gps options - Wing, P4350 General

what options are there for external gps? is their just a gps receiving antana making gps tracking possible, or do you have to use a full gps system and just use the wing to integrate that data in google maps?

is xperia GPS-a or GPS built-in ?
thanks

GPS
And the locking is extremely fast
X1 has a built in A-GPS.
I'm not sure why that's important if it's the one or the other...
The X1 has both; GPS and a-GPS
GPS is the normal GPS using signals from satellites. A-GPS uses the telephone pole signals to locate your position. GPS is more accurate than a-GPS but a-GPS is faster.
Update the satellite information using the included QuickGPS application and the locking is even faster. Mere seconds to get a lock.

Not entirely true!
"Assisted GPS, generally abbreviated as A-GPS, enhances the startup performance of a GPS satellite-based positioning system." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-GPS
There are several a-GPS solutions, but those used in pocket pc-s use the GSM or UMTS network to download the almanac data from an assistance server, thus reducing the fix time for the GPS receiver.
So let's be clear: GPS and a-GPS are NOT two different receivers, therefore a-GPS is not less accurate. a-GPS is an enhancement of GPS, and it is commonly used in all pocket pc phones or smart phones equipped with a GPS receiver.
The GSM cell based positining, what you are talking about is used mainly by Google maps, and can be applied on any smart phone without the need of a GPS receiver. The accuracy is very low. This positioning method does not have anything to do with GPS satellite based positioning system.
Anyway it's funny how every post about gps people always argue that agps is internal simple gps but can also be assisted by network. All say the same thing basically but with different words
anyway im soooo happy with the gps of X1
Is the best ive ever seen. and i had n95 8gb tytnII and diamond.

to turn off gps radio:
start> settings> phone>
select services on the bottom tab.
"get settings" for "location setting"
Hi, I have tried every way to use Google Maps with the GPS signal, not more work, to enable the GPS diamond, so that another program ultilize the internal gps, go to Settings, external GPS, select a port that programs use the gps, ex. com2, that the first flap of the external gps in the last tab, select the option to manage the windows gps, ready, in the GPS program, ex. IGO8, select the COM port you chose in ABA First, it was!

Set the GPS receiver to another one and change the port and baud rate.
