can no longer click the thumbnail in the bottom corner of the screen and look at the pictures I take in the gallery. It is a minor issue but just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same.

[SOLVED] problem - build.prop and framework.jar

im using mdj 2.3 clean and S6 kernel.
ive done 2 things and android dont go past black screen and HTC logo.
first i put the new build.prop to fix the green camera, while in windows mobile, inside SD/ANDROID/ROOT/SYSTEM/build.prop
i didnt boot android yet, i created a folder inside SD/ANDROID/ROOT/SYSTEM
called FRAMEWORK and i put framework.jar for RTL inside:
SD/ANDROID/ROOT/SYSTEM/FRAMEWORK/framework.jar
now i tryed to boot android and no success.
what i did is remove all changes but still android wont boot.
what might be the problem/solution?
im trying to save my build here cus i did alot of changes and i have no backup.
i think its the build.prop that wasnt compatible, what can i do to fix it?

I had something similar happened to me as well...no changes yet it won't boot all the way anymore. Stuck on green HTC screen. I suspect file corruptions so I redownload the clean build, move my data.img to it, fix! You can give that a go. Good luck.

[Q] Camera view reversed after rooting

After rooting the device with Super Boot as "That-Guy" at Modaco forums said, the view of the camera started to show upside down. Also some color changes occured like brown appears as blue and etc.
Apart from this there weren't any problems and the rooting was successful and I could mount as r/w in /system/ and /etc/ folders.
Because of the camera problem I returned to the original boot.img file and installed z4root app. Everything seemed alrignt at the beginning but then I found that I could not mount as r/w in /system/ or /etc/ folders.
The device has the stock rom prepared for Turkey which is b136 sp02 and the Android version is 2.2.1.
Anyone has an idea about the solution for this?
same problem with me, but after rooting i replace the boot.img and recovery.img with the original then voila.... it back normal again
I rooted mine with GingerBreak. That didn't make my camera reversed.

I don't think rooting has anything to do with creating camera problem.
Do you mean your all images comes reverse ? Is it only during taking snap for preview ?
I am currently using MIUI latest build and in that as well, CAMERA snapshot preview comes reverse, but image is O.K. But this has been acknowledged by developer and for me it is not an issue at all. Also video recording is perfectly fine.
