7501 replacement keyboard?

Hey guys -
I just picked up one of these interesting devices at CompUSA's firesale, and it is in good condition, but for one thing - it seems like the KB was dropped and has a small dent. Now, it is totally cosmetic, but something I would like to eventually fix (cost permitting).
I have done some searching, but haven't found anything about a replacement part. Anyone have any experience with this?

I haven't seen one mention of a replacement keyboard, but replacement cases for the main unit are available online. Have you tried calling HTC?

i saw a replacement dopod k/b for 150 usd.. cant remember where, just came up through extensive googling for a replacement body

I agree, call HTC, they are usually pretty good about sorting out this sort of thing.

I saw your post and took a quick gander myself. I did find the Dopod version; only complaint is it is silver and not black..

Well, thanks for the advice guys, but THC was a no-go. I called both the general support number, and the warrenty/repair number given to me by support, and came up short both ways. They flat out said they don't sell the part alone, and that she (nice lady at least) did not know where i could look. I guess i may consider the dopod version as backup; thankfully, this is a fully usable unit even without the keyboard; I will just have to be careful as it could scratch my body; something I don't want...

Just out of curiosity, which store did you get it from?

for the amount a replacement will cost you might be as well to send back your cosmetically damaged one and buy a new athena elsewhere.

Many of us prefer to use the device without the keyboard. Some may be willing to sell it or swap with you for a reasonable price perhaps?

Ordering Parts for Hemes - d-pad

Has anyone had any success ordering parts from cellularDR.com? I am in Australia and am trying to order the d-pad keyboard, and placed one order which was rejected due to apparent mismatch in my delivery details in paypal and credit card, then placed the order directly with my visa card and was told not to place anymore orders as they would not ship to Australia yet Australia is a valid choice. Is this online shop a scam? Each time they have refunded my money which is ok.. but really need to get this part as i stuffed mine up badly.

cellular dr
Hey man I ordered the d pad keyboard labeled exterior keyboard or something and got it super fast, fixxed my whitescreen. Then i took it apart to tighten slider and the keyboard stopped working and I tracked it down to the cable. SO when i ordered the keyboard I realized that the cellular dr shop was right down the street from me in glendale ca. so I was there today and bought a new cable, they have a nice store and offer lots of phone data services and repair. I am super happy with them cause my phone works!!

Can you do me one really big favour.. As I am in Australia it's a bit hard for me to walk down to the store. Can you go ask them why the won't ship to Australia ?? Even though they offer it on their website they have told me they will not ship to my location. And i'm not in any remote location. I'm in the capital city. I can't find this part anywhere else unless i take the risk and buy a used phone.
Anyway thanks for letting me know they exist. At least i know now that they pick and choose who they want to sell to.

The Green call key on my TyTN front board is getting a bit dodgy....i took the device apart following the images Mikechannon showed me and it was fairly strightforward.
I think il probably need a new front board (just the bottom board for the front keys) at some point which is dead easy to remove and replace.

Magnetic stylus + ballpoint combo

Hmm.. looks like the thread about stylus/ballpoint that I posted a couple of days ago got deleted/rollbacked along with the server shuffle, so I'll post it again - basically I'm looking for a magnetic stylus that has ballpoint/pen. Someone posted a link earlier but there was some mix up as to whether its a ballpoint/stylus or simply a regular one.
I looked around the net and found some made by Styra or Songtak, but not whether those are magnetic. If they are not, wouldn't they fall off the phone? Any help on this is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I've been waiting for these to come on eBay, and yes, it's there now... you can get these for $5 max.... but they don't ship to Canada and i only need 1... can anyone buy these the package of 3 and share it with me?

I bought one of these when i ordered my video cable. Ive had it for months and i love it. I keep it in my shirt pocket at work so i can easily mess with my phone or write.

Its not magnetic though. I also had to gorilla glue the middle from pulling apart because it didnt stay together that well. but i love this pen now.

hey man, Thanks for the offer. I'll take it if you're getting them from eBay. the ideal price would be $3/each including shipping (that's the price I got for the stylus of my tilt)
But you have to be careful, the stylus of a Fuze is slightly different from a Touch Pro

I go one from ebay, the listing said 3X so I assumed there would be three of the stylus/pen units but there was only one! For $10 it is one expensive stylus!

maybe is 1 package of 3 stylus
that's what I got for the Tilt... but it's better if you check with the seller.

Buy 3 get 1 ... Is it a magnetic one by the way? I've been asking around, and discovered that most of them aren't. Wouldn't it fall off easily without the magnets?

i haven't got the chance, because i used my girlfriend's ebay account to order (she's from USA), and i dont have her password. =(

I complained after the package arrived and they sent me 2 more! AAA+++ for this seller, don't see that level of service on ebay much these days

Here is what I wrote:

They sent me a tracking number the next day along with a friendly email to let me know they were taking care of it!

I bought them and they are not magnetic and they fall right out of the Fuze.

anyone know where to get the stylus that comes with the Touch Pro? I lost mine none of them I have found seem to look like the OEM. I'm sure they work but I would like the OEM to replace it with.

[DISCUSSION] Warning regarding build quality (try before buy)

I got myself a Desire Z yesterday at Carphone Warehouse (UK) on a free upgrade. By chance I got them to open up a box marked BLACK and one marked SILVER, both handsets were identical in colour though.
Any way, fortunately I flipped them both open and noticed one had very stiff almost unpressable top row of buttons on the qwerty keyboard, whereas the other was perfect.
Anybody looking to get a Desire Z - do try to open the box in the shop and test the phone before buying.
First impressions by the way: the phone is awesome. Pleasure to use, especially going up from a SE Xperia Mini Pro. No lags, fast menus, high resolution. I have been using qwerty keyboard in bed with the phone facing down and the hinge has been no problem at all.

It seems so hit and miss with these htc phones, I am literally about to take my 4th DHD back and pick up a desire z due build quality issues. I just hope that this one is much better. I will heed your advice and give it a good going over although they told me they only have 1 in stock

Best advice is to test every single button, see that they press to your satisfaction. See that the back cover is not loose and the screen opening mechanism works nice and smooth. Turn it on to see if screen is good. Don't be shy about being fussy in the shop if something doesn't feel right because retailers in UK (like Carphone W) don't let you return the phone after purchase, once you take it home that's IT it's yours and there's a 14 day period of an exchange for same model I think if there's a fault.
This doesn't just apply to HTC phones, I would do this on any new phone I buy - did the same before buying my Xperia Mini Pro months back.
That's why personally not keen to buy phones online.

If you're in the UK buying from a UK online seller though, the Distance Selling regulations apply, and you have a period in which you can send the item back if you're not happy with it. Sure, there's a delay involved because of sending the item back, but you have a lot of protection.

Yes you are completely right, but for me personally I don't like 2 things about online mobile phone purchases: the long wait in case of returns/exchanges and the risk of replacement being faulty too.

HD2 Motherboard

Hello guys , my phone is getting freezed after some time of using (45 min) , the Tech's said that this is overheating of the motherboard
So any idea from where can i get new one?

You can find them usually on Ebay and Amazon. I would use what ever search provider (Google, Bing, Yahoo etc..) to do a search for "HTC HD2 motherboard". Pick out a site that has good site reviews if possible as well as good prices. A quick search yeilded dozens of sites that sold HD2 motherboards.

Are you saying you dropped the phone and now since its been dropped you have very slow load times?
Is you phone rooted with a custom sense rom?
Do you still have a warranty on the phone?

no the rom version is official and my phone warranty expired

So you noticed it after you dropped it?
Have you tried to turn off your phone and turn it back on? I know that seems kind of stupid but it does fix some small problems from time to time.
Sorry to say but there wouldn't be much you could do for it that i know of. The very best advice i could give you would be to open your own thread about your problem and put this infomation in there. This thread is about motherboards so you wont get as much help as of you opened your own. This way a lot more people will see this and with the more people that see's it maybe someone comes across it and has had that problem before and can offer a solution if one.

I'm not so sure. I can't find any myself, but it maybe a firewall problem or something. What I find is typically they are "Motherboard Flex Cable Ribbon". Can't find "motherboard" only. I've contacted some sites, but they say no motherboard/main board at all.
If you have come up with a "motherboard" only (at a reasonable price), please provide link. That would be very helpful as I'm after one as well.

You can find a HD2 from Amazon or Ebay that has a cracked screen or something along those lines thats still working and get the motherboard off that phone. when i did a search earlier i seen two sites but i'm unable to find them now. one site you had to be signed in so you might need an account but i'll try and find the other and report back.

$120 seems pretty high. As i said above, you can find a used model off ebay thats still working for the same price. Then you would have more parts you can use off that phone.
You really need to know what your doing during the install process though so if you dont, send it out to someone that does. I seen a phone with a cracked screen but that was
100% working order sell on ebay for $55 just yesterday. Plus if you have problems with the motherboard/phone you do buy off ebay you can always ask to return it. If they
wont accept a return you can then file a claim through ebay stating the phone/motherboard wasn't as described to have ebay force the seller to refund you the money once
you return it. In some cases you can even get a return shipping label emailed to you so you wont be charged the shipping back to the seller.

i have this phone since June - 2010 , and i always change the Roms , it's not a big deal for me...
i also found Ebay expensive , i thing Gadgetsaving is better .....
