First of all: nice forum and hopefully you won't be angry about my bad english
I tried to search for the same problem, but it seems that I'm the only stupid man with this kind of problem...
Here's my problem: I broke the small little antenna-plug (the golden plug) on the back side of the touch dual.
You can see it, if you remove the back-side-cover and take a look on the bottom right side.
I was able to fix it rough-and-ready but it's just a matter of time when the small wire breaks of I soldered on.
Please see the Attachment. There I draw schematically how it looks inside (turned round 180°).
Now, what I'm interested in, is how is the internal wiring of this plug if there's nothing plugged-in?
Am I right if I say the "to the chip" and the other thing I named "1" should be connected.
I ask because I tried to connect these two things and had a networkconnection as half as good as normal, any tipps - maybe a wrong material?
I'm not really good at High-Frequency technics, maybe there's someone in this forum who is able to help me - or sell me the whole part.
ATM I've a normal wire soldered on - some weird connection (sometimes better than ever, and sometimes no networkconnection),
and, how I mentioned above, it's just a matter of time when it breaks off again...
antena faillure
i had allmost the same problem. after i unplug thhe external antenna plug, my phone no longer pick up the signal on its own! ive have to keep the external antenna plug in all time to get reception. noo help so far, but from my search, i remeber readiing that after u plug in the external antenna, u killed the internal, not sure if its true, but it happened to me. i notice tht inside tht gold-plug, if you dont prperly insert the wire, or external plug, u lose your 3g, best adivise is to modify a plug and replace the wire or google pocketpctech and send yoour phone to have it repair! they do it. 60 for eval plus watevver else it tak for repair..bout 100 total! better than a broken fone! if u frgure out how to wire those things u talked bout n it wrks, please share details thnks!
First of all: My solutions is very poor, but it works
Here is a blank picture of the backside of the phone. I found out, the plate on the bottom is made of metal, so I think it was used by the phone as antenna.
And here it's with description:
Hope it helps you.
wow! im impress! excuse my limited experience toying with this, but from the pic, n pls correct me, i need to remove the original antena port, which shouldd reveal two solder point, (one fr ground n other fr..?)is it? then i solder a wire to which point? altogether, i can nver use external antenna again? , ill wait fr ur confirmation then i will try..open my touch! cross figger, thnks so much!
Okay, once again: I did this, because I really broke my antenna. I didn't break it like you with parts that match to the switch - I was a little bit more stupid and wanted to make some mesurements with an oscilloscope. I tried to stick the probe inside and broke the antenna. - So I had no warranty and no antenna anymore. It was clear: Either I buy me a new phone, or I'll fix this one. So I fixed it.
If you have any warranty, don't do this. You will get a connection again, but it's some kind of stupid - not a bad connection, just a stupid one - if you try, you will see what I mean...
If you try this:
I assume no liability. There is no guarantee that it works. You lose the warranty! You may destroy your phone. You do this on your own! I didn't wanted others to do the same as I did, I wanted to ask the community if there is a better way to fix it! An original switch would be the best, but I don't know where to buy it from!
Okay - here are my tips:
If you try this, - Tip Nr.1 - use a wire half the size I used. Because you maybe won't be able to close the phone completly again.
Tip Nr.2: Try to switch on the phone while it's open. Then use some wire and try some different wire-sizes and the pin's you would like to connect - without soldering it on. In "Phone"->"Menue"->"Options"->"Network" you can force the phone to search for a network. Otherwise you have to wait always for 2 minutes till it finds the network.
You maybe have to remove the old antenna-switch completly. But try first without removing it - it maybe works... The old switch has 4 pins - when you open the phone look at the image in my first post.
Have fun and let me know if it works...

Hi everybody!
Searched the forum for a while, but couldn't find my prob...
Anyway, first post and directly a question, sorry for that!
The magician starts to softboot nearly every switch on, during telephone calls,
or whenever he wants to.
This fault is recognized "on the web" and mostly referred to an "old" battery and
people say it fixed their problem.
But - it didn't fix my problem. I bought a new original battery > same difference.
So I thought, maybe all Stock-Batteries have the same aging-problem and
bought another new, but now an aftermarket type. Probably you know it already:
That damn thingy is still booting...
My ideas in the moment are:
- batterie contacts bad
- microswitch touchy, either mechanically or electrically
- the inbuilt "battery" has short drops
Btw, is the inbuilt batt a NiMH, like it is said in the systemsettings, or is it
a goldcap?
OK, that´s it, thanx for reading and please try to help!
Regards
pit
Problem solved!
Hi folks!
It looks like I fixed it...
It seems to be a "bad contact" at the microswitch.
Maybe, someone is interested in the solving, so here we are:
The button of the microswitch is sharp edged and the
counterpart in the batterycover is also very fine.
Therefore both parts must be well aligned to give
a good switching!
This might be a problem on older S100's.
So I built in a rubberpeace, that I cut of my eraser.
This holds the button down all the time.
No more booting!!!
BTW, what in hell is that microswitch for???
There's no need for one.

I had exactly the same problem with my S100 which I fixed by using a little ball of paper (!) which is now permanently left in the hole of the microswitch. I'm also not sure what the purpose of this little pin/spike is ...
(Another way of possibly fix this problem would be I think a little drop of 'super glue' on top of the battery cover's counterpart, formed with a toothpick or something similar as it dries out fast ...)
@dude1234: the microswitch is located about 3-4 mm just above the red plastic "lock" piece (which I'm also not sure what it does exactly regarding the battery, anyway ...)
Hi people,
i always wanted some standard audio output on hermes hardware, to listen to some music with some good earphone.
Additionally i wanted to be able to charge the battery while listening.
Unfortunately HTC engineers decided to put the very exclusive 11pin multi connector, for all that.
I know there are a lot of commercial adaptors and stuff to make this work.
But why buy expensive stuff like that and carry it around all the time, if it is possible to fix this on your own
So some day i decided to mod the hardware and implement at least a 2.5mm standard jack for audio.
I discovered some nice place for the jack inside the housing and made it real.
Guess what, it's working fantastic!
O.K. i must admit this kind of mod is only for some enthusiasts out there.
Not to forget the alarm vibrator get's lost, because the space is needed for the audio jack.
I don't care about that, because i never used it
Here's what you need.
Hardware part:
1. A real small 2.5mm audio jack with four contacts.
2. A very small soldering iron.
3. A very nice magnifier.
4. Some piece of small isolated copper wire.
5. 2-component glue to give some stability
6. Some patience and skills.
Additonally you may need a adaptor to convert from 2.5mm to a 3.5mm plug (depends on your earphones).
Software part:
1. Y-cable_HERM1_070316.CAB (works like a charm)
You may also use equalizer.exe to blast the sound on your earphone .
Attached there some low-res pictures of the surgery.
If there's some interest, i may give some more details or high res pix .
Anyway, i know this is a real sick mod but it's fun and good sound!
Cheers,
scholbert.
well done,a more comprehensive set of instructions and high res photos is definitely the way to go.
this is a very good mod maybe with some work the vibrrator could be retained .this should be a sticky is fleshed out well

Thanks for credits, stevieboy!!
Not sure about the vibrator stuff, but nothing is impossible .
Perhaps it might be placed elsewhere (see position of vibra on trinity hardware).

Thats fantastic! I dont use my Hermes for playing music because wired headphones suck (kept falling out..) and I cant afford a pair of bluetooth ones
I wish the Hermes had come like that!
more about that..

first of all thanks for the credits so far.

Sound is excellent and i don't like all that bluetooth overhead to listen to some music.
Anyway the 2.5mm plug won't drop i promise
I know that developer's time has nearly gone for hermes and some interest is already focused on newer devices...
But i use it everday, dropped it, repaired it, used it again, flashed new roms, surfed the net, made obviously some phone calls, liked the look and feel and...
That's why i put this into the forum .
But... , back on track.
I was asked again via PM to publish the pinout of the 11-pin connector of hermes.
So here it is!
This is the hermes side (it's male)!
EDIT: Headset Detect has to be pulled low to switch audio channel to headphones!
Thanks goes out to tracy and matt, who published the female connector of some headset first!!

Additonally i put together some high resolution pic's i took during the exercise (uups quite big). Upload just failed, try again tomorrow
Enjoy the music!

thanks for this work, that's what I searched for Although this is an old thread...
Just some questions - for what exactly did you need this .CAB stated under "Software"? Maybe I just want to build an own adaptor using the pin config, will I need this Y-Cable.CAB? If so, could you please tell me where I can get it?
Many thanks,

Uuuh as you stated this is an old thread and i fiddled around with it long time ago...
As far as i remember you'll need this tweak to install necessary drivers for the headset mode. Without this package the audio channel for the headphones won't be activated. At least it may depend on the ROM you're using. Some custom ROMs already got these drivers/settings build in.
Anyway, please unzip the attachment first, then install then CAB to your device.
Good luck for project and have a nice day!

Hey everybody,
this is my first Thread here at XDA and its actually also my last one (sadly).
Yesterday I installed InvisibleShild on my Touch HD. I followed the manual step by step and tried to remove all the fluid from the device display (in order to put on the protection foil you need to spray a lot of some kind of wate on it). I waited for a couple of hours and then turned on my device and first it worked fine but then after another hour the screen wouldnt react at all!! Only every 3rd of 4th time i touch the screen it actually recognices the touch, but most of the time it shows reaction for example in the uper left corne although i touched the lower right corner!!
So i guess the screen is somehow damaged by the invisibleshild fluid, even i dont know how, but I still wana try to find a solution for my problem.
So any advice?
Would a new screen helP? an if so is it dificult to replace the screen by myself?
Hope somebody can help,
Rene
P.S.
Sorry for my english, im actually German^^

Hey!
Sorry to hear about your problem! Have you tried recalibrating your screen? Maybe the calibration is off because of the protector!
I have actually used InvisibleShield myself and didn't have any problems... But maybe you used to much of the fluid! You're not supposed to use "a lot of" it (only enough to wet the shield) and you're not supposed to spray it on the device, but on the shield! The instructions are very clear about this!
I would suggest trying a recalibration and - if that doesn*t work - turning the device off and just letting it sit somewhere dry and warm in the hope that some of the fluid might be left and the problem might disappear when it completely dries!
If it turns out that your screen actually is broken, it would have to be replaced. There is a whole thread on replacing screens here, which I frequently visited because I had to replace my screen unit as well... There are several videos showing how the device is disassembled and many hints on how to go about the whole thing! I suggest you read it before doing anything!
Hey thanks for your advice I didn't use to much fluid I think and I only used it on the invisibleshild not on the device, but I was actually wondering if the fluid that your supposed to press away isn' damaging my device so Itried to wipe everything off as good as possible but I guess it still got into my device somehow. Well I love my new omnia but I want the hf to come back to life so I'm gona take your advice and learn how to change the screen myself with the help ofXDA I will ask in the right thread if I need help . thanks again, Rene
You're very welcome!
Wo wohnst Du denn in Deutschland?

And here the whole thing in English:
He just wrote, that he didn't find a complete screen unit under 59 but did find a repair service that would replace the whole thing for 105 total. And I want to know, what company does it for that price!
As per above post, if you are going to use a different language to English, could you also post this in English as per forum rules

Read my experience!
I've had the same problem, My father, brother and I bought 3 units and I applied all the units with Invisible shield too. My father's device had the same problem like you. I've applied so many other devices with Invisibleshield, it has never cause a problem until my father HD!
Please be very patient to the problem! Wait for a few days or even weeks to let the screen dry slowly within the screen. Hard reset the device, try use your finger to calibrate the screen instead of the stylus. Trust me, it should work, you just need to be very very patient and keep trying it.
Use your finger nail and press harder on the points during screen calibration. You need to keep trying it, "BE PATIENT", trust me, just keep trying it.
However, I regret to say that you might need to do this every time you hard reset your device. This was what I got from my father's HD. But it will definitely work normally as long as you can get through the screen calibration!

The invisibleshield instructions say you must wait 12 hours!!! not 2!!! (12h or 24h, I don't remember now) The fluid needs dry before use de pda. In 2 hours it's still liquid and may damage de circuitry.

Hi there,
I would like to replace the front cover of my touch hd, because I have some very ugly scratches on it. So I purchased one from ebay and now checked the service manual.
In the assembly part, there are some steps I don't really understand because I don't know the German words and what it means.
They very often say: "Put a Mylar on..." What the heck is a Mylar? And where does it come from? Because it is not mentioned while disassembling.
Same problem with "gasket", "adhesive tape" and "water sensitive label" - where do they come from? Where can I get them? I mean, I don't understand why I need more things when assembling than I needed while disassembling.
Hope you can help me...?
Perhaps that could help a little... (best i found so far)

Ok, let us go (in German from now)
Tesa
gasket - Dichtung
adhesive tape - Wieder eine Klebefolie
Water sensitive label - Wasserempfindlicher Aufkleber/Aufdruck
Hello, XDA-Guys.
First of all, thanks for the nice work you bringin' into the world of smartphoning.
I've just tested the Rhobuntu Developement on my HTC Blackstone. Looks like that the last build works fine but there's a funny problem with the touch. It seems like touching the down left corner it recognizes the upper left corner. To put it another way: Vertical touching is inverted.
Maybe anyone has a suggestion to solve the problem? I've tested the msmts_config but this doesn't solve it.

sounds like a bad calibration
Weird... I put the build on an 8GB SD, fully FAT formatted, it worked but it doesn't let me calibrate the touch. For testing purpose I put it on an old 2GB SD. Calibration successful. Just one problem to solve... It cannot establish a WIFI connection. Ok, I'll try to find out via "search". Maybe there's a walkthrough how to connect rhobuntu to my wifi-connection.
