hi all. I already Unlock the Bootloader, I flash the Amon Ra 1.5.3, it works. I made the Nandroid backup, then after reboot it doesn't work. is going to original recovery (see triangle with exclamation mark in the middle). what can I do? I was trying several times but same results. Amon Ra recovery is working only until reboot... What I have done wrong? thanks in advance
You have to flash a ROM after flashing the Recovery for the Recovery to stick, if the same principle from the G1 transfers over to the N1... ie, flash Recovery, boot into it, flash a ROM, you are good to go.
I mean. it will not remain if I will not flash a custom rom?
Are you flashing from sd or fastboot?
from fast boot. i was following the steps from http://androidcommunity.com/forums/...ing-amon-ras-recovery-on-the-nexus-one-30499/.
A nandroid backup does not have the proper permissions/formatting for your system to boot.
You need to nandroid
then fastboot flash boot boot.img, etc
DELETE......
wow way for them to steal my outdated tutorial..... bastards

Have you already flashed (through OTA or manually) the last update released by google? If yes you need to delete (you must be root for this) the install-recovery.sh you find in /system/etc:
Code:
adb shell
cd system
cd etc
rm install-recovery.sh
By deleting this file I solved this problem of having to reflash the recovery after each rom reboot
ok. so, finally, someone can post one link or a explicit tutorial about how to install this recovery? at least one link would be good enough.. ... thanks

easist recovery can be tricky
do u have SDK?
Yes, I have.... usualy I go in recoveryy mode from "ADB reboot booloader recovery"..
Think i should write a recovery flashing tutorial?
Hello,
I've flashed the Ginger Yoshi 5.1 on my phone but I didn't like it and wanted to switch back to RC4.
I tried restoring my RC4 Nandroid backup via Amon Ra's recovery but it failed with the following message: "could not do nandroid-mobile.sh" (or something like that).
I decided then to wipe the system and the cache and do a clean flash of the RC4.
Unfortunately, I'm stuck in the splash screen.
I have the latest radio and the unlocked xxx.xxx0013d SPL.
I can access to fastboot.
Is there a way to boot through Amon Ra's Recovery ?
Thank you guys
Never mind, I found the solution.
You can boot into Recovery mode while pressing HOME + OFF
Reflashing right now !
Whipe
Hey maybe its smart to do a superwhipe i do the superwhipe, you can download en read more about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834812
it works for me just put the config and the superwipe in the root of youre sd, and flash the superwipe twice, and than youre rc5 gingerrom.
I'm pretty new to this sort of phone's i got my 32b like 3 days
Hope this could help ya...
Thank you for your reply,
Anyway, it's working fine with another wipe. But I'll download Ohsaka's Superwipe if the problem comes back...
Yet basically I wanted to restore my nandroid backup. How can I do this without having a fail ? I have renamed the backup, but I'm sure it's not corrupted...
Thanks !

It probably doesn't like what you renamed it to. Try renaming it again to something like "AAA".

the way i fixed this problem was i did a full wipe rebooted recovery and loaded my backup fine no more error lol
hope it helps
Yesterday, I rooted my wildfire and installed my first custom rom, CM7. Today, I noticed the gps bug so I followed the instructions here
But when I tried to restore the nandroid backup of my stock rom from yesterday, I got a md5 mismatch error and then I tried to restore the nandroid backup that I'd created only moments before (backup of CM7 rom) which also failed because of an md5 mismatch.
So both of my nandroid backups won't restore because of an md5 mismatch (I touched neither backup, both were in the clockworkmod folder where they were originally created) and now I've had to load a fresh copy of CM7.
Why is this and how can I restore them?
Have you renamed the folder name of nandroid backup folder (which will be in date and time normally). If yes, then again rename in such a way that there will be no spaces in the folder name. Either remove the spaces or fill them with some characters. It may solve the md5 sum error.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
The backups are stored like this:
E:\clockworkmod\backup\2011-07-11.14.07.01
no spaces anywhere
anything else that could be causing the error?
No idea. Sorry !

Has anyone else had this problem before?
What I'm more worried about is that both the nandroid backups that I've done so far have this problem and I have a feeling that the 3rd and 4th... will have the same problem.
Should have really checked that the backup worked before installing a new rom, thought nandroid backups were bulletproof!
Solution is here:

Although I *Think* you can directly use Fastboot as well to flash the data.img, boot.img and system.img, without going through the Nandroid Restore Process (Inspite of the Md5 Mismatch error), it's something I have been vying to test personally but still havent been able to do so.

Thanks I'll give that a try.
You seem to be very knowledgeable about this sort of stuff!
I've heard of adb and fastboot but how do I use them?
Also, would you know where I could get clockwork recovery v3.1.0.2? I've looked at your referance thread (which is amazing) but that just links to v4.0.0.5 (which is what I'm on now)

Yes, arco originally had v3.1.0.2 on that thread, which he updated to v4.0.0.5, removing the previous one.
You can get 3.1.0.2 here:
http://www.multiupload.com/UQGXAGLCJ2
A short how-to for using Fastboot is posted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14693680
Fastboot is an amazing thing to have, because you can push stuff like Recoveries, Nandroid Backups etc in just 1 step, using your PC, without any hassles. If you dont get what is stated in the thread, ask me, I'll help you out.
If I use fastboot (as in the how to guide) to flash v3.1.0.2, will it just overwrite my current v4.0.0.5 or do I need to remove v4.0.0.5 first. My phone was rooted using unrevoked if that matters.
Also can a nandroid backup of a sense rom be restored in clockwork recovery v3/v4?
Thanks for all your help, you've been great
- You haven't S-OFF'ed using AlphaRev X? In that case, all this stuff isn't applicable to your device, unfortunately. Because, Fastboot needs S-OFF using AlphaRev X.
- You can overwrite Recoveries. You need not remove your old one, it will still work fine. (Even if you use Unrevoked to flash Recoveries)
- As for Nandroid Restores, it doesn't matter if it is a Sense based ROM or not, you should be able to restore it, even on CWMv3/4
No, I didn't use alpharev x, still on hboot 0.80 so I rooted with unrevoked.
So should I run unrevoked again to flash a new recovery?
Yes, and select Custom Recovery from the "File" Menu, and select the New Recovery's .img file. Also, as far as possible, use an older version of Unrevoked to maximize compatibility, like 3.14
I know to use one of the earlier versions thanks to your help here
I really appriciate all your help, now I know how to root, flash new roms and radios and use adb (a little)
Just a follow up for anyone else with the same problem.
The solution in post 6 works and solves the problem. I don't know why nandroid creates separate md5 files and then wants all the md5's in one file when restoring.
You can actually manually do it, and maybe get that backup fixed. Go to the backup folder /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/*rom name (date and time usually)/
See if there is a nandroid.md5 file in there. If so, delete it, you can back it up if you want but it is busted so no point.
Next step to open adb shell or terminal emulator and type:
Code:
su
cd /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/*rom name (date and time usually)/
md5sum *img > nandroid.md5
reboot recovery
Give it a bit of time, before you reboot into recovery, if I remember it takes it a little while to perform it. Maybe it will sort your problem though
It really works
feeeeeeeeeeek
While giving Android 4.2 a try. I decided to switch recoveries from CM to TWRP and lost my backup. Problem is now I can go into recovery, but have no backup or roms to load. Yes I made the noob mistake of clearing everything to install backup and now there is nothing to install rom or backup wise. There is no "0" folder or anything. All I can do is boot into recovery mode. Also, tried to do a factory image restore and just ran into a bunch of problems. Just really confused and have been at this for hours. Now I'm just lost. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, thank you!
Please excuse my moment of insanity, got it all figured out! Sorry to have wasted space in this forum with such a lop sided cry for help.
What did you do, I ended up doing the same thing.
Tonight.... You
From fastboot :
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Reboot into recovery and flash rom of choice
Fastboot is bar far my favorite tool in the sdk as it has been a lifesaver dating back to the good ol g1 days. I suggest reading a few tutorials on it. Can't remeber but I think one I made is linked in my signature, if not its under my posts

I am getting a secure booting error. I can boot in TWRP but when I connect to my computer and type ADB devices, none are listed. Everything was working earlier because I just rooted the phone today. I have no backup and am trying to sideload a stock ROM. For reference, I am following this guide for sideloading. When I get to step 7, I get "system cannot find path specified". Thanks for the help.
