Unable to "scrub" on AAC & HE-AACv2 - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

I know that this topic has been discussed a lot, but I want to explain my problem, which I think is different.
I have encoded a few files with dbPowerAmp & Nero AAC Encoder to the HE-AAC v2 format. Well, with TCPMP I can play them successfully (I have an "original" WM5 Universal).
The problem is that I'm not able to play them with any other software and I need something more "MP3-player-like" than TCPMP. Summarizing:
- WMP of course cannot neither see nor play files;
- Pocket Music with the AAC plugin crashes: I tried the demo version, PM asks for the registration of the AAC plugin and then suddenly crashes all times; the files are visible on the library but with wrong length (duration of the track);
- Conduits Pocket Player sees the files BUT with a wrong length (duration of the track); if I try to play a song, the sound is "cracky" and disturbed (on the contrary TCPMP plays perfectly!) and if you scrub (i.e. jump forward on time on the song) PP freezes.
So none of the software which claim to play AAC files works for me on Universal WM5. Have you got the same problem? Or am I missing something?
The files are encoded at 48kbps HE-AACv2; I also tried with "normal" AAC but the results are the same. Do anyone can explain me what's wrong? Why the incorrect song length?
TIA

Do anyone have the same issue? I don't need a solution, I would only know I'm not the only one with this problem...
Do you play AAC successfully on your mobile (with the correct file duration displayed and being able to "scrub")? With which software?

You need a AAC decoder for WMP. I was using that before and that worked but I can't remember now which decode filter I used or from where I got it.
You may google it...

Thank you for your answer. I really googled a lot, but withouth results.
I could only find:
AAC codec for Windows Media Player for Windows (NOT for Windows Mobile)
AAC decoder for TCPMP
AAC decoder for PocketMusic Player (which, as I said before, crashes)
But nothing for Windows Media Player for Windows Mobile 5. Can anyone help me or at least address me?
This issue is driving me crazy!

The best multimedia players!!!

Hi guys,
I'm looking for the best mm player for my Jam...
I'd like a player that:
- can works in background
- can play all the mm format (audio/video) such as: mp3, ogg, mpeg, avi,wma divx ecc...
- the player have to stop when I'll receive a call or text and then play again
- the player have to don't use the standard configuration fot the power management (es: I configure my Jam to shutdown after 3min. but if I play mp3 I don't want this!)
The Win media player 10 it's very nice for example but how can i add the plugin fro divx, ogg and all the other fromat?
Any other mm player application?
try this
Think TCPMP is the best.
http://cc.serveftp.org:8884/tcpmp/modules/news/
I think that Betaplayer and TCPMP are the same now
Yeah, TCMP is the newer version of Betaplayer. Dunno why they renamed it, but oh well. Whaever floats their boat!
A good music player is MortPlayer. A good video player is the already mentioned TCPMP. You can also find plugins for the WM to play Divx movies and so on but I would recommend the above combination.
Man, except for TCPMP (aka BETAPLAYER), there aren't any mediaplayers that support all those features...
is there a way to play AAC file (ipod) with WMP 10
I'd like to find a player that can play AAC file (ipod).
I tried Nero ShowTime Mobile which is good but doesn't stop correctly when you get a phone call
Is there a way to play AAC file with WMP10?
Hi guys!
I tried TCPMP and it's really nice but...
I'd like the player in "pause" when I receive an incomming call and with TCPMP I can't find the option to configure it... seems to continue to play but with no sound.
How does it works?
Talking about TCPMP.
A fiend of mine gave me an MP4 movie file which he had on his PSP.
I figured as TCPMP plays MP4's it would be as simple as transferring it onto my device and playing via TCPMP.
It works in the sense that i get great video, but there is no audio.
I get the following message at the beginning:
AUDIO CODEC (MPEG4 AAC AUDIO) Not supported by the player. Decoder was removed from the official install package.
Is there anything I can do to resolve the audio with this player. Or should I use another player?
That problem would be fixed if you had the same codec that Namelous is after (3 posts up). TCPMP comes with the MP4 video decoder, but need the AAC audio decoder to run, as most MPEG-style movies are encoded with separate video and audio. If you were to rip a movie to your hard drive from a dvd to Mpeg 2, more often than not you'd have audio encoded in MP3, so you'd need both the Mpeg 2 and MP3 codecs on your system.
Good luck finding an AAC codec for PPC. If you do, please let me know as I've been looking too!
What about Soundexplorer? (obviously not for video...). It also records sound (much players don't). I like it very much.
Looks like PocketMusic has an AAC plugin.
Haven't tried this program yet, but would love feedback if anyone does (like does it pause music on an incoming call, how is the equilizer, bass boost, overall usability, etc.?)
Thanks in advance!

Okay, I went ahead and downloaded the trial version on my MDA Pro and like it a lot! Doesn't play movies of course, but the equilizer is pretty good, and it pauses your tunes on incoming calls. Other features like mapping to the hardware buttons, big finger-sized screen buttons, skins, cross-fading, and an alarm clock make it nice.
AAC Plugin...

mp4 files from v-mate - Windows Media 10 and TCMP AAC issue

I have just bought a v-mate from Scandisk.
http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Item(2171)-SDVM1-A-SanDisk_VMate_Video_Memory_Card_Recorder_.aspx
This device creates mp4 files from TV (etc) input on to an SD disk which in theory can be played directly on any mp4 player.
However, having created the files tonight I can't get them to play properly on either Windows Media 10 for PC Mobile or TCPMP on my Universal.
If I open with Windows Media Player 10 Mobile for Pocket PC. It just plays the audio and not the video.
If I try and open it with TCPMP (0.72RC1) I get the following error message:
"Player: MPEG4 AAC Audio decoder not included! It was removed from the package because of intellectual property considerations". If I get rid of this message and tap 'play' it then plays the video file such that the video is fine but there is no sound.
It plays other MP4 files fine (eg ones I have made with the camera itself).
Clearly the file has audio and video information, but neither WMP 10 for mobile or TCPMP can play both. I suspect this is not a v-mate issue but rather something about WMP 10 or TCPMP.
Any suggestions guys? I have looked on the forums but can't see anything on this.
just install plugins (will install the right codecs in thecoreplayer)
i play mp4 psp movies with them on my universal (works great )
Result!
Cheers Mate, worked first time - I am sure it's all obvious to you and other experienced users, but this has sorted me out splendidly.
I had the same issue with TCPMP not playing the MP4 files, got the same message saying the decoder was removed from the application. Loaded the two CAB files that were posted but still get the same message. Do I have to change anything in TCPMP to use the plugins for MP4 files?

Which version of TCPMP do you use?
Try de-installing and installing.
Or even better
Try "Coreplayer" (this is the newest from tcpmp)
but sadly enough not free
(with a little search you can find reg/fix)

Divx Player Mobile: No Sound

Hi,
I've installed divx player mobile. When I play a movie file I do'nt have any sound, just the picture. The audio codec is
mpeg 1 or 2 Audio layer 3 (mp3)
channels: 2
sample rate: 48.000 Hz
Bitrate 124 kbps
Is this audio codec not supported? Is there a way to install different codecs? Is there a better video player for divx/xvid files?
Thank you for your help.
use CorePlayer
Coreplayer seems to be an great application. But it costs $30. Is there any freeware? Or is there a way to get divx player to work?

Thanks gingo
no codec
I have the coreplayer, and when I try to play the .avi file it gives me an error box saying that it needs an AC-3 codec wich is not supported by the player(the same happens in DivX). Is there a way to download the codec, or do you guys recommend another player?
Hallo, I have the same problem with divx player on my HD2. No sound when playing avi files. I have TCPMP installed on there is error: Unexpected program failure. Please send "crash.txt" to the developers. Programm will now exit.
I don't know what to do now.
Previously I had Samsung I780 with WM 6.5 Pro and divix player was working fine. What can be wrobg with this one. The same software as my previous phone but not working.

No .avi files playable?

Hi,
I have some .avi files on my Leo, but can't play them with standard Windows Media Player Portable. HTC player doesn't even show the files in the album view, so I can't add them to playlist.
Isn't Leo supposed to play .avi files? (Leo with WM6.5 and 1.48 ROM. Files on 16 GB FAT32 storage card.)
Properties of one avi file (for example):
350 MB
640 x 480 pixel
data rate: 996 kBit/s
total bit rate: 1122 kBit/s
25 fps
2 channel stereo sound
48 kHz, 126 kBit/s
Can someone help?
Thanks!

PS: If I convert the files to .mp4 with a program on my PC, Leo does play them. But I don't want to convert every single file (about 20 min. each)... Please help!
You need a different player to play avi files.
Try the suggestion in this post, particularly paying attention to the settings.

Hope this helps
Wow, thanks for that fast reply!
I tried TCPMP before. And got some sort for error, player wouldn't even start. However, I tried the version you suggest again. The avi video isn't played properly (mostly just a green screen, artifacts...), the GUI doesn't show up correctly and after closing the player my Leo crashes (softreset).
Any other suggestions?
(BTW: Isn't there a solution without having to install a new player? Like an update or registry edit for the Windows Media Player? Afterall Leo should support avi files natively...
Thanks!!

You're welcome
Did you check the settings, as per that post that I linked you to? They work perfect for me, and the problems you described suggest that you didn't. Change the settings and then close the player. When you open it again it should play fine. (You need a succesful close to save the settings changes, which is why I suggest this.)

I'm afraid not - there's no native support for avi files (well, there may be for some encoding formats, or for raw avi files, but most avi files are encoded in a manner that requires you to have codecs installed on a PC to play, and obviously that's not windows mobile. Installing TCPMP means that you have a player with relevant codecs.)
Hope this helps
AVI is just the container, depends on what that AVI was encoded with as to WMP playing it or not...
TCPMP / Core player are very good players if set up properly.
Thanks to you guys!!
TCPMP is now working. Great! However, there is still one bug. Buttons next to "file" and "options" are not visible (eg. play, pause, next ..). They become visible for a slip second when I click them, but... Anyone knows a way around?
Thanks,

[Q] How to play mpeg

Hi,
I have a HD2, and I just realized that I cannot play mpeg movies with the integrated Windows Media Player. I have done some research and I installed TCPMP 0.72RC1 with aac codec, but it does not seem to work.
Can someone explain what I should do to play mpeg movies?
PS: I searched a little more and I found this link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=631061&highlight=TCPMP
Both of these versions seem to work, but the buttons "Start, Pause, etc." in the center botton area are not visible... Maybe, it's only me.. Anyway, they work..

the Windows Media player included with the phone can play MP3/4 files just fine. Are you sure that you are using the right profile?
I have encoded 300+ movies that I have on DVD and the HD2 plays them just fine with an average bit rate it 2mbps
