hello guys, i'm really desperate now. my Magician is dead. i followed the laid out procedure 100% for upgrading to bigstorage. that's what i did:
- dump rom on to the sd card (512MB).
- got a external card reader (since the one in my laptop did not work with ntrw.exe)
- killed ActiveSync (wcesmgr)
- dumped the rom to my hard disk
- got Big_ROM_Ger_1.11.nb1 from ftp
- changed the first 416 bytes with ultraedit.
- wrote the resulting rom to the sd card with ntrw.exe.
- flashed (got the question in bootloader mode, pressed power).
- flash completed, got the 100% message and checksum failure.
- did a softreset
- my Magician is now DEAD !!!
Tried to put it in bootloader mode again, nothing! Put out the battery, unplugged and replugged usb cable, nothing!
PLEASE, any suggestions or help ??????
Please explain "nothing." Are you getting anything on the screen, blank screen, backlit, logo, text, anything?
Can you zip and upload your modified ROM dump file to dropload, rapidshare, or some other portal where someone can take a look?
Did you pull the battery completely, reinsert it, and pressed the reset+camera+power to get back into the bootloader?

the screen is absolutely blank. if i plug in the power cord not even the charging lamp is on.
i removed the battery completely for a few hours now, reinserted it just that moment and pressed reset + camera + power --> blank screen, no backlit, no logo, no text. i even used my torch to make sure i didn't miss the bootloader message. nothing.
when i press the reset + camera + power button the blue led blinks for a split second but then again nothing.
tried it with and without external power....
any clue????

well, could be possible.... kinda teaches me not to mess around too much. i flashed my old xda II with magneto and all, never had any problems....
anyway, i will try to clear the backup battery over night and try it again tomorrow. if it still doesn't work, i'll get it back to the shop. it's brand new (2 weeks), so i guess (hope) it shouldn't be a problem.

sounds that you have exactly the same problem I had. I also wanted to use bigstorage. First I updated to 1.06 official rom from T-mobile Germany. Then I used mksbigstorage to modify this rom. After installing this my mda was stuck at the splashscreen. But the bootloader still worked so I was able to restore my original rom.
Next I downloaded the 1.11 extended german rom from xda-developers ftp-server. I also replaced the first 416 bytes with the one from my rom. After installing this rom and doing a softreset my device was completely dead. No bootloader, no even a blinking light when connecting it with the power supply. I also tried to remove the battery for some time. But nothing worked. As I also had this device for just some days I finally did send it back and recieved a new one.
On this new one I also tried to modify rom 1.06 with mksbigstorage. But after that it was again stuck at the splash-screen. Mksbigstore seems not to work on this rom. Finally I was able to use bigstore by modifying two adresses in the original 1.06 rom downloaded from my device. This method is described in this forum. Worked without problems.
So I do not know what went wrong and I am sure I followed the instructions for flashing bigrom exactly, but as I am not the only one with this problem there is a risk flashing under certain circumstances.

I had the same problem flashed XDA 1 hundreds of times without problem. Flashed Magician device one time --> same problem as you have.
I've sent my device to repair center and they installed a new motherboard. So i don't believe that tehre is any fix to relive you're device..... :-(

I don't see anything wrong with the ROM file except for the fact that it's slightly larger than my ROM (65281k vs. 65427k). May have been a bad write to the SD card. Was your card a 64MB SD card?

My card was a 512 MB SD Card, since it is the only one I have.
On Monday I'll send it to the service center

Thanks for your response, kinda reduces my pain and asures me that I'm not a complete idiot....
I'm now pretty sure that I have the same problem as you have and that sending it to the service center is my only option....
At least I can use my Himalya with Magneto a few more days :wink:
I guess I will not try this again since I don't want to risk killing it again, allthough I allready had problems with the storage size on the working device (tomtom).
One more question: Did anybody ever had problems on upgrading from a t-mobile rom to a vodafone rom? is it even worth upgrading to 1.12?

I have a HTC P3300.
I bought a 4Gb SDHC card, and it won't work. I read at the forum that I would need a different rom, so I downloaded "Artemis_Touch_4.02_Full_with_no_cube", which would have sdhc-support.
Then I executed "STEP 1 - activesync then uspl cid unlocking.bat", that finished ok, and then "STEP 2 - activesync then flash artemis touch rom.bat", which stopped with an error 302.
After a restart all that came up was the boot loader. I then tried to flash the original rom (HTC WM6 Dutch) from the computer, but that ended also in an error.
I tried the SD upgrade (rename .nbh file to ARTEIMG.nbh, put it on a formatted sd-card and load it in my phone), and it finished without errors, saying I should press any key.
After pressing a key, the bootloader popped up again.... :S
Can anyone help me? I have been searching the forum and trying to get my phone to work since 21:00 and I haven't got any progress at all!

did you tried to make hard reset?
and once i had a completely dead artemis.. no sign of life..but it fixed by the following..(and maybe this may help you cuz the flasheng goes not like usual)
while your mobile is off.. press the record botton and the camera and it should starts with usual sd card flashing.
for me this what happens.
the setup was in three phases as i saw... and it took about 30 mins .
maybe it will works for you
I also tried a hard reset, wouldn't work.
I pressed and hold the camerabutton, but nothing happend...
Maybe the battery is empty, so I pressed and hold the camera button while plugging in the usb-cable.
It started the SD-upgrade, and is still busy.
The update ended with a "press any key to continue".
But when I pressed a key, the boot loader popped up :S
When I tried to flash another rom (NLD-FINAL), an error occurred (I believe it was error 270, not sure).
But then the normal startup screen appeared!
I don't know how, but the problem seems to be fixed!
sorry i mentioned the wronge button before..
try to start flashing by pressing the RECORED button and the power.. while your mobile is off.
and be sure that you copied the original shipped ROM to your device (NOT elese)
As you can see in my previous post, I managed to flash the original rom.
I'm gonna try to upload an other rom some other time...
And with a patch I got the SDHC working too!

Hey, thanks a lot, I tought, my HTC-Cruise is ready for sending to repair, but with your info, it works again. I could install the WM 6.1 again, after System hangs up while booting every time. He found USB connection on a colored sreen. Thank you very much.

I have read and read and read. I have "bricked" my phone in the past and fixed it. I have used, tested, and flashed many roms from this site (Thanks to all cooks for their work!) but I still consider myself somewhat 'new' to troubleshooting.
I woke up this morning to make some important phone calls today and as luck would have it, my phone was stalled again. It's been doing that for a few weeks now. My last flash was Open Touch 5.0 UL I believe (either that or 5.2 biggy) and it has been working great except for the occasional freeze.
EDIT: Forgot to add, the actual problem is now it won't boot up after it froze this morning. Just sits at the boot screen
So I've tried my other methods of fixing it... /edit
Except this morning nothing is working. I have tried flashing with Orig. T-mobile ruu, tried SD flashing with the RUU_signed.nbh, tried restarting the computer, phone, removing battery and sim... NOTHING! When trying the sd flash (which I've never done before today, it reads and tells me to push the down button but then goes to bootloader screen and just sits there. With the RUU I'm getting err 300 but I'm using the SAME RUU (4.10...) that I've used in the past to reflash my phone AND tried the new one (4.26...)
Possible problem: Does it matter what kind of usb cable you use? I don't have the normal one I use as I am not home but I figured usb is usb...
I've read about it being a motherboard issue, how common is this?
I've read somethings about MTTY, would this apply to me??
Please help, anyone who has any suggestion, I'll try it!!

Thats basically what mine did. The colors would get messed up and no matter what button i pressed it would not do anything. My advice to you edrift, is BACK UP YOUR STUFF NOW and reflash it asap if you can still reboot. I can get into my phone at all now.

Is it a t-mo USA device? If so.. yes it's bricked.
When you say it wont boot do you mean you can power it on but it wont get past the splash screen? Or it just streight up wont power on?
Same as he said.. Does it power on? Power = good. Somtimes units will only power on when plugged into usb / charger. If this is the case, when it boots up go into boot rom by pressing vol down and reset in the back. When the tri color screen loads and says USB. Flash to a official rom such as the tmobile one.
man if you instaled 1.66 he is bricked i did the same with mine a big f mistake , but i fix it with cost , but is very hard to find service that will fix it , it just need a resurection ... if you still have the phone contact me. maybe i can help

Yours is totally different problem, and you should try flashing stock rom from sd.
Could you help me with that?

Take a image from the original ROM Say Vodafone, T-Mobile (your operator)
Extract the file, for me it is : "RUU_Leo_Vodafone_NL_1.72.172.0_Radio_CRC_Signed_15.32.50.07U_2.07.51.22_2_Ship"
Use Winrar to extract this file : RUU_signed.nbh maybe called different but look for the biggest file extracted.
I hope you have a MicroSD
Rename
RUU_signed.nbh to leoimg.nbh put it on the MicroSD card
Put the MicroSD in the Phone,
Press down the Volume (left side) like you want less sound out of your phone
Press same time the Power On button hold it down until you see a bootloader
Now your ready to reflash original rom from the MicroSD
use HSPL 2.08 to load the not branded roms to the divice
Hope it works,
When you have Power in the phone then it wil work for sure

Hi all,
After flashing HyperDroid-GBX-v12, I found that when I make a call, there is no haptic feedback when connected, is it possible to turn it on?
Another problem is related to the 1st splash screen.
Because I flash Energy ROM before, the original HTC screen was replaced.
Now, when I found some thread with original screen, I can't flash it back to my phone because it requires an ActiveSync connection.........but I'm running Android now..........do you know how to fix it?

splash screen = download the file u want unzip it, find the .nbh file rename it to LEOIMG.nbh put it on a formatted micros sd card, turn phone off, put card in hold volume down and keep holding turn phone on untill screen goes grey and it will let u flash the splash screen
