Hello all,
I am attempting to install the stock T-Mo US ROM onto a T-Mo UK G1. I have been using it for about a year with the dev phone ROM and it works fine on the T-Mo US 3G. Now I've switched to a different phone and I want to sell the G1, but I want to install the stock T-Mo ROM so it will have access to OTA, full market, and carrier customizations.
When I try to flash the RC29 DREAMIMG.nbh it gives me an error, probably because the phone has a different hardware ID (DREA110 for UK vs. DREA100 for US). I have tried installing it from the dev phone bootloader, I have gone back to the stock bootloader, tried using a goldcard, I'm hitting a dead end now.
Any suggestions? It seems there must be some way to bypass the hardware ID check since the dev phone ROM and customized ROMs will work.
Thanks in advance!
P.S. It will load the UK RC7 ROM, so I'm fairly certain it is just the hardware ID that is the limitation.
I finally got it working. If anyone else is trying to do this, use HardSPL and it will work fine.
Hi,
I have the G2 Touch hero on t-mobile. It has been unlocked. It currently shows as ROM version 2.73.405.5, Android 1.5.
I want to start using on 3 Network, I have their internet / phone / text package.
I'm very new to this, so please can someone help me and point me in the right direction, as I would like to know the following;
1. How do I upgrade to android 2.1.
2. How do I get the 3 portal stuff to be on the phone when I switch on each time, as I would if it was a 3 phone. In other words switch on as on 3, not t-mobile.
Many thanks for your help.
Use BTDAGs guide linked in my signature to find out how to install custom ROMs.
As yet there are no 3 customised 2.1 ROMs.
You can get the 3UK customised 1.5 ROM in update.zip format from here...
MoDaCo'S Stock ROMs + radios in update.zip format for GSM Hero
Or just use any custom 2.1 ROM and search "3 uk skype apk" and "3 uk MSN apk" for those two apps,... not sure if there are others you may want/need?
Hi ddotpatel,
If I don't use a custom rom, because I find it difficult to do, can I just get an "official" 2.1 upgrade for the phone via t-mobile or 3 network. Which would I need, as its a t-mobile phone, with a 3 sim?
Thank you,

Now Im not 100% on this.. but would the t-mobile phone not tell the update server it needs the t-mobile update regardless of the sim thats in it?
.. for example.. Ive got an unbranded hero.. with an orange sim.. but I got the unbranded update pushed through to me.

Indeed that sounds about right to me,....
There are no UK branded TMobile or 3UK 2.1 ROMs yet, they always take longer to be released. If you dont want to use custom ROMs, and are happy to NOT have root access, you can run the official RUU .exe filefor 3UK from [ROM] Official HTC Hero RUU ROM + Radio Links . This will install android 1.5 (3UK customised) and have your phone set up for updates.
WARNING,.... You might not be able to use custom ROMs ever again once updated to official 2.1.
Hi everyone,
My phone is switching operators automatically for some reason. I have had this virgin sim card for the past 10 years or so and it has never caused me any problems. But some time ago it started switching to T-Mobile and Orange (never Virgin any more), this wouldn't be a problem if I were still able to send messages or make phone calls. Everything works when I'm on T-Mobile, but nothing works on Orange.
I have no idea whats causing this, I have tried flashing different roms (all CM7 ones) but they all have the same problem.
Only thing I can still think of is upgrading Radio (if that is possible, but I cant find any information about it?) or going back to stock ROM (which I can't find anywhere).
Hopefully somebody can help me,
Thanks
here's a backup of stock 2.1 (with fastboot)

Have you checked that the APN settings are correct? Go to settings>more (under wireless and network)>mobile network>APNs and either make sure the correct ones for your network have been set or create a new one with the correct settings. If you need to create a new one, you can get all of the info you need either from the internet or by calling your carrier and asking for them. I've found that the SIM Toolkit built in to CM doesn't work for me, but you can try it anyway.

Have you gone into settings>wireless>mobile networks and searched for networks. What happens when you do that? I had a similar problem with a JB rom. The rom just would not see the network. Nothing. Said error searching for networks. I flashed other ROms and they all worked ok. It was something specific with that ROM and my phone what was not happy. A different ROM sorted it out. I am too new to know where the signal loss is.

again another noob question...
a friend send his phone to repair it... it came back with a t-mobile bootanimation... I dont really know if its a t mobile now... but anyways... I flashed a stcok rom over it .... XXUAME2.... then flashed omega v9.. but have no wifi cause the baseband is still on XXUAME2... could that be because it's a t-mobile phone? I guess not...just a question.. the wifi fix won't work that's why I ask...
