Hello guys , i hope a post this right
I am going to buy a new phone soon and I am looking on this HTC HD and i have read a lots of reviews and watched many videos , and I am now wondering should i buy this or the HTC Touch Pro or antother HTC?
I have read many posts at this forum and I have som problem to choose
Sorry for the bad english
I think nobody is able to answer this question for you at all. Its a good device, but HTC Touch Pro is also not as bad .
It all depends on what you need. If you are sending out a lot of emails and text messages, the Touch Pro might be a better choice because of the hardware keyboard. I say might because the large screen of the Touch HD makes using a SIP very effective as well.
But if you are looking for a multimedia phone, the Touch HD is the way to go.
So why don't you start by letting us know what you need it for?
Well ,
I send alots of sms but I think you will get use to the on-screen keyboard, just you get use to everything else.
Surf on the web is also a thing I do much... but the thing i do most is listen to music , and take some photos but not that much.
Whatch som movies never hits wrong.
This post was messy xD hope you understand
well it looks like the Touch HD will suit you just fine
But i wonder one thing, is it many problems with it? many says is god and many says its bad , but what i have seen the most can i find here , many solutions and fixeses
Overall, it's the best device around! And XDA has many tweeks, fixes, & even cooked roms!!
Thx guys , all thats is left now it to get the money xD
Yea man, after having the VOGUE, DIAMOND, and TOUCH PRO (which im still trying to sell) the HD is the phone i would and will go with. Thing is, i am on sprint, so once i get the phone imported, i will have to jump ship, but after having some hands-on time with the phone, trust me, it will be worth it. It's a shame that this phone isn't coming to the U.S. but, as far as rumors go......the G2 maybe an equivalent of the HD????

yeh, that's the best rumor I've heard in awhile...it would be awesome!!
Just wanted to say since I've had my Touch HD I've had countless support from everyone on here, theres too many names to mention, but today, I received my Touch Pro 2 and will be leaving this forum... (only down the road though, 2 doors down I think).
Never been a better set of people working with a device and I thank each and everyone of you, especially the chefs and their support teams, without you my HD would be no where near as good as it is now.
Hopefully you will all be getting a Touch Pro 2 and coming to help me there, but until then, I'll only be in this forum in dribs and drabs helping where I can until I sell my HD.
Au revoir!

NICE... Congrats Pal. I will be seeing you shortly in that section too. I am waiting for T-Mobile to release that device for us here in the US so that we'll have the 3G capabilities .
But Touch HD would still be one of the top devices I have used.
I will chk out your reivew on the TouchPro (Rhodium) section if you have one.
Congrats on your new mobile.
I need a help from you if possible.
Iam also planning to buy a touch pro 2.
But, it will be really helpful for me if you can give me few details about your new phone.
1. Is it having the same yellowish tint as Touch HD screen?
2. Have you tested the out of box video playback ? is it the same as HD or any improvement (I mean some updates video drivers??
3. What about the battery life? (too early i know , but still)
Thanks in advance
Goodluck and congrats on your new device my friend...
have fun, moved thread to blackstone
But why do you leave this beautiful thin device THD and get this ugly fatty TP2?
Nice mate,
i wish you all the best there.
i wanted to get a TP2 but it was not yet released when i flushed my X1 so i got HD.
btw TP2 has a 0.2 inches smaller screen, can u live with that?
for me, i will not get a TP2 unless an external KB is essential.
best of luck

Haha, I know what you mean, but with this device being narrower and a bit fatter, it actually feels better in the hand. Plus I want a hardware KB, this has it where the HD obviously don't. Love both devices, can't fault either.

You don't really notice the difference, whats 0.2"!!! No seriously, you don't notice the difference but the screen does look a lot clearer than the HD for some reason, I thought they were the same. Seems more responsive too.
Has more on front too, nice to have a Start Menu button and a home button as well as the hardware Zoom slider, Front notificaiton light is always nice too

Will let you know these, haven't tested them as yet. Not sure what you mean about the yellowish tint?? Video playback I would imagine is the same as this is driver issue not hardware.
Battery life actually has a monitor on it from last full charge, so will let you know in next few days about that, fully charging it now so tomorrow will be day 1
Congrats on your new device!
Personally i prefer those 0.2" and a 3.5mm jack
Congrats on your TP2!! I'm doing the same once it arrives in the USA 7/22 for T-Mobile 3G!!

I was the same as you to be honest, a little bit pesemistic about the tp2 as I had my Blackstone, I didn't know what could be better, but I needed the hw kb.
To my amazement, the screen is clearer and more responsive, but don't get me wrong, if it wasn't for the hw kb, I wouldn't have changed.
Love both devices, just waiting for HSPL and roms to start flying about

Ok, again, not had chance to check video but will be doing that later today.
Battery.... A nice feature is that when you go into settings--power, there is an information tab at the end, which displays the time you have used it.
So far, my battery has depleated 11% (I'm on 89% left) with factory stock ram and so far I have...
19 hours, 10 minutes standby
41 minutes talktime
44 minutes device usage
Device usage is just when you have the device out of standby, whilst I've been doing this I've installed about 15 programs, set up Tom Tom, used Tom Tom for 10 minutes and also been playing with settings... So far I'm quite impressed.
I've also sent/received 32 text messages.
Hope this helps
Think I'll hold off purchasing any new phones until something comes along and blows my mind away. Unfortunately the TP2 didn't do this for me, but have fun anyhow.
@ nicelad_uk - Best of luck with your new baby. I hope you were well rested beorehand mate
So it seems to be there will be two upcoming Xperia phones. The Xperia X2 and the Xperia Rachael... so which Xperia are u interested in most?
X2, I don't care about android yet, if I ever will.

Seconded. The keyboard is nice too. Android looks promising at the moment, but that's it.
Thirded on that one.
Hardware Keyboard is essential, I can never type fast with a touch keyboard.
the customized Android UI does look very nice on the X3/X5, but the X2 is definitely my winner!

Yeah, although Android UI on SE visualization looks so cool
and leaked specs are great.
But indeed nothing is so complete and productive as WM ATM.
So my choice is X2.
i prefer the racheal,
it looks so sleek and expensive, would love to give android a try. However the lack of hardware keyboard is a killer.
I would need to hold them both first before making a decision, but i think if i did ill run away with them both.
Shame on the shop that puts two xperias in my hand
Sold my X1 and I will def. be getting the Rachael. Does the X2 have the same h/w specs as the X1 besides the camera?

Not confirmed really by anyone.
Rachael specs from rumours seem great.
Rachael, I'm really interested in Android as an OS. I don't have any interest in WM anymore.
Rachel for me. Can't wait for it. I have been using Windows Mobile for a long time, need a change. I think Android will be very good once it hits 2.0.
If the Rachel had a hardware keyboard i would definately go with it, but i really like the keyboard on the X1 and it is the main feature that first got me interested in it. Also does Android offer sync with e-mail based on MS Outlook?

Probably not as well as many other features.

i think certain softwares contribute to this hard reset issue, i dont experience this hard reset thing unless i install an application thinking it will work then it freeze other than that my machine is ok meaning no need to reboot
for me the android looks interesting, but i will wait til something come along looking sexier than the x1...btw its good to see orelsi with a change of heart about the leaked x2 lol...i still think its ugly and i wont be getting it, even if its free
i would buy another x1 before i buy the x2, i hardly use my cam and i dont need an accelerometer anyway
perhaps just bad luck?
I never have to hard reset my X1.

I'll never agree on that one.
x2 looks very good.
I don't think I'm going for either phone unfortunately.
Rachael lacks the keyboard.
X2's keyboard not satisfactory enough, and the screen is indeed 3.2 inches which is not big enough for my tastes.

Personall I think the X1 keyboard is the most beautiful keyboard of all phones. However, the X2's front face is ****ing beautiful when you hide the ugly keyboard.
Just got an X10, i've been using Legend for some days now (im in the business, as you might imagine)
The first thing that struck me: the keyboard... It doesn't register all key presses, compared to the Legend, it's really frustrating to writing on X10.
I've been happy with the speed on Legend, and thought that X10 would be even more blazing fast. But it isn't. Actually, its slower (!) I tried install Raging Thunder II on both phones, and it's running more smooth on the Legend.
X10 have way better hardware, but an older OS. Don't know how much this has to do with the fact that X10 seems slower than the Legend.
Would be interesting if the Desire ROM could be installed on X10
For now, I feel that HTC has done a way better job, customizing Android on a phone, and i'm gonna stick to Legend as my primary phone. But gonna use X10 for some weeks with twin simcard. Just want to test it properly
Try SmartKeyboardPro on X10. Must better that Standart Keyboard.
Try Asphalt 5 on X10 to see whats a good game
What compilation do you have? IE, your firmware.
Where did you get the X10? are you in the UK?

Yes. I think there's a free version named SmartKeyboard (without pro). If not try to change from standart keyboard to Android Keyboard.
X10 keyboard has a good layout but doesnt register some key. I had the same problem you have.

Yeah
The screen is really nice. big and high res.
I don't mean, and try to be negative about X10. Guess I really was a bit surprised that i found Legend (low cost Android compared to X10) to be a better phone.. for now.. It might just be that Android 2.1 runs way better. I don't know.. But ok. i'll be fair. Going to update this post in a few days, gonna use them both for a few weeks
did you purchase it from an online store or did you get it from a business or something?
My delayed X10 arrives tommorow...
Ive also used the Legend since it came, and love it!!!
However, its the X10 I was looking forward too....
So, Ill give it the easter vacation to make a decition on what phone to keep...
Probabely both....

Multi-touch zoom will not work in Dolphin, or any other software. SE have confirmed that the X10 lacks any kind of hardware multi-touch support. No hardware, means no support. Period.

The legend feels 10 times as good...
And dont get me started on exchange integration.. That part is just a joke...
It works kind of... But its just a mess....
And I who really was looking forward to this phone :/
I'm thinking of buying the HTC HD2 but is there much point now, if it won't be getting updated and newer and better phones are coming out?
I'm looking at it as it has the biggest screen(besides the streak which im also considering, but much more expensive)
What would you suggest?

Over the last couple of years, ive only used the bold 9000, HTC Desire and iPhone 4, however i sent back the iphone 4 as the ui is getting very boring.
I use the phone more for texts and internet than phone, i primarily want to use it for web browsing, thats why the streak appealed to me, but this is cheaper, im just worried about updates, and the lack of official support after WP7

I can't wait until the end of 2010 i have no phone at present lol. Also im in the UK so the Evo is a no go otherwise i would definitely have it.
if you like bets, get one now.
If the bet goes well, you will buy a "cheap" device which will get a fully functional froyo OS on it when the android devteam has completed the job, and be almost at the level of the Evo, without its bulkiness... and before the thing goes out and the demand increases, making the prices go higher.
If the bet goes bad, you still get a cheap but powerful device with WM on it
Anyway, given my experience with the device, and the market which is available for italy, I would get it again now as well.

Try before you buy my friend.
I've been using winmo for years and I love it. The HD2 is my favorite device yet.
Winmo users generally love to tweak. These forums make tweaking fun and you can usually get whatever you need, want and more for your phone if you're willing to search for it.
That being said, some find winmo and the HD2 an utter frustration. Some lament about buying the HD2 because it doesn't do everything right out of the box.
So if you like to customise, tweak and experiment, you may just love the HD2.
If you like something that works to it's full potential right out of the box, but may not be quite so custimisable and tweakable, perhaps another platform would be better.
i really NEVER recommend ppl a windows phone.. except i know that he can handle it.
i dont know u, so i would recommend android
u NEED to know what u do when u are using winmo, or u will hate it
The more I read about WM7, the more I am glad I have a WM6.5 phone, and I'm not planning to 'upgrade' to such a locked down platform.

I love tweaking, which is another reason for considering this phone, and which is why i got rid of the iPhone 4.
I love the idea of registry tweaks, which may sound weird, and i also love the idea of a winmo device being just like windows on the pc (regarding registry tweaks).
And regarding having everything work out of the box, i find that very boring, im always looking to do new things with a phone.
The only problem i am seeing is the future updates, looking at Android they are going to have constant updates, but obviously winmo 6.5 is not. however if i know that winmo will be getting unofficial updates from devs etc i will be more than happy to buy the HD2.
Thanks for all the replies so far.
Ok, i went ahead and bought a HD2, hopefully i'll enjoy it.

i have to say i agree about the screen.. i have a hd2 and my friend got a desire soon after me.. the screen estate difference is just HUGE...
and i recently ran the android test build side by side with his phone screen beside mine.. the difference just got worse coz the widget icons are much smaller in android compared to the quick link icons in winmo..

Awesome, i cant wait for my HD2 now .
I was getting sick of the headaches after surfing the web on my iPhone 4 due to the small screen.
good choice.....
you made a good choice op. hd2 is my first wm phone and i'll admit, i love it. the tweaking on the phone is good fun. at the moment im running CHT and SPB Mobile Shell side by side as well as having loads of other little tweaks to make the phone my own. theres a ton of really good apps and software floating about the net.
The only bad point i can think of is Opera's non support of 10.1 for wm6.5. Skyfire's pretty usefull for flash though so all's not lost. i'm sure you will love your new phone bud......
