Alright, so I have a Titan flashed to Cricket using Ryan Mogul's ROM, and I've been having problems connecting to online apps such as Hamachi, Skype, and some others. Some guys on the HowardForums got Palringo to work by modifying some registry settings, so I'm wondering if this is possible with other programs such as Skype. This would make things much easier for me, since there isn't a WiFi connection everywhere I go, and the main reason why I got Cricket's data plan is because of power outages, which knock out WiFi. Does anyone know of anything I can do?
I've tried using port 80 on Hamachi and it doesn't work, so I'm thinking there's something else going on. If there are any general settings I can try for all programs through modifying the registry, that'd be nice.
Thanks.

Despite tmobile saying that the 5.99 restricted dataplan will not work on the Wizard even though I've had it working since the day I got the phone, I stumbled upon something that seems strange henceforth I think I'm missing something with this GPRS stuff:
Here is what I've found recently:
Use "tmobile web on wizard"
set proxy to 216.155.165.50 on port 8080
set T-mobile data to dial wap.voicestream.com
This will allow pretty much complete web browsing, except for FTP and Remote desktop.
I'm sure everyone on this form knows this by now.
Though I was playing around with the bluetooth modem/USB modem capabilities of the device.
In the connection settings for the number dialed you use *99# change a few setting in windows and then you have your GPRS connection on your PC. Change firefox to use 216.155.165.50:8080 for the proxy good to go.
Though friday I discovered something, the internet was down at my house and I needed get online, seeing that I know I can use my phone as a internet adaptor I paired the bluetooth and created a dialup connection using bluetooth number dialed *99#. I was on the web but this time it was different, I no longer had to put in the proxy into my browser, RDP worked, VNC works, it is like I had a full (somewhat slow) connection. No restrictions except FTP access.
I find this great, I can do pretty much everything I could normally but what is different? Did tmobile screw up?, is it using my minutes instead? Is there something about the networking when used as a modem I do not understand?
Though I am not able to replicate this level of non-restriction on my phone itself (which would be really nice), when is the other foot going to drop and I get really large phone bill from tmobile?
I don't think you're going to get hammered with a big data bill but those ports will not stay open forever. Check out threads in the t-mo forums on hofo from the last few days. Everyone had connection troubles and now it looks like the ports are closed again on the t-zones apn. Prior to this I was able to tether, stream, run bit-torrent(slowly), d/l large files, etc. Now everyone is reporting, myself included, that we HAVE to use the proxy again and the ports are closed up now. Some people, mostly east coast, are reporting no problems yet. But from Cali to Illinois it looks like the free ride is over. And I'm finding it hard to open my wallet and fork out $20/mo for what I was paying $6/mo for last week. Especially when seeing my bro down the hall from me paying Cingular $30/mo and getting 900+kbps down and 384 kbps up. Speeds are way down on the t-zones apn now too. Have been getting 190-220kbps now getting around 70, if I'm lucky. Way to go T-Mo, I stab at thy heart.
I'm really pissed now because I used to be able to access Citrix through the proxy but it is not letting me anymore.
hi there. I have comcast VOIP and a wifi router as well as my wizard. Its running the faria 5.0 and has the crossbow 1.7 final update. I was wondering if its easy to get my mda to work as a voip handset over Comcast VOIP while at home. I've seen a few posts such as (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299950) but cannot see that it is simple or for comcast. I have tried skype but that costs and the sjphone just didnt look like it could do it....maybe im not looking in the right places. I do have a BT headset and usually run @ 286Mhz so I'm sure my phone can handle it(although I have like 16MB reserved for different Cache).
Anyhoo, if anyone knows an easy way to do it (including what ports to open in my 3com router) that would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
Thanks guys.
anyone?
Anyone out there who can help?
I really would like to get all this working.

What's the best WiFi interenet sharing solution? WalkingHotSpot, WiFiRouter,
JoikuSpot, ICSControl, Internet Sharing, or Tethering, etc. Is there another option? What's the advantages and dissadvantages of each?
What I would really like is to have a solution that allows me to configure how many people can connect and/or some kind of security, WEP, or anything at all. Is that possible?
I tried using the Internet Sharing Utility but I would keep getting a Verizon sceen saying I needed to sign up for a different service. I tried both WalkingHotSpot and WiFiRouter. WifiRouter seemed to keep my WiFi on all the time and allowed unlimited people to connect with no security, and WalkingHotSpot I couldn't get working for some reason, but it didn't look like you could set up any security with that either. Thanks for the help and time..
I don't think wifirouter can be beat, I have used it and prefer it.
I hear there is a bug in it that allows it to keep your WiFi turned on all the time. I heard there is a WEP feature and a feature that allows you to kick IPs off from using it. Do you know anything about this? Thanks.

I am not sure what you are talking about.
But you can set up a secure wireless network. It is only on if the switch is on so when you disconnect and turn switch off its done.
I have run the program for 10+ hours straight while on the road it kept the wifes laptop connected anywhere we have connectivity. I do run a amplifer and external antenna for those weaker areas.
Go check out the documentation at this link to see if the info is there?

What version of the software are you using? I don't remember seeing any of those options with my version. It seemed to still have WiFi working even when the button was off, the icon looked like it was still working, but I didn't test it.. Thanks...
wmwifirouter is my favorite and my dad's by far
Hello Guys,
So I'm on Simple Mobile (on t-mobile network) and I activated mobile internet soon as I got my vibrant. Before, I used wi-fi and everything worked well. But when I enabled mobile internet (My provider gave me settings for G1 & G2. I thought that it would be good enough for my vibrant), I faced these problems
*The default web browser won't connect to internet
*Other applications seem to work fine
*I can browse android market but any downloads I make are unsuccessful.
Its just so weird that some apps are able to connect to internet and some don't. Is this a known issue or is it something with the settings I got from my provider?
any help/comments would be appreciated!
Different apps probably communicate on different ports. I know when I got mine from T-Mobile the rep had to edit my account to add the Android data plan even though I already had unlimited data he just needed to change the provisioning. The only reason I can think of is that maybe it unlocked different ports.
I have been taking advantage of the all you can eat data on the 3 network UK. They currently allow you upto 80gb data transfere in one month on your phone. Up till now it has been working great but since last night, 30th Sept it refuses to connect for wireless tether. Normal internet on the phone is fine, I am using it now to post this. Even with apps from the Market, such as Wireless Tether, Barnacle and Open Garden wifi, the same problem still persists. I have even tried to connect on a risky open network with no password but the same could not connect message is displayed. I have tried going back onto Roms where I had no problems with tether and still can't connect. I have task 29 and loaded everthing from scratch and still the same. I have also cleaned my similar, nothing seems to work.
Has 3 UK changed the apn settings for tethering as they offer this on another plan they have or perhaps the solution is more simple to fix.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hi,
Mate I'm exactly in the same problem and I'm hating 3. I used to tether and use internet using apps yesterday and today I'm facing this DISASTER!

They probably have it User Agent filtered. So there servers see that the User Agent is of desktop origin and not mobile. You may have to google around for a way around it. Im sure there has gotta be one. Im starting to hate how all these cell phone companies wanna charge for tethering. Data is data, period. How can using my laptop to browse the web be any more costly to the cell provider? If anything it would use more data, but if there is a cap then thats my problem not anyone else's. -.- why is everything about money all the time?!
