Upgrade to WM6 for the BA, but when there is an incoming sms the device won't notify and LED light no indication at all when the device in standby mode. after wake up the device then i can see there is new sms there. anyone can help ???
same problem here.. not even a sound to know of an incoming sms...
Yep, I get the same thing.
No red light, no sound, nothing. Then I wake it from sleep, and the message appears with sound and led.
Very annoying.

Use some app which replaces the SMS notification with its own for example freeware SmileySMS - you can find it in the Development and Hacking section of this forum.
i've already test with my XDA IIs and it work fine, when i receive sms in standy mode, i still receive notification by red light, sound notification, and vibrate.
It seems to be random with mine...sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
hi.. the problem of flash red l ight and sond cant be corrected on "sound and notifications"
for sms work fine (inclusive on sleep mode) you must let the messaging program run on memory on the ba. if you close the program, you could not for mose times recive sms . this issue is on wm5 to..

I had the same issue, and I managed to solve it by going to Sounds & Notifications->Notifications
Select Event: Messaging: New text message
disabled "Play sound", pressed OK
enabled again "Play sound", pressed OK (I also enabled Vibrate)
Don't know if it was because of this, but it is working now (Made reset and it still works).

Sorry to hear that. As I said, I don't know if it was that (try different enabled/disabled combinations for Messaging: New text message maybe?).
I also installed WM6_SoundFix_.cab from the AddOn.rar file.
I think this trick worked for me too... But when the BA is on sleep mode.. the alert will only trigger on the second incoming SMS. I have tried this several times.

I am not sure if the notification tone will cause this problem. I try alarm5 (which is in ROM), it works. With other tones, sometimes it only sound halfway. Also, the text messaging program must be running in background.
If you switch off BA when the screen is in text messaging, it will sound on incoming sms, but LED not red.
u need enabled this in "Sound&Notification-New text message-flash light". Red led work, no problem

i just installed SecretSMS and i think it helps me with this SMS notification probelm tho not completely. It manages to play the sms notification but doesn't show up the screen.. well i think it's better than nothing, right?
however, anyone know how to set rules for SecretSMS? i try to find a manual, but, ... not found - -~

Is there any way to have the display turn on automatically when you get an sms message and to have the sms message displayed by default?
Same on Diamond
The Diamond works the same way the Touch HD. Maybe one of the tools their (I don't remember the name exactly) could help you to activate the SMS notification. What you'll have is you'll the SMS with the Windows notif, not in Manila.

I think you need to do a Registry edit.
Go here:
HKLM>Drivers>Built In>RIL
select the value 'DisableSMSWakeUpEvent'
change the '1' to a '0' and soft reset.
Should work! (Hopefully)
Hello there, back to XDA after using Nokia for more than a year. I bought today my HTC TOUCH HD, everything was fine until i noticed that i got 5 sms without any notification. I tried to send sms to my HTC and suprisingly i get no notification although i set everything correcting in the Text message notification in settings.( flash , vibrate , tone ). Please i need help as i feel not going to keep using it if no solution can be found.

i guess that something is freaked up somewhere. Hard reset and eventually reflashing ? do you actually HAVE the sim available? like making calls and everything
btw: the correct setting in the notifications window is not Messaging: new message, is messaging: new TEXT message.
Never Mind i got it working using some registry tweaks.
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL : DisableSMSWakeUpEvent <--set to "1" by default. Change value to "0"

I can call and do everything, but I can't send sms.
My warranty has expired.
You lost your touchscreen or what? I think we cant do that. You can write your message, but you still have touch you screen to send it.
you could map any hardware key to the left and right softkeys (say the mail and the Internet hardware buttons). Do a search for hardware key mapping applications such as AEButton Plus. Just an idea. Hope this helps.

try it with the navigation buttons or button green phone symbol..!!! Good Luck
Hi to all, My question is is their a way to send a message when texting by pressing a key or enter ? I use a bluetooth keyboard and would like to just press enter to send my text message. Instead of having to touch the icon on screen .
