Finger friendly file explorer? - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hi guys!
Just wanted to know: is there a finger-freiendly alternative for the windows mobile file browser?
One with HUGE (touchable) files/directories, cool graphics and fluid iPhone like scrolling?

Resco Explorer is for me best file explorer, and there is touch optimized mode.

the latest resco file explorer has finger frienly mode wich is what i use and it has the most options all around

Hell yeah, that looks cool. Thanks!

I wish Resco would make the 'send to/copy to' window finger friendly, choosing where to copy or move is a nightmare without using the d-pad

An other finger friendly explorer is FileExplorer http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508139&highlight=throttle+explorer

is this normal with resco file explorer?

When i try to open a folder with the navipad center button i doesn't happen. I can only folders with the stylus which is very incomfortable because i cannot use the pocket effectively without the stylus. Thanks!
I'm not exactly clear on what's wrong... But what version of Resco FileExplorer are you using? As far as I know this is not regular behaviour... Does it work in FileExplorer that comes with the ROM?
yes with the standart file explorer i can use the center part of the joystick as enter but with the resco it is not possible. my version is 5.35

Don't you miss the d-pad ?

Hello all blackstone owners,
I'm currently a Kaiser owner. I'm thinking about going to the Blackstone. But I was wondering if the lack of a D-Pad would not be a problem for me.
For exemple, if I open a file explorer, to browser the files (up and down) I use the D-Pad. So I'm not obliged to use the stylus.
How does it work with the blackstone when you have to browser files, are you obliged to use the stylus ?
Note : the files explorer is just an exemple (I know Resco Explorer can help in browsing with the fingers), I 'm wondering the same question when you need to browser your notes for exemples, or anything else ...
Thanks !
With the Touch HD you can scroll in the file explorer with your finger as well!
Do you mean that you can browser the files using your fingers in the integrated microsoft file explorer ?
Can you also do that with all other applications like "notes" for exemple ?
Thanks
You can't scroll in notes with your finger (it just draws a line where you would like to scroll), but in every other application it works fine.
cursor keys
I solved this with "AE Button Plus" mapped keys.
You see in spanish at this address: http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?p=160176
Had a Qtek S100 and a HTC Tytn before my HD and was a big button user
Getting used to all touch on the HD took about 2 hours
So it's fine by me !
Thanks to all of you for your answers, I guess I'll need to try it by myself... But it will take months before I can touch one in a shop...

What Registry and File Editor to use on the HTC HD2

Hi there,
sorry to ask this simple question to you pros here, but can someone please post a link on what Registry and File Editor to use on the HTC HD2?
Thanks in advance
Cheers
I have Soti Pocket Controller, so I use the one that's included with that. It's a lot easier to do it from a PC screen and you're less likely to make any mistakes.
Thanks for the swift reply, so you are not using some software on the device itself but on the PC.
Are you using this version: http://www.soti.net/default.asp?Cmd=Products&SubCmd=PCPro
?
Cheers
P.S. If I wanted to use soemthing on the device itself, what do you recommend?
I love Resco Explorer, it is a very very good file manager and has an equally good registy editor included.
otherwise, the free total commander does a good job, too, but is not really finger friendly.

I have Resco Explorer which apparently has a good Registry editor, but I've never used it TBH. I'm sure other guys here are better placed to recommend a good registry editor to use directly on the phone.

I used 2008 and now for testing 2010. Both works good
File explorer
What sort of files are you planning on editing?
As a file explorer, I found a very useful extension called fexploreext which is not a swiss army knife, but a single blade pocket knife. Very useful, and simple.
For the registry, I use a desktop editor called CeRegEditor free from from mdsoft.pl
On the device, PHM is good.

Yes that's the one. Without wishing to sidetrack thsi thread I use Pocket Controller to type long messages, texts or emails on my phone using my PC or laptop. It's much easier & quicker than typing directly on the phone and with the HD there's absolutely no lag.
I am using Resco Explorer 2010 (BETA) and love it. The interface isn't any different from previous version, which is fine as they had a touch interface that worked perfectly on HD2 already.

Hi there,
I was looking into modding my HD2 with the Mods featured on this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583638
Thus I assumed I will need both programs, right?
Cheers and thanks all for your replies!
I would like to try Total Commander 2.52 beta, but cant figure out which cab to download, do i need all 4? Please help a nOOb...
http://tcce.s3.amazonaws.com/b2/cabs.htm
Got it (arm.cab), just had to read...hehe
Even bigger noob question - what do I do with the above arm.cab file? Step by step instructions would be v handy

Find where you have saved the cab file using file manager and tap on the cab to install. Let it install and then it should then appear in your start menu. Cabs are to windows mobile what setup.exe is to desktop windows.
Many thanks Wizzzard. So far so good. I'm guessing that most .CAB's should be installed on the device and not on the Storage card? I've just installed Total Commander and now just need to figure out how it works etc and start looking in the Hints and Tips section.

Same here. However, I also have the freeware 'PHM Regedit' installed on my HD2 for emergency alterations when on the move. It works quite well with fingers.
As for file editors you simply cannot beat Resco Explorer. It's the best file explorer/editor on Windows Mobile but unfortunately isn't free.
For anyone not using activesync and wanting to try the resco 2010 beta, you can just open the installer with winrar and itll show u the cabs, copy to phone and install.
9/10, nice, but i expected more change since previous resco explorer & plugins, then again its still beta so more change may come

Best file explorer program?

What file explorer does everyone use? I use Resco but just wondered if there was a more slicker looking one out there?
i use gsfinder, not the best looking but most functional and free
I use total commander, once again not great looking, but it is free and it is fast, also has a registry edit facitility
i like resco explorer 2010 the best IMO
but its for pay
after that total commander
File Explorer - For its ability to send via Bluetooth
GS Finder - Because it's touch friendly for general cut/copy/paste
Total Commander - For its registry editor
Yes I do use all three, every day

Yeah as in >File>Send To>Send via IR. - Doesn't work for me
I used GS Finder all the time on my Polaris and Diamond, but it just sticks in "searching" on the HD2, I assumed the HD2's different BT stack was the problem, unless it's my laptop's Linux BT.
Maybe I should boot XP to try it. Now then - where's my inhaler

Going off topic here. I assume this is the HD2's problem. All the .exes I have to toggle the bluetooth don't work with the HD2, they do nothing.
+1 for Resco Explorer. It's not free, but it's worth it.

Resco please,it looks good and is finger friendly. Plus Resco photo maneger (latest ver) is quiet nice.

To lazy to go to freewareppc.com and type in their names? Probably would work on google.com to. Yes I verified both were findable.
windows File explorer with fexploreext
and totalcommander for registry editing
total commander for me
Totaly Total Commander. File explorer, Registry editor, FTP browser all in one. What more could you ask for. You want it to be free? Oh okay. It's that too.
fexplorerext

It is light, can create and send shortcuts to pgm folder, shows hidden files and integrates with file explorer.
