Anyone know of the codes (0x##) for the xperia keyboard or know of any applications I can use to determine the values? I want to map the au key to change input methods between english and japanese. sorry if this has been asked before, I wasn't really sure of what terminology to search for and I couldn't find much for keycodes or keyboard values.
Thanks!
As I remember, the PQzII app has some sort of test app that monitors the keypresses and outputs the code for each button, but I can;t remember if it works on the X1, I only really used it on a Touch Pro.
No link either, my firewall at work is pretty restrictive, but do a google/xda search I'm sure you'll find it.
ya I tried the pqzII app but I couldn't get it to work on the x1, its called pqzII_check. maybe I'm using to wrong.
hm I tried it again on a new room and it works, I had a driver error before. thanks for your help!
With AEButtonsPlus you can add new buttons to associate new actions with, and it shows the corresponding key-code. But don't know if it works in a trial version too.

Hi there,
THis is a strange one:
On a fresh hard resetted K-jam, I'm not able anymore to select other input methods than the standard installed ones. I tried with Fitaly, MessagEase and TextPlus but the show up in the list but when I select them, I get the standard keyboard!
The strange thing is that when I bought my K-Jam, Fitaly would work. Then I noticed that Fitaly wasn't completely compatible with 2005 so I uninstalled. Of course ( ) this wasn't done properly by the OS so I manually removed some keys in the register so Fitaly wouldn't show up anymore in the input method list. From that moment on I couldn't select any other alternative input methods anymore.
I thought a fresh hard reset would solve it but I guess not...
Why not? :?:

Same problem here. Have a 9100 and no special input software installed. I want to use the phonepad input, but when I configure it in the setting menu it switches back to the basic keyboard. Anyone have a solution for this problem?
There's a standard registry hack to do this. search for sip and registry or check the usual places.
Otherwise, use tweaks 2k.
Otherwise, use my sipswitch program as a last resort.
V
Hi Vijay555,
I checked your website. Nice tools there!
But were can I find the sipswitch and why use it as a last resort?
Wouter
on this board. search for sipswitch.
it needs updating before it goes on my site, but it works, i hope!.
v
Hi Vijay555,
The download link to the sipswitch file is not working anymore. Do you have a copy of the file somewhere?
Wouter
wouterk: try it again, I've updated the post on that thread, but here you go anyway!
Links to the app.

Hi Vijay555,
The download is working but the program doesn't do the trick I wanted (change to the input of my choice)
Too bad but thanks for the program!
Wouter
does it work at all, eg switch to keyboard with the keyboard command line parameter etc?
I've never tested it on WM5 but it should work...
V
Hi Vijay555,
It does work on a commandline for:
Flexslide and Speedscript but I'm able to switch between those two most of the time even without your tool. It does work somehow because just now I couldn't get Flexslide activated and with your tool from the command line it worked!
It doesn't work somehow with MessagEase. I can't switch to MessagEase at all no mather what I try. So there must be something different in MassagEasse compared with the other two... :?:

It sometimes depends exactly how the SIP is named. I've not tried it on many odd SIPs, but if you read the SIPSwitch thread I know some peeps had some experiences and advice on oddly named sips. Tell me how it goes.
V
On my dopod 900, I use keyboard SIP and PlumSIP, I wanna switch between then quickly.
But Fn+SYM or PQZ doesn't work properly,I try vijay555's SIPSwitch,but it's hard to use.
So I wrote one to switch between different SIP.
First map it to one hardward key,
Then press the key, it change the SIP to next SIP in the system SIP list and show the input panel.
BTW , if u want switch between some peculiar input method, u can use POCKET TWEAK to hide others.
Sorry for my poor english.
thanks a lot !!!
it's what I, not only me but all the chinese, need.
thanks million times.
I also want to know the exact way of hiding some input method, as I have been searching for the POCKET TWEAK you mentioned, but don't get any outcoming.
u can got it from here
http://tillanosoft.com/ce/ptweak.html
You're really unbelievable! FTSwitchSIP comes out just one day after you posted to try to find some tool to switch SIP. Many Chinese users of Dopod 838 and 900, known as Wizard and Universel here, have been searching for such a tool for a long time. I am just one of them who is lucky to find it out first.
I've shared your amazing tool in the pdafans forum, I hope you won't mind.
http://bbs.pdafans.com/viewthread.php?tid=203195
Thanks a lot.
Got PocketTweak.
there seems no direct way of hinding input method.
Would you show me some hints?
I think it has a bug here. I have been using the rom of Traditional Chinese. Got several input methods. And hide some of them with Pocket teak. And install CE and PlumSIP. Now I have 3 input methods. 1. Zhuying ( as default) 2. Mengtian Hand Writing 3. PlumSIP. At the beginning, the switch seems ok. I am very glad and thankful. But when I swicth several times, it stuck and both plumSIP and Mengtian displayed. The PPC is hanged. Only reset can make it work.
Thanks your reply.
I'll update it on this weekend.
I wanna add some setting and test it again.
thanks a lot.
I've been searching for such software a lot.

It toggles to all the oem sips but when it reaches pcm keyboard in the list I get "sipsetcurrentIM Error=0".

the tool works fine.. maybe u can try to hide sme OEM sips u dont use and try awain.. may be a memory issue
How do I go about that then - just delete the registry reference to them?
Also can anyone give me a tip on how to locate specific bits of the registry - it took me ages to find the registry entry to pcm keyboard (i'm using regedit).

works perfectly with ipaq hx2495 (WM5)! thanks for posting this cool app!
OMG! Thank you for this. Actualy, I figured out that it's a last thing that I need to be happy with my Artemis. To be able to change small stylus-friendly SIP which I'm used to use in my office to somethig finger-friendly when I'm on the streed by HW button.
Thanks!
What about new version with ability to setup two SIP to cycle just between them? - but as I said, I'm completely hapy as it is.
I was thinking about some annoying things about the Wizard and was wondering if anyone knew of a program that would let you re-assign button combinations for system shortcuts?
Like the Align screen. If you play emulators you probably know what I mean. Or the Run shortcut, pressing the enter key and holding the stylus on the clock is not worth it, but hold Windows key and hit "r" would be nice.
Anyone know of a program that will allow you to do this?
Or any Programming masters want to take this up?
PQz should allow you to do most of that stuff (eg windows key + r = run, I think).
Regarding the align screen, I've written VJCalibrula to disable that, but I've also written another tool to allow you to reassign most of the hardware assigned keyboard apps, eg reassign internet explorer combo, filexplorer combo, on the Hermes the video key etc. Also reassign the wired headset button to launch any app.
I could probably also write an app activated by the light sensor, but didn't think there was much point!
I'm going to try to build an app around the idea and release eventually.

Vijay555 I was kinda hoping you would see this do you know though if any of these work on the Wizard?
I tried VJCalibrula but the program didn't execute. Unless you have created an update since I last tried.
I did an updated VJCalibrula for your 2.26 rom, which one of your brethren tested and said it worked. Ergo:
Please test -
http://www.vijay555.com/vj/releases/vjcalibrula/vjcalibrulawizard.exe
However, to get some feedback if it worked, make a shortcut to the .exe and run with the command line -debug to get info.
The new unnamed app should work on pretty much every keyboard device, although I don't have a wizard and it really holds back my testing. VJVolubilis still can't be finalised because of this... one day
I'm still wondering how to present the final of VJ[...] button app. I'm using a rough and ready version for now, but I'll try to implement some kind of GUI eventually.
Ask me in a week or so and I'll try to send you an alpha if you want.
V
VJCalibrula does NOT work on the HTC Wizard (or at least my Cingular 8125). I am DYING for a release, as this Capcom emulator is freaking sweet, but this align screen nonsense is beyond annoying.
Please help!!

aNiMeMaN14 what ROM are you using? vijay said that he configured it for the 2.26 rom.
anyway works great for me. Thanks vijay!!
Guys I've rewritten VJCalibrula and VJUzumaki to work on (hopefully!) any HTC device now. I'm going to be doing a bit more testing prior to release though. Glad the current versions work.

hmmmm.. and where is the update?
Which app and which device?
V
I've searched but I haven't found it yet.
What I want to do:
I would like to have a shortcut that can be assigned to a hardware button that hides the SIP on my device.
Reason:
I'm using the threaded SMS program of a famous manufacturer and it's really geat. The problem however is that when colsing the application the SIP doesn't disappear.
I took a look at MortScript but it doesn't seem to be able to do this.
Hope someone can help me out here
Years back, in fact the very first app I wrote, I wrote SipSwitch to let you change SIP, or hide the active SIP. I think since I wrote mine other better apps have been released, search for SIPSwitch to find them.
Here's a thread to my old one:

Works very well! Thank Vijay555!
So, I recently purchased a new Motorola bluetooth keyboard for my tablet, and I'm going a little mad with the fact that I can't figure out how to use other keyboard layouts from QWERTY. In particular, I'd like to use Dvorak, but the closest solution that I can come up with is to try to remap the keys. I've seen a few other posts on remapping keys on other devices, but I can't seem to find anything that relates to the usual letter keys. Everything out there seems to be for launching apps or something else.
Can anyone help point me in the right direction? I'm sure that I'll have to edit some root files, and I'm ok with doing that, but I'd like to have a decent idea of what I'm doing before I go messing around with things that I don't fully understand.
Thanks in advance,
-Sam
Try adding a vendor/product id file for your keyboard in /system/usr/keylayout/ with the desired mapping of the keys. Should work for usb keyboards (haven't tried it yet), probably will work for bt ones too.

I'd be happy to put the time into doing that, but I have no experience in how to do that. Can you point me in the right direction so I can learn/ figure out how to do that?

Well I haven't done that myself but it might help looking at the generic file. From what I understand you have to map the whole keyboard with the key functions you'd like. For example when you press 'q' you might want to have 'a' coming on the screen. The hard part is guessing the key numbers (it's easy for the letters - they are in the generic file, but special keys like ctrl, alt, win, etc. are harder to find) and finding your product/vendor id. As I said that should work with usb keyboards, but I'm not sure at all if that's the right approach for bt ones. Try google before wasting your time on something that might not work at all - someone must have bumped at the same case as you.

So, I've tried to follow the directions from that tutorial as closely as I can and I keep having problems. It seems like every time I try to edit the .kl file for my keyboard it doesn't work at all. It's definitely pretty frustrating spending a bunch of time editing the key and command codes for every button to find out that it didn't even do anything.
Anybody figure this out yet? I'm really struggling.
If it helps, I can try to break down what I've done so far in another post, but I'm at like 3.5 hours on this project alone tonight and don't feel like I've really gotten anywhere with this.
Gah, now I feel like an idiot. I was doing it right the whole time, the one crucial step that I messed up in the process was deleting the old .kl before pasting the new one in.
Finally got it working. I may post a tutorial on this later since others are having difficulty with this as well.
Thanks to tkolev and Judgemental for the posts and help.
My tutorial can be found here if you've happened to stumble upon this thread before finding it.
