Battery charging and connection problem, any ideas? - Touch HD General

Hello,
I have strange problem, since today I cannot charge my HD while its being on, when I plug in usb charger nothing happens, i tried charging through PC usb port, and nothing happens.
I cannot even establish connection with a pc, don't get 3 choice menu (active sync, hdd, and nothing) on HD when usb is plugged in.
I suspected that the usb port is defected, but when the unit is switched off, it's charging even though there is no amber led on.
It has original rom and radio in it...
Did anybody had similar problem? The phone is under warranty, should I send it for repair?
Thanks in advance.

Very weird. I would definately advise you to send it in for repair. I haven't heard of anything like this before :O.
Good luck!

Hi, I got the exactly same issue as you described today. Have you got it fixed?
Looking forward to your response.
Thanks,

This has already been discussed:
Battery Not Charging
1.Hard Reset after backing up data.
2.Check if SPL/ROM mismatch - if U flashed a custom ROM or SPL.
3.Short circuiting pins in battery compartment of HD after disconnecting of power/USB and removing battery. (Don't short the battery - it may explode).
Try the solutions, if it doesn't work then go for warranty.
Too many ppl seem to have this problem and no one uses search

I did search it before and got 8-9 pages of results. I tried all the approaches but none could fix it. This guy described the exactly the same symptom I have so I really wanted to know how he ended up doing with the issue before I sent it off for warranty.
The problem right now is really on the USB connection, even in the boot loader mode, it couldn't recognize the USB but it could do it just one day before.
Thanks for your reply. I appreciate if you could have some new ideas for me to try.

Have you tried updating your USB drivers?

Have you tried different usb cables?
Some of my usb cables no longer works. I believe my mini usb connector have become slightly looser and I have experienced a cable will charge the phone but won't come up with any options.
Wotth a shot.

The USB driver seems ok since I used the USB connection to flash ROMs and SPLs the day before without any problem.
As for the cables, I tried 5 or 6 total including the stock one but it didn't help.
As stated before, the only time the phone is charging is when I turn it off completely and it charges fairly quickly. However, the bottom (close to the USB end) part of the phone is very hot during the charge. If I turn it on or put it in standby mode, there is no charge or ActiveSync activity.

I have a similar problem.. My phone charges when I plug it in. But I am not presented with any options and ActiveSync doesn´t recognise the device..

same problem here
I am in the same situation. I flashed back the stock ROM, but with no USB, I am unable to put 6.5 back on....any advice is appreciated.

I sent the bad phone (Telstra T8285) back to the seller (an AUS ebayer) and he nicely sent me back a new phone but the story didn't end here. The second phone worked for one day until I plugged in my usb universal car charger. Damn, the exactly same problem happened again at the very moment I pushed in the usb connector. Now I know what the issue has been. I frankly told the seller what happened and he told me what their repair guy found about my first phone, that the fault was from reverse polarity of power supply. I was very surprised because I have been using the same car charger for my previous 3 PDA phones w/o any issues and it's still working for those devices. What's special about the Touch HD?! Does USB have different polarity specs?
Anyhow the seller said he can replace it again but I need to pay the return shipping this time.
What is baffling me is that the phone can still charge when it's off completely but can't when it's on. Does it look like hardware or software problem? Also the USB can't be recognized in the bootloader mode but it could before being faulted by the charger. Does anyone have experience on faulted connector and is there a fix besides replacing the entire motherboard?
Your help and suggestion is much appreciated. Thanks!

The Advanced config Utility has an option for "USB Charging" maybe you could install it and see if the option says yes?

also me... now i figured out what the real problem
i used my old miniusb car charger about one full day before and the same problem start with me with slight different which is charge if i keep it plug in long time...(start charging after 5 min.)
i'm really lucky by not completly dameged
this issued must be listed and get real answer from HTC compeny if the mini usb for hd is different

HTC TyTN does not charge anymore.... Need Help

Hi Guys
I have a problem with my TyTN at the moment.
My device is not charging.
Yesterday i put it in my Docking Station and wait a little time.
But Now the Tynt isnt charged.
I think ist a Problem with my TyTN Hardware.
I have all Power Supplys used they i have, but it doesent work.
Can you help me?
Its this a problem with the accu or a fuse on the circuit ?
Sorry for my broken english i hope you understand me.
Regards Patrik Laube
Hello,
first of all, try to soft reset the device.
If it fails, hard reset it.
If it doesn't work, go the service center.
Good luck
The above advice is fine. But you did not say if any of the LEDs are lit.
Do you get the red NO CHARGE LED?
Does your phone operate normally except for not charging?

I must load the accu with a special loader.

Thanks for yur help.

I had a similar problem, which was sorted by a new rom, but I ascertained it was software problem when I realised it charged when powered off.

hi,
try this: when your device is connected via usb, tab on the battery icon in the taskbar on you device, go to the register "advanced" and check/uncheck "When Device is turned on, do not charge the battery when connected to the pc"
thats it

I'm having an issue along these lines, also.
My phone has been working fine untill the other night when I tried to charge it via the wall electrical outlet. It will not charge at all, the battery has been drained to nothing and I can't turn it on. The yellowish light doesn't turn on when I plug it in like it used to.
I don't know if this is a battery issue or an issue with the USB connection inside of the phone. On a side note, when it did have power and I tried to connect it to the USB via the PC; it didn't work. The phone was on, but the computer didn't even notice the phone was plugged in. That leads me to believe it would be a connection issue; but I'm not quite sure.
If anyone has anything they can add to this I would appreciate it, thank you.
P.S. Bringing it to a service center is a bit out of the question in the mean time seeing as it was bought on eBay and funds are limited for the time-being.

Hello, I cannot find the "When Device is turned on, do not charge the battery when connected to the pc" in my device. My Rom is WM6.1 CE OS 5.2.20273 cooked by dvha79_ddt.
My HTC TyTN has the sample problem, but i can use the USB to charge normally. It cannot work using my AC adapter Only when the device is open...
About your Battery Issue.
I'll tell you exactly why ur phone isnt charging anymore... If you have been charging it alot on the USB or pretty much any!! charging on the USB u have killed ur battery, never charge your phone on the USB it kinda sucks they should make these phones able to be Sync'd thru USB without a battery cause these batteries should not be powered thru the USB over Time... from syncing to your pc will kill these batteries i have noticed that when u sync this Tytn Ithru USB and the device is at say 70% it charges up to 100% pretty fast i would recommand to you and anyone who reads this dont sync your TYTN or any HTCC phone for to long to the USB Cause it will Trash your batteries Life down the road... Hope this was HELPFUL.
Cheers

^I'm having the same problem with my herm200. I did the soft reset, hard reset changed ROMs but still the same problem. I don't think it's the usb connector because if it is it wouldn't have been able to charge the phone even if it's turned off. Before I'm able to charge it turned on but it would take a few minutes before the orange led turns on, but when I use the phone or if I receive a text the orange led would turn off it's like the charger disconnects but after a few minutes it would go back again. Now it just wouldn't charge turned on, sometimes it gets worse where it just wouldn't charge on or off.
Now I'm already planning to buy an external battery charger.

Are you using an official 1000mA charger? (Not a 500mA one) 500mA ones work, but they are under-powered and can cause strange behaviour, like not charging whilst turned on or whilst on a call. Similar problems can be found with car-chargers that will not charge until the device is soft reset.
Mike
^no it's not the official charger, I have this usb wall charger called Power Juice (phone and mp3 charger).
Input Voltage: AC100-240V
Output Voltage: 5V
Output Current:1000mAh
Do you think it's because I'm not using the original charger?
fixed my charging problems
The boyfriend told me to try a new cable for my charger so he bought me a 5pin usb cable, tried it at home and it worked! I still need to turn off the screen sometimes but that's ok at least I don't have to turn off the phone anymore. Now my battery charges less than 3 hours.
Hold both SoftKeys and Then press the Power button
Or you can also hold both softkeys and then put your stylus into the reset hole.
answer why it does not charge through the usb
Sorry for the very very late response. Under electrical legislation all hand held electrical devices must be insulated and fused. Some of the chargers that you can purchase are sealed without fuse which indicates that the phone has a fuse contained within its circuitry (or there may be 2 fuses one in each device) .
The problem you have encountered is that you have connected your phone to a computer or mains supply to charge. There has been a surge in the electrical supply either on connection or by un-connecting from these supplies (e.g. connect to the computer as it is booting would see a 65w signal through the USB) and this more often than not blows the fuse which sits on the PCB (printed circuit board) just after the usb connection internally to the phone.
you can either have the fuse fixed for 20/25 gbp or you can purchase a new circuit board or you can use an external charger for the battery. As it is only the power input point that is faulty.
hope this helps
Since we are at this non-charging & battery issue, I would like to ask this question on the D838pro. My battery won't charge even after 24 hours of charging. The red LED blinks thru the whole process. The LED did not turn on to orange or green. It is the battery problem because my spare battery works well. I would like to know what is wrong with the battery as I am willing to strip down the battery. Could it be the battery circuit or wiring that had fired?

Never tried stripping down a battery, some things... well, just don't seem worth it. However as a learning exercise it might be interesting. Without lots of testing on a good battery with a multimeter then I have no clue what the readings should be between all the contacts. (Now there's a little job for you) It is as likely the internal structure of the battery is screwed as it is to be a wiring problem.
If you solve it you can certainly report back here

ATT 8525 - Wont Charge / Connect through ActiveSync.

Hi everybody.
I don't know, what is going on with my Att 8525.
I bought this earphones for it like 3 months ago, and they do work. I mean, the audio is coming out from the USB Connector.
But, when I plug it to my computer, it does not detected at all. I plug in to power and does not charge. But if I connected back to the earphones, sounds comes out.
I already try to do a soft reset, delete everything, and start from scratch, but it does not wants to charge or connect to Activesync.
If there is someone, that can help me, please tell me.
I'm guessing here, but it seems to me that the constant use of the EXT port (via inserting/removing your headphones) has possibly damaged the EXT port internally (ie dislodged it from PCB). I believe the ports on WM machines in general tend to be a major point of failure due to the physical stress due to insertion/removal
I had a 2.5mm port on my HP rw6828/Atom clone fail on me after using it for a while to connect my headphones.
The thing is, I only used the Headphones one time.
I was at work watching some comedy show on my phone. So battery was running low. I close down everything, disconnected the headphones and connected to my works computer through USB, but then Activesync didnt detected nor the phone.
So i reseted the phone, and try again to connected to the computer and yet still didnt want to connect.
I went home, and tried to connected to laptop as well, and the charger and nothing. It didnt want to charge at all.
So I had to buy a battery charger to charge the battery, that's the only way to charge my phone.
If you have any idea, what's going on, please help me, to resolve this problem.
hey did you get solution to your problem? if yes please let me know..i have same problem except i dint check with ear phones..

If after a hard reset the problem persists then:
As suggested above, it is likely a cracked solder joint on the USB to motherboard OR a bent pin in the phones USB port. Check this with a magnifying glass.
Mike
thanks for reply..do you have any idea where can i fix if it is problem with connection to motherboard
Perhaps if you say the city/town where you live someone might be able to suggest a shop that does repairs without sending your phone away.

will the phone charge with the wall plug, or only fails charge connected to computer? I had a problem with the computer once, I just went into device manager and uninstalled the USB hubs, they reinstalled fine afterwards and work great (have to do this every few months, probably because I never use the safely remove crap)

[Q] Defy reboots after plugging in usb

I recently flashed my Defy with 3.4.2-179-2 CEE DEBLUR and it reboots every time I plug in my usb cable. It doesn't matter if it's connected to a PC or to the power adapter. Anyone have the same issue and know of a solution?
I did a google search and found someone complaining of the same issue but didn't see a solution.
More background:
I had an issue with my phone and when I went to do a factory reset I was stuck on the google screen. My power ended up running low to the point where I couldn't run the bootloader. I had to charge the battery manually with a battery charger and some wires. I monitored the voltage throughout to make sure the battery was ok. After flashing the new SBF I found that things worked fine except whenever I plugged in a USB cable it would reset. I put CM7 on the phone hoping it'd help but the problem still lingers.
I will probably attempt to flash another SBF or maybe reflash the existing one.
Does this problem only exists if the phone is fully booted or does it happen if you plug it in while booting also? Because if its happening while booting too maybe your usb cable is broken and theres a short in the cable that makes the defy reboot. Have you tried another cable? And what about plugging the cable in before booting the phone? Tried this already?
I encountered this problem occasionally before. Dunno why.
There's 3 possible issues here apart from software/firmware causes.
1) The USB cable might shorted.
- This can be confirmed by using multimeter to test the usb cable. You will see a shorting between to wire in the USB cable.
2) The Phone USB port might shorted.
- This can be confirmed by using another good/new usb cable and test it with multimeter.
3) Phone battery broken(happened when you charge it using wire and external charger).
- This can be confirmed by trying another Defy battery and charge it.
hi farsight,
upon further inspection i'm pretty sure the usb port is shorted because if i squeeze the bottom of the case the phone will reboot.
is there any way i could fix this? I've looked at some videos for the disassembly of the defy.
hi iregistry,
yes the issue occurs if the phone is fully booted and when it's booting.
quit risky la.. if under warranty, why not claim/RMA?
hi adie, i bought it new on ebay and i'm not sure how the warranty works on that.
[solved!]
after further testing I believe it was because the battery contacts were not as close together as they were originally due to me manually charging the battery. It must have been right on the very edge because it would work normally but just squeezing it would make it lose connection.
I used a pin to push the contacts closer together and hope this solves the issue. I've plugged in the usb and squeezed the case and so far everything seems ok.
IMO this is a poor design on motorola's part. the raised contacts on the phone are nice but the contacts on the battery are poor.
Thank you everyone for responding.
Had the same issue. Your solution worked on mine as well. Pushed the contacts on + and - in, and it worked! Thank you!
I had the similar issue. I had attempted to charge battery with external universal charger and looks like since then this issue where "phone would reboot upon unplugging the power source" started. Now as mentioned in this post, put the +/- pins bit closer and tried unplug and no issue observed so far.
Thanks. :good:
I too have the same issue. I tried to charge the battery with some direct USB.
Today I dropped the phone on my bed from 2' height and it got restart. But its quite surprise to see the effect of the USB plugin with the battery connector loosing up
I am thinking of putting a small alumunium wrapper on the +/- connector. Let see.

[Q] Galaxy S4 won't charge

I should clarify the title by saying that trying to charge this phone is resulting in a number of odd results.
So firstly, I've tried using the wall-mounted AC charger. I then tried using USB on my computer, in 3 different usb ports. The phone was charging perfectly less than 24 hours before this problem began.
I plugged it in as per usual, and it didn't show the little lightning bolt on the batter icon like it should. It wasn't registering that it was plugged in. I tried plugging it into my PC, and it wasn't showing that it was connected via USB. In addition to that, my computer was failing to install the drivers for it. I went back to the AC charger, and tried a few different outlets, including one on a power strip. Nothing worked.
I searched online, and found that other people had this problem, and could only fix it by resetting to factory default settings. One person even had to do it twice to get it to work. So I did this, and it still didn't work. I tried charging my old phone with this Ac charger and cable, and it wouldn't work either. So I thought it must be a fault in the cable. So I dug up the cable (also micro-usb) for my old phone, and tried it. It worked just fine for my old phone, but my S4 still had the same problem, but with something new. It would say "Dock connected" but still not charge.
As of right now, it seems to be charging properly with my new AC mount and old usb cable, but I'm worried that this could happen again. Considering this seems to be a problem for other people too, what should I do about it? Is there some way to prevent this sort of thing from happening? Was it purely the other cable, given the fact that it didn't work with my old phone either? I'm on an extremely tight budget, and this phone is my only way of being contacted for job interviews, so having it in working order is very important. Any advice would be very appreciated!
Having exactly the same problem... couldn't find over the internet a solution yet or a position about it...
Affraid it's a hardware issue and have to send to the assistance...
Anyone know what to do?
Yup having the same issues - but i noticed only having charging issues when battery reaches 20% or the low battery notification pops up
it detects that a usb is connected but it wont charge
Solutions:
- dont let it go below 20 which is ****
- some people claim that if you use a 5pin charger instead of the 4pin which samsung includes solves the prob
Mine is a little more serious I think... haven't found a solution like that yet.
I have to connect/disconnect multiple times and it suddenly works.
But between those connects/disconnects it presents multiple problems, it appears on notification bar "Dock Connected", sometimes appears "Dock Connected" and on the notification bar appears "Suggested Apps (Anchoring)", other times it appears "Dock Connected" and the volume bar appears on the screen and stay there freeze (the phone works, but the bar doesn't disappear)... Sometimes the phone starts charging and suddenly stops, other times it says it's charging and if I remove the charger it keeps the charging symbol on the battery icon...
It's completely crazy, gonna take to service I guess.
Have you tried blowing out the usb connector on the phone with a can of compressed air?
If there is a minute piece of dust there it may be shorting something out - error that dock is connected. I know this happens to other phones, there was a big thread about it on the S3 forum. Might be a simple little thing like that...
Unfortunately that doesn't work for me, will send to service, let's see.
have you solved this problem and how?????

Yep, chalk up one more with the same problem!
At first I thought it had something to do with Aviate, a custom launcher from Yahoo (actually a pretty sweet one at that!)
But I guess not.
My work-around is to reboot the phone while connected. It charges fine while turned off and seems to keep charging when booting while plugged in.
Still... this is a stupid work-around and I want this fixed properly.
Any news from any of you guys?

Had this problem today. Suddenly out of nowhere "Dock is connected" message appeared after plugging the charger in and out. Tried to clean out the dock with stick and cotton on the edge. Then turned off and plugged in charger. Problem exists. Phone charges but stops regularly. It is very annoying when you dont know how to fix this kind of problem.
Any new solutions?
Right after this post, I froze the app "battery doctor 4.9.2" using Titanium Backup Pro (you can just uninstall it i guess). Then just plugged charger and now it's already Almost 90% without any interruption.

Amazing! I've dealing with this problem for weeks and internet didn't give me any good answer, but the whole problem was a baterry monitor apk that for some reason was interfiering with the charger. Thank you so much!
I had this problem too and in my case it was a hardware problem. When i start the charging it kept repeating the start proces of charging with the vibration and the grey battery icon(in case the phone was turned off). The battery icon with the green charging light just didn't showed up. I tried many things but nothing helped. I let the phone keep charging for the whole night but in the morning i saw that it didn't charged anyway!
Then i went to a local phone reparation shop(none official samsung) and they knew immediately recognized the problem and it was the usb/charging connector where you plug it in the phone. They fixed it in 1 hour for a cheap price and from then(i think a few months ago) it charges back perfectly. It seems it's a disease with S4's.
In my previous post I was happy thinking that all this charging problems were solved after uninstalling battery apk. But, in fact, my S4 charges very slowly after that incident. I have tried two other samsung adapters (galaxy s4 mini; grand prime). First one results the same (up to 5 hours charging), the latter was comparably shorter (up to 3 hours), but still slower than it used to be (2 hours normally). So I highly suspected the hardware might be the reason. Thank you for your information, now I will also have the phone checked at some local repair shop. And give feedback of course.

You probably got some water damage in your port. What you need to do is clean it. I used pure alcohol and a toothbrush for that. After that I flashed a custom kernel so I could enable fast charge true usb.
That's the reason your phone is charging slowly, it thinks it's connected true usb. So you need to boost the usb charging. After a few charge cycles I could revert back to my standard kernel and the problem was fixed.
I think ur right Lenny.
Mine S4 got wet last weekend and now i am also getting the " Dock is connected" message when i plug in the charger cable.
I can charge my phone but sometimes while charging i hear the sound go off and on what you hear when unplugging the charger.
I will try your solution and hope it will fix mine too. Thanks for posting ur tip!
I suggest you go buy a new genuine cable for an s4, the s4 does actually require a special cable capable of 2A charge rate otherwise you can end up in all sorts of bother.
Thank you all for sharing tips. I cleaned the port as suggested, then replaced my cable. Now everything is back to normal.

Same problem - galaxy s6
Hi there - same problem, on my 128gb s6. started this morning. Yesterday everything fine, would charge when connected via USB to both laptop and to regular samsung usb power unit. Have now tried 3 different USB cables including the samsung cable, 3 different usb power units and of course tried all 3 cables in laptop usb port. Have checked phone's usb port - clean as a whistle. Have rebooted both connected and unconnected. Started getting 'dock connected' message, now it just wont charge, although starts up fine. I take very good care of the phone, so no water damage or untoward shock damage (never get it wet, never drop it). Remaining battery charge seems to fluctuate between 30% and 40+ %, depending upon whether it's plugged in or not. If I turn it off, then connect usb cable, the phone just reboots, still not charging. I then turn it off and see no green battery charging screen, as I used to seen when connected but turned off. Should I just hard reset and take to repair shop? Still under warranty.
I would return the phone for a warranty repair. Software would not usually prevent the phone from charging when powered off.
As a final test, see if the s6 will charge wirelessly, assuming you have access to a qi charging pad and the s6 has a built-in qi receiver like the North American version of the s6.

Problem recognizing charging, headset, and PC connection

Hello boys! I have a very serious problem with my LE PRO 3. Since yesterday, the following is happening BUG: When I connect the charger, it does not load immediately. It only loads if I reboot the device. And if I take it out and put it back, it stops loading again. This also happens when I connect to the PC. The device only recognizes if I leave the cable connected and restart. With the headset the same thing. It only recognizes if I leave it connected and restart the device. I'm on the Cydrass Google edition ROM, and my device is the x720 version. I have already switched to other ROMs (LineageOs, Ressuection Remix, and even the Chinese STOCK ROM 26s, and the problem still persists!) Apparently it's a serious problem recognizing my USB port I do not know what else to do! Please, help me!
even first buy , do you have problem ?
To Vitor_147
Remember, if you change the stock original LeEco rom you cannot say "have a problem with my LePro3", it's no longer the original combo "LePro3" (hardware + software) so expect (and accept) anything (better or worse!) and report the defects to the rom developer.
Now some helping things!
Apart to clean the phone usb c port and to try a new usb cable, you can:
With the usb cable connected, switch the usb debug off (or on) (developer options) then check if your computer detect your phone.
Even if your computer doesn't detect the phone or your phone seems not charging battery, if the usb cable (and charger) is good in 99% of the cases it charges the battery even if not at full charge rate (expect a minimum 4 hours charge time).
Before to give up, the last try is to bring your phone back to factory conditions with everything (but everything!) under the exact conditions of how it came out of the factory, then you can start over there and have an idea of whether the phone has a hardware defect or if it's just a matter of software.
I hope you solve the problem, if you find the right solution please report it here, so other users can learn how to solve this problem! Cheers!

I already wrote this up in Omni thread, so I'll keep it short. I've also been experiencing this same issue for a while now, it first happened on stock rom, reboot solves it. Darko tried a fix in his eas kernel, seems to fix it (so maybe somehow kernel related). I believe it might be somehow related to the usb-c controller, cause I found cases online of similar issues with pixel phones (i believe the controller manufacturer is the same as in our phones). I actually know the exact moment when my problems first began, after I used my OTG adapter to connect a usb mouse. Few hours after that, the phone wouldnt charge.
{Disclaimer - this part is purely my theory}
I think it maybe somehow related to a safety "switch/fuse" of sorts, or something to do with static discharge or something similar, and here's why. I did a loot of trial and error since the first time it happened to me cause it scared the sh*t outta me, thinkin my phone is broken. I am vigilant about careful handling of usb ports and such, (ocd-ish really) so theres no way I physically damaged it, its not loose one bit, cleaned it out, tried wiggling the cable around anyway, has no effect, so I excluded the possibility of a faulty port/soldering. A few occurences to note
No1 - if I plug my phone in the charger first, and then plug the charger in the outlet, it breaks the port, I have to reboot to fix it. But plug the charger in the outlet first, then the cable to the phone - no problem. (Static discharge of sorts?)
No2 - since it started happening, the only way my usb-c OTG adapter works is if i first plug the adapter in the phone, and then the desired usb device in the adapter. If i try to plug the adapter in the phone w/say a usb stick already connected to it - no go, doesnt work.
Oh... I'm sorry for what happens to your phone! It's true the safest way to charge a phone avoiding current surge/spikes/shocks is to plug first the charger to AC outlet, then the usb c plug to the phone, then the usb plug to the charger. If possible, never plug/unplug the charger to/from the AC outlet if the phone is connected to the charger.
When the phone is full charged, first unplug the cable, not important which side first, then unplug the charger. If the phone is still charging, better unplug first the cable from the charger side to avoid micro spikes on the usb c port.
If you cannot obtain a normal behavior of the usb c port neither with reflashing the phone with the "qfil" system, perhaps a logic port of the usb c port is burned or simply in undetermined state, in the last case a total battery discharge may reset the logic port state and the phone can works fine once fully recharged. I'm sorry I can't help you better at this time! Cheers!

@orsonbear, thats my train of thought aswell, micro discharges occuring while plugging/unplugging causing the controller to freak out, or potentially damage the tiny connections (micro usb only had 4 wires vs 24! in usb-c). But I believe the problem lies somewhere on the software/firmware side, mainly because a reboot solves any issue I have. And also I just remembered, the first time it happened to me was a couple of days after I updated my firmware while updating to 19s, or 20s, cant recall precisely. Anywho, for me it's a minor nuissance, not like the OP who can only connect his phone once before rebooting (I can go for weeks before it occurs).

Yes,
I thought about letting the phone down completely, and see if that does not happen anymore!
Same problem here
Days ago it start happen, exactly how you say, i never change the stock software and it start happen randomly, I have to reboot to recognize anything that I plug into the USB c port, I try factory reset and change from 26s to 23s and it keeps happening so maybe I'm pretty ****ed, someone help me, in my country no one will fix the port u.u (sorry for my English).
Hellao! I'm having a very similar issue, charging works fine and the pc detects the phone but OTG and the audio on my headset is not working. Did someone of you find a solution to this problem?
1. x720, x722 or x727?
2. Where did you buy the phones? (Store names)
3. What kind of USB-C cable were you using? The one that came in the box? Have you used other USB-C cables and adapters to see if it works?
This could be hardware failure due to a lack of QCing from LeEco (just your average hardware issue) or a USB-C cable issue. It's ver. 1.0 on all LeEco Pro 3 models (right)? So I can't say it's the cable for sure. Has anyone attempted to take the phone apart to replace the port? do they even sell the port replacement?
Similar problem for me. About a month ago my headset stop working and the phone did not recognize it at all, tried with the adaptor to 3,5 mm jack and did not work either. Charging worked though.
Found a replacement chip with usb c port and ordered. Yesterday i replaced the charging port, but still the headset do not work at all, and connection to PC does not work ether. Charging still works as usual.
I ordered the phone from grossoshop 7 month ago with their rom. Tried this evening to upgrade the rom from 5.8.018 to 5.9.020, still grossoshop but no difference... It should not be a hardware problem as i replaced the type c port.
Should i try to flash another rom to see if there's any difference?
Any other suggestions?
Thankful for any ideas

Have you tried switching cables? Could you have broken a contact or something while swapping the port out? Have you tried putting the old port back in to see if the computer recognizes the phone with it? Unfortunately you're gonna have to try everything, even if opening it back up again is tough. LeEco phones aren't exactly known for their build quality. Are you x720? Well, flash whatever ROMs you can, I guess. Might as well try everything.

Yes, I have tried to switch the cables so no problem with them. Have not done a swap back again as the problem seem to be similar as before, so maybe a change to a different rom will be the next step for me. If change of rom does not work, maybe then I'll try to swap port again.
And yes, It's a X720
Thanks for fast reply.

Maybe it's not plugged in or attached correctly so the phone doesn't detect it. Sounds like a hardware issue to me, in all honesty. I once took apart my iPhone 5 to replace the non-functional home button and it wouldn't work no matter what I tried. I had to remove the battery, reseat it, and then attach the home button again. It finally worked after a reboot.
just report in on this thread, I as well recently purchased an x727 experienced the similar issue. Basically as described above no matter what roms i test is always have some sort of camera errors when charging.
sometimes charging doesn't work or camera doesn't work I have to reboot to get it to work. extremely annoying. I think it is hardware related.
Anybody else have a solution?

This my advice to anybody considering buying this phone don't why you will get zero support from letv.
I got luckey I have zero problems with phone .
I recommend spending more money and getting a supported phone by the maker.
If you do buy one buy it from Amazon where get a warranty on it.
