my touch is really brand new and with the stylist its self i scratched the screen musta been particles on it, so then i been rubin the scratches tryin 2 fix it and now the scratches now look rainbow colored when the screen is on and has a white background. any1 ever fix this? will a screen protector fix this?
erm, don't think it would, it's just a plasitc film and it would still show through, sorry
You could always try rubbing a small amount of toothpaste (plain) on the screen with a soft cloth or a tissue then apply a screen protector, it should make the scratches less visable.

Yea or a different part of it. Just only apply a small amount of toothpaste on the cloth and gently rub onto the scratch. The toothpaste should come of with the cloth but just use a clean section of the cloth if it doesn't. Try using a circular motion and toothpaste without any microbeads.
Hope this helps, at the very least it will make it less visable especially since it's only a surface scratch.
Apply a screen protector before you get any more scratches lol.

does the toothpaste help with the rainbow effect i now have because of the scratches? when i have on a white background u can see every little scratch and its rainbow colored
Chances are, you have rainbow effect because you tried to remove the scratches, but didn't do it properly. Try Displex, but it does require some work put into it if you want your screen to be perfect.
Failing everything, new digitizers are fairly cheap and easy to replace.
hmm, when you say rainbow effect, is it jst the way it shows through the screen at an angle or is it pushed in? (by pushed in I mean like when you put your thumb on a calculator screen)
make sure that you use a soft cloth like one used for glasses otherwise you might create more scratches. If toothpaste didn't work try "displex (enigma1nz)". I think you need to rub it in really hard with circular motions.
Good luck

i just got my touch pro and have no idea how to apply the included screen protector...any help??
Generally speaking, this is the "standard" application method:
http://www.martinfields.com/video/Application.mpg
There are some tricks to help prevent air bubbles, such as this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewH-xONFN3Y
I went with a slightly different procedure I learned elsewhere. I filled a small bowl with about 1" of warm water, added a drop of mild, non-scented hand soap, and mixed it up so that there were few bubbles in the water. Placed the screen protector in the water to give it a good "wash" (to remove any dust). Then removed it from the water, shook off some of the excess drops, and applied it to the screen like normal.
The warm water made the film a bit more flexible which made it easy to squeeze out any trapped air, and the soap made it a slippery so it was easier to re-align. Once the protector was in place, I used a micro-fiber cloth to push most of the water drops out to the edge. There were a couple "dark" spots where water was still trapped, but they evaporated in about a day -- the important thing was to not have any air bubbles. The result:
Of course, you don't have to do something as complicated as I did. The real piece of advice is to just be very patient as you apply it.
im having a hard time separating the protector to reveal the adhesive side...i have been trying the last 30 mins with no luck at all only adding smudges to the protector and creasing it
someone plz help!!!!
Try to use your fingernails (if you have short fingernails, it's going to be a lot tougher). If that doesn't work, you can try a a super smal tear that will only rip a bit of the paper and not the protector.
i made a tear in the top part (above actual protecto) it seems like its only one layer...p.s. why does it include so many extra pieces of plastic??
Leant from a guy who applied for me in a shop in Hong Kong.
In addition to above mentioned tips, try to use sticky tape rather than your fingers to contact the screen protector.
You can also use sticky tape to stick out the dust.
When applying use something like a credit card to push bubbles out.
when i apply the screen protectors, i normally wash the adhesive side of the protector, then drop a few droplets of water on the screen; when you put the protector on the screen, you can then squeeze the bubble out with ease using credit card or just coin, and adjust the position to fit within 3 hours.
they should have included at least a PDAir type brand, not to mention a martin fields so that won't make our life like a living hell
I had completely no trouble applying the protector, without any soap or water.
It's a sticker... You just bend it in right direction, and the 'inner' plastic surface (protector itself) will pop off the base surface, leaving plastic frame around.
It's important no to place it flat on the device, but align one edge with screen edge, and while keeping it bent, apply evenly, going slowly from aligned edge to the other. No bubbles this way.
Even if you have bubbles, you can 'squeeze' them (move) to the side of screen and let them out.
Thanks to this thread, I discovered now that I also got these 2 included screen protectors in the package ;-)
Now, is it advised to apply both the protectors or only one?

I personally went one step further and put on latex gloves to avoid fingerprints and smudges. Also doing this in a damp/humid/steamy room like your bathroom helps avoid dust particles from swirling down onto the screen or the protector.
Hmmm... talk of condoms, latex gloves, and steamy rooms... let me just check if I'm still in the right forum!

such measures are not really necessary to apply a screen protector... i applied mine on a carpet in my room (which i havent clean in ages ), as long as you are careful, you can do it dust-free...
turn on the hot water in your bathtub, close the doors and vents, the room will be steamy in minutes. slap on the leather and bring out the whip, then you are set
Shall I pull the protector off the big plastic sheet so both sides get exposed to the water? Doesn´t the glue dissappear then?

Hi:
Unfortunately I can't afford my new Fuze til next month, but I have been doing ALOT of reading up, so I'll be ready when I get it. I have seen many people say that a screen protector is included, same has been said in the reviews I have read online. You can also check out this unboxing video, where you can see the screen protector: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWNK2lXl9I4
Maybe you just missed it in the box, it is clear after all
Hi,
Recently, unfortunately I got a pretty bad scratch in the middle of my screen, and not only is it ugly and annoying, though it ruins the usability of the interface. Is there a way to buff it out or otherwise fix it?
Thanks
i doubt so... in this instance, really prevention is better than cure...
Try a screen protector,
it have some sort of silicon surface which sticks to your screen, this might fill the gap of the scratch so it will not be much visible.
on My old SE P910, i had the same situation. solved it using a good quality screen protector.
good luck, and always use screen protectors
Try this program HERE
Come oon, go repair it

If the scratch is really that bad and a protector will not suffice, why not go out and buy new cover including screen? Of course use protector on new screen!!
Do a search in Blackstone accessories
I had a scratch tooon the screen. Not too bad but noticable. The sticky-stuff on the screenprotector filled it right up! No more scratch (well, the screenprotector is now full of scratches ).

Might I ask what brand of screen protector is that?
I have a pretty good scratch on mine as well. Scratch resistant glass my butt. I hear there is a layer of teflon or something on top of the glass is it possible to peel that away??? Guess I will try a new screen protector or a new screen if need be! grrrrr.
Edit: Sorry meant to post this in TMOUS HD2 board!
Ya, it's a problem, the HD and diamond 1 have the most insensitive screens I've ever used, using a screen protector makes it worse, plus they look pretty ugly if you can't get rid of all the bubbles/start peeling and getting dirt under them.
I'm resigned to the fact of replacing the cover/screen eventually, it's a lot more enjoyable to use without screen protectors, mine has a few scratches in it, but it still looks and responds better than with a protector
Go to Radioshake, ask for scratch remover (viscous liquid), fill the scratch with th eliquid then use a good quality LCD protector.
I still have the original htc touch hd screen protector on my device. I'm sattisfied with it but film begins moving away from the screen in one corner. My question is : can I use the film once again after cleaning it with a alcohol or something else? Sorry for my english
Toothpaste
I highly recommend you to apply some toothpaste on screen ..it will be worth it ..make sure it won't go inside your device ..coat it for 2 minutes then gently remove it by paper towel or u can use tissue paper etc..and VOILAAAAA ..do it twice if there are some left ..

NEVER use alcohol or any alcohol-based product to clean plastic. It will dissolve the plastic film and make it useless. Worse still, if it gets behind the plastic film, it will attach the LCD screen, and you will get a permanent mark on the LCD
I noticed on the screen when I breathe hot moist air on to it, there are streaks of lines running across everywhere and I'm assuming it's thinning on the oleophobic screen. I just bought it about a week ago, should I replace it? I ordered a carbon fiber from skinomi and it hasn't arrived, and I really like using the device.
Does anyone use warm water with detergent to clean their screen by any chance?
As far as I know, you're not suppose to use chemicals on your screen.

LOOL, hell no man. Do you want to ruin your display in a matter of days ?! Just use a glasses lens cloth as tumblerer said and that should do the trick.
Also, all those lines that you mentioned, that run across the display are part of the digitizer, not the oleo-phobic surface.

snap. get a good glasses cloth and gently wipe from side to side. i find circle leaves smear stains which can sometimes look like scratches and freak you out!
i've also heard that to effectively clean glasses, you should apply a bit of water - a fine mist - but i never do, and i'm happy with the screen tbh.
also, when i first took the plastic cover thing off the screen i found what looked like a bumpy textured surface. maybe that's the cause of your smear stains?
but, damn, the screen is so bright, does it really matter

Agreed. Just don't use any chemical substance. Do you want to make it suffer ? lol
As has been pointed out many times above, you shouldn't use anything other than a smooth cloth to clean the screen.
If the screen is sticky and you absolutely have to use something to help get it off, you should use water, preferably pure distilled water as tap water can have some grit to it as well as trace chemicals.
Never ever use soap, alcohol, goo gone, or anything of the sort. Probably shouldn't even use saliva.

How about licking the screen
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
I find the best way to clean anything I have is to breathe on it than use micro fiber cloth while it's still moist from my breath.
Gets smudges off everything.
Hey XDA,
i have got sort of grinding marks on the left Side of the Display.
It is really annoying if light shines into the Display.
Is there a Trick to get them out, or can you tell me some good stuff to polish that out?
These are mostly pretty soft "scratch-areas", not really deep.

Hey
I don't really see a scratch there.
just gently wipe it off with a folded cotton cloth. if you need just pour 2 or 3 drops of water on the cloth first.
make sure you don't drop water directly on your phone.

oh okay, I thought that the area is just a lil smudgy and water would help that.
but for scratches i am afraid you will have to live with. Try putting on a matte screen protector the thickness of the protector
prevents day to day scratches. I use the thin ones and trust me if there are keys in your pocket your screen will get scratched!

Try cleaning it with pure ethanol (not booze! The medical variant.) or denatured alcohol (for sale in any drugstore). That'll get rid of anything that shouldn't be on there.
It's glass, so if you apply the liquid to a cloth there's no risk of damage.
The tip of the Spen is coated in a thin rubber layer, by the way
