Have you tried preforming a hard reset? (I think you hold down the end, camera and reset buttons at the same time, not 100% sure though, search the threads ) Also, what rom are you using, custom or official cause it could have been a dodgy flash?

Well, I might have screwed my phone (Chinese T4242). I was loading the 6.5 ROM with the green bar about 3 or 4% done and it said "update failed". I waited a few min and restarted the phone.
When I turn on the phone it gets to the Windows Mobile screen and stays there. I can't get into bootloader mode either, it goes directly to the Windows Mobile screen also.
I tried a soft reset with the little button in the back. I tried a hard reset by pressing the call and end call buttons while pressing the on button. The screen turns white for 1 second and then to the Windows screen again.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ian
If you used the Iolite ROM with the device that has nothing in common with it (except for the look), it is quite possible that your device has been bricked. We can hardly help you as we don't have the device you have. Even the button combination for entering the boot-loader can be different. Once again, this is not the Iolite device you could easilly ask the same question on Diamond forum. The hardware is completely different...

Thanks for the response.
I used the ROM that is going around for the Chinese version of the phone. As for the phone being bricked, I want to know if there is a way to "Unbrick" it.
Thanks,
Ian
w98seeng: We can't tell you, because we do not know how. Generally speaking, when you brick your device, you can't do anything. Write to your device's manufacturer support, maybe they will help you.

I've heard about similar problems with a Chinese HD2 clone (with android too), people tried to flash it with a customized Leo ROM and bricked it. Also I think it has another buttons combo for HR and bootloader. Are you sure that your phone is genuine HTC HD2?
Hi guys. Friend of mine asked me to have a look at her HD2. Problem as stated in thread name. I haven't got the phone yet, but would like to see if anyone has any suggestions. It's standard HTC without any mods at all.
Thanks

Do you not get the standard short vibration or any response when trying to turn on? What happens when you connect to a PC? Do you get the Qualcomm in device manager?
Lastly, you are positive she didn't flash anything?
Will report on your questions as soon as I get the phone. Quite positive that she didn't flash anything. Thanks for the reply,at least I have a starting point when I get the device.

Also check the battery pins too. One of the two positive pins or the middle pin may be bent. The middle pin has to be making proper contact with the battery as well as the positive pins. But if the middle pin is not making contact the HD2 will not turn on. Check to see if it will turn on while it is plugged into the charger too.
Right, just spoke to the girl, she said that it does turn on, vibrates, shows pink (i guess red) circle and some small writing and then shuts down. Does it give you any clues? Will get hold of a phone tomorrow. Is there a RUU I could run first of all?

Well if you can not get the HD2 to stay on I would not try flashing any ROM to it. one because that has got to be a hardware problem, two if it shots off in the middle of being flashed it can brick the HD2 then it will have to be JTAGed. If you can get the HD2 to bpot into bootloader and stay on then you can try to reflash the original stock ROM. But I would just try a hard reset first as that will give you the same effect as flashing the stock ROM again, aand get rid of any posinle mobile virus it might have. And before anybody says anything yes there is mobile viruses they are just not that common yet.
To do the reset hold both volume up and down buttons down and power the HD2 on then follow the on screen instructions. Be warned though this will erase all data on the device.
Cool, thanks a lot for your help. I'm pretty sure its software problem, or a virus as she did install something before phone went mad and finally refused to turn on.

So, my aunt gave me a hd2 she found yesterday and i currently have no idea on how to fix it and to make it usable. Currently the phone is able to charge with an orange light poping up. However, when i try turning it on, It vibarates once and only a black screen lights up. I tried googling the problem and so far, trying to hard reset or run bootloader only results in a black screen. Is the phone fubar or is there any hope of fixing it? thank you in advance.
plug it into a usb on PC with WMDC installed & run a rom updater & see if detects device.
Some links for HTC roms can be found in wiki & also the hard rest & bootloader key sequence ...
Make sure you know what what model you got before commencing with actual flashing though.
Too many Hd2 T-Mobile USA (TMOUS) die in the hands of the noob so read first ...

IMO it's more likely to be a faulty LCD or something related to(a faulty LCD motherboard connector)...
Could be, does it detect in WMDC, have you tried MyMobiler (link in my sig).
If turn it on do any buttons seem to function, doyou get any audio feedback when volume pressed up & down ?
could it be karma ?
where did your gran find phone ?
