1. I realized that oftentimes I can not receive phone calls!!! the phone was ringing on the other side but I couldn't see anything on my phone...
I also called myself from home...and my phone was definitely ringing!!! and I could hear it's noise on my home phone..!!!! but nothing on my Jade!!!
also people told me that they sent me sms ...and got the delivery report...but nothing on my phone!!!
After I removed my SPB SHELL 3.0...everything is back to normal...
then again .... I updated my ROM to the latest...and I again installed spb shell 3.0... and again i couldn't receive 50% of the calls!!!!!
2. nowadays that I don't have SPB SHELL 3.0 my battery life is very good...
with SPB SHELL I had to charge everyday... better to say every 16 hours!!!:-& ( if i was lucky )
but now I can have my device working for 3 to 4 days...!!!
my questions :
1. anybody has the same issue?
2. any other software like spb shell...because i really loved the way my phone looked with spb shell!!!
thank you in advance for your reply
The same here, although I lıke MS very much, I can not use due to excesive battery consuming.
I had some issues of freezing as well, but I installed the beta upgrade and now alls good. Battery seems ok now to after few soft resets.
suspicious!
the battery problem with SPB SHELL really S...!
now I can use my device for 3 4 days ( without SPB SHELL )
I am also suspicious that ESET NOD32 antivirus did the recieve call problem!!!!
Does anybody know a good antivirus for wm? ( free is better )
I get about 2 days with shell, which doesnt seem alot different to what i was getting with out shell.

Just want you guys to know that with my SPB MS 3 (version 3.0.0 Build 6411) my battery last for 7 days. Sometimes 6 when I make a lot of calls or play a lot of games.
7 days is pretty impressive!
I live in a fringe area where the phone is always searching for service, dont think that helps battery life. Also run bluetooth most of the time, to lazy to turn it on and off when i get in the car
I've always got Wifi and BlueTooth turned OFF.
I guess I'v always got a great signal (4 bars and sometimes H (for HSDPA))
I.m running WM6.1 (5.2.20765 Build 20765.1.4.4) witch came with this dutch rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=496404
Also nice to know that I almost never use my GPS, this will chance when I install my Brodit holder in my car. But then I can always charge when driving.
bad news again...
I installed it for one of my friends....on HTC TOUCH HD....
and again he complained about battery usage....
I myself had full signal..... but couldn't receive...
the phone was ringing on the other side and my phone was receiving the signal...( because if it was near Monitor , speaker etc i could see or hear the vibration because of the interference ) but it didn't show me that somebody is calling me!!!
Isn't it ROM related??? I have Arabic Rom....
I don't like Arabic ROM! but I need it because I receive some Persian sms ( from bank and operator ) that I can not read them without Arabic ROM!
Did a bit of a battery test.
Uninstalled spb and did a hard reset, used the phone as normal taking note of battery usage. Then reinstalled spb and its lasted the same amount of time give or take an hour either way!
i cant recieve sms from other countries anymore, now thinking of it it started around the time when i installed my spb... so an upgrade can fix this?

Well,
Aside of the comatose battery life that this device has, to which one gets used after a while, now I had something new happening! While whatching the device on a table during a meeting, I was suprised to see it turn on by itself! NO, No alarms, or incomming calls, task reminders or the like. It just went on, and back off after the time set on the battery settings! I checked the settings, soft reset the device, and nothing. It seems to turn on and off every 3 to 5 minutes! This will cause battery life to drain even faster! Does anyone have a clue????
Cheers

Probably it is a issue with ActiveSync on your pocket pc.
Try to have a look into ActiveSynch menu:START-Activesync-options and change Mobile schedule,etc..
Regards,
Ser
Thanks, but I already tried this. I even disabled all synching and nothing seems to solve this issue! It is anoying as it drains battery even faster ! Any other suggestion ?
join the club mate if you look around youll see a fairly big thread about it and btw its nothing to do with activesync its the phone itself lol

Do you have Spb Pocket Plus installed? If so, check the version. I had version 2.0 build 1178 installed and I noticed that my XDA II would just power on by itself every so often. It got to the point that the battery was being drained very fast for the PDA to be useful for a day. I also noticed that an entry is added in the notification database every so often. It has an application name of PlusReminder.exe.
I sent a technical query to Spb and they advised me to download the latest copy of Pocket Plus. I did. I now have version 2.0 build 1184 installed, and now, the notification database problem is gone. Also, even though the device still turns itself on once in a while, it's no longer as bad as before. It's back to being useful again as the battery can now last for a day.
Hope this helps.
I checked everything I had installed. Almost no 3rd party software other than Staralliance timetable, and pocket TV. No SBP or any other software mentioned on the threads to be causng any trouble. I then went over every single move I made over the past 3 days trying to remember what I had changed... Tadaaaa!!! I forgot I run spritesoftware's Sprite BackUP, which by the way I highly recommend! I had set the battery monitor to back up automatically when the battery reaches the 30% treshold. Indeed, the momet I UNchecked that option, it stopped!!!!
Hi guys! This is my first post so i will introduce myself. I am Pawel from Poland Enough for now.
I just bouhgt NIKE for my wife. This is her (and mine) first WM touch device. It has Orange version of WM 6.0. Now few questions...
Is there 6.1 WM with Polish? I could not find any. Or is it possible to upload some english 6.1 ROM and then upload only language pack (i am doing this now with my motorola maxx and previously with siemens SX1 - symbian device)?
Also can you sugest me most stable and without any extra apps ROM (that will work really fast)? My wife wont use this phone for anything beside making calls, sms/mms, listening to music and maybe for movies from time to time (during longer travels via train or bus). So no need for some uber software. Of course office mobile must be there too - she needs to know when train goes! And as you know - for student possibility to use docs, ppt or excel at any given time is priceless
Cheers!
I recommend slowing down and just using the phone as is for the time being - you won't know what you need out of a ROM until you know what's wrong with the current one, if indeed, anything is wrong with it for you.
Having said that, if it's only going to be used for sending texts and making calls, I would not bother messing with the ROM at all. As good as most of the chefs are, I always find there is something wrong with every single one I've tried on various devices. Sometimes, it's only a minor thing they forgot, sometimes, it's a big thing they forgot.
Either way, your wife will probably get tired of you constantly messing with her phone - just like mine does ;-)
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Maybe you are right So far we have noticed lack of proper alarm clock app... Free AlarmClock 0.0.4 and voila Also Solitaire is in action now... After few days of really extensive use of Dual i can say one thing - all infos about how often it crashes, hangs, drops calls etc is bu****it. We didnt noticed one single bad thing in funcionality of Nike. And by extensive use i mean morning charge and evening - 10% juice left (tops)
And how long battery lasts when you use it like normall phone (dont play with it for hours )? Overnight it dropped like 6 or 7%... So it should stay at least 4-5 days i believe (during daytime there are incoming/outgoing calls so more juice is drained)? Of course by calls i mean few minutes/day. Not few hours daily.
I think my Nike lasts about 2 days if I'm just texting and the odd calls throughout the days.
Hi, I'm new in this forum, and I don't speack English well, so I want to excuse me!
I have the new Touch HD, at the beginning I changed immediately the original ROM with a new one, I installed a lot of programs, and everything woked very well for two weeks, but then I had a big problems with battery...a the first the battery was very good, -10/15% per day, but suddenly after two weeks the battery lose 1% of its charge every 2/5 mintes...if I disconnect the power when the battery is 100%, after one hour without use (and also without wifi, BT and GPS), I have 70% of charge!
I try to change the ROM, a friend suggested me a new upgrade for Radio, but I didn't resolve my problem!
Now I buy a new battery online in htcstore, but if I put my mobile in "Fly mode" the battery work very very good!
I want to say that here normally I have the signal indicator with 2/3 nicks, so the signal is good!
Someone can help me?...someone have my same problem?
Thank you so much fo everything!
Greetings, Eddy
the battery will be used up quickly if your fone is constantly searching in and out for a 3g signal, regardless of 2g signal strength
have you got wifi on?
bluetooth?
a gps app running?
what other apps do you have running in background? some really poll the cpu a lot and will lead to battery drain
other than a dodgy battery, it must be some software running that is using up the battery
Thank you for aswering!
In background normally I have SMS o Contacs, but also if I close every programs in background the battery doesn't work well!
No, Bluetooth is OFF, GPS and WI-FI are OFF, I use telephone just with gsm!
Also when I write message, normally I write a message so long (3/4 messages), after wirting, the battery lost 10%, and I didn't have this problems at the biginning!
I left my mobile on also during the night, and in the morning I had again 100% of charge...now 100% it's a far dream!
try turning off the autoadjust for the screen and setting it at a medium setting, also make sure the backlight turns off after a minute or less.
its a huge screen and will burn up power, although saying that i watched a full length film on my HD the other day and only used 20% in 1.5hrs
if no progs are running in the background and its not a display issue (how have you checked whats running btw? need more than just WM taskmanager, try mem maid or similar) and the problem is not there when in flight mode. then i can only assume its the rom you are using, try another with a different radio rom in it
i found roms with 1.10 radio to be better than 1.09. try this rom (mulitlanguage) works good for me
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=465637
edit: have you got HDTweak installed? its good to configure the data to auto turnoff after 1 minute or so (even in gsm gprs could be running)
I tried to setup the new ROM but I didn't resolve the problem!
If I leave my mobile only with GSM on, without use it, without call and sms, the battery lost 2% in 30 minutes, and it's not normal!
If I use it, change settings, write message, the battery lose 5% in five minutes!
I don't know what I have to do...this mobilie now can't live without a power connection!
I want say also that at the beginning some application in my HTC wanted "HTCAPI.dll" because they didn't found into the mobile...so I found this dll online and I did copy/paste into the directory!
It can gave me problems with battery?....I don't know how it's possible, but I don't know!
Try to buy or borrow another HD battery and compare them. You should know the problem then.
Of course, I alredy bought it online, and I'm waiting to get the shipping!
But it's very strange that a battery stop to work suddenly, but I know that there are a lot of people who have my same problem!
If i were you, i would flash back the original rom and do a hard reset. Then, without installing anything on the device, see if the problem persists.
Thank you ardsar...I want to try....can you tell me, what I have to do to obtain the original product?...without hardspl and new rom?...like the first time that I turned on this HD! Thank you so much!
For example, I have your same SPL and ROM at the moment!
Hi Ardsar, I flashed my ROM and SPL (brand), and now my mobile is like the original but....do you know Teeter?...I played 2 minutes, I completed 3 levels, and from 85% the battery is now at 79%...
Hi guys...yesterday I did a lot ot tests, but without positive results, but I fund out new problems:
1)The bettery lose a lot of charge also if my Blackstone is offline, when I use it with TouchFLO, Teeter, SMS, Settings...everytime!
2)I have near to icon of signal, the simbol of GPRS, but sometimes it changes with the simbol H and with this new symbol, the signal falls and to resolve it, I have to wait a long ore reset the mobile.
Now I'm not sure that the "target" is the battery...I don't know, I changed also the Radio ROM with new last, but the problem is not over!
Before put it into garbage case, someone can suggest me something to try?
...I will never bring it to Assistence HTC, because I will have to wait some months, and I didn't pay 500€ to have it "under repairing"
Do you have SK Tools 4.4.6 or another battery monitor installed?
With SK Tools, you can see under the sys info the current battery use. My usage is in standby with lighted display -100mA. What's normal?
My battery is also very empty. Last evening i had 54%. This morning, the phone was off, no power any more.
No, now I will try this tool!
But I think that you also have problem with battery, becase the firsts days that I had my HD, I left my mobile on the whole night with 100% and in the morning I had 100%...I had 99% at lunch time! And a lot of friends that have this mobile have the battery so strong, like me at the beginning...so...I'm getting angry
i have this problem too. had my HD for 2 weeks coming to 3 now and my battery seems to deplect very fast, totally different when i had it. could be becoz of the wallpaper and 3rd party theme i had
For me, it seems it's a software or anything else that needs so much battery power, perhaps the hotfixes or something else.
Sadly, the whole battery monitor progs don't show the needed power per running process, only the current usage. Can anyone with a "good" battery life cann post his current usage? (For expample with SK Tools System Information/battery supply)
Is the backup battery always at 0%?
Battlog
How about this. You can log your activities and see how much battery current (discharge) each application is using by the ma figure. It produces a .log file but if you change it to .txt you can open it up in a text editor.
Hope it helps.
EDIT: Just found out there is better info on it here on XDA Raphael forum. Credits to PalladiumTD for this app.
Today I tried a new battery, and also with a good battery, I have the same problem...so I think that I have to send my mobile to HTC service and ask for a new one, because it can be an internal problem, maybe of motherboard, radio, or I don't know...but it's sure that is hardware problem!
Did you a hard reset and installed nothing else?
Yes, I did...I alredy unpacked it and monday I will send it to HTC service....I hope that they will sed me a new one....a friend said to me that maybe this problem for them is called DOA (dead on arrived) and in this case they have just to change it!I hope so!....but I don't like...!
I know that I can reset it pushing the volume control ecc.....someone knows it exactly?Thank you!
Hello..I am an overall very excited HTC HD2 user but i am having huge battery problems which is why i am asking for your insights In general if phone is idle it can go as far as 35 hours straight without any charging. But when i start playing around with it, browse menus , look through settings, launch apps e.t.c the battery drains like mad..sometimes even 3% in 10 minutes..
i do not know what could be the cause of this in particular since listening to mp3, watching movies does not chalk down too much power,i can even say i was slightly happy in that area(consumption and quality wise)..
so far i have done the below..
-hard reseted
-got a brilliant new mmc (transcend 8gb class 6 FTW )
-flight mode only during nights
-bsb tweaks
-some of the tweaks mentioned in the registry tweak for battery thread (not mmc ones, read alot about data corruption risks)
-tested battery (output voltage and mah are fine and it only gets warm after 3 hours of constant ndrive use-which is normal)
-i never installed anywhere else besides phone memory(apps/games)
-virus free
-i have no data plan so 3g/hsdpa access is not a possibility(also deactivated all connections from NoData app)
-disabled all auto update app functions(weather, footprints, my location ,time e.t.c)
the only possible deal i can figure out its to blame is the radio rom..
As i said earlier i am very interested in hearing your thoughts, comments, suggestions on my issue..Thanks for hearing me out
specs
manila : 2.5.19211619
Rom : 1.66.482.1 (gr) - official
radio rom : 2.06.51.07
do you use msn live?
i have the SAME EXACT problem, i do NOT have any apps running, i always use cleanram, every apps always get terminated.
as soon as i TOUCH my phone, the battery drains, this battery is rediculous, i have BsB tweaks with powersaving, i dont beleive how you guys get a full day out of this crappy battery when mine doesnt last 10 hours with just texing/and web browsing. im on my third battery replacement, i conditioned my battery three times and STILL the same problem, i feel like braking this phone in half, im using my blackberry bold 9700 now which lasts me 3 days with FULL usage ALL day, my hd2 is about to see the hammer soon
try flashing it to another rom
I stepped from stock rom to artemis and I use my HD2 often but with the stock rom i didn't even came to the middle of the day but with that artemis rom i can get till next day morning without charging plus it's very stable and i almost never do a soft reset and i use this artemis rom about a month now and i didn't even do a hard reset after flashing
sorry for my english hope you understand me
My HD2 will last 2 days constant usage. This includes web surfing and emails being pulled down all day via exchange.
The battery goes down quick to about 30% and will stay around there for ages.

I hear good things about artemis as well but i am afraid i am not up to the flashing challenge..too much of a chicken to play russian rulette worth 680 euros :3 (in case i break something)
just for a test select sign in with a different account so it wipes your details amd reset, use your phone normally and dont use live see how that gets on.
I had my phone running for 2 - 3 days of medium use. as soon as i signed up for live it was lasting less that a day even if i used task manager. I then wiped my details then it was back to normal again.

With Artemis you can hardly go wrong. It does not flash your radio only the OS part, you do not have to use HSPL but SSPL which is far easier to perform. It's all explained on the Artemis thread itself: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=612580
regards, Kuzibri
BTW, if anything should go wrong, almost impossible with Artemis ROM's, then you can always flash back one of the original stock ROM.s from HTC itself (1.66 or 1.72)

hmmm...this is actually interesting...the artemis post seems to be fairly close to stock rom...BUT..if i backup all stuff i got now, will the usual apps (spb backup e.t.c) store everything?like e.g pc imaging apps(acronis true image , paragon drive backup) ? and if they do...and something goes wrong i can restore from pc even if hd2 becomes unbootable?
i really wish there was something simpler than me meddling with flashing :S im more into-system knowledge oriented guy :S

I understand your "reluctance" to flash a new ROM, but to be honest if you go wrong with flashing Artemis Rom, you will probably never will be ready/equippped to flash a new ROM. Flashing a Artemis ROM is as easy as it can be!

Byt the by , there is supposed to be a WWE version of 1.7.x this month i believe..maybe i will start with that and if it gets me nowhere Artemis here i come!
i'm just waiting for a 1500 capacity battery... which is all i need...
running full power and and heavy use... i manage to make it home to charge... but still... i would much rather have a bigger battery to avoid some worrying...
1500 would be soo perfect.. that accessory alone would add an extra 3-4 hours of life on my phone.. which would be more then enough...

Hopefully it comes out soon, but I'm tempted to try Artemis at the moment.
By the way i have 1 weird question about all those ROMs..Are they created from scratch from their makers or are they just modified/edited/tweaked versions of the original OS (ROM) that shipped with the phone?
I ordered a battery bundle with a wall charger, 2X1200mh batteries and a Mirco USB wire for $14 bucks. This is my first full smartphone so its hard for me to get used to the battery life.
I turned off all communications to flight mode. Yet my HD2 battery power keeps dropping fast. I dont have this problem with all my previous windows phone. Whats wrong? I'm using factory rom

yea the hd2's minimal battery life is something that i never had to deal with before also... (i've owned other smartphones but usually could last 2-3 days with moderate to heavy use...) but then again.. i never had a smartphone like the hd2 before
regardless... i'm not sure if i'd be willing to carry 2 batteries around with me... granted i could just leave it in my car until its needed.. but i guess i just consider it a extra thing to remember before i go inside my house/ an extra step to complete before i sleep... would much rather have just one 1500mh
Battery Drain
Do you guys experiencing battery drain have Co0kies Home Tab installed?
There is a known battery drain issue with CHT if .NET version 3.5.9198.0 is not installed. The battery drain will disappear when 3.5.9198.0 replaces .Net 3.5.7xxx.
Don't forget to update the registry to activate the new version and deactivate version 2 or earlier version of 3.5!
Co0kieMonster said:
Some users have had trouble with the battery drain.
I've now added this solution to the first post.
About battery drain:
There is an incompatibility with older versions of the .Net framework that can cause the battery to drain too quickly.
If you have this issue download the latest .Net version from here and install it on your device.
Even if you don't have the issue, it's always good to have the latest .Net version installed.
Big thanks to mike2nl for providing this solution, and to MichelDiamond for tracking the issue while I was away.

Hi
I've been reading xda threads for long now and I have always wondered if there was a way to transform a smartphone into a basic phone. Let me explain myself.
I own an HTC HD2 and I'm really satisfied with it's big screen, power, ... I live in a house with electricity cool and thus charging it every 1 or 2 days is not a real problem. But once a while I have to live a fews days or a week without electricity (for example holidays like a one week camping), but I still have to receive a few important phone calls.
I'm using Android right now and this led me to think of a linux build (for example launched from WM) that would only enable us to browse our contacts directory and manage phone calls. The interface would be very simple, without beautiful effects, and I guess it would be possible for the battery to last very long this way, since most of the apps launched on powerful OS would not even be included. There would be not slidings, no transparency, and everything that require power.
I'm sorry if such a topic exists but I took some time to search and nothing appeared. And please don't replay "It is not the purpose of smartphones" since I know that, I've made a choice and I'm satisfied, but I just want to know if there's a way to make it even better.
I'm not (yet?) a developer so what I ask might be unrealistic, but I'm convinced this idea could be useful to most people. There could also be other ways to achieve this, like another OS or just a WM mode...
Don't you think it would be great to be able to switch to this when long battery life is needed ?

Hello,
That is actually quite interesting, but the first time I have heard of such a query in the 9 months this phone has been released.
Just out of interest, have you tried running the phone with just the standard WM interface to see how long the battery lasts?
Alternative solutions:
1 - You could always try wind-up, or solar charger.
2 - buy the cheapest PAYG phone you can get (on your network)and put your HD2 SIM in it.. These tend to last quite a few days on standby and you don't really care if it gets bashed or wet.

Those are nice ideas ! (Infact I've lost my cheap phone recently)
Morpheus, what you mean is WM without sense ? I'm not sure there would be a huge improvement...

you can turn Sense off in Settings/More/Today,
and according to BattClock power consumption on my Leo (YMMV) is:
Sense: 100-300 mA
Windows Default: 42 mA
Turning off sense would give you a noticable amount of battery life......
The sense interface is a hungry hungry beast........
The linux idea is nice but the problem is that it would be running on top of windows and therefore not save any battery.........
Luckily I still have my trusty (4 days without a charge) N95........
The old girl still comes in handy...

Whenever I break my good phone I just use a T-mobile PAYG phone until I can order a new phone. Or if I'm going camping or biking or something.
nice i will try to disable sense ! thanks for this tip
about linux, i believe i read that wm is completzly shut down when launching android (it only serves as a trigger ?)
Running SPB Mobile Shell, I lose 1% of battery life every 3 hours on standy. That's with data and wifi turned off and just the phone running. That would give me about 300 hours of standby time. In theory that should last you a week with a few short calls.
Problem with Android/Ubuntu on this phone right now is you have to run it off the sd card, which draws a lot more power. Whenever the screen is on it draws a lot of power anyway. The best I've done so far is 6% drain over 8 hours with just the phone running in standby.
The most obvious/best solution for you is to just bring an old dumb phone instead or as backup. Then you can just slip the sim card out and use that to make/receive calls.
