Community FTP server? - XPERIA X1 General

Is a community FTP server needed?
I just thought that I can't really help out the community in the coding areas... I did study software development and I could develop the skills, but I don't have time and I couldn't be bothered...
So I thought maybe I could offer a community FTP server, if one is needed?

I believe we already have one. I've been downloading things from our site.

To Haykuro, Jesusfreke, DudeOfLife & other rom developers

I have a few ideas for the troubles developers are having here
1. Each rom developer should work together and have one area that only developers can give ideas and input, only select people would be allowed to post to the area but we could all view what is in the works, a semi private forum or community, this would cut down on spam and allow for uninterupted development
2. Developers shouldn't have to handle being customer care/support, they shouldn't have to deal with idiots that cannot rtfm or search, this takes time from their own ideas and development process as well as their own lives having to keep up with thousands of people.
3. In organized places like the linux kernel project developers are seperated from the community to a point to avoid such issues that turn away good developers. Basically the developers know what need to be done, its a passion of theirs and we are all lucky to take part in the experience
4. There is already communication between developers and maybe the mods could create a read only area for non-developers, and read/write for rom developers and trusted helpers
So if xda cannot create a seperate forum just for the developers to use and for people to view but not spam/other things I say the devs should just create another rom mod community
Thanks,

The xda forum has been here for very long time. And that proves there's nothing wrong with the working model we're having here right now. Otherwise you wouldn't see an active forum like this, amirite?
Part of the problem here is that evryone in the community who has an interest in modding KNOWS that this is the place all the modders go. I agree if we created a tech support forum (or a sepperate website) with threads that can only be started by privilaged users then the madness would be contained within a logical structure.
I agree with this completely! This will force those that don't research (search and read appropriate topic) into doing some studying! We need to resolve this issue ASAP before we lose more of our top devs! I appreciate their hard work and the countless hours of effort they put in! I've read some of these long threads and they just keep getting longer by posters that ask a question that was answered at or near the beginning of the topics! Pretty ridiculous? I call it laziness!
I think this is a great idea. And also maybe an irc for devs and trusted helpers.

Android Nuts!

For anyone interested I started a (very small so far) general android community on the ning network last night. There isn't much content at all yet but I open an invitation to anyone interested!
http://androidnuts.ning.com
Feel free to join and start new discussions, suggest ideas to make it better as it grows, etc.
for those in need of the 1.6 Recovery Image from HTC necessary for Cyanogen ROMS...I have it hosted as an attachment in the rom link thread on androidnuts.ning.com no membership necessary
we finally have a new member (not a local friend if you have simple questions that you get flamed for here, ask on http://androidnuts.ning.com
Can't guarantee no flaming, but there are less people on to flame ya

Free hosting for all developers

Hey all
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=712404
Just wanted to bring my other thread up to light here, started in the Desire section.
I have a server that i could host different ROMs for many different phones on and easy download for all users here.
And uploader account for all the developers and sections for each phone and such.
What you all think?
I will be getting a domain for this also.
Name suggestions are welcome
A name that maybe not refers to custom roms to much

developers needed for an open source, non-profit project

Hi Everyone! I'm launching a non-profit organization that aims to provide big data analysis for the good of humanity rather than targeted marketing. To start with, we'll need app developers, web developers, and beta testers willing to help us with bug reports. To see what it's all about, check out the project description here - theGOODforyou.org
Contact us through the aforementioned site if you'd like to help, or subscribe to our newsletter to stay in the loop and see how it's all going.
Our github page for the current (alpha) app is here - github.com/dickmacinnis/theGOODforyou-journal
sorry for not being able to link, but as a new user here I currentlly can't make proper links.
You can ask for developers here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43215793
Good luck.
Thanks
