Can you make the XDA II talk to other devices via USB?

I've got a fuel map device on my motorbike, that via a pc allows you to change all the mapping.
Thats great if you've got a laptop, as you can just plug that into the bike and away you go.
I have no laptop, but do have the XDA II, so was wondering if i could connect this to the unit? The unit runs straight off a USB and requires no power.
Only other thing is would i be able to get the program to work on the pocket pc OS? It runs fine on windows. Is there any form of soft windows on the XDA II that would emulate the full windows os to allow me to run this prog.
Cheers
If you could get a serial version of the cable to plug into the motorcycle then it would be quite easy to make a serial adaptor for the pocket pc, does the motorcycle use a similar systen to OBD2 diagnostics.
yeah the place well one of the places where firewire is better then usb is that usb needs 1 master and X devices
and the xda1 and 2 are devices only
firewire all can be masters
The bike has a dynojet powercommander USB, so only USB. Sounds like the XDA II won't link up, damn. That would have been great being able to change the maps with the XDA II as its very portable and you could change whilst out on a run very easily.
well maybe if you get the backpack and then get the CF card usb card
maybe it will work as master welll i would asume it would or there would be little cause for the product to exist
Yes, this is right. The XDA2 won't function as a USB host. You do need that backpack and a www.ratocsystems.com host card. Then it will work.
I know this becuase I'm trying to link mine up to a HDD to store loads of music in my car and use the PPC as a controller but I don't want the confounded backpack - for you though on the motorbike, only using it when you need it it sounds perfect.

External Diplay ??

Question:
Is it possible to connect my iMate to an external display?
Have a nice 7'' display in my car and i really like to see my iMate on it when i am using my GPS or contacts.
Any suggestion?
Edit/Delete Message
I had that same idea long ago but since the Magician's USB port does not support hosting then it is not possible. The other possibility would have been if some electronic expert would find a way to make a VGA connection/output.
found this.

the sd slot is going to be busy with the card but where to put my gps maps then?

Trinity/DoPod Issues

Anyone-Please try to help me with these issues:
1. When the unit is in STBY (no screen output) and i connect any USB cable the PDA "wakes-up" and if connected to a PC will start doing a Sync, is there anyway to stop the "wake-up" when connecting a USB cable (-or installing Mini-SD card).......all i want to do is charge the unit while it's in STBY mode. In my old Mio 168RS this could be done in Settings. Maybe someone has a small application that can do this?
2. Sometimes when i innitiate Active Sync i get this Error "To Sync this device you must install ActiveSync 4.0 or higher on your Desktop computer"....but actually i'm running ActiveSync 4.5 already on my PC!!??
Then i need to remove the ActiveSync from my PC and re-install it again until the next time.
Not in stb mode you can switch off the 3600 it still charging etc. only it is off
I don't know if this could help because I never tried it. However, I tried to disable the usb connection from Active Sync for other purposes. In Active Sync program, you can actuallly choose to turn off the usb detection (which can be turned back on anytime). That way, Active Sync will not automatically update your device, hence, turning your device on. In that case, you can just plug in your device for charging purpose.
Thanks for your inputs but this is not what i'm looking for.
In my old Mio168RS there was the possibility in "Settings" that the unit did not come out of STBY mode when connecting to a USB input or when inserting an external SD card.
By the way turning the unit "OFF" will also turn off the phone!!
One additional question that someone might be able to help is if there any way to increase the Speaker Phone volume above and beyond what can be done within the settings.???

Help with accessing files on Polaris

Hello everyone, I have a couple of questions to ask all of you great phone gurus
**If this is the wrong forum for this sort of thread, I apologize in advance**
Basically I have ruined the USB connection on my Touch Cruise. I am wanting to know if there is any way I can access my files on the phone by having it connected to my wireless network at home (ie a program or something I can run on my PC.) Reason I ask is I am trying to edit the HTC weather Plugin to show my location (Lebanon, OH, USA) and it is quite hard/impossible to do using the phone alone.
Second question is, is it possible to replace a damaged USB connector? I know it is probably ruined but I figure it might be worth a try. I had attempted to hook up my front USB header on my motherboard, but plugged them in backwards. I managed to salvage the phone by removing the actual USB piece from the phone and pulling the wires out. Luckily I am still able to use the phone (nothing else besides the USB connector is messed up) by purchasing an external battery charger + battery.
I know these are probably both a shot in the dark but any help anyone could provide would be GREATLY appreciated.
You can sync via bluetooth if you have it on your computer, or wifi search in google for that (ex: http://wifi.aximsite.com/sync.html)
I tought replace it will be very hard .
just out of curiosity could you please give us some screenshots as i'm having a real hard time understanding what you did and how it looks now? ^^
using bluetooth will help and maybe a card reader + microSD might speed things up. find a good file manager for WinMO
i doubt that there is any way to acces phones files through wireles so bluetooth is the only wireless (and supported) way
I don't have a camera currently but just look at your USB connection on your phone then imagine that there is absolutely nothing in it. It is just an empty 'rectangle'. No wires or the little horizontal piece that normally sits in there. Just an empty 'rectangle.'
Thanks for the replies. I am trying the wireless sync now.
Thanks a bunch

Help with Android setting for Internet Connectivity

I am desperately seeking help......
I have just fitted a brand new Android 11 based head unit to my wife's car and I am having one issue in particular that is creating a lot of angst. My wife is not tech savvy and would simply like to jump in her car, start it up and have everything work inlcuding playing her favorite radio apps. I can have this work for her perfectly via Bluetooth Tethering when a toggle under ANDROID SETTINGS - CONNECTED DEVICES - PHONE - INTERNET ACCESS is switched on. However, this toggle reverts to off everytime the car is switched off and needs to be manually switched on eveyrtime to restore functionality. The unit supports wired Android Auto, but even then my wife does not want to pull the phone out of her bag everytime and plug/unplug. Is there any way the unit can remember the last setting or have it default to on? I have tried Macdroid app, but it does not offer this specific action. I have attached an image of the setting in question along with the specs of the head unit. Wifes phone is a Samsung Galaxy A52 runing Android 11. Help me save my marriage!

Hi, if unit has SD cards and USB drives in multimedia ports remove them first, then tweek settings again and then save settings (device will write in internal device memory) by shutting down device (remove key / shut down engine).
Repeat procedure if first time is not saved in internal memory (without SD cards or USB in ports).
After bootup again it will eventually write in internal memory and save settings.

Thanks for your reply, however there are no SD cards or USB drives. There does not also appear to be an option to 'save" settings.
It "saves" by it self when you turn device off (or remove key from contact). As for USB or cards, ok, you probably have master setings/factory settings in there that is entered with a pin code, do you know how to enter it ?
(thru infotainment)
We will go one step at a time.

Thanks very much for your reply! When I toggle the switch to on, it does not retain that setting when I turn car off and remove the key. I do have the passcode to get into the factory settings of the HU, but I have had a good look and cannot identify any setting which relates to my issue, that's not to say it doesnt exist.
Take a picture of your device factory settings please, or maybe it's better to record a small video.

Is this what you were after? Apologies if I misread your message.
Yes, let me see where can we find memory issues
Most likely it is in APP SETTINGS menu.
Play with settings untill you find correct setting, it will not harm device in any way, but prior to changing anything take a photo of each settings menu to avoid unpleasent changes that lead to app and config problems.
