I have updated to R3 and my phone seemed to work OK until today when i pulled out the keyboard to write a text message i couldn't see the preview text field! I thought i was mad but the separator line has dropped so low i can only see half of the first line of letters when i type.
Is there any way i can revert the size of it to its original one without a hard reset?

I having a really stupid problem with my MDA Compact
When i am in New Text Messgae, i ahve 0/160 characters left,
but if i type im then space, it changes to I'm and i now have 4/70 characters left
if i type im then space half though a test message, it changes to I'm and i have something like 69/70 3messages
Anyone else have this problem, Please Please Help
(i sorted out my problem with everytime i did a reply, i had only small amount of charcters left to start with when i should have had 160
That is in Option - Turn off Reply with original text)
For some reason, when I open an SMS in my Text messages inbox, it starts at the bottom of the page, so i have to scroll up to the top to read it!
Im sure it didnt do this when I got the phone, but now it does.
Any ideas?
Try changing the way the message is sorted. Just tap a the small triangle below the close (X) button. Hopefully this solves your problem.
Sorry, I didnt make myself clear.
Its not the message list, its the message itself.
When I open an SMS, these can only be 160 chars remember, the screen is scrolled down a page showing blank nothing. I have to grab the scrollbar at the right and drag it to the top of the sms where the actual message and header are!
No sms would ever fill a single screen, let alone go into a second so I have no idea what is going on.

That happens with the keyboard attached or not?
This is happening to me as well - Anyone know what the fix is?

I never found it!
Just upgraded to wm6 and it opens them scrolled down a little bit, just enough to hide the "received on blah"message, but not the caller name/number
Makes me think maybe its to do with message headers? Fiddle with the header display options. Good luck.
May i know what your wm6 build number?..
we had this before in out wizard when we are still using the older build number wm6 ones..
I had that prob in the shipped Tmob rom on Ameo, Its not happening on mew wm6
New os is 5.2.1238 (Build 17745.0.2.3) though.
But as I say, it starts moved down a tiny bit only now, so i can see the message.
On TMob wm5 rom it started at the bottom of a long page, so EVERY time i opened a sms I had to scroll back up to read it, very annoying.
This bug occurs in wm6 build number 5.2.1238 downwards..
at 5.2.1413 the bug isnt exist anymore..
That happens when you set smooth scrolling/dpad scrolling via reg hack or change scrolling via htc tweaks, etc
Anyway to undo/fix it?

Change the registry back or uncheck the smooth scrolling box in the tweak app you are using..
or
see reg setting below
0 = Smooth Scrolling with joystick (but sms msg's will start at the bottom)
1 = Default scrolling by link vs joystick
Navigate without stylus
The default behaviour for your device's four-way direction button in Pocket Internet Explorer (PIE) is to jump between hyperlinks/form fields on a web page. To change this behaviour so that the button scrolls the page left, right, up and down, use the following tweak:
\HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Navigation\4-Way Nav = 0 (DWORD decimal)And to re-enable hyperlink/form field navigation:
\HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Navigation\4-Way Nav = 1 (DWORD decimal)You may still jump between links using Tab and Shift-Tab using the built-in hardware keyboard.
See the Hermes and/or Universal wiki for many registry tweaks, etc
That worked for me
Thanks
Barney
I have ROM 1.93 and the ammount of characters of the sms is hidden behind the keyboard. I heard that the old ROM had it in the taskbar.
Is there any tool or reg.key to put the counter somewhere else?
Or maybe a pop-up like the old SE phones have, with a notice thay you've entered the next sms.
Because I'm switching from provider for 3G and I won't have unlimited sms to my g/f anymore lol
I know it's not an ideal solution but, while you're typing up your SMS, tapping the keyboard icon at the bottom of the screen will toggle the keyboard on and off so you can check at any time before you send whether you've gone over the 160 character limit or not. It is a pain in the arse to have to keep doing it but at least it lets you see the info you need.
Yeah I already found this solution, but it's not that practical.
Also if I tap the incon in the botto my keybaord doens't dissapear, but I get the input options, where I can change the keybaord layouts.
When you type an sms outside TF3D, you see the count in the taskbar.
But I prefer TF3D, so I can work without stylus.
Hoped someone with program abilities countered the same problem and made a little fix for it.
Bizarrely if you are typing a reply it shows the characters in the task bar at the top left but if you type a new message it is under the text and hidden by the keyboard.

You need to tap away from the triangle/arrow beside the keyboard icon.
Hmm ok so no other solution then clicking away the keybaord, make adjustments, click it away again to check if enough etc etc.
I'll reserve 5 minutes per sms then, because smsing with the touchscreen isn't that quick either. lol
That's not a problem specific to the Diamond.
SMSs are a pain on touchscreens. They are a pain on Windows Mobile.
And of couse the Diamond is Windows Mobile AND touch screen...
hi,
i got a text today and when i went to reply i noticed that my text message font size has gone tiny.
i have tried a soft reset and it has not fixed the problem. it seems strange as i have not messed with any settings or installed any software and the font size was normal last night.
is there a way to fix the problem? maybe by registry (does anyone know where in the registry it is?)
ps. it seems like the tiny font size u get in mania from the main ui screen.
Open email, with a message displayed ( opened ), Menu, View, Text Size......I think this might do it for you...change to large and see if you can read it better.

top man. all fix and as good as new.
i did download a full email sent from ebay early this morning, maybe something changed the settings so that it fitted the screen.
thanks
I'm using EzInput, Compact QWERTY.
I was replying to a message, by accident I swiped the thumb over those upper arrow XT9/ABC & Send buttons, then the font size suddently got bigger. I swiped my thumb around those keys again & it got even BIGGER.
I played around with the font settings (Settings > All Settings > Screen > Text Size), but nothing helps.
Soft Reset. Not helping.
Good thing I have SpriteBackup. Back up, everything's normal again...
Weird stuff.
Cant wait for the new ROM from HTC.
You can change Text size with the zoombar (in threaded sms-mode).
Maybe that changed your text size?!
That's it!!!
Thanks for the tip!
D
Thanks marcel
I was wondering where the setting was, didnt know about the zoombar thing
