I have tom tom and gps 2 google earth.
I want to use tom tom for navigation and gps2googleearth to save my path.
The problem is that only one program can access the virtual serial port of the bt gps receiver (holux gpslim).
I have used the registry hack to show the GPS icon at settings->connections.
My gps is at COM7.
I created a virtual port (COM8) in order to allow more than one program to access the GPS.
The think is that some programs work at COM8 but TomTom doesn't. (it only works with the real port 7...)
Is there any way to do that ?
Thanks.
Has anyone successfully had a navigation package running via the GPS ID (intermediate driver) that comes shipped with WM5 on an XDA Exec? I have enabled the feature using the registry change to set "Hide" to zero, and configured it to find my Bluetooth GPS receiver.
The software I developed (which uses the GPSGetPosition() API call, not a serial port) works perfectly well. But I have tried the Dell Navigation software and found that it will not work via the program port. My customers report the same (or similar) problems with TomTom Navigator 5 and CoPilot 5.
Obviously my next step is to try Navigon 5 (which works on my Axim x51 via the GPS ID) on the Exec and see if it works the same way, which would help me narrow down the fault to the driver or the nav software. But I just wondered if anyone has actually seen this working on the Exec?
i don't have a gps (yet ;-) but i would think that Pocket Streets (shipped with Autoroute) would support it, as it's a Microsoft application.
Well, the whole point of the way it works is that anything that works with a serial NMEA GPS output should support it. Just seems a little coincidental that between me and two customers we've now had three nav systems that don't like it, all on the same platform.

Orbit2-- GPS cannot be detected with IGO PLS HELP?!?!?
I have a HUGE problem with getting my GPS running on my Orbit2. It came from O2 with CoPilot7 preinstalled with the maps of UK and Ireland, which I dont use, because I am not located inthere, nevertheless Copilot detects GPS signal and shows positioning, but i dint have the maps for the area that i am in.
I tried to install IGO6 and then IGO8 but I have the same problem-- it cannot detect GPS device, no matter what which COMM Port and BAUD Rate I select.
How come CoPilot detects, and IGO does not? I read that Orbit2 is not locked?!?
Should I boot the whole device using some other ROM.
This may be a silly question but, have you configured the GPS in iGO?
So you are not in Europe? I ask because the CoPilot Disk allows any country (or the whole) of europe (or is that just western, can't remember).
IGO has an option to auto detect the best settings, that is what you should use.
I use IGo with Orbit2 and it works!
Use Autodetection or set the Com-Port to 4 and Baud to 57600...
what options are there for external gps? is their just a gps receiving antana making gps tracking possible, or do you have to use a full gps system and just use the wing to integrate that data in google maps?
Hi there,
I'm terribly newbie with Jade, so sorry........
I have installed TomTom navigator 7 but GPS doesn't work (I cannot fix sats).
Which GPS must I set in TT configuration?
- integrated GPS receiver
- cabled receiver
- other receiver GPS NMES
And what about com port??
thanks

see in this post
integrated GPS receiver is the one.
When testing, dont expect it to work indoors...
Thank you, that's right for the internal receiver.
Now I've got another problem: I cannot see the sat bar during navigation (I can see the bar but it's empty - no sats locked, even if TT is working right) and I cannot see locked sats in GPS status menu.........
Moreover, when I select a destination if I press "C" letter (only C, with other letters everything is ok) TT stops working and I must reset it.
Can you help me please?
My TT version is 7.450.9028
Thank you
