I got a Wing, and it came with that big ass charger that says use only for wing, mda, and dash. Well I JUST now read that on the charger. Its not that I've been using this charger on other devices, its that I've been using my OTHER usb chargers to charge my Wing.
Is this bad?
Im currently using the charger from my BlackBerry Pearl (well, until I found the Wing charger again), am I in any way damaging my battery life? Or perhaps not charing as fast as I should?
Im just curious why you can only use that charger on those phones, and if its so picky, if I'm doing harm using other chargers.
If anyone knows please do tell.
No worries. The tag you see is more of a marketing decision than a limitation of the adapter itself. You can use that safely and normally on any device that requires a standard USB charger. And vice-versa, you can use any standard USB charger to charge your phone with zero adverse effects.
... well, as long as it's not a REALLY cheap charger.
right on.
I didnt know if the "wing charger" had some type of extra output to help charge faster or something.
I use a Motorola Razr car charger and it works just find.
I have noticed once or twice, for some odd reason, sometimes the Wing wouldn't "recognize" when I plugged it in with a razr home charger... like it wouldn't show that it was charging ... but maybe it was just a crappy charger.... I don't know. But I have charged it with a Blackberry 8000 charger with no problems.
I always wondered myself whether or not it would be a problem... bc the Wing's usb plug isn't a "standard" usb, but it's got a weird shape.... but I still think its just a marketing BS technique to get you to buy THEIR like $40 chargers.
Actually it may not damage your device, but may damage others using it the other way around.
Moto RZ charger is 850MA Output
T-Mobile Charger is 1A
Output
After charging my raz on accident with the t-mobile charger it seems like it can no longer hold a regular constant charge...
This also is in effect with any itips/igo adapters there are two tips for the charger, one raz USB, and one for t-mobile higher powered devices
I'm using a Motorola Q charger in the car just fine. Which is nice, because it can also charge the GPS receiver that also has a mini USB jack.
Charging your wing with any min-usb charger (such as the standard motorola ones) is fine...
The only problem you might face is... if your phone is *completely* discharged, you will need the stronger charger to recover it... the Razr chargers and the like don't seem to have the strength to revive a completely 100% dead Herald

I actually experienced this with an MDA (wizard) ... it had been uncharged for months, and I tried to charge it with a razr charger, and after sitting on the charger for like a day ... it had zero charge.

DAMNIT!!
I did this too!
I had a wizard I was going to use before I got my wing. It wouldnt charge, I thought the battery was trashed, so I bought a new one.
Though I only spent 10 bucks on the battery, I wish I would of known. Though I bet a real charger for it would of been more then the battery.
hi guys

Almost certainly bad hardware. My first i9000 had a problem with charging, so they just swapped it for another.
Take it in and try another.
i am not really into it and it could be absolutely nonsense xD sry if so
could it be that your charger is only for ~220-240V and you are trying to charge it in a country with ~110V

no way
if it is 220V or 110v
i have usb way to charge it>>no diffrents!
I have a plugin charger & a USB charger. When I plug my USB charger, it charges quite fast. But with the wall charger, there seems to be a problem. I discovered that my daughter had tried to push it in the wrong way & has bent the pins way too little. Now, when I have to use the wall charger, I need to shift the phone a few times for it to connect. Is it possible to bend the pins INSIDE your phone socket? Is that why it isn't connecting properly?
always the phone is showing charging so no way for desconnectiing the charger or the pin inside
Don't know if this is your problem but the charger that came with my phone was very slow, it would take about 6 hours to do a full charge. I bought one off the internet designed for a blackberry and it charges my phone in 2 hours now.
I just starting having this issue last night...out of nowhere while the phone was plugged in, it said "Unable to charge. Use the original charger."
The odd thing is it actually charges a little in between the messages popping up, so it makes no sense...it's an obvious contradiction. lol I did a reboot but that didn't fix it. I'm using the oem charger.
This morning it happened a few more times but after unplugging and plugging back in quite a few times, it seems to have stopped - it appears to be charging normally (for now), but I'm still concerned!
Any suggestions/ideas?

I've seen it happen now and then on my phone. Usually it just means the charger isn't very well suited. This happened when I was using the charger for an MSI Tablet that my wife uses and keeps plugged in in the living room. It does charge very very slowly.
On another note, I actually had the phone tell me last night while I was outside that the battery was too cold and that it couldn't charge while hooked up to my external battery pack.....now THAT was funny.
Were you using the original charger the whole time? If so your USB port might be going bad?? I had to replace mine on my Galaxy Nexus which was a Samsung.

Hey, yeah the same charger the whole time. This is very odd because now it's not doing it anymore. I just got the phone a few months ago so I can't imagine it's the USB port...that would be ridiculous!

Hey buddy I have the same issue. I am not sure if it is the USB 3.0 High Speed port. But what I did was use a stand micro USB cable with the original charger and it works. I am going to ask for a warranty exchange here shortly. But I suggest you try that.

True, that would be odd. I got mine just a week or so ago and it charges fine with the original 3.0 charger and my old 2.0 ones from my galaxy nexus. I'd just keep an eye on it and if it keeps happening, it may be worth getting a warranty replacement.

Hey man, it's funny that you say that because if it continued to not work that was the next thing I was gonna try (standard usb cable) thanks for letting me know I'm not alone here! It's kind of ridiculous that a two month old phone would have these sort of issues, especially at this price range...it's pretty much inexcusable.
If it continues to happen I'll be trying for the warranty exchange as well!
Thanks!

I'm having a severe case of this issue on my Note3.
No matter what charger cable I use (including 3.0 OEM), w an OEM base or not, no cable will charge and always gives me the "Use original charger" statement. The only way to currentlly power my device is via Qi Wireless or swap batteries.
I'm not sure what may have caused this.
The only big difference with my usage is I recently bought Anker batteries for swapping the OEM battery. But I've put my OEM back in and Im still getting this issue.
Dont kno if there's any relation but LG Qi Pad use to charge through the Seidio Dilex just fine, but now I have to take the case off. Qi Wireless charging still works fine on my Lugulake with the Dilex on though. Difference between then and now is I added a Skinomi on my back cover (excessive, i kno, for those occasional days when I want to go bare).
EDIT
my PC doesnt seem to detect my NOTE3 as a storage drive either when plugged in. Ugh, i may have a busted port. I wonder if I may have damaged it when installing my Skinomi. The adhesive requires heat to activate so I had plastic wrapped my phone and wrapped a hot towel around it to help thhe curves stick down (no it wasnt plugged in at the time)
other details, likely irrelevant, is I recently added a 64GB SDXC the device that previously didnt have external Storage.

I plug it in and yet battery still goes down
leave it for hours and its not fully charged
and keels disconnecting
tried another cable, still the same problem

Try a different USB power source (charger). They should be available worldwide.

Hello guys
My galaxy S4 is not charging :crying:, I checked the charger and it worked on another phone, So I think the wrong is in the phone.
Oh, and sometimes it charges but after 10 or 15 minutes charging it starts to connect and disconnect continuously from the charger.
What is the solution?
Edit: The wall charger.

Car charger or wall charger? I noticed my car charger does not plug into the phone as snug as the wall charger & have similar issues you described. However, wall charger works flawlessly.

Perhaps go to At&t store & see if you have the same problem with a charger there. If so, then it could be a hardware defect which I presume is covered by warranty.

Anything is possible but always start simple. Most likely it is the charger, start there. If you try different multiple chargers and get the same results, BINGO there's your problem. Warranty replace phone, (you're already at the At&t store) you're Golden.

Yes you may be connected, but perhaps the pins are damaged, missing, dirty or don't line up to the phone port properly to charge the phone. Start with the charger first. Save yourself a lot of time & guessing.
Any other help?
Mine did the same thing. So I went down and did the next thing and got the note 3 for the taxes and monthly payments. I also ordered the USB motherboard off eBay since I've takin one apart before. Going to replace that so it will be fixed and on eBay it goes. The phones in mint condition but have to charge and swap batteries. I couldn't handle it. Believe it or not, what started it was I had charger plugged into phone and unplugged charger from wall and took phone into another room and plugged into another plug without ever unplugging from phone. When I plugged it in wall it had a small little arc and that was the last time it charged.

There really is no other help. You gotta figure out if its your charge port or the charger.
If u can't replace with warranty there is 2 other options.
1. Buy the s4 wireless charge kit. Its like 80 bucks on eBay.
2. Get a universal battery charger and 2 spare batteries. And just swap batteries everyday.
3. Buy the charging port on Amazon or eBay and pay a electronic store to swap it out. Or do it yourself if u can handle it
Fixed mine today. Took maybe 15 min. And $7.00. To eBay it goes.
Simple as pie, just use ifixit to do it.

I am in the same situation and have just ordered the parts. I did a sample teardown and it appears to be pretty simple to do it. I'll report back in a few days, but my USB is for sure dead as it won't read either on a PC or Mac, or charge via a car, wall, or USB cable in a computer. I bought the Samsung S4 battery charger and kit, and the old battery works in there, so I know it's not the battery. However, the battery's "water damage" sensor is now pink, so I presume that the nasty humidity in North Texas this spring has killed the USB board. At any rate, hopefully, the fix is en route.

Well, the part and tools arrived and it was an easy replacement. The phone now charges like original. However, and this is a much larger issue, I cannot get and mobile data or any sort of non-wifi connectivity. I am thinking this board, which supposedly contains the antenna, is defective. It appears I can have EITHER network connectivity or sound, but not both. When I put the small plastic cover that also contains the speaker back on, it instantly kills my GSM connection to AT&T. With it off, I am getting a solid 4G LTE connection, and with it on, no signal at all other than wifi.
I've searched here and on the web, and the only thing I see so far is sending back the new USB board and hoping that the next one works in all areas.
Anyone have any ideas?

Double check the antenna cable connections at both ends. If you still have problems, try installing your old board back and see if data/wifi works. If it does, then the new board is probably defective.

The new board was defective, but they sent a replacement that worked better than the original. I also ended up finding out that the 1st replacement board had shorted the antenna cable, so I replaced that. My my son is now using the S4 with no problems. Long story short, he left his S3 on my car and it got destroyed, so I got an S5 and he got the S4...
All in all, to get back on track, this was an easy repair for anyone. I was surprised at how easy replacing just about anything other than the screen itself would be.

Contact your seller instantly and get both phone and charger replaced.
The fact that u cent using it even tho it was getting got is dangerous.
U don't want to wake up in the night with your house on fire.
Yup that is a terminal hardware failure from the charger. More concerning is the impact on the phone and battery.
Request everything to be replaced.
Good luck.
You sohuld definetly contact the seller. If you don't like the LG charger. Buy one from another retailer
