[Q] Camera view reversed after rooting - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

After rooting the device with Super Boot as "That-Guy" at Modaco forums said, the view of the camera started to show upside down. Also some color changes occured like brown appears as blue and etc.
Apart from this there weren't any problems and the rooting was successful and I could mount as r/w in /system/ and /etc/ folders.
Because of the camera problem I returned to the original boot.img file and installed z4root app. Everything seemed alrignt at the beginning but then I found that I could not mount as r/w in /system/ or /etc/ folders.
The device has the stock rom prepared for Turkey which is b136 sp02 and the Android version is 2.2.1.
Anyone has an idea about the solution for this?

same problem with me, but after rooting i replace the boot.img and recovery.img with the original then voila.... it back normal again

I rooted mine with GingerBreak. That didn't make my camera reversed.

I don't think rooting has anything to do with creating camera problem.
Do you mean your all images comes reverse ? Is it only during taking snap for preview ?
I am currently using MIUI latest build and in that as well, CAMERA snapshot preview comes reverse, but image is O.K. But this has been acknowledged by developer and for me it is not an issue at all. Also video recording is perfectly fine.

now the camera no longer hangs, thanks for the work.
So I tried to put in the camera APK, the folders you listed did not exist so I made them and put the APK I downloaded into the folder but it will not install, it fails
Any advise?

The camera fix changes the theme of the camera app. It has a fancy woodpanel-like frame now.
Is there a way to change it back to the stock theme/frame?
I have also noticed continuous auto focus is gone in the camcorder and the camera only focuses after you have pressed the shutter button.

(Sorry for my englisch)
Camera Mod works for me, although sometimes I can't exit by pressing back, if this happens I need to press Home then select camera again, then back to exit. But all in all a huge improvement many thanks, running on BiffMod HD2 1.2
Can someone please share the steps to putting this into place? I am unable to it seems. When I try and run the APK it fails to install and if I just have it in the folder specified then I still have the problem. I am using BiffMod 1.2

You should use Root explorer or SUFBS or another program that has root acces to system, then you can manually copy the camera app to system/app.
This works for fixing the flash issue but I noticed I can no longer click the thumbnail in the bottom corner of the screen and look at the pictures I take in the gallery. It is a minor issue but just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same.

VEGAn-TAB has reached BETA STATUS - We need your help!

Roebeet, Rothnic, and Myself have been hard at work to bring you what we hope will be the killer ROM for our G-Tablets. Now that we have hit BETA status, we are interested in hearing your feedback including issues and feature requests.
The projects git home is here: https://github.com/gojimi/VEGAn-TAB
(here you will find all project code and mods. we are using a free account there and space is limited so ACTUAL RELEASES will happen in the Thread that Roebeet has already started)
Issues and feature requests can be followed and posted here: https://github.com/gojimi/VEGAn-TAB/issues
(please read before posting new issues or features request so we don't fill up with duplicates. you may also vote up the issues you feel are most important and we can concentrate on those areas based on your feedback.)
The wiki for VEGAn-TAB will be here: https://github.com/gojimi/VEGAn-TAB/wiki
(there is nothing there yet.... but as we approach a production stable ROM we may be adding some info here)
Thank you for all your support and patience as we iron out some of the more major issue. (ie. SSL! phew so glad we figured that one out..... such a simple mistake too!)
I am usually buried in CODE or REWORK of current framework that I don't come up for air to check XDA much.... But I do watch the GIT Repo and I will try to make a greater effort to keep an eye on this post.
For questions to issues that you are having but others aren't your answer may still be best answered in Roebeet's post.

Can you guys include a tun/tap module to allow OpenVPN to work?
I can't get the Ad Hoc Tether to work from my rooted Hero phone. I had it working on the Zpad with this fix: http://www.chinadigitalcomm.com/android-a81/a81e-connect-to-ad-hoc-wifi-t1413.html
Any thoughts? Anyone else able to connect to an Ad Hoc Tether?
Edit (Fix) I was using the wrong fix. The fix it to apply the wpa6_adhoc-signed.zip
This was the fix I initially did on the Zpad rom, I just messed up and did the wrong fix...
I had a problem with the sound, sdcard, fc on websites, and changing the soft buttons. It was killer despite those issues. Also rotation of the home screen.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Do you guys still been able to copy the files from laptop to G Tablet running beta? I can't do that. Is there any trick to it or you guys using 2nd SD card?

I had the same issues
I installed the WPA_adhoc-signed.zip and it solved my tethering issues. I tried to find the orginal post with the link to he downlaod but couldn't find it.
I know that there is talk of it in this thread

and this one too

The only issue I have so far is with Grooveshark FCing. Sign up and tutorial screens work fine but the actual interface never loads. Otherwise, great work on this. Its very responsive and other than the GS FCs I have no FCs.
Thank you guys for your hard work.
Wanted to answer a few of the questions. If I forget you I apologize.
OPENVPN support- we'll look into that feature for the future. (MAY not make it into betas)
wpa_supplicant issues.ie adhoc tether. This is an oversight. Should be in next beta
Most of the sound and stock browser FCS have been fixed(Ssl now works)
SD card issues. We are aware and they are all potentially related to a hack we implemented to get external sd support working. This issue includes the internal SD disappearance when connected to pc via usb. This is my PRIMARY focus right now.
Again thank you all for your patience and feedback.
Is there a way to change the launch applications along the bottom? Even if it's a file to modify.

I plan on making a supplement or maybe a full image with the same supplicant binary in TnT Lite, plus that updated Gallery and a clean hosts file.
Working on TnT Lite 2.3.0 primarily at the moment, however. I guess I need two devices!
Another random question. .. I am on Tina lite 2.2 and find it to be super stable and flexible. I am concerned about what will happen when the battery gets to low : )
What happens with this rom when the charge runs out?
With b3 I find that I have to clear devoric cache after each shutdown or I lose the ability to run certain apps. Any suggestions?

Can Not build VEGAn-TAB from source ???
I tried building the source from
VEGAn-TAB git hub
But it seem that there are missing. When I ran
repo init -u < the url submited in this thread for the git> ( it does not allow me to add urls)
I received the following error
fatal: manifest 'default.xml' not available
fatal: manifest default.xml not found
Is it possible to build VEGAn-TAB from source? If it is can you please let me know how?
Thanks
what do i have with VEGAn Beta4??
the only issues i have with this rom is with sdcard2 or the microSD card, only when i put jpeg files in it and i open the gallery to load them and when i do a reboot all the pictures are gone from the microSD card, but just the pictures i can open the music player and play all songs and reboot and they still in there the issue is only for me with image files. After i update the kernel with the patch that has been post on the vegan beta4 topic i think this is almost perfect....i hope you can fix the files getting erased on the microSD card.....but after all you guys are doing and amazing job with all the ROMS you have made....i'm very gratefull for all the work you have done, you make love more this tablet....thanks a lot!

Enable tethering through build.prop issues

So recently... I have tried to enable tethering through editing the build.prop. Upon reboot... My camera app stops working and 3rd party camera apps become buggy if I try to replace the stock app.
I am using the "net.tethering.noprovisioning=true" technique.... And changing nothing else. Has anyone else run into this issue or does anyone have a fix.
Issue specifics:
- Happens no matter on stock ROM rooted or custom ROM (currently on resurrection remix)
- flashlight will also stop working until I edit quick menu icons and then it works.
- I have tried wiping cache and formatting.
- tried rebooting
- tried backing up build.prop and restoring it... Issue still stays.
- for awhile I was using elementalx kernel... But the problem still seems to stay on Ex or stock kernel.
- happens on both android 6.0.1 and 7.1.1 ( 7.1.1 currently used)
- moto g4 xt1625 (non-amazon) Athens retus phone model
Any thoughts or fixes?
Thanks
Sorry to double post... But I had a separate thought...
Is there any reason to believe that editing the build.prop outside of Android OS on a Windows PC then remounting it.... Would fix the problem? It doesn't seem to make logical sense that it would help, but at this point I'm grasping at straws.
Thanks

I had the same exact problem, and tried many of things you tried without success. I finally tried the solution on another site and it fixed all the problems. After I tried it, I realized it was probably a permission issue on build.prop.
I'm not allowed to post the link of the site. However, long story short, try changing the permissions of build.prop by using chmod 644 build.prop, or change build.prop to -rw-r--r-- .

Gcam v7 on the lg V35

I was wondering if anybody has found a gcam version 7 that works on the v35. I am not sure if that is something that only works on Android 10. Please if anyone knows of a working version please let me know.
I found a version that works, but the viewfinder is laggy a buffer fix would make if perfect. All else seems to be working. https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog838/
Just tried this one GCam_7.2.010_Burial-vCv_release14.03.20.apk and it works with a couple of hitches.
Can't save or load any configs as it says 'no access to storage' although it does have access. It even says it does in permissions of the App in settings.
And the other odd thing is that the selection for wide angle (0.6x) causes it to crash (and you have to delete cache and data and start again), but unclick wide angle setting and use telephoto, then the wide angle works :-|
I do have the buffer fix flashed in magisk, but didn't try this app without it, so not sure if it would work without it or not. But it's great to have a Gcam port that's pretty much fully functional. And the picture quality is, on first impression, quite good.
cheers

Unfortunately without buffer fix it has the laggy viewfinder problem. How can I flash the buffer fix via magisk? Do you have a guide on how to install magisk in v35?

I don't have a guide myself but there are some in the 'How To' sections. I'll mention the basic steps, but first there is a gcam version that works great without the buffer fix as it's 'built in'. But, it's not v7, it's a v6.2.
Try this link for the changelog page, which also has a download link on it for the port. The only thing I found that didn't work on this one was doing a night sight shot with the selfie camera.
Installing Magisk is pretty easy, assuming you have some prior experience installing / using it. If yer brand new to it then it's a bit involved.
First, you have to be boot loader unlocked. Then use qfil to get the boot_a (and boot_b if doing both sides) (or vice versa if b is active). This is the image that Magisk will 'patch'.
Next get both of those images on your phone and also the latest Magisk Manager apk. Install this apk the way you would any other apk.
Next, be sure you're connected to the net, open the magisk manager apk, at the top it will tell you the Manager is installed but Magisk isn't. To use Manager to install Magisk we next click on 'advanced settings', and on that page we only select 'Recovery', leave the other two unchecked. Now, look back up where it says 'Magisk not installed' and next to it, click on 'Install'. I don't remember the all the options it gives you next but the one you want is 'patch an image'. Then simply direct it to the boot_a (and b if doing both), and it will patch the image with magisk and tell you where it is on your device.
Copy it from your device to PC so you can use qfil to flash it to the boot_a partition. It may not show up the first time you boot the device, but it is there. To get it to show be sure to connect to the net and / or reboot it again, it will eventually show up.
This is just how to do it in a nutshell, you might also want to be sure to read any guides available here. They will probably be more informative and clearer, I'm just kind of going from memory here.
Cheers
Best gcam apk so far for lg v35 with Korean Android 10 rom is: HyperCam-RaizenA-10-OPZ_RN8P.apk everything is working when buffer fix and awbgains mod are enabled. The only problem is thay it lucks the re-int fix thus after 2 pics it takes more than 5 sec for the next photo which can be worked around by quickly switching between selfie and normal camera after 2 photos.
Update:
There you go: Best gcam for Lg v35 with Android 10 or 9
Enable: buffer fix , re-int and night sight fix
Version: Gcam_6.1.021_V1.6_02b6.5_A10_Wyroczen_v2.apk
Works excellent ? the only problem is the reset of the viewfinder after each photo (when re-int is enabled to fix the above problem).
Enjoy ?

Not familiar with your custom ROM but many people don't properly install custom ROMs
Did you FORMAT (not Wipe - it's completely different thing) Data partition (!) when you switched the ROM? If you didn't, you must do it
Assuming you had audio with the official MIUI (otherwise, you may have hardware issue)

I'm not sure if this has something to do with hardware since I dont recall it falling, etc.. It suddenly stopped working at all.
There are codes that you dial and you can test all your hardware separately. It depends on rom, so you have to try

If you have Magisk, use Magisk Hide Props Config module to add/edit/remove any prop
Otherwise, from TWRP, Advanced, File Manager (for e.g. build.prop file) go to /system and copy the file build.prop to /sdcard.
Reboot to Android, edit your copy of build.prop saved to Internal memory.
Reboot again to TWRP, mount System as writable, copy build.prop to e.g. build.bak and copy your edited build.prop from /sdcard to /system
If anyting goes wrong, reboot to TWRP, remove your build prop and rename your build.bak back to build.prop
You can also copy build prop from TWRP to PC, edit it there and copy back
Google for details if you are unfamiliar with, this is just general idea
If using TWRP, make sure you make a backup file (like build.bak) to be able to resolve possible brick or something
If using Magisk and that MHCP module, changes will be systemless (google if not familiar with the term) and you can simply disable the module (and automatically all your changes on props) if anything goes wrong
Generally, it's not for beginners to play with props

Thanks for explaining everything brother. Now I will do a research about editing audio or sound on build prop. Hopefully this is not a hardware issues.
Same issue encountered with me also. I am in a great distress right now. Tried more than 30+ roms (including recover, fastboot, custom, and stock), but nothing helps.
IF you find anything please update here.. THat'll be a great help indeed!!
