giving dirs to added rom files and adding register keys

hello all ,
i'm trying to cook "eye on the thief" a anti thieft program , into my rom.
Two problems pop up.
I have to cook in a file in a dir.
In the wm5 rom editing tool thread it's stated that all files are placed into the /windows dir and then moved by coldinit according to initflashfiles.dat.
but where can i find initflash.dat?
next isue ....
the program stores it's data in the register.
so on init or startup i need to write some data to the register.
a .reg file like in windows won't work.
is there anyway of doing this ,
or
if i add the keys to boot.rgu will they also be in the normal register??

Hidden files and registry after Rom upgrade, what's up ?

Hi !
I've just upgrade my 9000 with Rom 1.30.89 ITA
With the previous Rom I can move shortcuts in Start>Programs in sub-folders created by me (for example: PIE in a folder called Web)
But now i see the shortcuts (of the pre-installed applications in Rom as Word, Excel, Agenda....) in Programs are hidden files and I can't move to my customized folders, i get an error !
I have an italian OS and the error is "Accesso negato" (probably in English is "Access denied")
Same error when i try to modify the registry from PC with Mobile Registry Editor or Smartione.
What's up ? :shock:
Is not my first Pocket PC and with all my past device i always was able to move folders in Programs and edit the registry from PC, but now I don't know what can I do...
Anyone with this issue ?

answer
cut and paste the shortcut icons. you will have to have any start menu aplications closed to do this. It will give you an error if you try to move those icons if you don't close those programs also clear out all the checkmarks under start-settings-menu. this should help

I had this issue as well on my Dopod 900. These files seem to be classified as System Files now and are hidden.
I was using Resco File Explorer and it could not see these files. But checking the box "Show All Files", the files could be seen and moved.
Using File Explorer though, I am pretty sure that it sees the files with no problems. You can move them but you get a prompt saying that this might cause some problems with other software. Just have to click OK and it moves it.

Thanks sandrobber, I always close all the running application before moving the shortcuts and I clear all the checkmarks

You're right when you say "These files seem to be classified as System Files now and are hidden."
Anyway thanks for your suggestion, I can move files with TotalCommander also (not only Resco) and modify the registry with PHM RegEditor
Obviously both installed in my 9000
But i would like move files and modify registry from my PC....
Ps: This is strange for me, I always was able to move files with ActiveSync and modify registry with Smartione without any problems.....

It does'nt work.
I tried to do what in "Leo Hints & Tips" for exp:
"1. Enable Hidden Default Games
Go to the Windows directory and copy bubblebreaker.exe and solitaire.exe to the games folder as shortcuts in Windows\Start Menu. Make sure to unhide system files to see the games listed."
I can't copy files as instructed (working with total commander) and if the files were copied I can't reach/see them.

I think you may have misunderstood the original instructions.
Open file manager (not total commander) and navigate to Windows folder.
Locate the file BubbleBreaker (it's 46K, not one of the others)
Highlight it and keep it pressed till you get the menu with "Copy" in it. Do Copy.
Scroll back to the top and go into "Start Menu\Programs\Games".
Do "Menu, Edit, Paste Shortcut".
As I'm a pedant, I renamed the shortcut, removing the "Shortcut to" prefix.
Then, when you go Start Menu & then Games, BubbleBreaker is in there.
Now I've just done that exactly as typed above, whilst describing it for you, so it should work for you.
Let us know if you still have a problem.

Hi,
I've made the change & so could shortcut the Games as suggested (great tip btw) - but when i go to do the same thing with "eT9MyWords.exe" i can't see it in the Windows directory or find it when i search.....
Any suggestions?

Don't know what to say mate - it's in my Windows folder. There's a bunch of files called eT9.Rhodium.xxxx and then eT9MyWords is after them (directly after eT9DeadKeys).
I take it you did unhide system files as previously suggested? (I'm not sure if you need to do that for the games suggestion).

I have a slide deferent question. I would like to delet exe file from thew windows folder but I can't because I can't select Delete, have anyone some advice?

delete exe file
it has been awhile since i have done this, also some files are impossible or almost impossible to delete.
if you have been trying to do it from ur phone, go instead, to your active sync/windows mobility center. click file mgt and browse contents of device, navigate to the exe u want to delete. i have done it before and it has worked on several ocassions. be careful on what u r deleting, you may want to do a google on it b/f u do it
if this does not do it, i got no clue hope this helps someone

[TUTORIAL]How To Translate Manila 2D V2

Hello XDA Community!​
How to translate Manila 2d v2 or any other variants of it.
Follow the following steps:
1- go to windows folder and take Manila2D.exe.409.mui (the number 409 may be different )
2- download file editor suit
3- put the manila2d.409.mui in unsign folder
4- run unsigner.exe
5- download reshacker open res hacker and press file --> open --> and select Manila 2d .exe.409.mui
6- change what do you want (if you want to change only m2d tabs name just go to string tabel then 7 then select 1033 and change it)
7- go to sign folder and select signer.exe
8- select manila 2d .0409.mui
9- select SDKSampelPrivDeveloper
10- select start sign process
11- take manila2d.0409.exe.mui to windows folder and enjoy.
12- don't forget to backup Manila2D.exe.××××.mui
Through this, you can translate m2d v2 without any problem (like not showing letters)

you can select open all files and res hacker will open it

Hello
I have copied the file Manila2D.exe.0409.mui to my computer from the phone,
it has been translated into Swedish by Reshacker.
But now when I try to copy it back to the phone in the windows directory.
can not,
can not overwrite the file or delete it. Someone who knows how to do this? phone is a Samsung i900 omnia

you could try to copy to storage card and then use for example Resco Explorer on your phone to overwrite the old file in windows directory...

Hi I cant even get the file to my desktop also have a i900. I would really like your translation in swedish. How do I get the "manila2d.409.mui" to desktop? Copy it and put in to a folder, but it dosent show in windows, on the desktop......
Would you share your's if you got it to work?

You should make your windows show up hidden and system files

really strange I'm doing like that and no text on my screen
or doesn't it work on Vista ?

hello to all i have created a mortscript but i did not able to create a shortcut in startmenu with packages maker.....will anyone please help me how to create a shotcut with mortscript because packages maker only show the "exe" files.

Like that. Just put in your script name, put it in a .txt file and change the extension to .lnk.
Total Commander is a great tool for making links.
Since you're using mortscript, you can also use the createshortcut command to make the shortcut, like this:

I didn't have the script in code tags, so it had a space in the second 'windows'; maybe that was the problem. It should work fine; my whole start menu (100+ shortcuts) is created that way. You just need to have the correct path to the script you want linked.

are i add these entries ina rgu or in my created script

They go in a mortscript; you also need to put an EXEC command into an add2config.txt file to get the script to run (and mortscript has to be cooked in).

Thanks once again ....i put m'y scripts into m'y Windows folder and i havé created a new note.txt and i add m'y entries like u havé marked and i rénamed thé txt to mscr but when i want to test thé script before cooking it gives a error ...i havé mortscript installed ...Will i add some thing Else in m'y script or ...is it possible to upload a sample script for creating shortcut?

Do the cheaters method, and find your file in the windows directory of your device, then select and copy, finally paste as shortcut in storage card. Move shortcut off storage card. Done.

What's the error? I'm guessing there's just some syntax that's off. You should try each script one at a time (comment out all but one at a time with #'s).

now its ok bro ur entries worked now and i added into config.text now its creates the shortcuts automatically after flash.....
