Hi,
I guess this is kinda a question and a request, but I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who hates the WM interface for SMS/Email - both creating and reading.
TouchFlo did nicely with the reading part, but not so well the writing (as it diverts to the WM interface, instead of a nice GUI)
I'm not much of a developer, but dabbling here and there... I'd love to make my own interface, or install one (saving me a bit (lot) of time), but it all seems in vain...
So, my question - has or is anyone developing a nice little GUI for this, or can someone point me in the right direction to get started...??
I've tried trawling MSDN, but being a bit of a newbie programmer, absolutely nothing makes sense to me...
Thanks...!

Thanks Dickenz,
This looks good...! I use Resco contacts for my SMS which is half way there (nice read interface, but no write)
It would be great if this integrated Email too...

Howdy,
I have seen all of the threads on the subject, and seen the proggy, and know the sensitivity around all this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=289523
However, it obviously makes sense for someone to cook it so that the iphone looking front end is cooked into a good rom with the stability of a
schraps, or a black satin, etc.
I have tried setting it up separately, but I am a newbie, and have bricked 1 hermes already trying reset it after I screwed it up.
Has this not happened because of the sensitivity on the matter or something else?
Again looking for rom load that uses the apple looking screen already cooked to a rom for a hermes (HTC wm6)
Thanks in advance
obiviously I am referring to the fornt end picture per this url
http://mobilecrunch.com/wp-content/iPhone1.jpg
Claunch is a today plugin that launches applications. Why do you need it cooked in ?! What you're showing in your picture is a regular iPhone. What are you talking about exactly ?
Making the hermes look like an iphone
sorry
What I was trying to say is that they have the skins now to make the hermes (or I guess any wm6 phone) look like an iphone.
But I find the apps/skins not the easiest thing to use/get right/tweak.
Launch on start up etc.
So what I was trying to spit out was has anyone cooked the proggy/skin that does this into a rom so it doesn't to be tweaked.
cheers
I dont understand why this Iphone home screen suppose to be such good think.
The most important thinks that I need in my first look would be my appointments, outstanding task etc. Iphone screen just provides shortcuts for some applications. Well I may not get really what is it about.
Anyhow you can do such thing without any issues and any special rom. what you need is the Iphone icons (I am sure there are hundreds in the web) then the wisbar advance Desktop.
Iphone looking launch screen
Thanks Bulldog.
Love it or hate it, the simplicity of the iphone, skin, is it is good looking and functional.
It is also the benchmark that all other phones will be measured against for a long time (as the phone has not arrived outside the US yet).
Thanks for your tip but wisbar is not quite slick enough.
There are others but they too are not quite right.
I am sure someone has cooked it all in one.
It wouldn't be worth cooking claunch into rom. It's a tiny app, and the pleasure of it is customising it to launch the apps you want to launch.
I've written several guides for claunch, hunt around. But it's a simple app.
What might be useful is if someone makes an all-in-one iphone-alike pack. And those probably do exist. Burning claunch into ROM wouldn't be very helpful.

all-in-one iphone-alike pack
Any direction you can point thee would be appreciated .. thanks
I've posted in the Clock forum with hardly a response. Is anyone addressing the basic issue with business use of TF3D? The Today screen, while attractive, is not well suited to the original purpose; to see mail, appointments, etc at one glace. It uses up so much room needlessly, that there is no room for appointments.
The clock is about twice as big as necessary. Missed calls are not so critical as to need an entire line. Then last is what needs to be first, the agenda. Room for one appointment isn't even close to what a business person needs; we need the bulk of our day at a glance. In this respect, the original MS Today screen was far better, primitive as it is.
The fix is easy in concept. A clock half the size, and dropping the Missed Calls section in favor or an notification icon or something similar would allow room for 3-4 agenda items, which is acceptable in most cases. The question is, does TF3D let one make these kinds of changes? Anyone?

'The fix is easy in concept' is the key words here...
In reality It's not easy...
personally I don't know why you opened a new thread on this subject.. you have already done/asked the same statement/question...
I agree with you.. I would also like to have more appointments, etc on the Home tab...
If you'll have a look around here in the forum you will see that there is research going on on the subject of altering the programming of manila files...
But needless to say It's not easy! (or there would be more changing, more tabs, more of everything in TF3D)
Do a search about it... maybe you can contribute with your knowledge and programming experience?
Yes, I do understand that concept is different than implementation.
It is a new thread because clock design is not the primary topic, it is a means to an end. Also, because I had received no response previous to yours here. Thank you.

As a frequent RSS user I still didn't find an RSS Reader which uses the snappy interface and touch friendly buttons of TF3D. So I created some screens hoping an enthusiastic developer feels challenged to create an ultimate RSS reader for TF3D.
Some requirements should be:
Import feeds from OPML file and/or sync with Google Reader
Update All, Update Channel or update Feed seperately (conveniant when using roaming abroad)
Auto update (every .. minutes/hours/days) and notify when new items arrive
... And more
A great wish would be to add the program in the tab structure in TouchFlo.
So the big question is: Which developer feels the urge to create this baby????
If someone feels this urge, I will make more screens, but I first want to know if there's somebody out there who wants to help me...
Hmm that's a good idea, especially love the "sync with google reader" part, browsing google reader on opera mobile is just plain madness.!
Love to see this becoming a real program! Hope someone will help you out nielsepiels!
yeah ! good idea !

Got my vote too - I could offer my services beta testing on my AT&T Fuze - I would definitely donate for this - Heck, I'll give someone a few bucks as soon as i see a beta!
same.. i would def donate some money for this, was thinking of something like this the other night.
anythings better than RSS Hub - buggy as hell with its constant freezes
maybe this is the right place to post it.......i would love to develop such an application (and other tf3d plugins) but i didnt find any documentation on tf3d development so far......the only thread where someone asked for a documentation is only available in google-cache with no answer posted....
maybe you guys or someone who reads this thread do know where to find tf3d-dev-docs...
thx!

TF3D is developed in Lua. D-MAN666 is one of the few guys who knows how to edit TF3D and develop TF3D applications, like his calendar application.
@ Nielsepiels & Mandragore: THX!!
wow, this looks cool. would be awesome if you could code this app. and props to the thread starter, nice screens!
I think we need more threads like this. that way we get more finger friendly and nice looking apps!
Hi guys , i'm sure it's a very useful idea.
I'm thinking about coding this (i'am learning on mobile coding) , waiting for any suggestion , so let's go for making this cool stuff.
ps: sorry for my bad english ;-)
Came across this thread and thought it was worth reviving
There was a thread about this a long long time ago, but I think people just forgot about it. Its such a good idea - and yet HTC havent even mentioned any RSS enhancements for the new version of TF3D on Diamond2, etc :s. I hope someone can make this - they would definately get a donation from me for it
Upping this to see if there are any developments.
I wonder if the email tab on TF3D can be "tweaked" to receive RSS headlines instead of sending and receiving from an email account?
I'm going to try and found out how that tabs is put together it might offer some ideas.
I'd love to be able to flick through the headlines/stories from my favourite feeds like you do with text messages or even better have a "ticker" running across the screen with the latest news..... that would be cool
hi guys, sorry for new thread but i need few things for my diamond. i wrote to support center but no answer, here is what i need
"hi guys, have diamond for a few days, searched and read lot of stuff here but still didnt find exactly what I wanted, maybe somen can help me with these things:
1. I would like to have battery life in % eg: 75%
2. Some simple organizer (dont like default calendar too much)
3. which processes I can kill with something to get more performance from my diamond? (for example: i kill opera9 - which I dont use and the process starts automatically)
4. really good and simple keyboard which can be used by fingers

Now I found these all on the very first page of the forum.
So I'm going to use a quote that is been used many times on the forum.
USE THE ****ING SEARCH TOOL.
it's there for your pleasure.
also, just browse around and who knows what nice things you may find.

Well, there is this thing about this forum.
You see, lots of people are building nice little programs for windows based phones, and there are many things that they didn't think of, because they didn't think that their keyboard was a really big problem.
They did find it a problem to have a keyboard to use with their fingers, because ot wouldn't leave enough space for their text mesaging.
battery life, it's seeded on the forum about that object.
and I did see a program that helped closing programs for you, but you might just wanna try start -> settings -> taskmanager -> buttons, maybe this already helps you
Everything on this forum is free and everyone is very willing to help you, but not if we see a question for the so maniest time.
What I propose to you, is if you are looking for something, but can't find it, make a request.
make perfectly clear what you are looking for and how this could benefit you.
maybe one of the programmers might see the benefit as well and wants to write someting for you.

Well the answers you have got show just what an unwelcoming and unfriendly place this is - certainly one of the worst forums for that I know. But then lots of useful info too, and that is the problem. Despite the "in crowd" people's suggestion the search tool is marginally more useful than wetting your finger and sticking it in the air, unless you are used to it!
Just a shame nobody has any Christmas spirit for newcomers aint it!
Hmm, I see what you mean.
Funny thing is, I didn't mean it to be this harsh, but as I read it back, I see how easily it is to provoke people.
So hereby I apologize to Hawk-Kthulu
I'll also will use the f word some less in the future.
Hi everybody,
I recently completed an extensive guide to the Xperia and Windows Mobile in general. Most of the info might be old news if you're an experienced user, but hopefully there's something in there for everyone. If nothing else, it may be convenient to have all the elemental stuff gathered in one place.
I have tried to compile the best and most common tweaks and customizations, essential software in seven different categories, the many user-interfaces and how to get them, various modifications and some of the highlights from here (XDA Classics), et cetera. I did my best to include as much as possible, and the guide will continue to grow.
Here it is if you want to have a look:
A Guide to Windows Mobile
I put a lot of effort into this and I would really appreciate some feedback, what do you think of it?
I hope you'll find the guide useful.
Thanks --Lars
I am reading it now. You have done an excellent job mate.
This could be the perfect way to beginners to tweak their X1 without doing all the testings we did, with all the hard resets and restore of our backups we did to get all this... If you keep it up to date with all the new software, this could be the ultimate guide to the X1
Great Work!!!
Kudos! Check it out: http://xperiancer.blogspot.com/2009/04/he-made-guide-for-xperiawinmo.html
WoW!
This is a great guide
Keep up the good work
Excellent job - clear and comprehensive.
Comforting to note that I have already come across many of the tips and tweaks, but there are still a few new ones, for which I'm grateful to you.
On the profiles issue, my recommendation would be Phone Weaver - it costs a bit of money, but that is money well spent if you ask me. Highly configurable, very stable, and does the job very nicely thank you very much.
I'm going to have to investigate the JBed font size tweak though - I don't have a "Device Info" folder in the registry so there is no Java Font setting to change.
Thanks great job It will be great to create a wiki ! ;D
I would like to second the well done comments posted here and I have some suggestions. The trend in WM is for big one size fits all interfaces like TF3D and Point UI etc. While such interfaces are nice to look at they dont offer much opporutunity for user customisation, you can change a background and thats bout it.
I am a fan of the Previous system used on the today screen where users select plug-ins and configure them to there own tastes. The two I use most are HomeScreen ++ Floyd theme and TodayGif, all of which had there roots on this site.
How about a list of open source freeware Today Screen Plug-ins that users can customise and change, for users like myself who resent being put in a software straight jacket like TF3D. Other manufacturers like Samsung and Nokia and iphone, are going down the plug-in or widget route, increasing user customisation, while WM seems to be moving in the opposite direction, away from the more flexible, more customisable previous plug-in system.
Thats my 2P, once again good job.
i like the site, very useful!
A big THANK YOU for your work!
I just hoped to find such a great summary of profound knowledge here in the Wiki for the X1.
Once more: Great work! Keep it up!
I’m very glad for all the positive feedback, thank you!
I will make a news box at the top of the page with recent updates and additions, since my ambition is to add all things of interest that I come across to the guide.
msalmank: I appreciate the blog post, cheers
Mr Anderson: I installed the trial version of Phone Weaver, seems like a really good utility for profiles (if not the best of the bunch) - I’ll add it to the guide.
Mark A Cilenti: I intentionally left out the minor Today Plug-ins because I thought they would be of less interest, but I agree: there should be such a section as well.
remixtech: Even though you had a little wink smiley after your wiki suggestion, I took it as a dare and I will make a wiki version of the guide as well that anyone can contribute to (even though chance is no one will write in it)
Thanks again, folks. I'm off to bed
wow this is awesome!
Brilliant! Thank you for your hard work, i've found it very useful.
Altough I am already aware of most of the tips and tweaks listed on your guide I must tell you that it is definitely the best compendium on the X1.
Hats off to you!
Thank you very much for all your hard work.
excellent site.. great work..
I thank deeply from my side.
Definitely comprehensive and sufficient source of almost all needed WM/X1 info!
Any example on your WinMo Xperia Guide about Bottom menu of HelloWorldPanel example
Hi
I tried modifying the HelloWorldPanel example that comes with the SDK.
I still have trouble trying to show the custom bottom menus of the Xperia screen.
Could someone share the code snippets on how to get this to work ?
I like to have 2 menu on the left and on the right, and one menu has items to pick from the list when clicked.
Many thanks!n
Thx.. a very nice site with nice info ^.^
Thanks for all the responses! Great feedback.
