Scroll in lines instead of pages in P.Iexplorer - Touch 3G General

In pocket internet explorer, when you scroll with the 4 way pad, you go 1 page up or down.
When reading a forum or news item this is very annoying. Is there a way to change the page jump to (1 or 2)lines jump?
the register tweak :
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Navigation/4-Way Nav = 1
or
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Navigation/4-Way Nav = 0
doesn't change very much
Does anyone know a tweak?
Thanks in advance

You are using Internet Explorer ?

Well, yes... it's not a crime though
but i'd like to scroll line by line without a stylus.

My sentiments exactly

Some site i visit are not fully compatible with opera mobile.

the topic is not why i'm using this app. but how to scroll line by line.

Have you tried Opera Mini ?

Scrolling in contacts, web pages, emails etc.

Hi all,
Getting quite used to my TyTN now and it's a superb tool.
My question is difficult to explain but here goes:
When I am reading emails, looking through contacts etc. and I'm using the thumbwheel, it goes to the end then basically does a page down. it won't scroll around the centre once it gets there....
My point is that when reading en email quickly, for example, I like to scroll down before I finish the page... If I do this with the thumbwheel it swaps the current page for the next one that fits on the screen - or to the next link...
Is there anyway to get it to cycle smoothly? maybe a bit like scroll lock or something?
Sorry for the dodgy explanation...
Regards
You want it to be able to scroll one or a few lines at a time right?
Me too.
There was a thread somewhere around here a while back asking the same thing...never did get a solution.
Yep that's exactly what I mean. I'll keep hunting. Maybe there's a way of hooking the scroll lock for this sort of thing...
i'll keep a-hunting
let's see if this is what your looking for:
C/P from the wiki....
Navigate without stylus
The default behaviour for your device's four-way direction button in Pocket Internet Explorer (PIE) is to jump between hyperlinks/form fields on a web page. To change this behaviour so that the button scrolls the page left, right, up and down, use the following tweak:
\HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Navigation\4-Way Nav = 0 (DWORD decimal)And to re-enable hyperlink/form field navigation:
\HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Navigation\4-Way Nav = 1 (DWORD decimal)You may still jump between links using Tab and Shift-Tab using the built-in hardware keyboard
But that doesn't work with email or opera...
To get smooth scrolling in Opera you have to edit the .ini file. Menneisys has instrustions and edited files on his blog. You can also find instructions on the Opera forums.

You CAN scroll one line at a time in PIE.
Problem is it's not the easiest thing to do physically but it is possible.
Tap and hold the little scroll block on the right and now when you use the scroll wheel it wil move up or down one line at a time.

Use jogwheel as smooth page scroll in PIE?

Hi all...
I was wondering if there was a hack or something available to make the jogwheel perform a smooth scroll in PIE instead of scrolling through the links?
I did a search but didn't find anything.
TIA!
in wiki, you can find the registry hack that will allow up/down and scroll wheel to page down rather than hyperlink jumps.
the hack only refers to up down controls, but it works the same on the jog wheel.
there are heaps of other wonderful hacks there also if you havent already been there.
Look under WIKI, down the bottom WM5 Registry hacks.
Yes that's absolutely right - use the Wiki
If you have Tweaks2k2 this has a setting to do the change for you.
Note that changing to smooth scrolling changes the TAB behaviour when writing SMS e-mails and you can no longer tab from the "To" box to the body of the message.
Smooth scrolling avoids the link to link scrolling but will scroll a page at a time. I have not found anything that scrolls one line at a time (though very strangely it randomly does scroll a line at a time!!)

Aha, so that's why the tab function does not work anymore in my sms app! thanks for this info.
Cool, thanks for the info!
I'm not worried about the To field in SMS messages. I don't normally use the jogwheel to change between To and the message body.
It's too bad that there isn't built-in functionality for the wheel like in Windows for the mousewheel, choosing to scroll 1 line, 6 lines, or a page at a time.

The Wiki is the fount of all knowledge. Well not quite but - the Wiki is a site within XDA-Developers that contains information on those things about the Hermes (TyTn) that are largely sorted out. It has general info, specific info, technical info, solutions to problems and of course the stuff for those true developers - the ROM guru stuff as well as info on flashing, upgrading etc. Here is the link - save it but if you loose it there is a sticky post at the top of the Hermes 1st page of Hermes posts that takes you to it!

Hi, I use pieplus+, you can adjust the jogwheel scroll settings to what says line, I think its similar to the scroll in tweaks2k2..its a lot better that the default, that's all I know, but the main thing I did notice is that the tab to field with the jogwhee stil works on sms, email..etc.
Just throwin that out there, I rarely use the jogwheel on sms, mails myself.
Yeah pieplus worked in that department for me as well!

How to increase to 9tabs in Opera9.5?

I just found the maximum tabs in udK R2/R3/R4 is 9, but other ROMs and official edition of Opera9.5 is only 3.
How can i increase it to 9tabs in non-udK ROMs? Which register?
Thanks!
1. Just type "Opera:config" (without " and http://) in Opera Mobile
2. Search for "Tab"
3. From there you will see Maximum Allowed Tabs = 3 .... change that to any number you want

Thanks very much!
I found Maximum Allowed Tabs in User Prefs option. Oh its a long menu.
I had already discovered the about:config but had missed the part with the tabs. So thanks for this great tip!

Opera 10 Beta

I have just downloaded and started to use Opera 10 Beta. Gotta say that it is a fantastic browser, definitely a step forward from 9.7. There is practically no 'checker board' when browsing pages and it is super smooth, seems to use less memory too so i would recommend it to anyone.
One problem though is that the zoom bar doesn't work on the D2. Not suprised to be honest but does anyone know of a simple fix? I know there was a fix for 9.7 on the LEO ROM's so maybe someone knows if that will work for 10.
Also the browser doesn't rotate anymore when the phone is put in landscape? But agree with #1, looks like an improvement!

Didn't like
I didn't like the beta and uninstalled it because the rotate and zoom didn't work. I have the HTC Pure. But now when I click on the internet button which used to pull up opera, it pulls up internet explorer. How can I switch that back to opera. I can still get to the old opera but through the start menu, so I know it is still on the phone. Is there a customizer to do that?

Which ROM are you using? I'm on Duttys R0 HG Sense 2.1. Would like to get to the bottom of this as it is only accessing certain forums that is causing freezes on my phone.
no problems here. I am writing this message from opera 10. I am using dutty's hgr3
For those that want to add the zoom bar to opera it can be done as follows:
First Create the following registry keys
- Open [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SmartTouch\Opera]
- Set String "ClassName"="Opera_MainWndClass"
- Set Dword "Mode"="4"
- Set Dword "WheelCount"="10"
Second Edit the "input.ini" (located in \windows\opera10)
- Change "Right = Zoom in, 10"
- Change "Left = Zoom out, 10"
- Change "Down = Zoom in, 10"
- Change "Up = Zoom out, 10"
restart your device, all should be good

Input.ini is in "Program Files/Opera Mobile 10/Profile"
And it's not so easy to get it working...
yes can you please confirm this works with the hardware zoombar rumpleforeskin? I looked in input.ini (in Program Files/Opera Mobile 10/Profile) And there are many entries for Right= etc. Which ini section should this be added to? In [Browser Widget]?
It's using Mobile View in the settings that breaks this version for me. Desktop view was fine when browsing xda forum.
Also I have seen that Opera 10 doesn't work well setting Mobile view.
I also have another problem, when I active Opera 10 from the internet tab touchflo, it send the following error:
Could not open file "file://localhost/home"
After if I overwrite this address with a correct url, Opera run very well.
Anybody knows how to solve this annoying error?

rumpleforeskin's idea doesn't work, also there is no "Opera" in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SmartTouch, there's "Opera Browser", dunno if it makes any difference
Where exactly do I put the Right/Left etc? the input.ini file has more sections, as wineds said.
Opera 10 Beta - lacking Zoom bar functionality not a problem
I've been trying the Opera 10 beta and have found that the lack of zoom bar functionality isn't an issue. Double-clicking on a page automatically zooms the browser to the right size for the body of text under the area double-clicked.
It actually is better that the default installation which I had to manually keep zooming to make the text fit.
Big +1 for this beta version on the TD2.

How to stop Opera mobile 10 turning numbers blue

I use my HD2 a lot for browsing weather forecasts. The web page has lots of digits describing wind/cloud/viz etc. The problem is some of these are blue and if you select them opera/winmo thinks the digits are phone numbers.
Is there a way to stop this ?
Thanks in advance
this is in Opera Mini but it should be fairly similar.
In Opera go to about:config and look for phonenumber detection and change it from yes to no.
