I have wm6 and installed imsms ( I know its old and not supported anymore- but was hoping for the best) and it worked good for the 1st day. Then it stopped receiving and stopped autostarting. I tried uninstall, reinstall. Nothing, so I tried a couple of other SMS programs also all with the same results, they dont receive or auto start. I can send from all of them fine, but all incoming text messages go to the default wm6 messaging even if I leave the program running
I really want threading as imsms has but am at a loss.
Is there a setting/ registry I can change or something else I am missing that will redirect incoming to the program of my choice ( I would prefer imsms - but something similar would be fine)??

All operator settings are correct. I can send SMS and they are delivered, but (problem #1) outgoing SMS are not stored in the folder "Outbox".
Then, I can't receieve any SMS (#2). Actually, I do receive them, but the only way to learn about that is to keep looking on the screen, because when the device is turned off it will turn on for awhile and that's all. Messages are not even stored in device, so I can't read any of them.
Concerning e-mail: similar problems but not the same. I do not receive notification message or any sound. But incoming e-mails are stored and standart outlook says "x unread messages" or something like that. Outgoing mails are not stored either.
What I tried to solve these problem:
1. made a Backup - removed ALL installed programs = didn't help.
2. hard reset - everything works fine - restore Backup - sucks again...
I'm a newbie user of such kind of devices and a little bit desperate at the moment, so I would appreciate any help.
Thanks beforehand.
First ragarding the SENT ITEM, in OPTION you must enable this option
in SMS go to TOOLS then Option and put a check mark under "save a copy of sent messages in the sent item folder" (or something like this, I'm just translating French to English)
Second: after your hard reset, install your programs one at the time, and see if this still work.
Do not use your backup.
So you can see what program is interfering with the SMS fonction
And you can then eliminate the program that mess with your SMS
Hope that help
Somebody cracked/hacked the OS SMS app and posted it over on PDAPhoneHome:
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70428
It's working on my 8125 so far. It's kind of limited (all notifications and SMS related events still open the Outlook/Text Message app), but if you're having a conversation with one person it seems to work nicely.

o2sms
i have been using this program and its great, i keep it minimized so when i get a text i just hit the icon and just use it for my sms. the only problem i have is i wish i didnt have to manually open the message so that the notification goes away. i have been looking for a reg hack that will still notify me via tone and vibration when a text comes in, but doesnt sit in the notification area. i aslo use pocketplus which allows you to preview texts and reply from them from the today screen, and right now im kind of torn between the two.
Hmmmm...I'm not using PocketPlus and I can also preview text messages and reply from the Today screen, are you sure that's not a WM5 attribute?
But you're right, it would be nice to have all the alerts, and default SMS handling go through this app, and I know there are some developers working on just that. But until then, this helps a bit.
I only use it when I get a message that I expect to turn into a conversation with lots of back and forth dialog. Most are ask/answer/done or just informational, but a few I get during my week I can pretty easily tell will involve several back and forth points. Other's text usage may not be so clear cut so this partial functionality is not good enough.

O2SMS
I am using the wizard and used the O2SMS programs for a few months. I often use the program to send to a group. I notice sometimes that while sending out to his group (1 by 1) the program will stop sending and close. Does anyone else have this issue..if not any suggestions to fix
thanks
screenshot please
I've used O2 SMS Plus also, but I must say that Palm Messaging is more, if not fully!, intergrated in the "system"
yes
i love palm messaging
Could somebody give me the registry settings which tells Windows Mobile 5.0 which application to use to open SMS messages.
I suppose this will be some settings, like you can change the default mail client or internet browser client. But I can't find anywhere the settings for the default mail client.
So when a new SMS (or MMS) message arrives, I want to read it with the application I have chosen.
I know this must be possible, sinds FlexMail changes the default sms beviour to let FlexMail open SMS messages... But FlexMail is too slow to handle my SMS's, I prefer the fast O2 SMS application http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/showthread.php?s=6f76aa0ed39258637a0e06904265c6a8&t=70428

Need same solution after installing FlexMail
I installed FlexMail and have found that it will not send SMS messages reliably. I tried to uninstall it, but can't seem to access the default SMS/MMS application. I can't find it in the registry ... messaging still defaults to wismail, which cannot be found (after uninstallation). Any ideas>
Anybody knows the solution to this? I tried the O2 sms aplication and I think its great, but I can't find a way to set it as default!
Try reading the SDK about the SMS transport and SMS interception. It's quite easy, but not for beginners.

That rules me out then!

Click to collapse
to reset the default sms handling, (so FlexMail will not be used anymore, but the standard Mail application will be used) :

I didn't find a way to make the 02 sms application the default...

Anyone knows a solution ? I really want to use Vito SMS Chat..
bump.. want to know as well.
I'm eager to know the answer.
Hi
After install the ROM upgrade 220736_2207116_024721_SPA, I've realized I'm not able to send any SMS. Only can answer to the ones I receive.
I have tried to modify the Registry deleting even the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\ActiveSync
and adding it after, but no way, remain the same.
Always when I try to create a new message is the Outlook Message who takes the control. I can see the message in the Outlook messaging window (sent messages) but really never went out
Does anyone know what could be happening ?
Thanks in advance
I really like having threaded sms built into WM6.1. I'm using DCD's 3.0.4 kitchen and it seems that ever since I've been using the standard text messaging program I've been having problems.
1. After a soft reset I lose some of the more recent messages in my inbox.
2. After a soft reset my phone will randomly resend an older message. I've tried to find a pattern as to which gets resent, but there isn't one.
I have tried many things to fix these problems, but nothing seems to work. I'm back to using the Palm threaded sms app, but I really preferred the native threaded sms. Does anyone have solutions to either of these problems or am I the only person with these problems?
